2461  Economy / Speculation / Re: BITSTAMP eXchange wall Observer. second biggest and best exchange on: October 07, 2013, 11:07:45 PM
Someone just sold ~2800 at once, severely knocking down Bitstamp's buy-side. That's a huge move for Bitstamp. No obvious movement on other exchanges. Any news?

Bids have already recovered 50%.

1 hr later a buy eats the tiny ask wall. No big deal.

And now made a new 3d high.

Cant say I've ever found a use for bitcoin aside from buying illegal substances...

Which is why I just like to trade it.
2463  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bullish scenario on: October 07, 2013, 04:00:18 PM
lol a flashcrash confirming a lower trendline? Is this some kind of bad joke?

It is what it is

What this is is lines on a chart. Not TA.

i'll take lines on a chart over emotionally bear talk, anyday.

At least emotional talk can be funny. Lines on a chart is just too common.

Not sure I follow, why does it seem like a joke ?

The slope is well defined from a trend which goes back months in time to before the bubble peak. The flash crash as you call it, could have fallen to any level above or below where it did, however it fell to the exact same line on my lower channel creating a second touch point. This could be co-incidence to some, to me this is a good confirmation of the new slope of the trendline. It is a bullish trend line. The other trend lines above on my chart have many touch points which gives me confidence in the slope.

If you are here to attack technical analysis I suggest you wasting your time, this is the speculation forum.

I thought there'd be more bears here though. Have you noticed how all the bitcoin bears are ripple fanatics ?

A flashcrash is not effected significantly by a support level for obvious reasons (Bids dont get the chance to fill in. The SOLE reason for the price to stop falling is that selling has stopped) Support is BUYING pressure. Not a lack of selling pressure.

Imagine one more person offloading 5k stash. Now the low would be ~105, slightly below the trend. Or one less person, slightly above. The fact it ended very near this line is nothing but coincidence.

Only need a 33k sell to be pushing a new low... Cheesy

ATM bid and ask is slightly worse than the pre-crash, but a market order to the low 140's would fix that, as long as there is $$$ to fill the bids in.

Quite surprising how quickly it all went.
On topic. The rapid recovery from the SR news shows massive support in the market for the $130-140 level on mtgox ($120-125 on bitstamp).

Questionable. Its really hard to say anything until withdrawal issues are fixed.

Bistamp/BTC-E/etc. cant really separate fully from Gox because people wont sell for [Well, currently wont sell for...] less than ~$25 from Gox price. And it makes sense for it to be that way. If I could sell on bitstamp for $5 under Gox I would. But I cant. Others are willing to take bigger hits. But few would take less than 20% loss, preventing more separation.

Plus, like others said, the whole ordeal was just people hoping to buy back lower.

Nice to see daily volume over 100,000 again  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy
Wow, I didn't notice until now. Major volume.
perhaps a totally dumb newbquestion:
bitcoinccharts down for me, and according to
http://data.bitcoinity.org/#ccbcdfdfaa
we had 175.000 volume  Huh
while
http://bitcoinwisdom.com/markets/bitstamp/btcusd
says 56.000 (or doesn't V: stand for volume in this case?)

any other reliable source?

Gox 106000
Bitstamp 57000
2468  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: October 02, 2013, 09:50:04 PM
If we hit 110$ once, we can hit that low again. I hope Gox won't lag anymore, so I can trade without worrying about my order being 5 min late.

Its 20kBTC away from $110 after touching it twice hours ago. Seems unlikely.
meh, that logic only works if gox leads. if bitstamp leads, with its depth.....

stamp dropping fast from 110, now 102........ it will lead the next drop;......

Sure hope so.
imo I would still be cautious.  SR accounted for ~300-400 million in revenue a year for bitcoins.  Much of which was from fresh money being brought in by customers.  I don't know of anything else in the same stratosphere in terms of bringing in money into the network.  SR was/is a big deal.  Will there be other sites to take its place?  Sure.. but to what extent they will fill that void remains to be seen.  Also will customers/vendors of these sites be weary about jumping back into this market?

Bitcoin doesn't earn revenue, and SR was mostly neutral for supply and demand.

Buyers bought btc, sellers sold btc to buy product.

By this atrocious logic, bitcoin could be valued at$1 and be a useful currency.

No. The bigger the operation, the more money it needs to function, even with no net gain loss.

Next freefall incoming?

Bid/Ask shows no signs of weakness. Bids continue to rise from a low of $7.5mill to $12.2mill; asks holding steady at 57k.
2471  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: October 02, 2013, 07:47:51 PM
I sent my coins to bitstamp to sell high and buy low, I ended up waiting 45 minutes price went below 104 I sold at 98$ didnt want to buy back at 85 thinking it would go lower... than boom it went up to 120+
I still think it is to early to judge about baying back, I didn't learn anything, the only thing that I've learned is that I suck at trading .... I will wait , maybe I will have luck and price drop below 90 again.....  Angry

Just remember when trading, there are people dumber than you who will make irrational choices that can and will fuck you over.

Such as the buyers on bitstamp Tongue

even worst, my friend 5 hours earlier needed cash to buy something,  I told him that he can sell me some BTC, I took all 17.5BTC he had at 126.88$ , called me later to tell that he feels sorry , I asked he feels sorry about what then he just replied the price just drooped for 8$, when I went to my PC it was already at 116$ .... just checked the SR news ... and my brain was on sell mode .... my wife told me to calm down and I was like this is my chance this my chance to make some profit....

I would stick to the 8BTC that i could make at 85$, I am so mad at my self now.

Cool it, wait, theres high probability that price will fall again.

YOUR OPTI-PESSIMISSIM IS NOT RATIONAL.

You can go lay in a bathtub with drain and water running.

Cut your vein open and end yourself.

Dont be an amature and cut across the vein, cut ALONG the vein so you're not embarassed being caught with an "attempt".

you seem expert at this ..... this makes me think about what kind of life you have there.... I feel sorry for you.

I'm a psychiatrist. I happen to deal with alot of ppl like you.

ah ok... I see what kind of a person you are, the one who knows everything after reading 2 lines Wink I have dealt with your kind as well, though I am not a psychiatrist, But I can tell that people like you have no social life and lack of confidence...... hold up there bud, there is always hope Wink

LOL thats funny, you're the one that cant stand the heat in this game. Soon or later you're gonna make another psychological mistake and seek professionals like me.

I met ppl like you from stock market crash in 2008. So i can tell you just take a short cut and avoid all the stress.

Havent you just explained to us that we shouldnt take the short cut, rather the long cut?

-BTW, hes clearly not a Psychiatrist. [And hes not trying to act like one either, so its funny]

Huge bidwalls appearing on bitstamp at high $120s. Now, I understand the Gox buyers. But what are those people smoking? Thats ABOVE the pre-SR news price.
