2422  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: OFFICIAL CGMINER mining software thread for linux/win/osx/mips/arm/r-pi 4.9.1 on: May 03, 2015, 09:27:08 PM

I really appreciate the easy to follow instructions.  They are perfect for someone like me who barely knows what each line is doing, thank you.

Installed the new binary on one of my underclocked ants and now the discard rate is much higher.  Averages around 6% now.  With the previous binary (4.3.2)

it was around  .2%.  Is this normal?

Exact setting I am using:  [196.88  69 5f06] with latest firmware.

Thanks!

On my now updated to 4.9.1a overclocked (393 freq) S1 I see 0 rejects (used to be around 0.3%), error rate is about the same ~1%.  Hash rate is up a little, too, but we'll see how that levels out.  I had to do the fix for LST time, but no big deal.  I updated the monitor script, too.

Question, I verified the cgminer version via API, but is there a way to see the version from the web GUI, too?  Just curious.

Looking very much forward to updated cgminer for my S3+, keep up the solid work, ck & Kano!

I've put up a new AntS1 binary in my binaries git hub of latest 4.9.1a cgminer - of course with the cgminer git version with the fixes in it.

I've tested it on my pool https://kano.is/ and also on p2pool (fired up my home one for a while for testing)
For details and installing: https://github.com/kanoi/cgminer-binaries/tree/master/AntS1

Great, will update my S1 straight away.  Thank you!

I don't know if 3 negs in a row ever happened.  we are really close to 0 at the moment .

https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty     (-0.09%)

www.coinbase.com = 234 usd

188 blocks to go means  12 noon to 4 pm eastern standard time  sunday the 3rd

Which, if I time everything just right, will be when I wake up.  Time for sleep, I will dream of negative network difficulty.
2425  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Newest Diff thread April 19th to May 1st-Closed for picks!! on: May 01, 2015, 02:42:20 PM
Also tonight we are sitting around 236.   It is on a downward trend slightly.

But not a bad day for btc price, overall a good day.

Bitcoin is making a late night rally currently 239.  Were going from downward trend to upward which is nice.

We will see hopefully we can get in 240's.  But I'm guessing there are some automatic triggers on trading that will have a little bit of a wall.

It turned back down while you slept, around $235 as I type this.  Price has been fairly stable this entire adjustment period.

hi there
i have a problem with wifi on s3+. all conected but as soon I unplug ethernet cable then wifi stops working and I cant connect:( i have external antenna with 100% signal. anyone can advice to set it up?

If you're using wifi, why is an ethernet cable plugged in?

Likely answer: you're not using wifi.

\o/ 2 in a day!
Does that make it a party?

It takes two to tango, three make it a party.

(you should change your sig to Kano CKPool, like you're supposed to change your app...)
2429  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 0.5% fee anonymous solo bitcoin mining! 41 blocks solved! on: May 01, 2015, 06:43:24 AM
Here's a painful eventuality for someone:

Code:
[2015-04-30 09:26:05] Possible block solve diff 47477499325.899284 !
[2015-04-30 09:26:05] SUBMIT BLOCK RETURNED: high-hash
[2015-04-30 09:26:05] Submitted, but rejected block 354334

Note that my ckpool code figures it may as well submit blocks that look very close to the diff in case there's a rounding error, but alas that really didn't meet the target which is currently 47610564513

So close...

Oh wow, 0.3% away.

How close does a hash need to be to network diff for the pool to submit it?
2430  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 0.5% fee anonymous solo bitcoin mining! 41 blocks solved! on: May 01, 2015, 06:41:08 AM
I wonder who 1FCsjVb87kf2QDETvEgpRkHwE3rYfi4dky is.. I like hearing people's stories on here.
Indeed, it adds to the community feel but one of the features of the pool is the relative anonymity of those mining here so if they choose to remain anonymous we'd have to respect that decision.

If I get a block you all will know it... Shocked

Ha ha, you can say that again!

So I just scrolled through over 4 pages of you two back and forth.  Maybe try PM next time, or chat, and not fill up the thread with pages and pages of troubleshooting.
2433  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Solo mining lottery on: April 30, 2015, 08:28:39 PM
I see lot's of people hashing at public solo pools, are any of you solo mining your own Bitcoin node?

I tried for a little while but it wasn't nearly as stable as mining to ck solo pool.
2434  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 0.5% fee anonymous solo bitcoin mining! 32 blocks solved! on: April 30, 2015, 06:31:54 AM

I modified the script with a unixtime stamp converter to show the lastupdate correct and i modified the layout for me.

Modified Script Download: solo-mining-stats-new.zip

It's not uncommon for me to look at my computer first thing in the morning or when I come home from work and to have this be closed.  Any idea why it would randomly self terminate?

1. No news (other than bad)

2. Lot's of news (none good)

It can't be both.

And guess what?  No one missed you, back to your troll cave.

If I could only find a way to monetize these FUD posts... Cheesy
2437  Other / New forum software / Re: The 1.5 million dollar (5067 bitcoin) new bitcoin talk forum. on: April 29, 2015, 08:35:47 PM
Then it seems to me the obvious solution is to ban account sales, not advertising campaigns.

I have wondered why accounts are permitted to be sold since I joined here, especially ones with trust.  Trust must be earned, not purchased.  I would support banning account sales 100%, I do not see how that contributes to our community at all.

Speaking of trust, as of this post I do not see trust ratings displayed any more.  New change?
2438  Other / New forum software / Re: The 1.5 million dollar (5067 bitcoin) new bitcoin talk forum. on: April 29, 2015, 06:00:35 PM
Members that I've talked to for years have either vaporized or post very infrequently.

That's the way most online forums are.  Rarely do you see users who maintain a high level of involvement year after year after year; either they tire of the forum or of whatever hobby that forum is supporting.  This is hardly the fault of signature campaigns.

I would say my opinion is biased as well, since I participate in a sig campaign, but it's no more biased that those who don't participate and don't like it.  I actually see more spammy posts/posts that make no sense/bad google translation posts from people without ad signatures than those with.

Support the little guy, both advertiser and avertisee, keep paid signature campaigns around.

When a forum is properly curated and moderated, you see people sticking around for a long time. When you have a free-for-all like you have here, the trolls and other anti-social people are allowed to run rampant and it chases away the intelligent people that are here for proper discourse. It's not a surprise and happens all the time with unmoderated or lightly moderated forums. Without moderation, a forum will decend to the lowest common denominator, which is that of the trolls and anti-social element and that's exactly what we've seen here.

The problem is keeping a good moderator staff that has the ability to fairly and more importantly CONSITENTLY moderate a forum. Right now, this forum lacks any sort of real moderation and the moderation staff are inconsistent in their applications of what few rules there actually are. So if you want a forum that's useful and maintains users for a length of time, you need to a) start moderating heavily and properly and b) get a good moderation staff. Both of those things are incredibly difficult to do, unfortunately and even money can't buy a good, consistent staff. That takes time to build.

I have to wonder if the sheer volume of posts this forum receives has something to do with the level of moderation.  There's like 20+ pages of new posts every 30 minutes, it must be difficult to review every thread, not to mention every individual post.

2440  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer U3 on Minera (raspberry pi software) using CGminer 4 on: April 29, 2015, 04:52:05 PM
Extra info:
Left it run for the night, come back the following morning, U3 isn't running. Go and have a look, seems that the power brick burnt out. After getting in contact with the store, they tell me that the frequency was set too high and that's why it was running slow and overheated the power block. Since I see no way to set the frequency in Minera, he recommended me to use MinePeon, or directly from the PC.

Finding your U3 zombied is par for the course, it's how these things operate.  They might run solid for a couple days, they might zombie out many times in a single day, they are not very stable machines.

The factory power bricks are notoriously crap, as are the USB cables they come with.  Use a good usb cable on a powered usb hub and see if that helps.

If there is no way to set the freq in your setup, then how could it be "too high"?  It would be at stock 225 without any additional parameters.  And it's bumping the voltage up that burns out the power bricks, not freq.
