Why not just use Tor browser?

I wonder the same thing, because using Tor for Android is the simplest possible solution if someone needs something like that on a smartphone or tablet. I've never used Orbot, so the only thing that comes to mind is that the surfing speed on the same one is perhaps a bit higher than on Tor, which can be really slow - I think that on the Android version of Tor there is no option for the new Tor circuit.
1402  Economy / Reputation / Re: AI Spam Report Reference Thread on: August 15, 2023, 10:52:09 AM
This user is new and has just 9 posts and out of those 9 posts he has one post that is detected as AI generated text. I'm reporting that post of the user as of now, and if in future the user continues to post more AI generated content then I will surely report those as well.

I don't think there's much doubt that this user uses AI or plagiarizes from multiple sources, and it's enough to look at the last two topics he opened. If you have already reported him, I suggest that you also check his latest achievements and report to moderator.

What's wrong with btcchamp88. Some newbies behave so strange.

Maybe it's strange to you, but it's nothing new and honestly it doesn't deserve to be discussed as a special problem that this forum has. What every user of the forum can do is to report such topics to moderators if he thinks there are grounds for it (low value topic, thread spam, using AI or plagiarism...) or simply abstain and not participate in such discussions.

It is not surprising that some people come to this forum for completely different reasons than because they are interested in Bitcoin or any meaningful discussion. Fortunately, most people quickly realize that such a method of communication does not produce any results, so they will either give up or receive a permanent ban.
1404  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: [WARNING] Wallets created with Libbitcoin Explorer (bx) are insecure! on: August 14, 2023, 02:46:33 PM
According to the security firm Distrust, at least ~$900k was stolen on multiple chains.

Until it reaches at least $1 million, it won't appear in the mainstream media, and maybe not even then, considering that such things have become quite common in the world of cryptocurrencies. All this that is happening is just proof that no matter how safe something seems, we should always question whether there is a loophole in the system that hackers will use sooner or later.

Similar problems were also found with the two well-known multi-coin wallets Cake Wallet and Binance's Trust Wallet. Especially Trust Wallet in particular is likely to be used by many forum members due to its aggressive marketing by Binance. Another reason to withdraw your coins from any Binance product.

I even have some dust in the Trust wallet, although I don't see that this altcoin is currently in danger, and even if it is, I'm somehow too lazy to send it to another wallet. I guess I apply to myself that unwritten rule "invest (or in this case save) only as much as you are ready to lose"
1405  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should the Bitcoin community be concerned about BlackRock? on: August 14, 2023, 01:17:07 PM
Man, Blackrock is so loaded that they could probably corner the market in bitcoin if they wanted to (though I haven't checked what BTC's market cap is in a while).
~snip~

Let's say that the BTC marketcap is approximately x20 smaller than what BR manages, but maybe money is not the most important thing in that story, but the influence BR has and the reputation it enjoys in the highest circles of politics, and not only those in the US. However, I ask myself how it is that if the success of their request is viewed with a large dose of optimism, the market does not react in the way it should react, that is, the price has been static for months and behaves as in the case of waiting for past halvings.

I am not referring to small investors who mostly do not understand the difference between futures and spot ETFs, but to those who obviously understand it very well, but for some reason do not think that now is the right time to invest in BTC. The only logical explanation for me is that they are also waiting for some unequivocal sign that the bull run is starting before they direct significant funds into BTC.
1406  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading with Quantum Computing and AI on: August 14, 2023, 11:00:38 AM
The OP is more than obviously the owner of that site or part of the team behind the project, as it is quite clearly visible from his posts. All those promises that everyone can make a quick and easy profit only if they use AI are actually just completely false illusions that sooner or later break into pieces.

As things stand, soon we will all become rich literally doing nothing, of course all thanks to AI and quantum computers - maybe today is the time to ask AI what the winning lottery numbers are and buy myself a tropical island for retirement days Cool
1407  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should the Bitcoin community be concerned about BlackRock? on: August 14, 2023, 10:31:37 AM
I am of the opinion that perhaps we should not be so worried as cautious, for the reason that it is, after all, a world-renowned and respectable company. However, I also believe that for them (as well as many others) Bitcoin is nothing more than a means to make a profit, which means that they will do everything to make that profit, regardless of all the possible negative consequences for Bitcoin.

However, the fact that the Bitcoin community has been talking about BlackRock for months (mostly positively) speaks in favor of the fact that for the majority it is not too important what and how BR will work if they get approval, but whether they will succeed in pumping up the price of BTC so that many can reach their exit point.

Unfortunately, we have long moved away from the most important reason for which Bitcoin was created, so the question arises whether we should now worry about what many have been wishing for for years, which is that the biggest players join the game.
1408  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hello, I'm new here. on: August 14, 2023, 10:00:35 AM
I would like to think that it is different, but somehow it seems to me that these days we have a lot more newbies who do not seem unique to me, not only in the way they think when it comes to Bitcoin, but also in the sense that they are not very innovative (and not even smart) when choosing their names. The term "smart" seems to be quite popular these days Roll Eyes

Let me use this medium to retroduce my self again, I'm smartgoat.
~snip~

And then straight from the B&H newbie writes a post like this, really smart, right?

Of course I'm not saying that the OP is someone's alt account, but the methods people use to build alt farms on this forum are getting more and more cunning. Therefore, I would recommend that you be careful with merits until you are sure that the user is a unique person who has sincere intentions.

Will Bitcoin do to Bank what email did to the post office?

No matter how optimistic anyone is when it comes to Bitcoin, the answer is that it won't happen, and there are very good reasons for that.

First of all, banks have existed for thousands of years and are powerful enough to defend themselves against any competition, especially from something like Bitcoin. The majority of people in the world do not understand or do not want Bitcoin, and they have shown this from 2009 until today, and I do not believe that this will change in the next 10 or 20 years (and probably more).

People who think that Bitcoin is something that should or must change the world are living in the illusion, because it is only an alternative for those who want to try something new that did not exist before. For most people, financial sovereignty or independence from banks is not and will not be an option, because the average Joe will never see the advantage Bitcoin has over his plastic card and the PIN he uses it with.

When you already mention post offices, in some countries it is possible to sell and buy BTC in such offices, so regardless of the fact that people no longer send postcards, post offices are adapting to new conditions, and there should be no doubt that banks do nothing when it comes to adjustments.
1410  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What Bitcoin Phase are we on: August 13, 2023, 10:47:51 AM

What Bitcoin Phase are we currently at?

I will offer a slightly different answer than what would be expected in a topic like this.

Given that the majority of members (as well as the OP) are constantly looking for some starting/exit points and try to orientate themselves in relation to profit, they completely ignore the phase we are in if the majority has consciously accepted that we are served with some crazy theories about the fact that it is normal and acceptable to share our private keys (seed) and still pay a monthly fee for it.

Given that the OP in some way supports the company that does this (posting a link is a form of support), I chose this type of answer to ask myself what stage of mind we are in when they sell us stories that even the most naive people should not accept.
1411  Other / Meta / Re: Whats your take on adding 2FA key as a Bitcointalk account security features. on: August 13, 2023, 10:15:37 AM
Oh no!
You mean you are that strong to have about 20 random character as password?
I never thought of that maybe I was thinking password is only limited to 8 to 12 characters,  though you are right I don't see any reason of constantly changing password if someone already choose a solid one that could not be easily accessible by someone.

I believe that a password of 20 random characters is more than enough in the sense that it cannot be broken by force in a very long period of time. I can't say if there is a limit to the number of password characters on BTT, but I don't think that's the case, considering that no one should be restricted from setting a password that is impossible to crack.

However I don't think an active account could have that slime chance of getting hacked just like that, so far I never witnessed where an active is being stolen from the original owner.

I know of several cases of active members who were hacked (even Hero&Legendary members), but considering that there is a method of proving ownership, hacking a BTT account is one thing, and keeping it is something else entirely.
1412  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is there a possibility to Fix Neutral Trust? on: August 12, 2023, 02:24:02 PM
If someone has been on the forum since 2017 and has not yet learned that it is completely wrong (and punishable) to present someone else's work as one's own, and in addition only regrets it when he is caught in the act - I think the matter is more than clear.

I've found this forum an excellent place to share information, and I really feel that way...
~snip~

Thank you, but I and many others are really not interested in what AI thinks, it is not sharing information but simply rewriting. You can be happy if this whole situation doesn't end with someone leaving you negative feedback, or if you don't get a permanent ban.
1413  Other / Meta / Re: Whats your take on adding 2FA key as a Bitcointalk account security features. on: August 12, 2023, 01:32:17 PM
I have nothing against additional security when it comes to our BTT accounts, but I wonder to what extent even 2FA would protect those who behave carelessly in protecting their private data. As we know, most CEX (perhaps even all of them) have some type of 2FA, but even such accounts are often hacked, because no one should be fooled that 2FA is some kind of ultimate solution for absolute security.

To protect and increase your account security regularly changing of passwords can also help to improve your account safety. security.
~snip~

If I have a strong password that consists of, say, 20+ random characters, and if that same password is stored in a way that I'm sure it's accessible only to me, what's the point of regularly changing the password? It can even be counterproductive if you pick up a keylogger in the meantime, and by changing your password you actually compromise yourself.
1414  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would We Pay Taxes When We Don't Exchange Bitcoin for Fiat Anymore? on: August 12, 2023, 12:57:23 PM
~snip~
He complains that his bitcoin just sits in his hard wallet, and he doesn't even know what to do with it.

I would then ask him why he invested in Bitcoin at all if even today he cannot understand exactly what Bitcoin represents. There are thousands of online stores that accept Bitcoin as a means of payment, and there are also cities/countries where you can pay with Bitcoin.

According to him, his fear is that if he sells it during the next bull run, he will be taxed, and he doesn't want that. A question arises:

Unless the tax is insanely high, I don't see what the problem is that he pays income tax in any amount from 10% to 20% and then carelessly enjoys the profit he made. It seems to me that his fear stems from the fact that there is no evidence of how he came into possession of those Bitcoins, and in that case the fear of taxes is fully justified because it is no longer just taxes, but also some other things.

Would taxes still be applicable if a time comes when exchanging bitcoin for fiat is no longer necessary?

It depends on how his country treats payment with Bitcoin, and for example in the US every payment with Bitcoin was a tax event (if something has not changed in the meantime), while most EU countries have their own rules. In theory, every BTC -> Fiat conversion, whether it's about trading or paying for goods/services, would mean that there is a need to pay taxes - although on the other hand, I pay value add tax every time I pay something with BTC and it wouldn't be logically that I also have to pay some additional tax just because I paid with Bitcoin.

Ok, it is not a big sum for me, I just want to warn the community. Anyway they will loose more on reputation.
Have a good day for all!

Regardless of your claim that it's not an amount that means anything to you, I still wouldn't waste money so easily without first checking who I'm sending the money to. Considering that you have been involved in all this for more than 10 years, I am surprised that you have put yourself in such a situation - although if you were to repeat the same thing with any CEX, each of them would ask you to prove the origin of the funds, because for most of them it is still a significant amount of money.

Technically speaking, they are not the ones to blame, because it is up to you to prove where the $100k came from.

This is completely wrong thinking, because you are obviously under the influence of someone who filled your head with ideas about how Bitcoin is some kind of magical internet money and that there is a forum where you get that same Bitcoin just for writing some posts. Considering that it took you a week to find this board (if we assume that you actively used the forum), then you should first learn how to use the forum, and then you can learn all the basics of Bitcoin in a very short time.

If you are interested in anything (including Bitcoin), there is a very useful feature called search engine, just type what you are interested in and hit enter Wink

I guess you're right, because for someone who can afford to pay for a smartphone over 1000 EUR or even for some foldable models over 2000 EUR, that 76 EUR seems like a real trifle.

1419  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Huobi - the new trouble spot of the crypto world ? on: August 11, 2023, 03:08:08 PM
When I see the words "China, USDT, Tron, Justin Sun" in a post, I can only say that all this can only turn out to be a mess, although not something of the magnitude as with De Kwon or FTX. Some would certainly like this to be one big negative news that would drop the price of BTC by 20-30%, but I don't think that Huobi is something that has a big impact, and I don't think that USDT is something that can collapse just like that, except in case that the US and some other powerful governments get involved.

~snip~
The community should learn from this and stop supporting scammers and looking to finance new pump and dump ponzi schemes

People simply do not care what it is about as long as there is a chance to make a profit, and considering that investing in BTC is no longer as profitable as before, there is no need to doubt that support for various crypto projects will continue. Millions of naive and gullible seekers of easy money dig for some digital gold every day in front of their small screens, and that's exactly what makes people like Justin Sun rich.

cmon guys no one read my post as it should !!!
it was suggesting

What you propose would completely nullify the existence of the merit system, returning us to the time when for a higher rank it was only necessary to be active and write any posts. If for 20 posts of poor quality you get 1 merit, for 50 you get 2 merits and so on, where does it end?

The merits system exists precisely to prevent shitposters and account farmers from doing what they did before that system existed.

I suggest that you read the forum rules before you start giving advice, because you have already broken one rule.

32. Posting multiple posts in a row (excluding bumps and reserved posts by the thread starter) is not allowed.
