2361  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is the significant of bitcoin halving on: April 06, 2023, 10:54:38 AM
1. Bitcoin is a long-term investment, there is no get-rich-quick scheme investing in Bitcoin.

Bitcoin was not created to be something that people invest in at price X and then sell at price Y - because if we all think like that, then Bitcoin will fail in the future. Given that the majority of investors have their exit price, and that there are those who have so much money that they can buy most of the BTC that will be offered on the market - will we have a situation in 10 or 15 years where most of the coin will be in the hands of a few dozen companies or rich individuals?

3. If you accumulate Bitcoin in a bear market, there will be no need to worry about price fluctuations.

Maybe that is true, maybe not - because past events do not guarantee that the past will repeat itself and that those who invest today will not have "problems" with volatility.
2362  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ultimate (simple) guide on when to buy Bitcoin. on: April 06, 2023, 10:36:18 AM
if you were starting buyng bitcoin when it Was at 60000, now probably you were not happy.

Those who buy in the middle of a bull market or near the end have their own fault if they are unhappy today, and if they don't understand some things, the same thing will happen to them again in a few years. For those who want to invest long-term (at least 2-3 years), the best time has already passed considering that the price was below $20 000 for months, but the second best time is right now and in the months to come.

In general, looking at the situation of buying at $20k or $28k considering the potential growth, there is not too much difference, and I mean those who invest smaller amounts and their possible profit will not decrease significantly. For those who buy 1 BTC or maybe 0.5 BTC, of course there is a difference because it is about $10k or $5k that they could have saved, but for the majority who invest a few hundred $ a few $ savings will not mean a big difference.
2363  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Another scam email attempt on: April 06, 2023, 10:23:06 AM
Initially I haven't checked his address because I thought that he would make new address for each potential victim. Now I looked into it - now it's empty, but it received in total over 0.024 BTC in 2 transactions.

Then at least one thing is clear, and that is that the scammer does not use a unique BTC address for each victim, because that would mean tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of unique BTC addresses and editing every e-mail that is sent. You can also check if the e-mail was sent only to you, or if it contains multiple recipients.

Where exactly I can report this address? I saw similar kind of websites, but now I don't remember their names.

There are more of them and they are easy to find through search engines, for example 1, or 2.
2364  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Another attempt at Bitcoin ETF..You knew it was coming once BTC raised above ATH on: April 05, 2023, 03:40:01 PM
ETF is not mentioned anywhere in the text, so regardless of the fact that VanEck is very optimistic when it comes to Bitcoin and gold, I wonder if the big players have already somewhat given up on spot ETFs? In the past years, a lot of dust was raised about this, even though the SEC was very firm in its positions, and somehow it seems to me that this will not change until the people who make the decisions change.
2365  Economy / Speculation / Re: When do you think Bitcoin will hit $1 million for the first time? on: April 05, 2023, 03:21:19 PM
We can only guess and nothing more than that, but I personally don't think it can happen in this decade. Of course, I take into account everything that has happened so far and some possible scenarios that could happen in the following years. Given that we live in a world that is changing drastically, all options are possible, but for the price of BTC to reach $1 million, some very positive things should happen that are not too likely to happen.

By this I mean the possibility that some serious central banks start buying Bitcoin, and that some big companies join them, which would cause a great demand, and we know that this would launch the price into the sky. Whether and when the central bank will make such a move is impossible to predict at the moment, but it is enough for one to move in that direction and the others will follow.

I am of the opinion that some things will be much clearer in about ten years when 99% of all BTC will be mined, and that halvings after that (maybe even before) will not have the same impact as today. Of course, all this is assuming that people are not destroyed by the third world war or that we are not conquered by artificial intelligence.
2366  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin open source wallets that support replace-by-fee (RBF) on: April 05, 2023, 02:54:43 PM
Click on 'Pump fee'.

In fact, it is "Bump fee" if we are to be precise, and that is what it says on the sample screen you posted Wink

I was thinking I will be able to pump the fee on mobile Bluewallet, but unfortunately I was not able to. Or is there anything I am getting wrong?

The matter should have been quite simple if you want to bump the fee of your transaction, the RBF option is enabled and you have enough funds to increase the fee. I've never had that wallet, but here's their little tutorial -> BlueWallet RBF
2367  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Another scam email attempt on: April 05, 2023, 11:06:14 AM
@LTU_btc, have you perhaps checked the BTC address that was sent to you to pay the ransom for your alleged sins? It's already an old trick, but I'm really interested to see if scammers get away with it these days, even though I know that sometimes they send payments to themselves in order to convince potential victims that others are also paying.

In addition to the fact that such messages should be reported as spam, it would be good to report BTC addresses to some of the sites that collect exactly such addresses associated with various BTC scams - maybe someone will check the address and see that the whole story is fake.
2368  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin open source wallets that support replace-by-fee (RBF) on: April 05, 2023, 10:54:14 AM
When making a transaction, make sure the checkbox for "Final" is left blank (this is its default setting). This will enable RBF. Then, if you need to bump your fee, on the "History" tab you simply tap on your unconfirmed transaction, tab "Options" at the bottom left, and then select "Bump fee" and choose your new fee.

I would just like to add that the procedure does not end with choosing a new fee and signing the transaction, but the final step is to send the transaction by clicking on the "broadcast" button. I know it seems simple and logical, but some users simply overlook the final step and wonder why that option doesn't work for them.

AFAIK there are only two admins on bitcointalk so who is the remaining 3. Huh

If you had read a few posts before you answered, then it would have been clear to you that the OP is wrong and that there are not 5 admins, but that the other 3 are actually global moderators. It is true that all of them are listed as administrators in the report form, and if you want to see exactly who it is, go to your private messages and click on any report link "report to admin". There you will get a menu where you can see what it is actually about.
2370  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ultimate (simple) guide on when to buy Bitcoin. on: April 05, 2023, 10:13:43 AM
Before anyone realizes that the OP is serious in what he writes, you should read some of the previous threads he opened and see that his assumptions are mostly wrong. From the fact that the price of BTC will remain below $22 000 for a long time, to the fact that it will "very likely" fall towards $15 000.

~snip~
So, to recap everything I said here: if you just don't care about timing and want to buy Bitcoin, then start buying it right now (but only by DCA), and if you care about timing and want to take a risk to get bigger gains, then wait for the FED to start lowering rates and for the economy to become better.

Those who invest in Bitcoin should not make their decisions based on what central banks are doing, especially not waiting for interest rates to decrease and for the economy to experience some sort of recovery. Even if this happens and money becomes cheaper, it means that the demand for BTC will increase and that will push the price up - and then what logic is there in waiting to invest? Your advice is actually bad and you have been misleading people for months.
2371  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: bitcoin can be made efficient and less energy consuming? on: April 04, 2023, 04:58:20 PM
how can Bitcoin be made more efficient and secure without using too much electricity ?,

the current way of confirming transactions, called "proof of work" , uses a lot of energy, so may many people are looking for other ways to do it. is there are some other ways we could do it ? ,

Too much/lot of energy are just empty words if you don't have some objective data to show. When you read various articles that claim that Bitcoin consumes too much energy, do they say that this share is 0.5%. maybe 1% or 5% of the total electricity consumption? According to some data, energy losses at the world level in one year are about 50 000 TWh, and someone correct me if I'm wrong, Bitcoin does not consume more than 300 TWh per year at the moment.

It may seem like a lot, but in fact it is not, and I will ask the question : "Would the world be a nicer and greener place if those 300 TWh were consumed by banks, Christmas and New Year lights, or if they were simply lost in the grid?"
2372  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: (Bitcoin payment success) 3-month statistics on: April 04, 2023, 04:42:06 PM
@Dr.Bitcoin_Strange, congratulations on a successful start to the year, and I hope that the rest of the year will be just as successful or even better for you and your customers. My opinion is that people should always be given as many choices as possible when paying, and Bitcoin is only one of the options that should be offered, especially if such a payment method does not cause any extra costs for you.

I will appreciate some more suggestions and help, because I don't believe I could have done these without all your help.
Also, for my friends who want to accept Bitcoin payments, is it wise to advise them to go ahead with it?
I have been maintaining a 10% discount for those who pay with Bitcoin; is it okay if I stop the discount now?

As for your friends, I think your experience can be of great help to them, of course if you explain to them what are the advantages and what are the risks when receiving payments in Bitcoin. I would not push anyone into something by force, even if I was good at something, but I would help them if they really want to do it.

As for the discount, I would personally keep it if you can afford it, because that's how you actually attract customers to pay with Bitcoin - although you can reduce it to 5% for one month or try to see what would happen if you completely remove it.
2373  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Ledger hacked, 30 BTC stolen on 04/02/2023 on: April 04, 2023, 03:51:48 PM
~snip~
It's a good lesson for all of us to keep in mind while helping others. You can tell people to get a hardware wallet, you can explain to them how to do things, now here is another thing you can point to when telling them to keep their seed safe.

If someone had told the OP not to keep the seed the way he did, maybe he would have kept it on paper and at some point he would have lost that paper, or one of his friends or people he lives with would have found it. Some people never understand, no matter how much someone explains to them, they think that Bitcoin is like some kind of bank that will compensate them for a loss if it happens.

I would even advise people to strengthen their backup with a passphrase, but for some it is an even bigger complication, especially if you tell them that the seed and passphrase should be kept separately. In any case, a properly stored backup is the most important thing, regardless of what kind of crypto wallet it is.

What is the significant of bitcoin halving

Regardless of the other questions asked by the OP, I think that what he is most interested in is still contained in the title. What we know is that the halving happens every 210 000 blocks, which is approximately every 4 years, and that the reward for miners is halved by 50% at that moment. We also know from a short (but meaningful Bitcoin history) that the price of Bitcoin has increased significantly after each halving, and it is possible that this will happen even after the halving in 2024.

That event therefore, in my opinion, has a certain psychological dimension, because investors expect a large profit, while on the other hand, miners have less and less influence on the market, considering that they "produce" less and less new BTC.

The current calculation says that about 900 BTC is mined daily (on average 1 block every 10 minutes - 144 blocks x 6.25 = 900 BTC x 30 days = 27 000 per month), which is not an amount that can significantly influence the market, where there are already 19+ million BTC. In about ten years, halving will no longer be so important because 99% of all BTC will have already been mined, and the 1% will remain for the next 100+ years.
2375  Other / Meta / Re: How to add your Bitcointalk profile to your homescreen on: April 04, 2023, 10:16:36 AM
I understand that everyone here is trying to protect their bitcoin talk account, but I can tell you that nobody cares for your account because I don't think giving your phone to someone for a couple of minutes and the person will hack your account, no the person will not hack your account,

It's not just about whether someone will (or won't) hack your BTT account (or any other) while they have access to your device, it's also about protecting your privacy. It is true that your account in terms of rank and reputation is not worth much, but some other accounts for hackers would certainly have a significant value if they could be hacked and be in their possession for at least a few hours.

I can use my self for instance, nobody knows what am doing with my cellphone people always think am chatting with someone or playing video game with my cell phone.
More importantly, is not good to share your cell phone with friends, especially the ones that contain your important details.

You may think that no one knows, but do you know who is looking over your shoulder - whether you are sitting on a bench or riding a bus, there are always curious people. If you are already giving your smartphone to someone, today most of them have the option of locking each individual app, so that no one can access anything you don't want them to see.
2376  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Ledger hacked, 30 BTC stolen on 04/02/2023 on: April 04, 2023, 09:50:37 AM
Your case just shows how wrong those who think that buying a hardware wallet will solve all their problems when it comes to the security of their digital assets are wrong. Unfortunately, sooner or later they all pay the price of their ignorance and finance various hackers who live a luxurious life with their money.

For 30 BTC, I would certainly make an effort to report everything to the police, so that I can at least hope that the hackers will be found one day. Even if they used a VPN, it does not mean that they are completely protected, their real IP address could be found out through a court order. Furthermore, if it is about inexperienced hackers, there is always the possibility that they will make a mistake, but in order for there to be a chance that someone will discover it, the first thing is to report it to the police and have a forensic examination of the hacked computer.
2377  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: are you still strong holding btc on: April 03, 2023, 03:03:28 PM
as we know today btc is in the range of 28000, and i was very lucky to be able to buy btc when the price was still low, and now if i sell it i have a profit but if i sell it now i'm afraid i won't be able to
buying from the bottom again
,, and I'm currently struggling to hold btc so I don't sell it,

If you need the money now, then don't hesitate too much about whether you should sell or not - because you yourself claim that you bought when the price was low. If you don't need money and believe that the price will be even higher next year, then forget about everything for at least one year.

I personally would not sell at this moment if I were only focused on profit, because a few months ago (but also now) is perhaps the best time to invest, given the assumptions that the price will rise significantly next year after the halving. Of course, this is all just speculation and it doesn't have to be like that, so everyone has to decide what to do and at what time.
2378  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you consider Bitcoin the best asset in the world? on: April 03, 2023, 02:23:42 PM
There is no way you could compared bitcoin to ethereum, bitcoin is more trusted, secure and reliable than any other altcoin out there usually i don't even give attention to those coin. In some special cases if there were no bitcoin as option then i have to go for Ethereum, BNB, Matic.

I completely agree with the first part, because it has nothing to do with each other, not only because one coin uses POW, and the other has moved to POS, but also because Bitcoin has a very low max supply (compared to the mentioned token) which owes its popularity (and price) precisely to the fact that it has unlimited supply and at least for now x6 times more coins on the market. There is no trust, decentralization, meaningful use, but everything depends on one man who wants to compete with Bitcoin, and for 8 years he has not succeeded in doing so.

As for the other one you mentioned, I personally wouldn't invest a single cent in something like that, although I don't want to influence anyone else in what they do with their money.

Regarding the OP's question, I think that people should primarily look at Bitcoin as a cryptocurrency and use it as much as possible, and only then invest in it as an asset. Otherwise, it all boils down to when you will buy and when you will sell - which is still a big mystery for most.
2379  Economy / Services / Re: FREE/PAY BITCOIN TRANSACTION ACCELERATOR on: April 03, 2023, 10:43:34 AM
can anyone help me with this, unfortunately I have sent too few fees, the transaction number is,

Your transaction is marked as RBF (replace by fee), and considering that you are the sender, you can simply bump the fee to 4 or 5 sat/vB to get confirmation of your transaction in the next 2 blocks. If you need additional help on how to make RBF, you can search online, or contact me via PM.
2380  Other / Meta / Re: Is Possible to withdraw report to moderator? on: April 03, 2023, 10:14:20 AM
I know, we can appeal by clicking the button report to admin on a personal message, but i never used it yet, I don't know how it works because there is 5 admin, and I still don't know which one should i choose.

There are only 2 admins, the rest are global moderators. In the context of what you wrote, I don't understand why you would use that option at all, because the "report to admin" option serves to report another member's personal message if there is a need for it. So in the event that someone sent you a message that contains inappropriate or malicious content, which could be a death threat, blackmail, a link to a virus/malware or something similar.
