what's the address for checking that report status?

If you click on "Report to moderator" button, you reach this page:

Within this page you have to click on "Your report history" button. The next displayed page is the page where you can see the status of your reports, as it follows:
- all reports made within past 30 days (if they are less than 5000)
- only last 5000 reports, in case you made more than 5000 reports within past 30 days (5000 reports displayed is the maximum displayed limit, so if you make 5000 reports in only 1 day, you will not see the reports you made yesterday -- as example).

However, you will not see that button ("Your report history") unless you have made already 300 good reports. It's like a perk, if you want, which unlocks you this feature after reaching 300 good reports.

What's up with the @bitcoin forum suddenly deleting posts here 5 years later  Huh

Should just  lock this topic, it's a dead project lol

The topic gets cleaned of all its spam and zero-value posts, and it is a part of a more vast move I started in December 2021, which consisted in cleaning all topics full of junk mentioned it in Rikafip's thread. This topic did not use bumping services but it also contained many useless posts and Rikafip found it in Feb 2022. I started working on cleaning this thread a few days ago and, with Welsh's help, we managed together to delete 199 pages of posts. The process will continue until the rest of the topic is clean.

was wondering as well with 6 post deleted. recently though ive read a thread about what OP did to this ANN thread like deleting the first post. it doesnt make sense why ours are deleted as well. something is not right.

someone's been deleting posts from this topic as crazy, I've got like 10 posts deleted over the last 12 hours

All zero-value posts are deleted, no matter who wrote them.

Sup fellas (big lol again)

As I stated above, I started cleaning DECENT topic with much enthusiasm. The topic was not full of spam, nor used bumping services, therefore it was harder to clean it than I expected. Most of the reported posts were made by frustrated users, probably because they bought high and the coin dumped. So far I made 1237 reports, all but 1 handled already. This means that I reduced the topic with 61-62 pages. However, the topic is reduced now with 199 pages and this was possible only due to Welsh, which worked in par with me, and deleted 137 pages on his own. Thank you Welsh for the big help! We can say that's Decent enough (pun intended Smiley ).

I parsed all posts made from most recent until page 299 (which contains posts from June 2017) and my intention was go keep parsing until the date of Jan 1st, 2017, being afraid to have my reports flagged as bad, for reporting posts too old, if I would have gone beyond that date.

However, something happened and for the moment I will stop here, as I need some information from Welsh.

The problem is that 11 out of my last 13 reports were flagged as bad although, in my opinion, they should be deleted.

The posts in question are the following:

As you can see, all are similar to previous reports I made from this topic; most of them contain swearing or zero value; and all previous similar reports were flagged as Good. As a consequence, I am thinking (1) this is either a mistake from the mod which handled these reports; or, (2) another mod and not you handled them and considered them too old and flagged them all as bad, which was my main fear, as I wrote above, but this was for posts older than Jan 1st 2017 and, as you can see these are from Jun 2017.

@Welsh if you agree, I can dig more inside this topic, even earlier than the date of Jan 1st, 2017, but I am afraid that I can have my reports marked as bad if I keep making them. I mean, in case my reports will come to you, I believe you'll mark them as good, but maybe they will arrive in another mod's hand? (I'm saying that thinking that these bad reports where flagged as bad not by you, but by another mod; even so, do you have any idea why they were flagged as bad?) However, in case we can make an agreement, thus just you will take care of this thread, I am more than willing to dig also through the posts made earlier than Jun 9th, 2017, and also earlier than Jan 1st, 2017. Please let me know.

The posts made until Jan 1st, 2017, reach page 232 of the topic, thus I could still parse 67 pages more. However, I need to know how to proceed, as I don't want to end up having my next ~1000 reports flagged as bad (I calculated 20 posts per page multiplied by 67 pages of posts made between June 9th, 2017 and Jan 1st, 2017 and the result is 1340 posts; however, not all of them need to be reported, this being why I estimated that I'll probably made 1000 more reports from these pages).

In case another mod handled these reports as bad not by mistake, but because he considered the posts too old, I think that best approach would be here -- if possible -- to send a note to your mod colleagues and tell them to leave all the reports from this thread to be handled by you. At least, you know what is happening with this thread and why these reports appear, for such old posts. And it's happening because we discussed to clean this monster topic as well. I am more than willing to clean it entirely, but also I would not want to have 1000 bad reports in a row...

Until I'll receive a reply from you I'll make a double-check through the thread, from its most recent page to page 299.

What do you think about this thread [ANN][PX][PRESALE] ProtocolX Decentralized Trading Protocol on BSC [METAVERSE]⚡⚡? Their thread started to get infested by the bumping accounts on the list referred above as well as several bumping accounts tagged by lovesmayfamilis

I'll keep it under watch, but when I opened it first time it was clean I opened it when you mentioned it. And now, days later, it's still clean.

GazetaBitcoin was being sarcastic if I read him wrong otherwise.
I had well understood the sarcasm and the underlying irony

I am more than please to see that my humor is well understood. You are both right about my intentions.

yes, but in fact I was referring to BitcoinSV, not to Gazeta

That amused me laugh so much Smiley

Who cares where is your name putting by a troll.

Excepting the fact that I was sarcastic in my previous post, I was also trying to show how ridiculous is that list, that he keeps mentioning here and there lately. First of all, what is a black list? It is not, for sure, his distrust list. Also for sure, it is not his ignore list. That list, with a name supposed to make impression, only impresses by the fact that it is ridiculous and it has absolutely no meaning -- for any forum user but even for its author as well.

As a plus, besides the fact that the list is absolutely useless, it also looks like it was made by an amateur, as it does not even contain unique entities. One user appears 5 times, another one appears twice and so on. I think that not even the author has any idea about what it means, but he still keeps mentioning the list in various places, like the readers should be aware, in a way, of its existence Smiley

Sup fellas (big lol)

Since my last post I cleaned the following topics:

After 562 reports, MyTVchain was reduced from 37 pages to 8. Relictum was already cleaned by someone, as when I bookmarked it it had 35 pages, but when I started to clean it I saw it has only 13 pages and most of the remaining posts are made by OP. I had to report only 4 posts here.

Having this said, all topics posted by Rikafip in the first two posts of this thread can be considered cleaned. It was a huge work, which took about 4 months, but it's finally done!

Now wish me luck, as I started working on what is, probably, the longest thread ever to be cleaned: Decent thread which had, at start, 788 pages.

I'll let you know when I finish (probably in about 25 years, when I'll also retire from work Smiley  Shocked

Is it like saying someone standing in for an election shouldn't vote? I really don't understand that point of yours. Nonetheless, I'm suggesting that every comment on the voting thread shouldn't be merited once the thread is opened going forward. No merit should be sent at all, whether to nomination posts or to comments suggested during the voting process. I believe meriting posts tilts the votes. I'm not sure I merited any post that nominated me.

I think you misread what I wrote. I said to be disqualified all those which are sending merits to voters. By doing so they encourage some voters to vote for them, thus influencing the final result, in an abusive way. Please read the posts made within this thread from page 12 forward and you'll understand better. Then please read this post to understand even better.

Quote
Another suggestion that I am making is to take the contest to Ivory Tower board, thus ensuring that no members with ranks below Full Member are able to interfere
That will be another good way to look at it because those within the ranks mentioned may not have been long in the forum to truly understand its activities and to be familiar with some of the usernames to the point of  knowing what categories to nominate them for.

This suggestion, together with the previous one, were both aimed to offer more fairness to the competition. This contest was made 2 years in a row now and we noticed that there are ways of abusing it and influencing final results. Therefore I made some suggestions for better preventing fraud.

2472  Economy / Reputation / Re: [DT only] Question about Bitcointalk Awards on: March 14, 2022, 03:19:02 PM
Ladies and gentlemen, I'd also like to express my opinion here, although, most likely, it will not influence the consensus already achieved.

First of all, I want to say that I agree, in most parts, with the statements of the Supreme Leader, LoyceV, NeuroticFish, RikaFip, fillippone et al. And "in most parts" represent that I agree 99% with all of them. Obviously, I also agree that merits given to OP should not be counted as abuses. And yes, it's unfair to change rules during a competition.

However,

Although what I'll write below will not change anything, I am kindly asking you all to read carefully.

Everything you stated above is correct -- in normal conditions. But what we are dealing with are not normal conditions. History showed us that extraordinary events lead to extraordinary measures, measures not included in any contract, any set of rules of any competition.

Example 1:
When pandemic started in 2020 many football leagues had to stop. The federations from those countries did not know what to do. Therefore, questions appeared: should we stop the league?; who should we declare as winner?; should we declare a winner?; who will be demoted to second league?; who will be promoted to first league?; if we stop the competition what will we do with the televisions, which paid us a fixed amount of money for delivering them a fixed amount of games? -- and so on.

Covid pandemic was an extraordinary incident which needed extraordinary measures. In this case, although it was not stated in any set of rules of any football federation about what to do in case of a pandemic, each federation changed and adapted its rules during the competition. In this case, some declared winner the team which was on first place when the league was stopped, no matter there were still games to be played, no matter that teams from places 2-6 still had chances to win the league. Some federations stated that no team will be demoted to the inferior championship but still, 2 teams will be promoted to first league, extending the first league team number by 2. Some federations broke the contract with the television by not delivering them the previously settled number of games. Some federations did not declare any winner.

Of course many teams objected, especially those which still had chances to win the league or those interested in qualifying in European cups but the federation denied their chances etc.

No matter these objections, the federations changed the rules during the competition as they were facing an extraordinary incident, which needed extraordinary measures.

Example 2:
Manchester United suspended Mason Greenwood after the player became the subject of a Police investigation, as he was accused by his fiancee for violence and domestic abuse.

I believe that there was no rule written in the contract between the player and his team regarding the possibility of domestic abuse. Furthermore, I am more than sure that there is no such rule stated by UK footbal federation. However, player's behavior was an extraordinary incident, which needed extraordinary measures. Therefore, the club took the one-way decision to suspend the player.

Furthermore, the player was arrested by Police. As there was no rule in his contract to allow the club to suspend him if he gets arrested, then logically thinking the player should have been let as able  to play. (I know, this sounds ridiculous, but please bear with me here.) So in this case, as there was no such rule inside his contract, then also logically speaking, if the player would evade Police arrest he would be able to play in Premiership, right (until Police would catch him again during the game)? But of course this can not happen, excepting the fact that there are almost zero chances for him to evade from Police arrest, but also because he is suspended by the club. And again: the club took a one-way decision, although there was nothing in player's contract regarding what happens if he is arrested by Police, and the club took this extraordinary measure because it was needed by this extraordinary incident. We can say that the club set a new rule for this player, although his contract was still active with its previously set of rules.

Example 3:
Russia's national football team and all Russian football teams (plus teams / players from other sports) were banned by FIFA and UEFA after Russia invaded Ukraine. Furthermore, Russia was forbidden to even use its name in case they will ever play again. Russia's national team was banned from qualifying round to World Cup from Quatar; Spartak Moskow football team was excluded from Europa League; UEFA Champions League final was moved by UEFA from St. Petersburg to Paris. Furthermore, UEFA cancelled the contract with Gazprom.

UEFA and FIFA took these extraordinary measures because of the extraordinary incident representing Russia's invasion in Ukraine.

I think you all realize that there was no rule stated within FIFA's / UEFA's football regulations for how to proceed in case Russia invades Ukraine. Therefore, we can say that both FIFA and UEFA changed the rules during competitions. Even regarding the contract with Gazprom, I am sure there was no rule within the contract about cancelling the contract if Russia invades Ukraine. So again, UEFA changed the contract terms only on its own, and in this case changing the contract terms means that it declared the contract from being active to cancelled.

The above examples represent the 1% for which I can not totally agree with what was written above. We are facing a case of extraordinary incidents during this contest, which need extraordinary measures. On one side, there are so-called merit-giver abusers, which are meriting voters for their own benefit, looking for more nominations and, on another side, we have so-called merit-whores, meaning those voting just because they know they'll get merits from that.

Now indeed, if such extraordinary measure were to be taken, they would also affect users which gave votes only from their big heart and with no interest. I would never think about fillippone, for example, that he would try to attract votes by giving merits to voters. fillippone is a man with spine, which would never do that. icopress also merited the voters. This is ironical, as he would also lose his nominations. But again, I am 100% certain that he did that only for fun or for encouraging purposes and he never thought about obtaining more votes. Examples can continue, but there's no point in doing that.

What I was saying was that many users, which had no shenanigans in their mind, would be affected. But same happened in summer of 2020, when football federations denied the chance of many teams to win their championships. Extraordinary measures were taken, because extraordinary incidents happened. In our case is the same.

And I consider that in such extraordinary cases, no matter a rule was not stated from beginning, it can be applied though, as it's a case of an extraordinary context / incident what led to even think about that new rule. If the context was all normal there would not have been even a discussion about a new rule, in first place. But since the discussion was started, it was started because it was needed. And it was needed because some tried to cheat the system for 500$ or a few votes.

I'd also like to thank to all which took their time to read this.
2473  Economy / Reputation / Re: [Discussion] Bitcointalk Community Awards 🏆 on: March 14, 2022, 07:41:36 AM

There's no doubt that some of the voting members are purely driven to nominate users giving out Merit if you nominate them. It's obvious and somehow an act of "buying" nominations. The people giving out Merit are getting more nominations and the people nominating such members will obtain a cheap bunch of Merits.
That's not how it works and it's outright manipulating the contest.

In my opinion, nominations where a Merit was given by the nominated member, should be removed by half because it wasn't defined in the rules but awarding full points would be manipulation. [...]

And next time, we can add it to the rules that giving out Merit, if someone is voting for you, will remove this vote entirely.

As always, 1miau speaks the voice of ration. Only a blind one would not observe everything that 1miau emphasized so well here. Fortunately, most of us are not blind.

n0nce, you may be too new here to know the "iconic figures" of the forum (I suggest you to read mostly the unedited posts from ninjastic.space). Bitcoin SV and others may suffer from severe dementia or, at least, they share the same syndromes. Similar to the old troll Timelord2067 (which, probably after evading from a mental institution started to believe that he lives on Galiffrey), Bitcoin SV probably took him as a mentor and started editing his posts with something which is somehow exactly the opposite of what he stated before. It is not unseen before and, after smoking certain types of shrooms it is possible to get such a severe brain damage that to think exactly the opposite of what you stated just 10 minutes earlier.

But not to worry, we all know them and, in time, you'll also get to know better these "remarkable figures".

Heads-up:

Since my last post I cleaned the following topics:

1. The "sup fellas group" (this sounds so amusing Smiley Maybe instead of my usual "Heads-up" I'll use "Sup fellas" from now on )

From these topics I reported 240 posts.

2. Then I took another quick clean-sweep over the previous mentioned topics: the group found by Rikafip on March 3rd and the similar group, found by holydarkness, on March 4th. Fortunately, the lattest group is inactive and no new spam appeared since my previous intervention.

3. Lastly, I took another look over the active topics from the post I made on March 1st.

All in all, I reported 298 posts from these topics!

Starting tomorrow I will take care of last two topics which needed to be cleaned from the old group of threads -- MyTVchain and Relictum -- and, afterwards, I will start digging into Decent thread.

I think Rizzrack answered that question quite efficiently Cheesy.

Yup, all clear now!

I've handled all remaining reports I have in my report queue.

Thank you, Welsh. My last two reports from the trashed SwapZilla thread were also changed from unhandled to Good.

Other than that, in this weekend I achieved a very nice number of reportsRoll Eyes This was possible, of course with all contributors to Rikafip's thread, which mentioned so many topics full of spam -- therefore I thank you all!

The second round will collect 2 times less votes, and maybe less. This competition has already been going on for more than a month and a half and has not yet been completed. And with the second round, how long do you plan to hold it? For 2-3 months?

Current contest took so long due to the war context from Ukraine, which prevented icopress from counting the votes faster, from stopping the voting process earlier, from creating the BB code for announcing the winners, from talking to other people involved in the organization of the contest etc. (by "etc." I mean everything which is contest related -- these being activities which take a lot of time; and by "a lot of time" I mean dozens of hours). When a war is on course in your country, nothing is more important (including a contest on a forum) than keeping your family safe. Besides, how many would think about a contest organized by them on a forum, when they and their families' lives are in danger at any second?! I highly doubt that many would think anymore about finishing other activities initiated before their lives started to be threatened -- literally speaking -- at any second. Still, icopress did not abandon this contest and he is still trying, during the few spare time he has, to take it to finish line -- and this is admirable!

In my opinion, even if he would finish this contest in December 2022, this should be understandable, if the war would not end by then. In the context that you fall asleep but you don't know if you are still alive tomorrow, everything else excepting the attempt to keep yourself and your close ones alive is a minor thing... Bluntly speaking, how many have ever lived a situation like this? How many actually know the feeling of not knowing if tomorrow they will be able to open their eyes anymore?

However, coming back, in normal conditions, if such a contest would be kept for 2 weeks -- let's say, continued with a play-off phase, which would be kept also for 2 weeks, then the entire contest would take about a month. I don't see any reason why it would become more boring. A football championship lasts for one year and nobody gets bored to see the games. Besides, an eliminatory phase followed by a final phase represent a manner to bring more interest for many international competitions.

Besides, as yahoo said, this contest (together with other contests which took course within the forum) is meant for fun. There should be no rush to reach the finish very fast, as this will only make the fun last less.

Just to clarify that I do not blame @icopress, but individuals who, due to their personal interests, made this competition very questionable.

I fully understood your point of view, Lucius, as I read your previous posts and I share most of your thoughts. I am sure that icopress also understands you and never thought you would blame him. Practically, the situation that happened was like this: Zeus gave fire to Prometheus, to give it to people thus people would use it to get themselves warm and cook their food, but people used the fire to burn each other's homes. icopress did his best to organize a very complex competition, spent a lot of time to think about categories, eligible voters, contest rules etc., he tried to entertain the forum, in a way, but some took all his efforts as an opportunity for personal benefits.

I fully support this idea, and I would also suggest disabling the merits in this thread in order to prevent competitors from motivating voters in this way.

I am glad my idea has fans and, as I see, you and icopress are two of them. However, if the contest is kept on Ivory Tower board and if it will have a rule to disqualify any user which would award votes, then there would not be necessarily needed to disable merits in the respective thread. If any merit occurs, the respective user is disqualified and, I think, this will be more harsh for him / her.

I forgot to vote. I actually intended on voting in some of the categories this year, just things got in the way.

I am sorry that you forgot to vote, Welsh...

Although, I definitely think there's been a few problems with the current format highlighted, and I believe for most of them they can be somewhat mitigated for future additions. I do think there was more interest in this years competition than the previous year, even without all of the controversy surrounding certain voters.

Certainly, the problems can be mitigated. We can all learn from first two editions of the contest and make the next one greater Smiley

And another suggestion I'd like to make, for the next iterations of the contest, is to have two phases during the contest: a first phase where all eligible users can vote any users they want and a "play-off", where top 5 users of each category are qualified. In the second phase the voters can nominate only users which qualified in the play-off. I think in this way the contest would raise even more interest and it will be more spectacular.

~snip~
Those users has successfully received merit from their voting posts.

I think that we learned something from these two contests and, probably, from next edition, icopress will make some changes (assuming that he will still keep the contests going -- of course, with administration's support as well). I advise that one of the changes to specify that all the users voting on any post will be automatically disqualified (in case they will be nominated by someone). In this way, we can avoid all the drama (and / or abuses?) that took course on this contest and, if I remember well, on the previous one as well.

Another suggestion that I am making is to take the contest to Ivory Tower board, thus ensuring that no members with ranks below Full Member are able to interfere. This way we will avoid a good amount of spam. Indeed, this would mean that members with ranks of Newbies, Jr. Member and Member will not be able to vote, no matter if they have more than 50 votes, but, considering the very low amount of such cases (during actual contest we had less than 5 such users, if I remember well) this would not be a problem.

Hope I understood the question...

Actually, I meant if you can see more than 5000 unhandled reports, all being made in less than 30 days. Imagine someone reporting 1000 posts / day for 10 consecutive days and, for some reason, they are not handled. That user can see only his last 5000 reports. But can you see all 10.000 unhandled reports?

If a report is not attended by any mod and after the specific time period, 30 days or what ever, receives the "unhandled" status it is no longer displayed in any report queue. Only the user that reported the post can see it in his/her report history or maybe theymos in the db. It magically vanishes from the mod report page.

About that, also the user can not see anymore the reports older than 30 days. They disappear also from user's reporting history, not just from mods' queue...

Is she a fox or a person after all?

I can not say that precisely, although I felt a lot of fur around me at previous orgies, but what's certain is that she is one of the following:

The queue of "active" reports is not capped. The only thing is they get removed after a certain amount of time if no resolution is given and remain unhandled.
The queue of handled reports (good and bad) is not capped at a certain number either.

Thank you for your reply. I understand that you / mods can see more than 5000 good reports. But I was mostly referring to unhandled ones. Can you also see more than 5000 of the same user (assuming there is any user which has at this moment more than 5000 unhandled reports -- which is very unlikely, I suppose).

Most likely those limitations (5k reports for users) are there to eliminate redundant server strain and potential attack vectors. But staff is not subject to the same rules.

Roger that. But still, staff also can not see anymore the reports older than 30 days, right (for more information please see post #290 of this topic)? Or has this limitation also been removed? If so, this would be great news as, in case of unhandled reports which remain in this state for more than 30 days, they would still have a chance to receive a resolution.
