How much more BTC would we need to buy CoinTerra?

About 50 BTC
2382  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [OPEN] Diversified Group Buy [KNC/BitFury/VMC/HashFast] [Maybe:Cointerra] on: August 21, 2013, 12:31:42 PM
xCrowd has been removed from the list of potential investments. It seems that by far the majority of the group does not want to invest in their products.

That leaves us with either Cointerra or HashFast as our next investment. I am suggesting HashFast because of their miner protection plan. If Cointerra delays then we are essentially screwed, but if HashFast delays then at least we get free chips to make up for it.

Does my reasoning make sense?
2383  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: BFL was a SCAM from the beginning -EXT HDD case being sold as a miner in 2011. on: August 21, 2013, 12:00:12 PM
Re: huge wall of text

tl;dr

I was just pointing out that people that have only been around for a few months don't understand the full picture, and haven't given themselves ample enough time to get screwed by BFL- that's all.
2384  Economy / Securities / Re: Cloudhashing ASIC mining contracts,-UK LTD company on: August 21, 2013, 11:49:22 AM
So let me get this right:

You have ordered 4 machines in total that cost about $120k.

They produce a total of 6T/Hash (allegedly).

You are selling 5 G/Hash indefinitely for $1k each.

In total therefore you are asking up to $1m for something you paid $120k for.

These machines don't even exist and have never even been proven to have existed.

Quite brilliant - well done!

Exactly... even if he is not a "scammer" in the true sense of the word (which I'm not fully convinced he isn't yet), he is still a scammer for his price gouging.

Taking money from innocent newbies that don't realize they are paying way too much per Gh AND they will get the hardware AFTER almost everyone else that already has preordered when the difficulty is sky high. On top of that, he is pushing the fact that BFL will have these out by June... anyone that knows anything about BFL knows that is not going to happen.

No one is going to make any money on this other than cloudhashing themselves.

I stand by my previous assessment. I told you 4 months ago BFL was not going to ship when you were expecting them to. This should not be a surprise to you.

Also, where are you sourcing 110 Th in September? Avalon chips?  Roll Eyes

Oh jeez... don't get me started..
2385  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Bitfury ASIC sales in EU and Europe on: August 21, 2013, 11:38:02 AM

o.O so pretty!

So I would say shipping starts next week as scheduled.
That is wonderful!
2386  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: BFL was a SCAM from the beginning -EXT HDD case being sold as a miner in 2011. on: August 21, 2013, 11:01:52 AM
I love all these yahoos that are defending BFL, notice how they've been around for less than 4 months.. some of them only 2. They have yet to be scammed by BFL, so just let them blow their hot air.

Make sure to report back to us on the success of your BFL orders and all those BTCs you made...  Cheesy Wink
2387  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: BFL was a SCAM from the beginning -EXT HDD case being sold as a miner in 2011. on: August 21, 2013, 09:14:53 AM

I was a Scam from the beginning, and smart one for Josh.

So, dumb-ass, are all those people mining with Jalapenos/Little Singles/whatever lying?  Is the network hash rate going up because of these non-existent scam miners?

So what if it took longer than expected?  They're shipping now, and people are getting their products and mining with them.  Yes, they've been less than transparent, but is there any wonder?  The amount of bickering, complaining, trolling and lies being directed to BFL is shocking.

The amount of email they must get from whiners who email every hour on the hour because they've had to wait, who then complain because they don't get a reply for 2 weeks.  Here's an idea, brainiacs, don't email every nanosecond, then they won't have 40,000 emails an hour to wade through.

2388  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Who here already pre-ordered the Monarch 28 nm Bitcoin mining card ??? on: August 20, 2013, 05:16:45 PM
Wait... let me get this straight... now people are complaining that I'm giving an estimate on when you'll receive your product if you order now and I'm not being optimistic enough about it, immediately after complaining that my previous estimates were too optimistic?  And ya'll wonder why people think some of you are completely insane.

Go away idiot.  Tongue  Roll Eyes

Call for institutional pricing  Roll Eyes  -- Know 3 people that left message for Dave (self included) and no return call

48 hours later -- oh yeah - we are full now - F' off

We (the BTC mining community) have a sick relationship with BFL  Grin

lol, I was about to contact them about this. Thanks for saving my time!

I hope other ASIC companies are taking notes.

Thanks Dave for keeping us up to date!
2391  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: CoinTerra Unveils a 2TH/s ASIC Bitcoin Miner : TerraMiner IV on: August 20, 2013, 04:44:20 PM
At current prices if they are late one month (which as we've seen thus far in ASIC R&D that is very possible) then they will not ROI. I don't get how Cointerra thinks this is a good deal... I may still purchase one in my diversified group buy.. just to diversify a little more, but nothing like I would have ordered had they been looking out for their customers when deciding prices.  Sad

Cointerra needs a miner protection program and I'll get free chips if they're late. If Cointerra is late, all I'll get is a loss of half my investment.  Lips sealed
2392  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] xCrowd*US/UK*TH/s+ Units on: August 20, 2013, 04:31:47 PM
xcrowd is just a laugh. Want to collect millions in orders but have no clue of getting a decent webshop up and running. m(

agreed. Crappy shopping cart and the ordering process/prices is/are very confusing.

I was wondering about the changes in European Bitfury sales page:

Here´s an update from Punin:
Quote
Update

I've added option for UPS Express Saver shipping, and dropped the prices a bit as further october orders will most likely ship in very late october. Those who picked first october orders are likely to receive theirs in very early october, if not september.

Regarding invoices: there was a problem on the site. I will need to send invoices manually. You will get an invoice, don't worry.

I need to sleep now. Shanghai awaits tomorrow. I should have more news for you in about 30 hours.

So should we expecting early October delivery?

I expect us to be in the late October crowd. I would not consider our order as an "early" one.

2396  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: CoinTerra announces its first ASIC - Hash-Rate greater than 500 GH/s on: August 20, 2013, 06:42:06 AM

Cointerra had an opportunity here to be the far and away clear choice for long term mining.  They have effectively missed the boat and I'm admittedly a little bitter about it.

Bingo - Cointerra blew it big time. Great engineering team -- lousy marketers. If they had even been 10 - 15% below the Monarch they would have nailed it. BFL is not a tough act to follow and there are no other producing or prospective US based competitors even close on $/GH level. Completely ridiculous.
It doesn't make since to me. They had the benefit of being one of the last companies on the scene. They could of undercut everyone's prices by 10% and been the easy choice of what to buy in mining hardware. At this point they're just another ASIC company. If they are a month late, then their pre-order customers will lose half of their investment. That's not a good way to start off in this industry, then they'll have their own herd of haters just like BFL.

The thing is these companies don't care. We pay for the expensive R&D and after they're done with that, they don't need us anymore. They can make as many units as they want and self mine if it's more profitable than selling them. All they need us for is to fund the R&D so that they can make ASICs for themselves at cost for the rest of eternity. Everyone seems to be thinking that we're helping out the bitcoin economy by ordering from these companies, but in reality we're just increasing their pocketbooks.

I hate to be the elephant in the room, but any word on August shipments?

I know you guys said late August, but that is approaching quite soon.

Confirmed thanks
2399  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: PREDICTION: A SHA256 ALT coin will become as big a success as Litecoin (1-2Yrs) on: August 20, 2013, 03:52:50 AM
My point is that if a coin is profitable to mine with gen1 ASIC then gen2 ASIC can merge mine it for no additional cost thus making it unprofitable for gen1. Not like Litecoin that can't be mined with SHA256 ASIC.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding your post.

I don't think I explained myself thoroughly in the OP.

When gen1 ASICs become unprofitable, people will be looking for a way to make them profitable again. There will be a huge incentive for someone that wants to create a truly innovative SHA-256 coin. I will lay out the basic business plan here:

1. Buy unprofitable ASICs for pennies on the dollar.
2. Design and develop a ground breaking SHA-256 coin. Better than all ALTs existing and better than Bitcoin itself.
3. Hash power will be split between Bitcoin and this new better alternative by speculators and people that believe in this new coin being better than Bitcoin. The split in hash power will allow the overlay to make gen1 ASICs profitable because hashing power is split in between Bitcoin and this new alternative coin.

For instance, assuming a 66% monthly increase in difficulty, an Avalon will be unprofitable on May 14th when the network difficulty is 4863 million. If half the hash power switches to a new innovative SHA-256 coin, that would effectively bring Bitcoin difficulty down 50% to 2431.5 Million and you're back to making money again. Plus, maybe this new ALT coins is so much better than Bitcoin, that it is more valuable to mine than Bitcoin itself to due to high exchange prices from speculators. So, it could be a greater than 50% reduction in hash power in that case.

I have been right about a few things since I came on these forums and started posting. 1. Litecoin, 2. BFL being shady, I hope these won't be the last either. It is somewhat of a wild prediction, but I like throwing as many conspiracy theories out there and seeing which ones stick. Then I can bump this thread in a year and bump my chest if I'm right.  Cheesy jk (or... not).

Also, it doesn't even have to be a new SHA256 ALT coin. Perhaps a lot of development is done to an existing one to where it is more valuable to the community. Huge market shifts (UP!) in the value of SHA256 ALT coins could dramatically change the profitability of SHA256 mining.
2400  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: PREDICTION: A SHA256 ALT coin will become as big a success as Litecoin (1-2Yrs) on: August 20, 2013, 02:36:20 AM
Don't forget that a simple SHA256 Bitcoin clone can be merge mined alongside Bitcoin like it's the case with Namecoin or Terracoin.
I wasn't referring to merge mined coins when saying "SHA256 Alt Coins." Although, I wouldn't be surprised if one is as successful as Litecoin as well. I think Namecoin is a wonderful idea if fully implemented, also ZeroCoin looks very promising if it can come to fruition.
