241  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Fastcoin - FST - The Fastest coin so far in the market - is launched!! on: November 22, 2015, 07:04:42 PM
Just downloaded and synced up a new wallet- no issues at all, but it did take about 3 days to sync.

I never understand why this coin isn't more valuable. Its got a great name and logo. People always seem not too far away to help with issues.

Even some of the rating sites like it:

CoinWarz: 19th
CoinGecko: 59th

But you look up the market cap against other coins and its usually around 300th.
242  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Feathercoin [FTC] - time proven, fast, secure and unique POW coin on: September 24, 2015, 01:59:12 PM
Hi

Anyone able to update the intro to this thread? Thought I would do a little re-write and fix some of the grammar if you want it.

Created in 2013, Feathercoin is one of the oldest and most reliable cryptocurrencies. Since its start as a Litecoin clone, FTC came a long way. It utilizes a unique ASIC resistant algorithm that allows everyday people to continuing mining with just their CPU's and GPU's. Compared against Bitcoin, Feathercoin can offer faster and more scalable transactions and improved decentralization. Its swift, secure and reasonably distributed network is the backbone of Feathercoin. A secure hobbyist network continues to mine the coin, but we are building advanced functionality as well including: anonymous transactions, user friendly multisig, comments ín blockchain, 3rd party wallet plugins and more. FTC is one of the most secure cryptocurrencies available. Its a safe store of value due to its well balanced distribution model and long term development support. Feathercoin thrives as a leader in the cryptocurrency movement to replace traditional banking systems.

Thanks Vegas this makes things a whole lot easier.
Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

Hey if anyone could make a zip file of like the latest and I mean maybe the last day or two blockchain updated so my FastCoin wallet will finally sync that would be the cat's ass!!! Just saying..... Wink

Ok done its on my site : www.BITCOINLASVEGAS.net/files/Fastcoin-blockchain-June-11th-2015.zip

Its over 2GB in size. Blame the devs. But its current as of about 15 min ago. Just close fastcoin wallet and extract contents to roaming\fastcoin and overwrite all files.

Enjoy

Vegas

Guys, in the very near future www.bitcoinlasvegas.net will be the most useful crypto website in the world. Heres why:

Im going to have a section on my site called wallets & blockchains, on that page will be icons of all the wallets I can find. Im going to make it so that youll simply click on the icon of the picture of the wallet and download the latest wallet AND blockchain AND addnodes!!! How does that sound?!?!  So, its gonna take a whole lot of time , and they will be in alphabetical order. So Ill start that in the coming weeks. Ill be adding wallets slowly to that page as I have time. Ive said it before , www.bitcoinlasvegas.net is the best cryptowebsite , in the world, and its about to get a whole lot better Wink

Vegas

Sounds amazing! Can't wait to see it.
244  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Litecoin - a lite version of Bitcoin. Launched! on: June 15, 2015, 01:34:48 PM
Hey Litecoin fans. Can someone direct me as to how to fix my wallet please? I would be very appreciative. I sent a few transactions about a month ago that never went through and never were confirmed. The transactions are listed in my wallet and the balance reflects that the LTC was moved out, but ultimately it never arrived where I sent it and was never confirmed even once. Everything is fully synced as well so I'm not sure what to do about it.
Litecoin has fans? Huh aren't we all here for the pump? Roll Eyes

Yes, believe it or not, Litecoin does have fans.  Smiley

But I do hope the price to be lower so that I can buy more.

Lower?! How much lower do you need it? Smiley

If there is a pump going on, its happening across all the alts. I think its genuine market interest. The prices have spent about 18 months dropping and BTC is cheap enough now that for a few thousand or hundred dollars you can buy a substantial % of an alt coin's total supply.

Vert was definitely a pump though, crazy.

I am definitely a Litcoin fan and I've owned and mined them since 2013.

In Bitcoin, when you create a transaction, it is saved in your wallet.dat, so it will be rebroadcast indefinitely whether it gets confirmed or not.  In order to get rid of it, you have to edit the wallet.dat, but you also have to wait until it disappears from the network before restarting the client.  If you restart the client while it's still on the network and it is broadcast back to you, it will be put back in the wallet.dat by the client.  I'm guessing the same procedure would apply to Litecoin since it's a regularly maintained Bitcoin clone.  Unfortunately, the only wallet.dat editor I'm familiar with is pywallet, but it hasn't been maintained in a long time and might not support the latest wallet.dat version if it even supports altcoins.  I'm not sure the alpha successor would either since there has been no comment on it's thread since 2014.  You can give it a shot, but make a backup of your wallet.dat file first.  If it doesn't work, you'll have to do some searching to see if there's other tools/ways to get the same end result.  You might also try the official litecoin forums if you haven't.

Thanks. Come to think of it, I have the wallet backed up on another older computer. Maybe if I just open that copy the problem will resolve, but otherwise, thanks so much for the advice! I'm sure something will work.

Got it, thanks Vegas. Good to hear.

I think the last year of ever falling prices on all coins has driven a lot of people to give up.

I can't find contact details for the website, but I messaged the person who opened this thread.

I think the biggest priorities are updating this thread and the website. They're full of dead links and it looks like no one represents the coin anymore.

Also thanks for posting the blockchain for people, thats the most useful thing going on here. Ideally with someone maintaining the website and thread regularly we could keep a new link for people so they don't have to ask.

I'm willing to help pay for some upkeep and maintenance, just need to find the person running things.

Here's a video I did for Riecoin:

I'd say by default we can both consider ourselves affiliated with Fastcoin. Wink

Thank you. I am not affiliated with fastcoin. Just a fan, thats all. I still will try to help you. Lets keep the converstation on the thread so others can get help from it too.

Hey Vegas, awesome to hear thanks!

I'm just in general looking to help.

I can create a new video if you need it. Donate to your foundation. Help keep this thread active...

250  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Fastcoin - FST - The Fastest coin so far in the market - is launched!! on: May 28, 2015, 08:49:43 PM
So fast, so messy.

Ultimately orphaned blocks will throw off automated estimates, but the reward remains unpredictable and decentralized so its the same for everyone right?

This coin is still the fastest and has the longest blockchain. Neither of those things are very useful for the purposes of being a currency, but they are novelties and they are definitely one of a kind. My thoughts are that one of a kind novelties are enough to maintain value, especially if you believe in blockchain tech. I personally think blockchains are the future and any that have been around for a while, used as currency or not, will one day be worth something. Look at Namecoin, its been one of the top market caps for a long time and can serve no purpose as currency. Bitcoin also maintains a much higher value solely from being the first and having the best known name (the ultimate in one of a kind status).

Also. Since Fastcoin has been around now for 2 years, and there isn't really much of a reason to make a faster coin, it would likely never lose its claim on having the longest blockchain provided it can keep a community of miners interested. If someone tried to build hype around a new coin with the intention of building a longer blockchain, they'd have a hell of a time getting people interested, a hell of a time writing something that works properly and it would take many years to catch up...IF one day blockchains are everything and replace traditional currencies space on the longest existing blockchain will be worth money. Its also conceivable that future people could fix problems with the code and/or overcome them with hardware. So IF blockchains succeed and IF Fastcoin survives to see that day, Fastcoin will be worth a fortune.

Just my thoughts. I've been following Fastcoin for years, through the ups and downs. Love the name too, I think that's worth a lot.

Also, I do internet marketing and make videos. I'll have time over the next couple months to work on Fastcoin. Is there a dev around still? Does someone want to run a foundation (I will donate)? We could fund promotions, development and exposure...Msg me or talk here. Thanks!

251  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: BitGold - http://www.bitgold.com - I believe this is a Ponzi/HYIP on: May 19, 2015, 11:29:17 PM
I don't think its a scam and it has some notable backers. Instead I think its an attempt to take on Bitcoin and cryptos for low international fees. Basically you purchase a digital representation of gold they have in a vault somewhere. To make an international transfer, you would transfer your ownership of that gold to someone abroad. But make no mistake they are not using a blockchain, its 100% centralized and operated by a company. It has absolutely nothing to do with BTC whatsoever beyond taking on Bitcoin through marketing with the word "bit".

If you're into Bitcoin for low fees, it might be worth looking at. If you're here for the innovation, the infallibility, incorruptibility and free market of decentralized cryptos - its definitely not for you.

At the end of the day it is absolutely no different than standard banking except that the asset they back the bank with is gold and they promise not to create any debt. So they promise not to create more digital Bitgold money than there is real gold in their vault. The big failing with this is that its in their best interest to put more bitgold on their books than they have in their vaults. And if they don't break their promise about creating debt, someone else surely will because it would be the most obvious way to profit from the business they are running. If its successful and they are honest, they are doomed to be run out of business by more profitable competitors offering the same service but being smarter about it.

What was the name of that crap China shut down a couple years prior to Bitcoin, can't remember.

I don't know, but that statement

So true. Evident by the fact that NO centralized coin has a future. Unless you have a border and an army, you can't host a centralized currency. Its only inevitable you get shut down by the local authority.

is just pure Evil.

I'm going to be angry with myself when I remember the damn name. Point is. Someone opened up their own currency in China pre-bitcoin. It became popular with locals and merchants. Fully in use as a currency within a region. . . Seeing it as a threat to authority, Chinese government descended on their head offices and shut it down, arrested a bunch of people. They would have done the same thing to Bitcoin 5 years ago, but decentralization makes it impossible stop. That's what makes Bitcoin different. You take away the decentralization you have nothing. What's the point?

And its happened over and over in history. Currency is sovereignty. You set up your own currency you are declaring sovereignty. Governments don't generally like you doing that within their borders.

How fast it is compared to Paycoin?
www.paycoin.com

Much faster...

You probably never used Paycoin, it has nearly instant transaction.

An average confirmation is around 2/5 seconds and at maximum less than a minute.

It achieve this by having a nearly centralised mining in the hand of a single Company GAW Miners. I tried it and it has nearly instant transactions.

FastCoin is interesting if it can achieve the same result without having centralised mining.

That makes no sense, why would you be interested in a coin that is not only centralized, but operated by a single company. Sounds like a sham. Fastcoin has always promoted decentralization, not controlled or operated by a single entity. Gaw miners are using their coin as a way to increase their own mining profits, you don't see that?

"PayCoin (XPY) an altcoin backed by GAW miners, which is believed to be a scam, recently joined the Top 5 club of cryptocurrencies according to its market valuation on CoinMarketCap. At the time of valuation, PayCoin was also informally launched on 16th December with an initial investment of $54.5 million brought into the market. It is also believed that PayCoin is part of a ponzi scheme with GAW Miners playing a major role."

All coins are again suffering hard. Really crazy out there. People are losing big money. MNE collapse, SWIFT collapse, VRC collapse, ROS collapse. CANN collapse. LTCD collapse. Only the coin owners and exchanges are making money now.

My theory, they are one and the same. . . The only people guaranteed to make some money from a new coin are the exchanges. I'll bet they have a whole team of people creating anonymous dev, anonymous code, coins. Why not?

Hey Ros fans.

Whats the deal with the trade of Ros that happened on Bittrex a couple days ago? 50 million coins in one trade, that's 66% of the total supply isn't it? Who has that much?!

I'm a video editor. I'd be happy to take on ROS if there is still a bounty being offered. Here are samples of my crypto video work:

Of course, there is still a bounty for a video.

Cool, just wondering what the amount is now though? 0.5BTC would be worth over a million ROS by now. 300k of ROS would only be around 0.1BTC or about $35. Its just not enough anymore as it stands.

yes my favourite guy, im glad you see the potential buddy

Yea man, you too, good to see you... Every coin has potential. The chocolate angle is interesting. I haven't bought any ROS, but I'd work for some if it was offered.

But seriously what is with the 66% of supply trade? Thats insane. Is this monopolized?

scam coin ?

Don't think so either. Followed through with everything they said they'd do and on time. Launch was fair. Coin supply is stable.

Dev is anonymous and quiet, code is not released for anon wallet.

Supercoin dev, worked with Mammoth dev to create the anon wallet. Supercoin dev said about 2 weeks ago that he's quitting and open to releasing the code once a new dev team is found to maintain it.
260  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SUPERCOIN] Unique Most Advanced Anonymous Trustless Multisig Technology on: October 28, 2014, 12:54:31 PM
Agree with a lot of the posts. At the very least change thread title to *Looking for developer*. Something to help the cause.

As with what BrookeFinancial said, my worth in Supercoin is very little now compared to my other holdings, I've learned a lot about the crypto scene, and how to 'play the game'. I still think there is great potential behind Supercoin, and I will check back often to see if new development has taken place. It's a shame, as a community there was great excitement before the release of Phase 2. I was hoping we'd all hit the crypto jackpot, and could celebrate our earnings.

I wonder though, should we create a thread in the main Alt-coin forum at least? I mean, there are plenty of new coins created, maybe a potential Dev would see this as opposed to creating a new coin. At this point is there anything to lose? I don't care about FUD, it's basically kicking a man while he's down at this point. I guess the main problem is having the Dev hand over code.  But would we all be willing to trust a new Dev on the scene? Most already qualified devs have their own projects, so it may be a long waiting game..

Cheers all

I support this.

I'd be willing to trust a dev with a previously proven track record. Not just any ol' shmoe. Though, when this eventually goes open source, trust will be less of an issue...

... so how are you planning to pay a dev with proven record? or you think they will come running to work for free? I'm not trying to be negative, just realistic. good luck!!

Superdev said he would release the code quietly to the new dev, who would then have 1 week before the transfer is announced. During that week he could A)check make sure the code is legit B)once verified buy a ton of SUPER before anyone else knows whats happening. Makes it easily profitable and since the coin is already working properly, there isn't even any pressing work to be done. Review, buy, show your face, profit.

Conversely, a renowned dev wants to release a new coin and own a lot of the total supply, they can't. If they do an unfair launch, no one trusts the coin and it tanks. If they try to buy during the initial selling phase, they'll blow their money on the inflated prices that come with a new coin. If they try to "go quiet" to lower the price for buying, it hurts their reputation, which hurts the coin.

This is a unique opportunity actually. A known dev who wants to make some quick money, this is the place.

There is also no risk. If they get the code and find out its a fake, they just walk away.
