Isn't it the amount being created compared to the amount already existing which the block reward changes and which does influence price, rather than the total number of coins which exist at any given point?
There are much more factors, and who knows how traders psychology is going to make them act. Are they going to dump, do they like to hold, etc... I think it's completely wrong to try and see a formula for success when all is pretty much psychology. I wouldn't mess with the coin block reward AT ALL. |

I think it's a bad idea... you should never change a coin to "satisfy the market"....
Numbers are completely arbitrary anyway... what if we have 10 million or 10 billion coins, it's just a question of decimal place.
We will probably vote for it manually on a thread on coinzen.. Its not about satisfying market its about trying to bring in some sort of scarcity which is scalable to not choke the system when more people enter it. The number of coins is fine when therr are sufficient people onboard but with so little people getting all the coins its not good imo.. Anyways its something we can agree or disagree as a community. But scarcity in this case is purely mathematical, and is a relative factor anyway? Meaning it's exactly the same to have 1000 coins (of 1 billion) being valued 1$ each, or to have 1 coin (of 1 million) being valued 1000 $. The amount of coins has nothing to do with its price discovery. Having fewer coins will not suddenly make devcoin overall more valuable, will it? The marketcap will not change at all. |

So probably myriad just hasn't enough buyers yet.
Not because it doesn't have enough merit to be valuable to people.
It's just that people don't get it yet... because it's like one dimension more complex than most other coins... right?
I think part of it is the self-fulfilling prophecy that day-traders perpetuated about inflation. Myriad is made for the long run, there'll be time to buy back they say. Well, they better not miss the chance, but when ideas spread like this it almost doesn't matter if they are true or not, they cause the heard mentality. But either way, we are doing things to market Myriad to brand new markets. Nobody is giving up. It actually is the opposite for MYR when the prices dip--we start working harder. Good points. Well, what do they say, you should buy when there is blood on the streets. You can't really go wrong with some coins that are at all-time-lows now.... either you'll loose a little money, or you'll make a fortune. Sounds like a nice opportunity to me. How much you think it would cost to have Kristov Atlas on the dev team for a year? 50,000 drk? 25,000?
0 Once the core DS+ code is open sourced, there will be way more contributors with Evan having the good authority to merge pull requests since this was started by him. Have you checked Github to see even now there are growing number of contributors? There will be CVEs down the road make no mistake. It will receive contributions from cryptographers, programmers and analysts alike. Bitcoin devs don't necessarily have a lot of coins. Except Gavin and perhaps gmax, but there have been a ton of contributors to the code. There is an incredible visualization/animation on youtube, that shows a time lapse of how the github of bitcoin evolved over time and what developers worked on it:  another similar visualisation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dTILX-_JzTsSomeone could perhaps create something like this once involvement of other devs in darkcoin really takes of... Looks great but I don't think the "azacoin" font goes with that M - JMHO
I tend to agree with you... I would even go as far as to make the "Mazacoin accepted here" label as much as possible similar to the "bitcoin accepted here" labels. Simply new colors and new logo, ... or probably only a new logo  I think that would be important so that mazacoin could integrate into already existing label walls. |
