2381  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain error? on: May 16, 2013, 01:07:44 PM
Hello,

There is something I don't understand. The blockchain info about my address seems to be incorrect. On blockchain.info it says my wallet has "0.09757067 BTC" (http://blockchain.info/fb/13ev7gx) but my wallet says "0.10787141 BTC".

Also the blockchain says that I sent .02 BTC on 2013-05-15 but I actually only sent .01 BTC.

Can anyone explain this to me?

because you have more than 1 address in your wallet, and some are hidden (i.e. change address)

So someone intentionally made false declaration when opening a bank account.

Why should anyone be concerned about Mtgox's  observance of the law when the government obviously doesn't pay any attention to it either?

Because the gov has ballistic missile, mtgox does not

So someone intentionally made false declaration when opening a bank account. That's illegal anyway, no matter it's related to btc or not

LOL. With a CEO being totally ignorant towards bitcoin (and thinking something like AMEX points will replace it), I would be very surprised if Eurasia Group is still around in 10 years.

2391  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Dealing with SHA-256 Collisions on: May 14, 2013, 06:29:50 AM
Correct me if i'm wrong!

You are wrong.  If Bitcoin was using (double) MD5 for its proof-of-work hashing algorithm, we'd be just fine.

How about having 2 valid blocks with same hash?

How can you? The blcokheader, other than the nonce, has deterministic data in it, no?

Arbitrary data could also be added to coinbase or transaction scripts.

2393  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: 0.8.2rc1 ready for testing on: May 13, 2013, 04:14:05 AM
Is there a risk for a new fork chain ?
0.8.2 does not obviously have any high consensus-consistency risk changes.

People thought the same when 0.8 was released.  Wink

EDIT: this comment is not accurate. see below

The Tony Coleby chart is a magnificent thing, but this less pretty one seems to make it clear that -outside of bubble data - there is a very clear underlying growth trend in the market. It would have the price much much lower than it is now. Unless this bubble changed something that the 2011 bubble failed to, then things look very (very) scary for the price still.

2396  Other / Meta / Re: Newbie restriction should be revisited on: May 11, 2013, 03:28:49 PM
It's a good filter for people who want to instantly get on the forums and start posting.  Have you spent any time looking in the newbie section?  If they were allowed to post anywhere right off the start there would be so much clutter.

The big part of the restriction is the 4 hours online time, that's what helps the most IMO.

So please just retain the 4 hours requirement, not the post requirement. You may not read Chinese but I can tell you the sub-forum is really awful, full of trolling and begging newbies. They just stop once 10 posts are made.

We probably do really only need the time limit, the posting requirement does lead to spam.

The Chinese forum becomes really bad now. Newbies revitalized all 2011 posts just to make 10 posts. Please stop it, or I have to ignore the whole Chinese forum..
2397  Local / 中文 (Chinese) / 開一個中文newbie專區, 然後把這裏封掉不讓newbie發言 on: May 10, 2013, 01:53:27 PM

You can only post in the Newbie and Local sub-forums till you have 5 posts and at least 4 hours on the forum.  The other two restrictions are you need 1 post to be able to send a PM and 10 posts to put a link in your sig.

Since this restriction does not apply to Chinese sub-forum, there are so many stupid and meaningless newbie messages there, just to circumvent this restriction.

At the end of the day, how this restriction useful if people could just make 10 stupid posts in 10 minutes? It just increases the server's burden for absolutely nothing.
