241  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: SUGGESTIONS FOR LOCAL BOARD - [MUST READ] 🔥🔥🔥🔥 on: August 18, 2018, 03:35:24 PM
Nice, now all we need is a response and action from our respected Moderators. Hope to fix all this problem soon.
sa totoo lang napakadali lang gumawa ng madameng account para irank as Junior member,
Don't worry about that, some good members and Mods are planning to get rid of that in Meta by putting a required amount of Merit in order to rank to Jr. Member. So that shitposters won't be able to farm more account to rank up to Jr. Member and to use it to abuse bounties. Just a couple of time and it will be implemented as there are already a lot of members who agreed with the idea.

242  Other / Meta / Re: reCAPTCHAs on: August 18, 2018, 03:19:02 PM
Please get rid of this recaptcha, thanks. I'm sure there are far better options.
I don't think that Admin will get rid of the recaptcha. It's been here already since the beginning and even though some member are having trouble logging-in because of the recaptcha, it is still a great help. Like what I said above, if you're having trouble with it, you can just use a simple browser+VPN to log-in in Bitcointalk. Using TOR is nice but it I often end up having problem with the recaptcha.

It took me forever to go through recaptcha because it kept suggesting to solve more and more puzzles
If the problem still persist even though you're using different browser, then start to wonder if you're really a human  Smiley

By the way OP, I thought this thread was already locked? No more further discussions must be held in here so locking the thread is a must. Please click this button

244  Other / Meta / Re: [THE LUCKY LIST] Just the right amount of MERIT on: August 18, 2018, 05:42:10 AM
84 sources for 2 mln users is simply ridiculous. it's like 0.0042%... not even real society is that bad
No it's not, actually it's pretty Fair. You know why? Because out of those 2 million users, there is only about 5 to 10% (I guess) who are quality posters and deserves to get Merits. If it's too exaggerated, then make it 15% or whatever you like but my main point is, over 70% of users here in Bitcointalk doesn't deserve Merits as they only make post to earn money and those posts they make are totally trash. So what are you complaining about? Don't even say that Merit Sources are not doing their responsibility just because they only distribute merit to a few number of people because, can we blame them if they can't find many quality posters?

But, asides from that, It would be better if every local board has also having their own Merit Sources because it will be difficult for our sources to distribute Merits from a post/thread written in other languages. Even though our current Merits sources are enough, I still like @crwth to be a Merit source so that Tagalog posters from my local board will still be able to receive enough merits from their hard works. As well as to @bitmover and that French guy who were applying for Merit Source.
245  Other / Meta / Re: Community generated suggestions to improve the forum (+ eventual voting on them) on: August 17, 2018, 01:17:07 PM
For account security purposes I would like to see the forum have a email or any kind of notificatiom about a failed log-in attempt and also a permission via email to allow an unrecognized log-in to a new device or ip address. In this way our accounts will be secure from people who are trying to steal it. This kind of early prevention is similar to what other websites/apps are doing and it might really help a lot of people on protecting their accounts.
I like the idea as well, when it comes to security, it is something that we should prioritised. But, can I ask something? Is it possible to capture the user who is trying to access your account (when there is a failed log-in attempt) by using the front camera of the device if possible? and the image captured will be sent directly to your email address that is associated in in your account. Some security app supports this feature and I don't know if SMF or any website supports this feature but this would be somehow a cool one. But will be useless if the device's camera is covered.

As far as I know only applications are capable of this kind of feature so it can be added as security feature once there is a official app for Bitcointalk  Grin but still a bad idea since application softwares are reversedengineer-able or can be modified to use for phishing.
246  Other / Meta / Re: Make restrictions for juniors members on: August 17, 2018, 12:28:10 PM
I personally think that bounty managers should just implement a merit requirement into their campaigns, requiring Jr members to have at least 1-2 merit to participate. Realistically Theymos isn't likely to restrict Jr. members further otherwise he would have done it already, so the bounty managers need to be the ones to curb this crap.
In addition to hilariousetc's reply, bounty managers are pretty wise as well, they know that they will only get few participants if they put at least 2 merit requirements and I don't think that bounty managers with agree with that. As we can see, they actually doesn't care about the posts quality of their participants because what important for them is their project is getting advertised the way they like.
So, even though theymos doesn't want to restrict Jr. Members, we still need to force to implement the "atleast 5 merits requirements to rank up to Jr. Member and also remove signature from Jr. Members" for the sake of Bitcointalk, or else things will get worse.

We're running out of options.
247  Other / Meta / Re: [THE LUCKY LIST] Just the right amount of MERIT on: August 17, 2018, 12:13:09 PM
which is even a better indicator that the merit system need improvements. and by that I mean more merit sources.
there are only 84 merit sources for over 2mln users.
Merit System doesn't need any improvements, actually these accounts you've provided are perfect proof that the Merit System is working according to plan. They doesn't receive any Merits yet because they don't make any good and quality post/threads just like you IMHO. At first, I thought reading this thread is something that will catch my interest but reading furthermore, it's just a thread complaining about Merit, the difference is you've just added some information that will cover your real objective, and it is to complain.

I'm not underestimating users who can't receive Merits, because I still believe that by just improving themselves a little, they will surely start to gain Merits like other members. The only problem is they don't care about the quality of posts, so the Merit will still stay away from them.

Quote
I will remove the users as soon as they gain 5% Merit from the screenshoot.
How about lock this thread if you don't receive at least 2 Merits within 48 hours? Smiley
Quote
If anyone want to contribute please do  Grin
Wishing you luck to find someone who will be interested to help you complain about Merit System.

Still hooking up for answers. Looks like it's been forgotten already Smiley
249  Other / Meta / Re: Forum response very slow on: August 16, 2018, 04:44:42 PM
Yeah, I'm on wi-fi and I thought it might be that, because I'm having the same issues today.  Yesterday I kept getting that "bad gateway" error for a few hours.  I'm used to that error, but I don't think I've experienced this delay before--or at least not in quite a while.  At least it isn't minutes.

Edit:  Whoops, spoke too soon.  Just got the 504 error as I was trying to post this.
I'm wondering that this server down issue we're experiencing right now is somehow a effect of jamming the database just like what theymos have said the other day. Even though he fixed it already, I can say that it's not fully fixed by looking at the situation right now.
This might be the reason why the forum loads slower than before.

Some members also said that they've encountered this 504 gateway timeout error after the problem that day.

At the other side. I'm sure that Admin are working on it silently.

Oh by the way, here is the topic I'm referring to https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4898624.0

In some location it's not even loading....
Hmmm, so it's really something unusual.
250  Other / Meta / Re: Community generated suggestions to improve the forum (+ eventual voting on them) on: August 16, 2018, 04:21:48 PM
I vote for these suggestions to be implemented.

• A newbie welcome message or link to a welcome thread upon sign-up explaining the basic rules and links to everything they need to know including the full forum rules, helpful guides and FAQs etc. No excuses for not knowing the rules then.

I like this one, I still remember that I made a proposal about this idea before.
Quote

• A publicly displayed 'banned' rank under a person's username for permabanned accounts (people are wasting both theirs and staffs time reporting already banned users and bots).

This will be helpful for reporters to focus more in reporting unban accounts.
Quote

• Require at least one merit to become a Junior Member (bots will never rise past Newbie status then and can be nuked once spotted).

I prefer to make it 3 to 5 Merits.
Quote

• Remove signatures completely from lower ranks (at least Juniors). Purchasing a Copper Membership (or higher) could still get you one.

A very wise idea. Nowadays, these spammers are only here for advertising ICO using their signature spaces so that they can earn money. Implementing this one will really change a lot of things hete. I highly recommend this one.
Quote

• Posts from lower ranked accounts don't bump ICO threads to the top (which would then render paid bump spam useless).

I like it as well. So that bumping threads by those shills accounts will be useless.
Quote

• More patrollers/mods who just handle sig spam or farmers.

• Restoring the memberlist search and stats (very useful for finding huge farming abuses).

• Enforce the sig campaign guidelines. If a campaign is spotted that is doing little to nothing and is abused en mass by spammers, farmers, bots and copy and pasters they are warned. If nothing changes then they are punished with such things as bans, threads trashed, signatures blacklisted site-wide etc.

Quote

• A 'bump button' for the marketplace that only allows you to bump your thread once every 24 hours. Manually bumping by posting will then be disallowed. As mentioned above, posts by lower ranked accounts could not be able to bump threads thus curbing potential abuse.

In addition for this one. Once another bump has been made after 24 hours, the old bump will automatically be deleted.
Quote

• More admins or demi-admins added to help with account recoveries and other admin duties.

Recoveries are not really prioritised but I want this idea as well.
Quote

• A captcha added to a user's first post or two/three etc to curb bot usage (purchasing a Copper Membership could remove these).

• Require email verification for new accounts.

• Require email verification first before passwords/emails are changed.
251  Other / Meta / Re: Merit source application (French local board) on: August 16, 2018, 04:00:41 PM
is going to be more 3 to 4 month to what i have seen so far, in general we sure need more sources in the local sections.
I guess so too. Even our Merit Source applicant from Philippines local board doesn't have any updates yet from Admins. Since Admins are too busy, they will still need to take a review at the applicant's post history and application thread if it will pass the requirements which is also a lot of work to do.

Anyhow, let's just leave the work in our Admins and be patient to keep updated for any updates. That's the best thing that applicant and supporters can do for now.

Well OP, also wishing you luck. You're the first Merit Source in French local board as well the first member ranked Merit Source if you get accepted.
252  Other / Meta / Re: Forum response very slow on: August 16, 2018, 03:47:35 PM
Woah, so it’s really not my Internet connection's problem. I noticed it as well and I'm experiencing this slow response of Bitcointalk by just now and I thought it's my Internet connection's problem but it has no problem browsing in other sites. It took me about 10 seconds to load this thread which doesn't even have too many replies so it only means Bitcointalk responses slower than normal.

Edit.
It took me about 20 seconds to post this reply Cheesy
253  Economy / Services / Re: [OPEN] 🔥IOU Signature Campaign | Member - Hero | 0.0007 BTC /Post 🔥 on: August 16, 2018, 03:38:54 PM
Confirming that I received my payments. Thanks Manager.

About the updated rules, well there's no much problem about it so far. But sometimes a long sentence of reply/post doesn't mean it is informative, a simple short reply can be much more informative than those long replies. Just like actmyname told me "Brevity is the soul of wit.". Smiley

Anyway, will still be following the rules. Thanks again for the smooth transaction of the 1st week.
254  Other / Meta / Re: A couple of shit-posting bots. on: August 15, 2018, 12:56:21 PM
I used the term shit-posting bots because I can't find a better way to describe them.
It's okay, actually it's fit to it.
Anyway, there are lot of these "shit-posting bots" out there which has worser posts than this. I've seen several accounts when reporting before with almost all posts are garbage posts like "Good project" and etc. You can find thousands of bot accounts by just visiting a bounty or announcement thread with more than 100 pages. Aside from bounty/ann thread, you can also find shitposters in off-topic section posting off-topic reply in a thread in off-topic.
255  Other / Off-topic / Re: Finally a Sr. 😊 on: August 15, 2018, 12:32:26 PM
I also planned to create a celebration thread for myself for ranking up to Sr. Member before but I've realised that it's unnecessary since I really don't deserved to rank up to Sr. Member because, if I didn't received an airdrop merits (default 100 Merit in full member rank) I'm still a Full Member right now.

I envy you mdayonliner for having a happy celebration and good response from these people, by the way, congratulations again mdayonliner Smiley

256  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Does this bounty seem suspicious? on: August 15, 2018, 12:06:26 PM
You should have included the link to that bounty you were talking about.

Also, I don't get this
Quote
All team members have around 430-460 followers while having only 70-90 tweets as well as 70-90 followings. Going by the fact they all suspiciously have an account since may 2018, that would give them 3 months to make those followers. Thats 5 followers a day. Math does not add up.
What's with those followers etc? It's too vague for me to understand your point.  Does it have something to do or related on how the bounty become suspicious? Or because they have same followers that's why they're suspicious?
257  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Bounties (Altcoins) / Re: [OPEN]⭐ICOForums.net | Signature Campaign | ETH Weekly Payment⭐ on: August 15, 2018, 11:27:08 AM
I have just copied his form and forgot to put my eth address. This acct also was not associated with me and as you see his local post to mine is very different.
I confirm. Bitkoyns is my fellow citizen (Filipino) and Nahl seems like an Indonesian. I never knew someone here from Philippines who study how to speak Indonesian.

Also, you need to provide Escrow as soon as possible as your participants are already posting for your campaign and I believe this campaign belongs to Altcoin Section, you doesn't use Bitcoin as payment so you should move this in there

Anyway, the Manager is way too different compared to Zapo which is a very responsible Manager.
258  Economy / Reputation / Re: Abusing bounty campaigns on: August 15, 2018, 11:03:09 AM
After conducting some investigation about if these accounts are connected. I've found this...

I went through some bounties of these two accounts to look for their eth address and found out that their address are "somehow" next to each other in this spreadsheet, coincidence?

neymarjunior50 number 591 in Facebook spreadsheet
barsametu01 number 592 in Facebook spreadsheet

And

neymarjunior50 number 882 in twitter spreadsheet
barsametu01 number 884 in twitter spreadsheet

https://i.imgur.com/JqsnTkx.png

Are these really coincidence? Wait there's more.

Check out there address in etherscan.io and you will notice that they have the exact same tokens.

neymarjunior50's erc20 address is 0x6166080ECE138205CD2B6172f267f29ED570C308 https://etherscan.io/address/0x6166080ece138205cd2b6172f267f29ed570c308
barsametu01's erc20 address is 0xcabBFB234E3D73d98DF7F116a3Ef0A920b7cc34D https://etherscan.io/address/0xcabbfb234e3d73d98df7f116a3ef0a920b7cc34d

Also both addresses sent tokens in this address 0x623B925b0A57a24EA8dE301F2E3E692cE903f0c3 with the same date as it says "35 days 20 hrs ago"

neymarjunior50's Txhash https://etherscan.io/tx/0xd692bebd6cca0dd1c3dbf763e29300617a3d5665fc6df61c661158219e73f6f7

These might be still not enough to prove that these accounts were connected but this will somehow become additional evidences.
259  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Hardware Wallet Can Hack Too! We are not safe then? on: August 15, 2018, 10:02:40 AM
The user maybe a noob at using Trezor or it might be bought from someone who already used it. Any wallet is secured even though those software wallets installed in our computers or mobile devices. The reason why we are getting a victim of hacking and fraud is because of being "Careless".

OP, don't be so scared about your assets, whatever wallet are you using right now I'm sure that you won't encounter any trouble as long as you stay safe. I'm just using a software wallet in my android phone and I never encountered such problems. Its because I'm taking good care of my personal and private informations.
260  Other / Meta / Re: Why locking threads which are actually helpful? on: August 15, 2018, 09:21:48 AM
We leave threads open and people complain asking why they're still allowed to be spammed in and haven't been locked or trashed yet. We lock them and people still complain. Can't have it both ways.

Actually, it's my first time to tackle a topic like this. It's just fine to lock threads which are useless and I won't argue with that, but when it comes to locking useful threads well it's a different issue compared to those useless threads. Well, sorry hilariousetc if it seems like I'm complaining but actually I'm just asking for clarifications why this is happening to our local.
Quote
Threads are locked for a variety of reasons: duplicates, served their purpose, turning into spam megathreads etc, but staff can't win.
I've seen those threads and I think
Duplicate- it's not a duplicate in my opinion, the contents are translated into tagalog from the original with references so I don't think it's duplicate.
Turning into spam megathreads - theyoungmillionaire's threads are self moderated and I think s/he intentionally do it to avoid unwanted replies so that the thread will not become spam megathreads. But it still has been locked.

I don't really know what's the reason for those threads being locked. I know our Mods has some valid reasons why but I'm really curious what are those. Well, maybe because they're not Bitcoin related topic but I still wish to open those threads as they are good discussions about the forum.
Quote

If you want to get an answer as to why a specific thread was locked then contact your local mods. If you make your case they might reopen them but at least you can get an answer as to why they were locked in the first place. They're usually done so for one of the reasons listed above though.
Thanks hilariousetc, but do they suppose to reply in this thread too? I'm sure that they are visiting Meta section too and maybe (just maybe) they already saw this thread but still no response from them Sad

theyoungmillionaire inspired a lot of poster not only in our local board that's why I'm fighting for those threads (including other threads I've mentioned made by other members) so that it won't become useless as they are now under a lot of spam threads.

That's embarrassing. It's a mistake. I mistook rickbig41 as ralle41 since both name starts with r.  Cheesy

I've edited my post.
Not so sure. Hmmmm Smiley
