241  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [BCN] Bytecoin (CPU-mining, true anonymity) on: May 17, 2014, 06:27:42 PM
Why did they use the name Bytecoin, when it is already in use?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=169559.0

Probably because BTE is an unapologetic 1:1 clone of bitcoin, while this bytecoin is brand new and innovative with a completely different algorithm.

Plus bytecoin sounds great as a successor to bitcoin.

I causes confusion for both coins.  If they can't do the basic check to see if the name is in use, that may make some people cautious of how much care they use in other areas.

There are a few more questions from the trollbox.

The important thing is that the DEM wallet works. I can deposit to it. When there are funds in it, I can make withdrawals. I can give a TXiD for my deposit, so everyone can check that I did make the deposit. When I deposit and give you notice, you know to withdraw, and nobody else does. You can see how much is available on the blockchain, people jumping in line are blind.

You can check the mining tab for DEM. You can see that I mined block 151,915 about 5 days ago, and you can see that those funds were withdrawn. The blockchain viewer is at http://emark-info.org/block/00000000000021278e3a851876bfdd72a0ff043c44d81df044506fa55053a6c2

When I make a deposit, the hot wallet has that much, or more, available for withdrawal. I send you, but no one else, the TXiD for the deposit. Then you are in a race. You can withdraw, and you know the maximum available. Random people can try to withdraw first, but they may have their request stuck in the queue.

244  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Stay away from Coinex.pw on: May 17, 2014, 01:35:37 PM
Every withdrawal attempt gets the notification "address invalid", even though the addresses I try to withdraw to are valid.

I have helped some people withdraw DEM.

can you tell me how can you help withdraw Huh?

i make withdraw and now

status is
BTC withdrawal queued a day ago

my balance is 0 and there is no  money on destination adress Sad

I deposit DEM, then notify the people.  They are able to withdraw then.
For example, I deposited 2,048 DEM on 2014-05-14.

If you try to withdraw when the wallet is empty, your funds go into the queue.  Some people claim that they remain stuck.

I withdrew 0.0199 BTC from coinex today.

I believe I can help people withdraw their coins at 50% of their account face value.
247  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Avalon Technical Support Thread on: May 16, 2014, 03:31:33 PM

I bought a TP-Link 703 from Amazon, loaded the image onto it, and was able to mine on my Avalon using it.  They cost about $25.

So, you don't know how to set up cgminer for avalon on windows or rpi?

TP-Link is the designer's choice.  The aftermarket purchase worked.  Use it, or not, as you choose.

Thanks, I just want to see if it work first before purchasing any hardware, hence just jamming it to an RPI I have or even my windows laptop to fire it up.

That makes sense.  A lot of people like the rpi, you might search for (rpi, cgminer, avalon).  I can't help, I focused on the TP-Link.

Hello everyone

I lucked into this avalon CCBMC-Avalon is the Model number.
I'm a newbie when it comes to SHA Asics, but I'm familiar and comfortable with GPU rigs, Gridseeds and raspberry pies.

I traced the issue to the TP link module, yeah it's shot.
I was reading in this thread early on that I should be able to run this thing from a laptop or use my RPI.
The controller board reads Avalon Project ControlUnit V1.5.

Can anyone point me to the CGMiner version any RPI images or the like?
I just need to see if this thing even works.

Also, this thing does NOT have Jumper 5, what is is P5?  So I'm a bit confused there.

Right now when I plug the RPI into the Avalon control unit, it powers up from the USB, so that might be useful for the pi, but would the avalon behave correctly?  Right now I can boot up and log in to the RPI because I cloned an image I made for gridseeds, raspbian with cgminer for gridseed and did up my own start up script for it, so I'm hoping it could be as easy as replacing the cgminer on it for an avalon version?

Not that many highlander men are effeminate.

Of course, there are misadventures.

And, some do wonder where the trousers are.

It is time that Mazacoin hit 500 sats again, where was the time that it was sooo high...does DEV in fact still have all his coins? All those pre-mine coins?

What does the block-chain say?

Hi, I am sorry if this has been already asked but a naive search couldn't find anything.

Can someone tell me how the fees are distributed and what is the "Eligius Payout Change Aggregation" address?

I am trying to understand how the fees work and how it is possible that the payout qeue has grown from 1 block to 8 in less than 3 days.

As different addresses reach the payout threshold, they enter the payout queue.  A small amount of mining that is spread among many addresses can bring all of them across the threshold, and thus make the payout queue large, both in the number of addresses, and the amount of payout.

Even taking that into account that it should stabilize soon after the manual payout process. At every block 25BTC + fees? are awarded for every block and 25BTC+fees are paid, some people with previous pending balances can reach the threshold but after the manual payout a lot of users pending balance will be 0 (indeed the majority, right now with 8 blocks there are over a thousand address in the qeue and just 5500 hashing accounts, this weekend with 60 blocks in the qeue, almost everyone should have been in the qeue).

The question is, what does "stable" look like.  Large numbers of addresses enter the queue from relatively small recent earnings.  Many of these have had a long time elapse since their last payout, and they get put at the top of the queue.

One of my accounts has almost 2 BTC in the unpaid shares (I forget their name for these).  A few lucky blocks will pay those unpaid shares to me.  There are several things going on.  It would be interesting to write a program to model "steady state" using realistic account data.  That data is pretty available from Eligius.

I made a Google form to help me know how many DEM people might want to buy.

  • There is no guarantee that you will be able to withdraw any DEM that you purchase.
  • The market will set the price.  I will make as much as I am able, but others can always sell at a lower price.
  • I will send out email 1 time to the next person who wants to buy.  The notices will go first come, first serve.
  • At this time, there is a limit of 255 DEM per email address.
  • There is no guarantee that coinex will accept and correctly process my DEM deposit.
  • I do not have any affiliation with coinex.
  • This is an attempt for me to make money.  I have substantial risk that coinex will never allow me to withdraw BTC.
  • This is an attempt to make a safety valve for the people who are the most worried about their coinex funds.
  • If you attempt to over withdraw the hot wallet, I do not know what coinex will do.

This must have been asked here before -- where can I see my number of shelved shares?

I picked an account at random from the payout queue.

For that account, the calculation is (1 - 0.9821) * 947.24262104  ---> 16.95 BTC

Still waiting for this payout: 2014-05-13 18:57:17 (G)   0.06033711 BTC

will it be done manually?

What does it say on your status page?

what coins have you guys been getting into while watching our maza die and having our hopes being crushed? Silkcoin looks pretty ineresting. They have a really active fulltime dev team and they have some pretty cool stuff in the works. Also guncoin has a pretty cool thing going on with a pretty unique purpose.

I'm holding Mazacoin.  I'm in for the long view.

whatever happened with the CNN thing.  Was it all bullshit, or did CNN just drop it and decide not to air it?

We had a news crew at our house, a few years ago, doing an interview.  They got a call, two children tried to run across the interstate  Sad
We got bumped.  Things happen.
