Anyone can tell me why this coin would be "better" than others? When did the dev write news last time? Time frame for stuff to get released? It's been 1½ year since the thread came up and nothing is done yet or?
That would require all the effort of looking up the OPs thread history and speed reading through about ~150 posts. That's going to require a lot of effort on your part. I wish you well. |

pre-pump behavior. Most prob, it's over due a price correction. Possibly. The other interesting part is that there are now ~16-20% of coins listed on Bittrex and about ~1% on RAWX; that is much higher than has ever been on Bittrex if I recall but still shows that most coins aren't even in play. So whichever way you look at it around ~75-80% of coins aren't listed on any exchange. a possibility that those who holds much bigger amount of there coins just keeping it from their own wallet making it sure that when the price will completely arise they can also easily send it to any exchange that they want then sell it from the price that they adore making the price up and the value will multiply. The previous wallet did a good job of auto-staking. Not sure the new wallet is working in the same way. Well for sure it works as I'm staking right now (and if I don't stake then the staking difficulty on bittrex and cryptoguru goes right down to near zero; conversely when I do stake it raises extremely high). The other thing is that you do have to unlock the wallet specifically for staking and not just general use (there is a tick box which I believe wasn't present on the previous clients) |

I'm also trying not to be biased (although I hold a decent chunk of VTR) but I can safely say that the level of communication has been low, but I also think that is in some ways preferable to the ten thousand other pump and dump projects around which haven't done shit except for try and be "the future of cryptocurrency is here!"
This is an interesting project but we're still kinda in the dark how far along things are (which does fit in with previous comments make by the dev if anyone cares to go back several dozen pages).
Not sure what else I can really do as an end-user to support the project because I don't know how to code.
You should know that like 99% of the legit developers SUCKS @ marketing and communications. I am telling you this from my personal experience with 30+ coders. Those who are posting often in their threads (and in most cases are using sock puppet accounts) are 99% scammers. They may stay for a month, 6 months or a year, but they will definitely one day disappear. I would agree that VTR dev should do more about it, but from my experience, I have learned to accept such actions (i.e. - I find it normal). Maybe you should make some proposals, but actions always speaks louder than words. P.S. I don't want this to sound like advertising, but I am part of a cryptocurrency with a 12 people team from 10 different countries around the world. I am also something like a Project leader. Do you know that our members are currently forbidden to post in our thread, tweet or... whatever? That's because of a one simple truth - as of now, we have nothing to say. I don't really doubt that; as far as I'm concerned the dev hasn't really promised anything he hasn't delivered on so far, its just that development takes time. We're two years into this rollercoaster, and about 2 months away (if I recall correctly) from the expected PoSv2 stage. So let's see where it goes. |

So vtorrent has kindly let me try out the new wallet (minus torrent features); I've been asked to keep the file private but can share screenshots here.   So yes, it does exist. It is functional, it is pretty slick and barring the blockchain completely syncing (it is taking some time) it looks quite nice. There is a BitTorrent section, but it has been deactivated on this particular copy of the program (vtorrent stated that it would be without torrent functionality as this is still in private testing) New features: -multiple windows for trading on bittrex -2FA via Google Authenticator -Key management -HD addresses -Block explorer Regarding the lack of any update on torrent functionality this is what vtorrent said on December 31st, 2014: Since Magnetz scam, I prefer to keep all the details about torrent implement from public until we release our first beta client with torrent implemented. As to when to expect torrent release, I have no information. That BitTorrent link in the client is in the video, but not on the latest release. Obviously, something is there.  @Dev Any chance of a video of that opening up? Yes button was there but it didn't work (it'd crash the client). I did investigate as much as I could of the code and found multiple references to the torrent feature--enough that I'm convinced that it does exist in some form, but dev stated that the client I was being sent would have all torrent functionality removed. So either the dev is pulling the biggest possible effort to pull the wool over people's eyes for the past 2 years or he is working on something slowly but surely. I think it goes without saying that beside all these other coins out there that no one has "cracked" a paid storage solution--and even the ones that are close don't consider bittorrent but instead P2P storage (a la dropbox). Joystream doesn't appear too fantastic, is tied to bitcoin itself (meaning transactional costs and bloat of the blockchain will make it not really work unless the blocksize of bitcoin magically increases tenfold overnight). What the internet needs but doesn't yet know it is a Kazaa-like bitorrent/cryptocurrency client (which is what the promise of VTR has always been); stuff like some community chat rooms as well as some way to rate content would turn it from an amazing idea into a game changer. Being able to put up bounties for shit (i.e. I want this specific file that only someone with access to an invite-only private tracker would have) would take things a step further. |

Coins mate, given the way the developer has been for the last year and a half, an autistic mute that doesn't like to engage people and just stay silent, I see no reason why that would change until the next release, at the end of the year. This project will hover around the 600 sat mark until torrents are implemented, v Torrent should be named vCoin until then.  I'll still keep 200k. Most likely accumulate more around November. Its peculiar though, because there is an extreme volume of coins out there. Very, very, very, very few have had any actual focus on an actual usage scenario beyond "exchange of value" or "the next generation of cryptocurrency". Like thanks you've invented Bitcoin 1.3143242---what of it? Without some link to CPU/storage/network there isn't a point as far as I'm concerned. Yet here we have one of the few crypto projects that links to storage solutions--and people are so dismissive. I could care less about people's attitude towards the short term price. It really doesn't matter to me, I expect to retire when something concrete is released. Yet in terms of developers out there he/she has been forthcoming when appropriate, honest where applicable and generally a decent person. I don't say that with disregard to individual's decisions--make up your own mind--but unless this dev is pulling the ultimate 36 month long ruse cruise and just seeking to "troll" people with complete disregard to profit (they could've pumped/dumped multiple times) I don't see the point. They're either developing crypto/torrent which doesn't actually exist yet, or they're full of shit (which means they're so dedicated towards misleading people for no apparent reason, they could've made 100x profit just from making a generic shitcoin) By all means, please show me a cryptocurrency out there that involves bittorrent/file storage that isn't shit or decades away from release. |

The point about torrent features still not being here is valid.
But by the same token there is no point in releasing anything torrent related until its completely solid.
It'll get ripped off an put into a thousand coins within 10 minutes.
It's also imaginably a difficult thing to develop because of the fake seed ratios etc.
Lets hope we see something of it soon!

tobe honest for me i dont mind if bittorrent stuff is still in developing BUT i will see if this release will really have 2-fa like dev have been showing screenshot for a while.
if it is really working and not just some bullshit.
then I think we are very very lucky to invest in this coin as i never see one coin with 2-fa truely working and clearly he is really working toward building complete infra not just focus on stuff to show off like basic torrent then pump dump and run!
In the 0.8.1 wallet I had access to some time ago (which had torrent features removed yet were still mentioned quite a few times with some specific things) it had 2FA in the wallet, however I never tested it. |

Depending on how the torrent features will be implemented, this should be the first VTR torrent. Actually that's a good call. The radium devs came up with a good idea on how to speed up syncing time - Auto Bootstrap: When the wallet detects that is more than 20,000 blocks behind the rest of the network, it shuts down, and downloads the latest bootstrap.dat, before restarting. This allows the wallet to sync from the bootstrap.dat, boosting syncing speed. You have to be careful with this sort of thing, it could be used by some as an attack vector. Please elaborate? Not sure if you're alluding to the auto bootstrap idea or the bootstrap that I posted; in any case before running anything on here you should really do an antivirus check no matter where it comes from or who says its good. The auto bootstrap. No offence mate, but I personally wouldn't touch your download, the only places I would get stuff from is Github, the OP, or an official web site. Nothing personal, but you are some random guy from the interweb  Fair enough (: It'll still be a good idea for this project to have a bootstrap at this point; not sure the safest way to put one together unless dev does it themselves. |
