241  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain looks like they're releasing a 15GH/s DASH miner called the AntMiner D3 on: August 09, 2017, 04:37:57 PM
Hi guys, i am new on the ASIC scene.
I manage to pre-order 2 D3 + psu from batch 2 ( september delivery )
I have some question, as i understand D3 come like a plug and play, plug power, ethernet and i can manage this one via PHP.
Wath miner this D3 use ?
Can we change this one if another one got better result ? Do that remove the warranty ?
The specs say 25c ambiant, so i need a maximun of 25c temp in the room where the D3 running ?

Plug in an ethernet cable, plug in the power supply connectors to the hashboards and controller board, and then turn on the power supply.  Find the miner on your local network, it should get an IP address through DHCP so you should be able to find out what it is from your router or other DHCP server (depending on the network).

Once you know the IP of the miner type it into a browser and it should get you to the web interface to configure it.  The user name and password should both be the word "root" without the quotes.  Then you can set a static IP if you want and configure your mining pools.  The miner is probably running a modified version of cgminer which will have been modified from the original in violation of the original cgminer license.  The controller board will be running a minimal version of linux.  You cannot really modify any of that unless you can reverse engineer it and you know how to write code and compile it.

The 25 degree ambient is referring to the efficiency of the PSU at that temp.  At higher temps PSU are less efficient so the miner will use more electricity.  I have only owned the SHA antminers so I can't say if the LTC one is different but typically the SHA ones have a cutoff around 90˚C (board temp) where the miner will stop working if it hits that.  Chip temps can and will go higher than that.  Right now it is anyone's guess as to what temps these miners will like.
242  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Campbx always withholding coins with Cold wallet maintenance. on: August 08, 2017, 09:54:16 PM
Bump for this.  CampBX is still limiting withdrawals wit. The excuse "cold wallet maintenence."

Did you ever get your coins?

You are responding to a post that is from 2015.  Don't expect a response.  However you should know that campbx is nothing but a scam now.  If they were ever legit it was for a short time many years ago. You should try opening a complaint with the better business bureau in Georgia and also contact the AG there.

We are pleased to inform you that we will release a new batch of the Antminer D3 at this link at 5 PM, on 10 August, (GMT+8)!

Shipping for this batch will start on a “first paid, first ship” basis after 1 November 2017. If we advance the shipment, we will notify you.

Only BTC and LTC payments are accepted as payment methods for this batch.

New batch of D3s in a couple days.

Seems like Gigawatt did indeed have inside info about bitmain batches.

Was there a link in that email?  If so can someone post it here?
244  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bittrex Account Hacked - 2FA was active on: August 07, 2017, 05:00:55 PM
I can think of at least one far out but possible scenario that would explain all of the details.  If your PC was compromised and something on the PC routed your entire browser session through a proxy controlled by the thief then this should be possible.  The 2fa is time based so the exact same code is good for about 30 seconds. If they routed your browser session through their proxy and then hijacked it man-in-the-middle style and then used a script to initiate withdrawals pretty much on the spot, then the same 2fa code would very likely be valid.  That proxy could also explain why you couldn't load the page for a bit after you logged in.

Are they announcing when these batches go on sale anywhere?  I think I could risk it at the reduced price if another batch came up with the same shipping time frame.
246  Economy / Exchanges / Re: BTC-e hacked ?? on: July 29, 2017, 02:22:51 AM
So far every story I have seen about this in the media just regurgitates the US government line that everyone using BTC-e was a criminal.  I think it might be helpful if one of the larger media outlets were to print a story about how many innocent people who have not only nothing to do with crime, but nothing even to do with the US, basically just had their cryptocurrency stolen by US authorities.  Right now far too many people already think that only criminals have anything to do with bitcoin.  The narrative of this story is basically right in line with the ongoing propaganda about bitcoin.  But the fact is that millions has been stolen from innocent people here and the thieves are going around patting themselves on the back and claiming to be the good guys.  Maybe we should be approaching media outlets with the truth.

I'm with you. But where do we start? We are just some small fish here.

TBH, I never expected this. I have known dozens of traders on BTC-E over the years -- I never thought of them as a "money laundering" operation but rather a legitimate exchange! Basically the only option for MT4, PAMM and the best API of any exchange around!

Due to recent circumstances around 1broker shutting down their BTCUSD market and Polo services being unreliable, I had more at risk on BTC-E than I would have otherwise. This will completely crush me.

I was pondering emailing this guy: https://arstechnica.com/author/timlee/
He wrote the story about it on ars. Not that arstechnica is that large of a media outlet but somewhere to start...

Well surprised to see this.  But still just a maintenance notification page.
249  Economy / Exchanges / Re: BTC-e hacked ?? on: July 27, 2017, 06:10:09 PM
It'd be kind of cool if they popped back up as a tor hidden service and became what the US says they already were.
250  Economy / Exchanges / Re: BTC-e down: information tracking thread on: July 27, 2017, 05:37:57 PM
I feel pretty safe in saying the US authorities don't care at all about Mt Gox funds.  Their story all along has been that only criminals use bitcoin.  That's the same story they are telling even now about BTC-e.  No they care about control and BTC is beyond the control of governments so they would just assume see it die.  And taking down a major exchange fits right in line with that agenda.  Mt Gox hacking just made a convenient excuse to do it.
251  Economy / Exchanges / Re: BTC-e hacked ?? on: July 27, 2017, 04:39:32 PM
Dump for what? Only good missing tens of thousands of btc from trading.

The problem I see is, what exchange is safe?  Maybe if you trade on a Chinese exchange and don't live in the US.  BTC-e wasn't in the US and not run by US citizens and yet here we all are talking about it and nowhere on the internets is BTC-e.  So if no exchange is safe for non-criminals, if using any exchange is risking having all of your funds stolen by the US government, then what happens?  Dumpsville.  Make no mistake, overwhelmingly the value of BTC is determined by whale speculators.  If they can't safely trade in volume for profit, they will leave and BTC will crash very hard.
Wouldn't it be the opposite then? If no exchange is safe, people need to get the money out quickly. Only way to do that is buy BTC with their fiat and withdraw. In fact I speculate this will happen if BTC-E comes back. People will buy BTC there and withdraw, causing a massive spike in the BTC price.

Or the opposite.  If the whales have no issues getting out fiat they may take it while they can.

EDIT: For the record, I hope you are more correct than I am on this...

Some choice bits:

Quote from: The Man
A grand jury in the Northern District of California has indicted a Russian national and an organization he allegedly operated, BTC-e, for operating an unlicensed money service business, money laundering, and related crimes.

“Exchanges like this are not only illegal, but they are a breeding ground for stolen identity refund fraud schemes and other types of tax fraud.  When there is no regulation and criminals are left unchecked, this scenario is all too common. The takedown of this large virtual currency exchange should send a strong message to cyber-criminals and other unregulated exchanges across the globe.”

As for defendant BTC-e, the indictment alleges that, despite doing substantial business in the United States, BTC-e was not registered as a money services business with the U.S. Department of the Treasury, had no anti-money laundering process, no system for appropriate “know your customer” or “KYC” verification, and no anti-money laundering program as required by federal law.

The indictment charges BTC-e and Vinnik with one count of operation of an unlicensed money service business, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 1960, and one count of conspiracy to commit money laundering, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 1956(h).  In addition, the indictment charges Vinnik with seventeen counts of money laundering, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 1956(a)(1), and two counts of engaging in unlawful monetary transactions, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 1957. An indictment merely alleges that crimes have been committed, and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

FinCEN today assessed a $110 million civil money penalty against BTC-e  for willfully violating U.S. anti-money laundering (AML) laws.  Alexander Vinnik was assessed $12 million for his role in the violations.

So looks like BTC-e is down for the count.  So in order to get one guy they decided it was ok to rip off thousands.  Sounds about like the government.

Also looks like it validated my fear from this earlier, they basically can go and shut down most of the exchanges if they want and fuck all of the customers.
254  Economy / Exchanges / Re: BTC-e hacked ?? on: July 26, 2017, 05:02:35 PM

"The detainee was held on four counts of running an unlicensed money-transfer operation, conspiracy, money laundering in violation of 17 acts in the U.S. criminal code, and transactions in cash acquired through illicit means." - http://www.reuters.com/article/us-greece-russia-arrest-bitcoin-idUSKBN1AB27W

Well shit. The chances of them opening up the site with such allegations being investigated are really slim.

Why is the server actually down is the question.  If the authorities have somehow taken it down then it won't be back up but that's bullshit.  That's like seizing the entire stockmarket because some of the traders were using funds obtained from crime.  But worse still, I think it's a safe bet that every single exchange that exists has been used by criminals to launder coins they stole or got from darknet markets.  So can the government just go seize any exchange they want whenever they want?

I guess I'm waiting for the D5 to come out.  Hashrate will explode so these things will be almost pointless by Dec.
256  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 5 New X11 ASIC miners - Antminer, Innosilicon, IbeLink, Baikal, PinIdea on: July 24, 2017, 11:43:19 PM
4) PinIdea Drx 1200 mh/s - they dropped the ball, pure and simple. PinIdea's new Asic does 1.2 Gh, basically the same as 4 last gen baikal cubes... which would've been great a few months ago... but not now. Their price (6-7 k) does not reflect their tall midget designation. One upside (i suppose) is that they could ship... but again, that's short lived.

https://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale?catId=0&initiative_id=SB_20170704091749&SearchText=pinidea+drx

5) Baikal 2 GH Giant Plus - just an incremental upgrade of their a900... BUT Before you dismiss these (not so) Giants off hand for their (now puny) hash rate, consider this: Baikals produce the only ASICs capable of mining in different algorithms (x11, x13, x14, x15, quark, qubit). I know that Dash is the name of the game, but with so much new hardware hitting the market, it may make sense to diversify where you can. To be honest, I know NOTHING about these other algos, and the coins that could be mined with them... so PLEASE feel free to enlighten me and the thread.

I think you may be able to buy directly from them for something like $6k... or you can try Bittawm's group buy (below), which could be more in the 4k range if you act fast. I believe these are ready to ship

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2041159.0

If i've missed something or gotten something wrong, please feel free to set me straight...

Technically both of those are using the exact same chips these manufacturers have been using in their previous models.  These are not really new asics, they are new models using asics that they have been selling for a while.  Which is why neither one can really compete.  Also I am saying asic in regards to baikal even though I see the discussion about them being fpga's.  I really don't know either way.  Technically iBelink had a previous generation x11 chip that was selling at the same time as the PinIdea ones but it looks as though iBelink had their eye on the future and PinIdea maybe didn't?

X11 algorithm as someone already stated in a previous post is technically 11 different algorithms chained so it may be theoretically possible to use firmware to designate the chips to do only one of those 11 exclusively.  The algorithms used in x11 are blake, bmw, groestl, jh, keccak, skein, luffa, cubehash, shavite, simd, and echo according to this site: http://cryptorials.io/glossary/x11/

I think it would be entirely dependent on the chip design though.  It seems perfectly possible that the chips could be designed in such a way that you couldn't get only one algorithm and it could only ever do the full x11 series.

I posted this in another thread a couple days ago but seems appropriate to go in this one.

Hard to find information on this but it looks like the design process of the various manufacturers chips looks something like:

PinIdea      64nm (about 1.5 Mh per Watt)
Baikal        40nm (about 4.6 Mh per Watt)
Bitmain        ?nm (about 12.5 Mh per Watt)  <-assuming it meets the specs at release
iBelink        28nm (about 13.3 Mh per Watt)
Innosilicon    ?nm (about 40.3 Mh per Watt) <-assuming it meets the specs at release

I would guess that the Bitmain D3 is using a 28nm process and the Innosilicon is using something smaller.  The S9 is 16nm so there is certainly room for an improvement here in terms of efficiency and newer generation miners.  I doubt Innosilicon's chip is 16nm whatever it is.  PinIdea is probably out of this game for good at this point.  They have been releasing miners using the same chip for more than a year and only making minor efficiency gains by playing with chip frequencies.  I don't know if Baikal has anything in the works in terms of new chip designs but their current generation chip is also basically obsolete as soon as any of the other miners hit the market.  We know based on the network hashrate that some of these other miners are certainly real.  iBelink seems pretty well confirmed on all fronts including the specs at this point.  The Bitmain D3 could conceivably change specs prior to release but Bitmain usually comes pretty close on their stated specs vs what they release so I doubt it will move much.  The Innosilicon one is the real question, but if they are using something like 20nm or even 24nm they can make a huge impact in the market even if they don't release for 6 months.  The problem there is that Bitmain is likely to get a more efficient miner in that range inside of a year or so if dash prices justify making it so Innosilicon better drop something soon or Bitmain will just bury them in the longer term.
257  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][POOL] Mining Pool Hub - Multipool. Multialgo, Auto Exchange to any coin. on: July 22, 2017, 02:26:56 PM
No issues here. Try disabling your cookie manager extensions completely to see whether they are causing you the trouble at all. There might be something else doing this. You seem to be very privacy-minded; are you using VPN by any chance?
Naah, I'm not going to disable cookie manager/cleaners just because one site can't authenticate users properly - I'll simply just switch to another site/pool.

No VPN at the moment.

Well, don't blame the pool for what you are experiencing when no one else is having this issue. The problem relies in your machine clearly. What difference does it make adding an exception or turning the extension off completely when using MPH? Especially for testing...
As I said before, recaptcha is not the way to secure logins (which is why MPH introduced it) - solving it can be automated with few cents a piece so it's just selling an illusion to the users that things are secure. That is my critique. Having to log in once or twice a day is not an issue, being coerced to get tracked by and work for Google's benefit for good 15-30 seconds is. If this is ok with you, that's all cool, not giving a shit and being blind is what made Google so big but don't tell me that I should be ok with this.

You don't have to be offensive to prove a point especially when people are trying to help. You can just go with one of your initial suggestions and use another pool and I just end the conversation here.

I agree with fonyo, you should go away. You are welcome to your opinions but you seem to be under the impression that if people don't agree with you there is something wrong with them.  The recaptcha has already fixed the problem with people trying to bruteforce my account so it did exactly what it needed to.  Your disdain for google is fine but we don't need to hear about it over and over and over again.  And fonyo is correct about your bitching about the website not cooperating with your computer when the rest of us have no issue.  It's your problem, not miningpoolhub's problem.  So just go mine somewhere else and spare us any more of your posts.

I would be on the fence at half the price but 10k is too much.  I'm not a fan of supporting a monopoly but seriously, bitmain is the only one pricing a miner in a reasonable range for x11 right now.
Just cant get one...

Bitmain is claiming their's will be shipping sooner than innosilicon is claiming to ship these things.
