2441  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: theASIC miner availible! on: June 02, 2013, 12:56:51 PM
Hello everbody,

i can assure, that theASIC isn`t scam. The embedded board which is controlling theASIC is definitly based on a (modified) PandaBoard solution (to get the chaining feature, the power supply etc.). It`s also no classic "firmware" update of which i`m talking about, it`s the OS and applications on this embedded board which are going to be upgraded.

I will post a video tomorrow, as i don`t have a device at home and saturday is rather my family-day AND because of this:
I don`t tolerate to call us scammer, as we were really working extremly hard developing this device (which works really fine btw.). It costs us much time and a lot of money. If you don`t have faith in us - just don`t order a device, thats not my problem. I think you forum haters will also call BFL and Avalon a scammer, because you haven`t order sufficiently early enough, now are in a waiting queue and now make yours problem to them.

Greets,

Tom

You have to understand that people are risk adverse when it comes to loosing btc.

If what you say is true then why don't you pm me.

At the very least you can get me to validate a prototype.

I can even give access to the cgminer team if your claim is real you should consider this as an investment in your product.

Looking like they will be able to manage the repair of the unit.

Odd thing is the #6 module was on hashing unit #3 and not #1 as originally suggested.

I appreciate that Bitaxe had the thermal image device as it helped in tracking down the defective module.

Were they able to find out what was wrong with the module?

It was narrowed down to one of the components however I am still waiting on confirmation.

Yes...I am very patient. How about a picture of you, holding the PCB in front of your office at the Advanced Technology Centre?

Today I along with 2 other colleagues have met with one of their reps for lunch.

He brought along 3 of their PCB's to give out.

The meeting was productive and we walked away with a few more irons in the fire.

They are in discussions about exploring other options to provide cloned Avalon units following the path set by other project teams.

I have included photos below of the pcb's

I could of taken video however I think its best to see if I can get the thermal image video of Avalon Unit #445 module #6 that is acting up.

Getting TI video/images of it running before and after and being able to use one of the V1.3 boards would help demonstrate that the plans do work with
Avalon ASIC chips along with giving clout to their ability to do what they claim.

I am told that this pcb is not resin filled however it is V1.3

Perhaps Edmonton will be seeing their 2nd gold rush event soon.

One thing I like about this new version from Avalon team is how flush the ASIC thermal pad will contact the Heat sink.

Will see after today and tomorrows meeting goes on what next step will be taken to get the repair done.

2449  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: May 28, 2013, 04:09:06 AM
Thank you for your work.
I really do not understand Avalon ... Would be so easy to get you at least a one module device
1. thx too  Smiley
2. best thing they could do to send you and/or kano only one module for free...
(IMHO)
Send 2 modules to him Smiley
I'm not sure why they say they wont do it ...

Avalon itself do not wish to get involved with it,
the reason for this is we wish to avoid all form of drama of the question "who deserve a unit and who didn't and why." not to mention the lack of Avalon Units due to attempting to scale up production

While we appreciate ckolivas' work very much, and we have donated bitcoins to him on various occasions,
the decision for him to support Avalon on cgminer is entirely up to him. We are not obligated to provide him an Avalon Unit just like he is not obligated to provide support for Avalon in cgminer, this is the nature of open source. if those Avalon Owners who wish ckolivas to continue supporting are welcome to donate to him so he can get a unit.

Of course, we'd like ckolivas and others to continue to support Avalon, so we have created the 6Gh/s dev-board( 65W, 40 degrees C passively cooled) so we can send to developers so it may aide them in R&D.

as ckolivas mentioned, he opted for the latter and will receive one shortly.
Actually it isn't the nature of OpenSource. That statement is blatantly false.
Typically hardware developers support OpenSource by providing the OpenSource software developers with hardware.
They understand that providing that hardware is good for them and good for their customers
I think you should read up about that before making false statements.
Even in the Bitcoin world it happens.
BFL do it, Black Arrow Lancelot does, Asicminer does, ModMinerQuad did ... and I'm sure there are others.
But ... Avalon does not since they have a monopoly where they can sell everything they have without concern for how they treat their customers.

So basically you are saying with the 6GH/s board, rather than sending a 22GH/s box with only one card or even a larger box with more cards, to save money you spent the effort developing a 6GH/s board ... right ... why do I wonder about the validity of that statement.

I find the statement amusing where you give the people who buy Avalons from you the go-ahead to donate to ckolivas ...
They need that from you?

Basically what has happened since January is that Avalon has failed to support the OpenSource cgminer software to fix problems with the version YOU released - ignore the official version, I'm talking about the Avalon version.

ckolivas has gone in and fixed a lot of these problems but due to lack of hardware and not having constant access to it, these fixes are slow to get out.
So, as with most of your support, it's bad luck for the customer.

If anyone is mining on an Avalon and is losing mining time due to it failing, you know why.

Don't forget that they are doing their part in working towards decentralizing mining.
That itself is costing them plenty. Look at asicminer and soon to be other projects that are offering local centralized mining to shareholders and are making a killing.
2450  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon mining rig CLONES available for preoder (85+ GH/s) on: May 28, 2013, 03:52:18 AM
Why dont you offer me or some other hero member a free flight plus trip and hotel to your office.

So we could check it and vouch for you

nice try for make a free vacation to Switzerland Smiley
I'm kidding, in any case we are open to any visits, I see you live in germany, maybe is not so far from here.

We have also in plan to send 1 or 2 (not more because the first batch is only 30 elements) avalon clone to some big/trusted/hero reviewers,
we are also open to organize some skype/webcam meeting where we show our faces (Smiley) and the whole project
Actually what you should be doing is sending one to ckolivas, the main developer of cgminer.

It would be in your best interest also of course.

Yes please Smiley He has been hard at work using my Avalon for over a week now in order to make the DYI projects succeed.

If anyone could validate your unit perfectly he can.

The one thing I could never figure out: if god is love why is there hell? If god is forgiving, why is hell eternal?

Not all christian religions subscribe to the teaching of hell or in Sheol as a place of eternal torment, but rather a place of rest and sleep of having no awareness what so ever.
2454  Other / Off-topic / Re: Religious beliefs on bitcoin on: May 27, 2013, 05:02:21 PM
What would you do if you could abolish all things you felt were untruth.

Religion is a manmade club like any other, with rules by which to segregate and perks to make the club feel special from other clubs. The club gets together periodically to reinforce the delusions of members. Many branches of this club have dues which most call a tîthe. Each club redefines words so its intolerance seems righteous.

You've chosen, or were likely born into a family who joined, the club that aligns best with your own fantasy concerning how to minimize your fears in life. You and others in the club are afraid so you've made up a god that soothes you by making decisions for you, helping you feel less alone in the universe, and promising you life everlasting. The various club gods offer perks to induce membership such as seeing dead relatives, virginal séx partners, planets to rule or even one's own god status.

The Jesus mythologized in Christianity never existed, was and is king of nothing. The bible is a collection of stolen, modified, pre-fabricated myth and forgeries about a non-existent deity. You don't have to be afraid.

You go ahead and attempt to relate your perception to explain my choices in life..

Fear, control, and freedom are illusions. Imminent dangers excluded, I have overcome the fears that were imposed on me by those using ideologies that you subscribe too.

You assume much about me.

"Some people are, to be blunt, stupid while others are smart...
Some people are sheep, some are wolves..."

When the mentally ill rise to power, they dominate corrupted by hubris and greed.

Humans are pack social creatures and every pack needs a leader...

There is a huge distinction between a leader and a tyrant.

Is that not why you yourself are looking into Bitcoin?

All leaders be them tyrants or respected hero's are a byproduct of their environment. Failing to see this early in life brings on life long issues. Our own brains development is effected by our environment and the company we keep.

It is well known that a person nurtured in a social loving environment have greater potential of making needed connections in brain development, that result in a healthy identity of self.
This self awareness develops balance and reasonable nature that enable them to become future leaders.

Seems that everyone is designing boards and waiting for Avalon to ship their chips, it seems making chips is where the money is, I might be wrong though Roll Eyes

For now this true however with gen 2 ASIC and other completed ASIC systems soon being offered will change things up a bit.
2457  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [REQUEST] Avalon ASIC Modules [REQUEST] on: May 27, 2013, 12:50:16 PM
So I've seen alot of business crop up around the soon to be needed Avalon chip assembly space, but I wanted to know will any be making Avalon chip modules to run in tandem with the 1,500 Avalon ASIC units slated to be in existence?

seems their is also another outfit planning on supporting that idea.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=215659.0

However I hope to validate the claims this week.
2458  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Avalon Technical Support Thread on: May 27, 2013, 05:31:00 AM
Nice. I too grabbed a AX860 (not the i version as I don't need the fancy pants control feature) but have yet to put it into action - will do so when batch delivers...sometime this year hopefully  Tongue

I must also correct my statement there. At 300 the system consumes 625 to 630 watts at 120v. I finnally got around to putting a "kill-a-watt" type power meter on my unit and that what it says. Keeping in mind that the batch 1 units came with Antec 650 Watt units, I am quite amazed my unit's PSU has lasted this lost at what is pretty much almost 100% capacity.

Consider posting what your voltage is at that effects the power draw in watt units.

I am below 600 watts on a hot day 28-31 Ambient temp at 120v with the 860i

Perhaps the Law as Moses recorded it was more Godly in what it did not include.

If god is a capriciously violent, petulant, masochistic twit, then yes, biblical "law" is godly. As for good versus bad, the average 10th grade student could write better law than the pathetic weakling "god of Israel".

KeyserSoze

What would you do if you could abolish all things you felt were untruth.

The way your going on leaves the impression you have no tolerance for other views.

You do realize that the path of spiritual awareness is a personal one. The only way to grow to understand the God you go on about is to walk along side by side with "God"

This monolithic creator who's name is YHWH יהוה and is the God of Abraham. It is the same God that Judaism, Islam, and Christianity worship.

Please remember God is Love above all other things. A reasonable level of tolerance even if we do not agree with the "choices" made are what we all should strive for.

Not a single person here would deny the fact that you have faith in your perception of this world.

However you have left the impression with your comments that you live with out faith in anything even yourself.

This path will bind you for the rest of your life and is not something that one should wish on anyone.

Remember that we are all playing our part on the stage of this play. What role you wish to play is your own.

I like to follow recent discoveries that help filter out any abusive interpretations that some have made over the centuries of the words of inspiration given to men.

Arguments like these remind me of the words pended in Luke 19:40

40 “I tell you,” he replied, “if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.”

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Higgs_boson is one of this century’s most intriguing possibilities to helping us understand this existence we all share.

It is evident your convictions show a distrust to organized religion since it is beyond your present ability to relate.

I also understand that a small minority of the human population have used this system to control the majority and even today continue to promote selfish motives at the cost of the innocent.

However they themselves will have an accounting.

Please realize that those that read your words may "follow" your view for the rest of their lives. Even if maybe 10 years down the line you happened to find "GOD" those same people will be still following your ideology and presumptions you have shared with us this day.

The problem here is that words and the time we have can never fully convey the journey each of us take and have taken in life.

Alfred Lord Tennyson's poem In Memoriam:27, 1850:

`I hold it true, whate'er befall;`
`I feel it, when I sorrow most;`
`Tis better to have loved and lost`
`Than never to have loved at all`

On a lighter note I post a link to a video of inspiration for all those that can relate Smiley

Enermax has a really good reputation.
Can you name the exact type

ENM750EWT-S 80plus Gold

Are you running the miners at 300? If so this PSU might not be able to take such high level of load for a long time (at 300 the power consumption should be close to 710 to 720 watts...possibly less if your psu is 80+ platinum). It is also possible that your PSUs were in a "bad batch" (assuming you bought them from the same place all at once)

I got a Corsair AX860 but I've yet to install it. From what I read these are good PSUs.

I upgraded to Corsair AX860i and they are have had no problems with up time.

I have posted details about this here.
