I just received the 0.1 VTR from faucet on my bittrex wallet a few hours ago.
Address: xr16Z1Mdx1ijGuE6AUcfE38Xv72piHhHhBWkDrhbFyWua7ML85RN314LZEk37CUDdXLoABu9onEqxd2 KnCHnnWkqptzcLNDbQ8uig3 TxId: 189929767f8c43a393fe902b1942303b4978e16c332f3e2b2c13d0fe149774d0
Nice. Someone seems to be working on this... At the moment VTR faucet at cryptoguru is disabled, so I suppose the issues are being looked into.

Just an idle question - what that "v" in the " vTorrent" means..? Is it related to "V for Vendetta" ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/V_for_Vendetta_(film)), or something different? In any case this can be used for good branding (torrents <-> freedom <-> "V for Vendetta"). The mask became a symbol for freedom fighting in many countries. Could be used with vTorrent on logo or wherever else...

Anyone noticed the new 0.8.1 wallet is huge (60MB vs 30MB of regular coin wallet)? Old wallet was 24MB. I wonder what is the reason for such dramatic size increase?
Also it seems it doesn't work on Windows XP... I know XP is old (not-supported-has-security-leaks-bla-bla-how-can-I-even-talk-about-this-old-os), but anyway, I have it on one of my machines, and it would be great if the wallet can work there. When run on my XP machine, the wallet just starts, shows the splash-screen, then after 5-10 sec exits without any error. Is there any specific reason this cannot work on XP? I doub't it is using something XP doesn't have...
@vTorrent, did you test this wallet on XP, and do you think it should work there?

New wallet is heavy on JavaScript.

I think VTR should start kicking soon with the activation of the torrent feature so VTR can have the huge part of the market in a shorter time possible.

So vtorrent has kindly let me try out the new wallet (minus torrent features); I've been asked to keep the file private but can share screenshots here. So yes, it does exist. It is functional, it is pretty slick and barring the blockchain completely syncing (it is taking some time) it looks quite nice. There is a BitTorrent section, but it has been deactivated on this particular copy of the program (vtorrent stated that it would be without torrent functionality as this is still in private testing) New features: -multiple windows for trading on bittrex -2FA via Google Authenticator -Key management -HD addresses -Block explorer Regarding the lack of any update on torrent functionality this is what vtorrent said on December 31st, 2014: Since Magnetz scam, I prefer to keep all the details about torrent implement from public until we release our first beta client with torrent implemented. As to when to expect torrent release, I have no information. That BitTorrent link in the client is in the video, but not on the latest release. Obviously, something is there. @Dev Any chance of a video of that opening up?

Obviously, something is there. @Dev Any chance of a video of that opening up? Yes button was there but it didn't work (it'd crash the client). I did investigate as much as I could of the code and found multiple references to the torrent feature--enough that I'm convinced that it does exist in some form, but dev stated that the client I was being sent would have all torrent functionality removed. So either the dev is pulling the biggest possible effort to pull the wool over people's eyes for the past 2 years or he is working on something slowly but surely. I think it goes without saying that beside all these other coins out there that no one has "cracked" a paid storage solution--and even the ones that are close don't consider bittorrent but instead P2P storage (a la dropbox). Joystream doesn't appear too fantastic, is tied to bitcoin itself (meaning transactional costs and bloat of the blockchain will make it not really work unless the blocksize of bitcoin magically increases tenfold overnight). What the internet needs but doesn't yet know it is a Kazaa-like bitorrent/cryptocurrency client (which is what the promise of VTR has always been); stuff like some community chat rooms as well as some way to rate content would turn it from an amazing idea into a game changer. Being able to put up bounties for shit (i.e. I want this specific file that only someone with access to an invite-only private tracker would have) would take things a step further.

One other thought on dev(s) capabilities: I do think you are right. This is going to be epic.

Anyone have a bootstrap for VTR? We were trying to update to the latest version but it looks like it requires an entire blockchain resync ;(
Thanks richie@bittrex

Everything is possible, but it will probably take 10-20 years to finish it.. 20 years ... by then I expect we'll download movies and porn direct to virtual reality upgrades in our brains , paying for viagra shots with iota directly from wifi cock wallet implants. This project doesn't have that long to deliver the goods
