2321  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can owning 1 Bitcoin make you rich in 2023? on: April 11, 2023, 02:56:10 PM
Quote
Can owning 1 Bitcoin make you rich in 2023?

The correct answer is YES and NO, and if you are wondering how this is possible, the answer is very simple. 1 BTC in a third world country and the same BTC somewhere in a developed country definitely have a different value for the one who owns it. For someone, the current $30 000 per 1 BTC would represent a real fortune, for someone else it would certainly not be the case. This means that everything depends on where you live and how you perceive the term "rich".

When I understood the true potential of Bitcoin. I joined this forum as I am not someone who can spare the money required to invest for 1BTC.

I hope you know that you don't have to buy 1 BTC to own it, you can also buy very small shares if you consider that the smallest unit of BTC "satoshi" 0.00000001, and you can theoretically buy BTC worth only a few $.

So, my question is can Bitcoin give a life that I dreamt as a child. Is it possible to gain financial freedom? What exactly does financial freedom means in context of Bitcoin?

It is possible to make some dreams come true by investing some money in Bitcoin, but considering that you yourself admit that you don't have any money (or that you don't have enough to buy 1 BTC), then that dream cannot come true literally overnight. If you set a goal and if you persist in it, maybe one day you will achieve your dream.

As for financial freedom, Bitcoin gives you the possibility to be your own bank, in other words to control the private keys that allow you to spend the Bitcoin you bought. Simply put, only you have control over what you own, of course if you want it and if you understand how to achieve it. You buy Bitcoin, send it to your address in a non-custodial wallet (desktop, hardware wallet) and after you make a backup and store it safely, you have your own bank Wink

As for the upcoming announcement of the next lottery winner, it would be great if a winner was some lucky guy who literally had a few golden tickets.

Speaking of the biggest prize, did any of the lucky winners publicly brag about such a prize? I would definitely take the prize in BTC rather than the car, because all the costs I would have to pay to import it would probably be in the range of a new mid-range car.

As for those golden lottery tickets, I play regularly and so far I haven't had the luck to win any, although I know a friend who has had more luck, and I've seen some forum members who have won them.
2323  Other / Meta / Re: Making new messages more obvious (SMF patch) on: April 11, 2023, 10:42:48 AM
I also check if I have a new personal message when I log in, and after that I rely on the option "Show a popup when you receive new messages?" which, when turned on, notifies you every time you receive a new personal message in a way that is difficult (or impossible) to ignore.

It's not that your option wouldn't be an additional improvement, but it's not a problem for me personally as it is now.
2324  Economy / Reputation / Re: How secure are you when unknown user chats you up? on: April 11, 2023, 10:26:25 AM
Why do you even communicate with strangers that way? I understand that things like this cannot be avoided if you sell something online or offer some virtual services, but if you leave your contact around, then you can't expect anything other than that all kinds of strange people (scammers) will contact you.

If I were you, that chat would end after one or two messages, and that user would be blocked. It's not that I'm afraid that someone will deceive me or something similar, but I consider such things a complete waste of time.
2325  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 10, 2023, 02:05:57 PM

If someone tells you something negative about Bitcoin these days, don't waste a word, the picture says it all - for those who doubt, there is also a video.

Bruh, don't bring data to a propaganda topic, you might confuse the poor fellow!  Grin
Oh and one thing, I don't doubt unemployment is down in Russia, with 300 000 dead and maimed for life and a further 400 000 kidnapped from the streets to serve in the military pretty obvious a ton of job openings are available right now!

You forgot about the prisons that were cleaned of tens of thousands of prisoners who chose 6 months of war to maybe get their freedom. Although most of them did not return, I read a few days ago that some of them survived and committed a new crime immediately after returning home, and were again sent to prison. Will the main orchestrator give them another chance?

You know what they say, statistics are important, and it doesn't matter how you reduced unemployment - 10 years ago my country had about 500 000 unemployed, last year we issued over 120 000 work permits to foreigners, and for the government that is a success. All these politicians are the same, only their methods differ.
2327  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Times When Casinos Will Ask Certificate That You Are A Responsible Gambler on: April 10, 2023, 01:23:56 PM
Will there come a time when online casinos will implement that you upload a responsible gambler certificate before you continue to play because of too many government restrictions it's not necessary for newly registered gamblers but for gamblers who lose a lot of money and their activity is they are suspected to be addicted to gambling.
~snip~

The authorities know very well that they should stick to those old methods that go back thousands of years and which enable them to keep people under control - panem et circenses or as they would say today "bread and circuses". In other words, people must not be hungry, and on the other hand, they should be allowed to play with their money, even if it means that some of them will become addicted to it to the extent that it will become a real problem.

After all, such a certificate would be almost meaningless, because not only would it be easy to forge it, but it would also be extremely complicated to verify every player. As for every casino and any other game of chance, it is enough to warn players to play responsibly, and that playing can be addictive. Everything else is a matter of personal choice.
2328  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What advice do you give a newbie? on: April 10, 2023, 01:07:57 PM
for a start, you should be honest. As I can see from your previous writing, even if you are a newbie, you started giving political analysis and pieces of advice. this post of yours seems to me more like an attempt to collect merit (translation gave a different meaning).
~snip~

Good observation, I also find it strange when someone asks for instructions and has been writing on the forum for a week, mainly on the topic of politics and economics. If you come to a forum that has "bitcointalk" in its name, and you don't show that you have any interest in Bitcoin or altcoins, my only advice would be to ask yourself "maybe I'm in the wrong place?"

Not that I want to discourage the OP, but I just want to say that if I'm interested in football and not basketball, then I won't go to a basketball game, pretty simple.
2329  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Take good care of yourselves on: April 10, 2023, 10:42:01 AM
We all have this dream of becoming a Satoshi millionaire, many people have the target of making their first 1 million dollars and yes that's a good thing, this is possible with crypto and Bitcoin and I am not here to discourage you.

I think that many people simply aim too high, and there is a saying that says "he who flies high, falls low". If someone thinks that $1 million will solve all their problems, then they are greatly mistaken, because that money will melt in the blink of an eye, because the more money you have, the faster you will spend it.

I have seen people taking this holding of Bitcoin too far, where they are doing all they can to accumulate Bitcoin. Like limiting their spending by all means, eating less food, and doing harder jobs, I just want you to know that we are living on borrowed time.

That's one of the human flaws, they grab and collect so much that they don't even realize that their life has passed without them doing a lot of the things they wanted to do. In the end, fate plays with them and everything is inherited by someone who doesn't appreciate it at all. Therefore, I agree that everyone should live in such a way that they do not deprive themselves of some basic life needs just because you think that the price of BTC tomorrow will be higher than today.

In the end, we should use Bitcoin as much as possible as a currency, because that's the only way it will fulfill its purpose.
2330  Economy / Reputation / Re: Maxre Stop deceiving people. I will leave him a negative tag. on: April 10, 2023, 10:23:20 AM
After an account under the nickname fennic commits plagiarism, and the moderators do not react to it in any way, after receiving a negative tag, he connects a second account under the nickname classicman1. With whom he successfully exchanges merits.
~snip~

I honestly thought that after so much evidence @fennic got a perma-ban and that I wouldn't hear about him again on the forum, but he seems to have nine lives or one of the admins is his uncle Cheesy

It's clear to me that you can't just kick some people out of the forum because they keep coming back like a boomerang, but don't evil fees play any role for those people? Do they pay for new accounts, or do they somehow slip through the system?

The post was deleted, but the user did not receive a perma-ban, at least not according to BPIP. Maybe it's a temporary ban, and maybe mods have a little more tolerance these days. Probably he won't be so lucky next time, he's not Jason Bourne after all Wink

No, not really. I am not planning on launching anything. I am enjoying life.

No one will say you didn't deserve it, and there aren't many crypto projects that had a happy ending like FaucetHub.

Yeah, EC was very shady from the beginning.

Once a scammer, always a scammer - many didn't believe it when you warned us, but that's just the way it is. I didn't lose anything significant because I made regular withdrawals, and just before the problem I mostly withdrew more or less everything.

FH closed due to regulations. 2019 was the peak for the faucet industry.
I'm not sure if we'll see any advancements in the microtransactions/faucets industry just yet. Volume is still bad in crypto.

Maybe something could be done with LN when it comes to Bitcoin faucets, but I think the biggest problem is how to make them profitable, and at the same time not refuse people to use them. Most of the owners today rely on short links, but a good part of them require you to go through at least 3-5 links or even more in order to make a final claim, which can be very time-consuming, not to mention all the junk that is served through these links.
2333  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Croatian League - Hrvatska nogometna liga 2022./2023. on: April 09, 2023, 02:36:11 PM
Bišćan is a terrible choice - at least in my opinion. I don't really rate Čačić as well - and Bišćan will probably do well in HNL (everybody would with Dinamo).

I agree that it is a bad choice, but I can imagine someone much worse who would be happy to be a coach again (Kruno Jurcic). Looking back, Dinamo ZG never seriously invested in coaches, they were all solutions that served The Boss, and regardless of the fact that he has not been in the country for some time, he is still making some key moves in the club. Biscan will serve his purpose, but the same fate awaits him as all the others before him.

Considering that Dinamo will have to go through a bigger reconstruction this summer and the fact that the new coach will have to assemble a team for Europe fast - they needed someone with at least more experience.

Realistically, there is no such person on the domestic market, and a foreigner should be paid much more than Cacic or Biscan, not to mention that no foreigner would stay longer than a month in a club where some strange games are played, and in the past months we have seen about what a circus it is.
2334  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Quantum computing threat to bitcoin ? on: April 09, 2023, 01:36:50 PM
Webber’s team calculated that breaking bitcoin’s encryption in a 10-minute window would require a quantum computer with 1.9 billion qubits, while cracking it in an hour would require a machine with 317 million qubits. Even allowing for a whole day, this figure only drops to 13 million qubits. This is reassuring news for bitcoin owners because current machines have only a tiny fraction of this – IBM’s record-breaking superconducting quantum computer has only 127 qubits, so devices would need to become a million times larger to threaten the cryptocurrency, something Webber says is unlikely to happen for a decade.

"Quantum computers are a million times too small to hack bitcoin"

There are probably hundreds of topics on this forum where this question is asked - and I think that quantum computers will hack Bitcoin sooner than people will learn to use search engines, unfortunately.

In any case, if you say nothing can be hidden from the authorities today, what does it imply on mixers?

This implies that even mixers are not something that ensures the level of anonymity that some imagine when using them. It's not just that someone has already proven that it is somehow possible to break such services, which you can see here -> Breaking Mixing Services. It is also about the fact that users do not use the same services in the way it is suggested to them, which leads to the fact that transaction A can be connected with transaction B using very simple methods.

Besides, mixing coins and selling the same for fiat are two different things - because if any usual method like bank accounts is used, every user must be ready to explain the origin of that money.
2336  Economy / Economics / Re: Swiss Government-Owned Bank PostFinance to Offer Customers bitcoin and ether on: April 09, 2023, 11:11:14 AM

Anyone that would purchase Bitcoin and leave it in the bank is not acting with due caution and unfortunately a lot of the people using crypto as investments don't understand that.

I would even conclude that most refuse to understand because it's easier that way, if only profit is at stake, then that's the only thing that matters in the end. If the bank provides guarantees and insurances for such crypto deposits, many will consider it a much better option than using CEX or non-custodial wallets.

On the one hand, the fact that they offer it to you at the bank, in the eyes of society, gives it a good reputation, and on the other hand, although you are right, it's like buying bitcoin on Coinbase or others and leaving it there.

I can agree with you here, because most people look for some kind of confirmation from the government, politicians or banks in order to believe that something is legitimate, and the Bitcoin logo on the door of a well-known bank is certainly a good advertisement and gives people some kind of confidence in something. The only question is whether banks want to profit only from fees, or would they also offer the possibility of withdrawals to non-custodial wallets? If that option existed, then I personally would not have anything against banks becoming part of the game.

Michal Saylor told an anecdote about how a subsidiary of Bank of America went from telling him that not only could he not buy bitcoin there, but that they could not even talk about it, to offering bitcoin trading and custody services. As much as it departs from Satoshi's initial idea, I prefer the latter.

If I'm not mistaken, a few days ago I saw that BOA became one of the largest owners of shares in MicroStrategy (Q1 2023), so we can say that such banks are also changing their strategy a bit, because that bank was known for its extremely negative attitude towards Bitcoin in the past.

Will our community be putting together an expedition to the moon?    Grin

I think it's an interesting idea, not because of a treasure hunt or the like, but in the form of promoting the forum. A BTT flag on the Moon or something similar would certainly not cost much, but it is still a serious project that should involve a lot of people🚀

it's hard  to find good websites in searches so i am asking for any good website which you follow or learn from.

Serious sites have a professional approach to what they do, which includes optimization and SEO, so they will certainly appear in the first 10-15 search results. Nothing is hard to find, you just need to know where and how to look, but I don't understand what exactly you want to learn? This forum is a very good source of information, not only when it comes to Bitcoin, but also for hundreds of different crypto projects that you can find in Altcoins boards.

If you want to know what is happening in the world of finance and cryptocurrencies, I generally suggest one of the popular business programs like Bloomberg or CNBC.
2339  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Discussion: Who is going to fill the gap of Chipmixer by the end of year 2023? on: April 08, 2023, 03:33:28 PM
It doesn't seem to me that any of the mixers will be able to reach the popularity that CM had, not only because of their business policy (no mandatory fee and chip service), but also because of their generosity when it came to the signature campaign with the undeniable fact that they had the best business model in that regard (max number of posts and campaign conditions).

But whoever imposes himself as number one in this business will surely end up the same as CM, because the hunters have caught their prey and they smell blood, the hunt continues.

Wow! Does that mean you're beating the sportsbook so much that they've limited your betting?

Probably not, although that possibility should not be ruled out. Once upon a time, I was a very serious player in sports betting and then there were no online betting like today and everything took place in physical betting offices. After a significant series of wins, they simply didn't want to accept my payments anymore, because every attempt to make a payment would end in an authorization that never ended.

No one likes those who understand the game to the point where they can profit from it, because that means the other side is losing money, and that's simply not acceptable.
