2321  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum Fork good or bad? on: July 21, 2016, 01:11:18 AM
So far, surprisingly good. For the coin at least, given that the price is mysteriously rising besides popular forum sentiment. Any fork, especially ones of this nature, are bad for crypto in general. We trust these technologies because of the authority a complete and unmolested blockchain provides.

When you take that away, you might as well have Mario Bros coins.
2322  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Why Etherium price is decreasing day by day ? on: July 21, 2016, 01:07:51 AM
Today, the price is levitating due to some black magic I'm not privy to. OP, we might have to eat a slice of humble pie. But I haven't put on my bib yet. Let's give this a little more time.

I'm wondering if all this uptrend is predicating the mother of all shorts. We will see.
2323  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: HELP ME WITH A DOUBT PLEASE !!!! on: July 21, 2016, 01:04:42 AM
This forum is rich with info.  You just have to know how to use it right and be able to filter all the information you gathered.  There are a lot of shills and FUD in here so be careful.  But as you hang out here more and more, you'll be able to know intuitively who's a shill and who's FUD and everyone in between.  This forum is really one of a kind and it's one of the most engaging ones that I have been a member of.  Lot's of drama.

It's not TV, it's BTCtalkŠ

You also might want to try some of the exchange chat boxes. Again, shill and fud city, but if you can wade through the mess there are gems. There are guys in this space that are extremely knowledgeable about trading in general, and the technologies behind some coins (they will chat your ear off). Also, you can get a good feel for market sentiment by listening to the chatter.
2324  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Alright, which one of you guys purchased/held ETH post fork? on: July 20, 2016, 11:36:59 PM
OK, I'm quite baffled at the current ETH pricing situation. Not only did I not see the 'ETHexit' as I predicted, the price is moving upward as though these last weeks of crazy sauce with the ETH situation didn't happen. So, what's up? Can anyone that brought/is hodling please explain your motivations to me? I'm trying to get a read on market sentiment.
2325  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: So where's the ethereum exodus? on: July 20, 2016, 11:33:13 PM
there ain't gonna be an exodus. the fork went smoothly and it's all back and running. that's not to say they haven't screwed themselves in the long run but it's an object lesson in money winning over principle. just like the rest of the world pretty much so it'll probably keep on climbing.

Man, I'm sitting here looking at the price, with what I imagine is the same expression you have right now. These guys are actually buying this. It's like, children are trading on this market. It doesn't even behave right.
2326  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Media Increadibly Positive After ETH Hard Fork on: July 20, 2016, 11:30:43 PM
Well, I'd be disingenuous if I didn't say I wasn't surprised at the way the price is moving. Not only has it surged, it seems to be holding. I'm going to keep watching this, but for the meanwhile, I must say I may have overestimated the panic. I can't explain it, but I'm sitting here looking at it.
2327  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do Bitcoins have Tax?? on: July 20, 2016, 05:40:09 PM
Besides transaction fees, as stated above, bitcoin is a commodity and is taxed when sold for capital gain. If you sell bitcoin for fiat, you will be liable for taxes on it that year, in the States at least.
2328  Other / Off-topic / Re: Best place to get a free dog on: July 20, 2016, 04:39:50 PM
People, let this thread die a natural death. If the op was serious, this person has a dog by now, and it's probably dead, unfortunately.

Becoming a Bitcoin Broker

Perhaps one of the most obvious as well as one of the most popular ways to start a business in this industry is to set yourself up as a broker, buying and selling coins to other users.

Unlike other areas of finance, digital currency users often have a preference for using peer-to-peer services rather than large companies. This preference extends to exchanges, meaning that it is very easy for a small trader to set themselves up as a broker in their local area or over the internet

This is a great idea, but be careful about the specific money remission laws in your state (this could make you an exchange of sorts, depending on  volume and customers). You may require a license if you operate openly as a business, instead of just speculating.
2330  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: So where's the ethereum exodus? on: July 20, 2016, 04:26:07 PM
All the people, "time to sell your GPU's, the HF is a gameover man! Game over!"

So what happened guize?

Bro, it just happened man.  Give it time.  Eth is being held up by big pockets taking huge hits in the profit by keeping the market up like a crutch.  Only a matter of time.....

This has been the case during this whole debacle. The price just had to be propped up; I can't imagine panic was that tame during all this, ESP in crypto land. But, I am surprised the Exodus hasn't begun. We will see..
2331  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: We need a PokemonGO coin on: July 20, 2016, 03:22:38 PM
I think we have enough shitcoins already without adding another one. I could still see someone at some point adding this though, not that it will do anything different from any other shitcoin it will just have the fancy name. I dont know if nintendo or anyone could even shuit it down either since it would be decentralised. Im not sure who they could send a court order to.

So many shitcoin only fancy names with no unique features and usage I will not surprise with pokemongo's popularity some is already setting up one for a pump and dump game I think there will always be a market for this

TrumpCoin
42coin
Potcoin
Bitcoin
And the beat goes on and on and on and on and.

Edit: why did Trump not respond to Trump.coin? Kanye did, they had to cease and desist. Seems like Trp would be on his shit more, but they dopay people atlabel s to stay on top of stuff like this.
2332  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How are some people making $11k on steem? on: July 20, 2016, 02:20:16 AM
How are people making $11,000 on STEEMIT?

By posting cool shit there instead of here.

Next question.

Give this man a cookie, dammit.

But seriously, the STEEM thing is unreal. Doesn't seem sustainable, but we will see. Might get in there with an article myself. Seems the only thing making money on STEEM are posts about STEEM.

I made 500 for a sonnet and it wasn't about steem. What will be really interesting will be when my fellow poets arrive if we can get a pay-for-critique system running--it sometimes takes an hour or more to really delve into a poem's meaning and technical aspects, so on forums it is a labor of love that is mostly rewarded with defensive arguments and troll backlash. Monetizing the process might lead to deeper readings and an incentive to play nice. We'll see....

So like, they paid out you STEEM, and STEEM power, and it was withdrawable with no issues? I haven't interacted with anyone that has utilized the platform to cash out before, can you elaborate on what it was like if you feel like it? Thanks in advance, and you make me want to get off my ass and make this work. I keep procrastinating about my first post, what it will be and how I will construct it. Torn between cooking tutorial and garden tutorial.
2333  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are crypto miners/investors gamblers? on: July 20, 2016, 02:16:19 AM
All speculation on future events for profit is considered 'gambling'. Be it a stock, or a knc miner. Even an investment in bitcoin is a gamble at this point, but it's not the worst/ most risky investment you can make.

Now purchasing Ethereum, on the other hand.. Grin
2334  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: We need a PokemonGO coin on: July 20, 2016, 01:52:05 AM
While I think any iteration of this is an absolutely horrible idea from a practical place, the inside part of me knows this would probably be very popular. If TrumpCoin can exist, hell, the system has been broken  Grin

Would work best with tokens that represent individual creatures. Blockchain should only be there for trading records. Creatures should probably be in the block rewards. Leave all that gym and pokeball nonsense with the app.

Community, promise me we won't do this. Please.

2336  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I think Ethereum will be finished after this attack on: July 20, 2016, 01:45:05 AM
It's like before Christmas. I'm all giddy and shit. Honestly, just curious to see where this goes, this thing has been playing out in slow motion foooorrreeeevvveerrr. Not gonna short, if I do decide to touch this, going to buy near the bottom on the way back up.
2337  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: do you like slot games ? on: July 19, 2016, 05:55:01 PM
Slots are my least favorite game. It's really short, usually anti climactic, and I feel like I couldn't really influence the choice before I started. Not like playing blackjack or poker, or betting on a sporting event. At least I got to make a decision on it, not like clicking a button or pulling a stick, and waiting for a result to pop up.

It's kind of like wearing a condom. Takes away all the feeling.
2338  Economy / Marketplace / Re: idea for online bitcoin shops on: July 19, 2016, 05:31:53 PM
The reason I suggested a physical good (tea) rather than a digital good is because the digital market is already over saturated. Not only are there forum members selling steam games and keys, and PlayStation codes; they are also a number of homebrew websites, and after all that, you have to compete with Gyft. Better a thing only you can provide, like a hand crafted thing (art, craft, food even) or cater to a niche (specializing in having a wide selection of funny trucker hats, for example). That way you can order in bulk, and make that markup.

There is always a niche.

Always sell what you can mark up the most.

Know your target demographic. You are dealing with techno savvy folks for the most part. Wouldn't do to sell them hamburgers, you could sell those to anyone. Sell them USB cables even. But sell something relevant to the target.

Might follow my own advice about that tea,. Was an afterthought, but I see some merit in it if done right. Gonna clam up about it now.

On second thought, don't sell tea.
The only bad thing is that it's hard to look for a customer that may want your tea. Like what's special about it? I can get tea in the market if you can't specify things that may be different from others.

You shouldn't have to look for customers. It's a webshop. Tea , and coffee are the most popular beverages in the world. If you drank tea, you would know that it's hard to get high quality tea unless you live in a culture that openly drinks tea. This is why they sell tea at Starbucks. Brewed, and in bags. When you do find decent tea, in places like whole foods or Lowe's foods, you pay a lot for it. And the selection sucks. Also, tencho savvy consumers are big in caffeine. Look at the popularity of energy drink products with that demographic. I'm not stuck on tea, but I am stuck on the OP offering a cheap product that can be easily sourced, and stocking many different types of said product, so that his shop becomes a known place to purchase a variety of said niche products. What I'm saying is, he should specialize. He could do hats. Or lighters. Or custom computer hardware peripherals. But you notice all my suggestions are products that are niche, and usually marked up. And things that bitcoin users use. Trust and believe, there are a lot of tea drinkers on this forum.

Also, understand that tea goes beyond the Lipton at Walmart. Check these out:

(I want that matcha, it's pretty much Amazon only here. Unless you find an Asian specialty store, or go online. )

But leave this idea alone. I want that.

Same can be said of Polo, if guys aren't in there actively shilling. If the mods are on point, there are some grandmaster trader ninjas that will teach you a world about trading and the technologies behind some of these coins. I just would be careful about taking financial advice, they could be a bit biased in their suggestions  Grin
2340  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: after 2013 did you foresee the second coming of alts? on: July 19, 2016, 07:00:31 AM
I thought we got burned enough with the 'crypto asset' craze that people wouldn't invest into IPO style crypto investments anymore. Everything from that era went belly up, NEOBEE, RENT, ASICMINER. But I was wrong, people went full retard with the Ethereum thing. We are apparently still greedy, so not too much changed. This is just everything rounding the corner again. We
