1501  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What happens when your identity is stolen -- real story || Avoid CEXs! on: March 15, 2023, 05:47:27 PM
So since then I have stopped using coinbase services.

That was a smart move. I hope that you also stopped using centralized exchanges since then...

I didn't use coinbase exchange much but used coinbase wallet for long time but it restricted my account even though my kyc is complete.  Although it was solved after a month but this one month I really struggled to solve it because I had a large amount of Ethereum there.

This is another reason for which you should never used a centralized exchange: similar to banks, they can always seize your account (abusively or not). You are not the owner of your funds once you deposit the money at the exchange. This is because you are not in possession of your private keys. And the saying "not your keys, not your coins" is very valid and it was also stated in a Court decision, by a judge! As a coincidence, the trial involved again Coinbase's name. The exchange was called into a Court of Law by a client which was not allowed by the exchange to redeem his BTG coins after Bitcoin Gold fork occurred. Judge's final decision clearly states that not your keys, not your coins.
1502  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: ChipMixer.com has been seized. on: March 15, 2023, 05:39:20 PM
Having the (main) website seized by authorities does not necessarily mean that the operations will be halted. For example, in May 2020 Romanian authorities seized the well known torrents website FileList (filelist.ro). Yet the very next day filelist.io was up and running.

Main website is still seized:

However, their mirror site is still up and running since main website was seized. All users moved to the mirror website and no other problem occurred since then. And, if I'm not mistaken, admins made a post back then saying something like even if that mirror website will be also seized, they still have several other mirrors for keeping their torrent site up and running.

I believe that The Sceptical Chymist is sorry for not attending the parties from previous years and now he wants to "catch up" -- meaning to drink with this occasion also for the previous years =)))

1504  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Few Trusted Escrow Providers on: March 14, 2023, 06:25:52 PM
I have updated the Trusted Escrow Provider's list. BPIP trust rank updated so I have rearranged it if there is any change.

Thank you for this update, shasan!

I have removed Blazed as Blazed is offline from October 27, 2020, 12:14:27 AM [...]
I have removed TwinWinNerD as TwinWinNerD is offline from May 31, 2021, 02:38:57 PM [...]
I have removed Dudeperfect as Dudeperfect is offline from August 02, 2022, 09:25:31 AM

Thank you also for this "purge", which brings the topic closer to reality.

Any news about ninjaboon and BitCoinDream? Have you tried to contact them? Besides, ninjaboon was last active on 07 October 2022.

Other than that, any news about krogothmanhattan and Hhampuz? As you remember they already told me they are not into escrow services anymore.

What's confusing you? If it helps, here's his reply:

And this was my message:

Here is Hhampuz's reply:

Have you tried to contact them...? Have they told you something else...?
1505  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: List of useful Bitcoin block explorers on: March 14, 2023, 05:21:30 PM
I've updated our list according to the outcomes of our survey. Please let me know if you like our improved version, if you want to share your opinion.

Great job, 1miau! The table looks more "clean" now Smiley And keeping also the old format, inside that post, for mobile users, is also a very wise decision. I also implemented all changes within the translated version of the topic.

Unfortunately, I had to remove all links from the comments as it's not possible to add links for our new hover format.

Yup, I noticed that. It is what it is... However, I wanted to let you know that, while implementing the changes inside the translation (I did it while also looking at your new BBCode) I noticed that you left a reference to an earlier hyperlink inside the new BBCode. It does not affect the table in any way, yet I believe you can also delete that part, for having a "100% clean" code as well Smiley Here is the reference to that hyperlink:

Code:
[td][abbr=Outdated UI / Currently mirroring Trezor Explorer[/url]

And, perhaps, this part can also be deleted?

Code:
I've included a poll and if you want, please leave a vote which block explorer is your favorite one. Everyone will have 2 votes, you can revise it at any time, like when the block explorer makes changes and features are removed / added or when it goes completely offline.

(Eventually, you can change this text with a text related to the new survey -- the one for Blockchair's final mark?)

Other than that, everything looks great! Thank you for the efforts you made to update the BBcode!

In postarea urmatoare voi adauga si vechiul format, pentru referinta.

1508  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Survey regarding our Bitcoin Blockexplorer topic on: March 14, 2023, 10:00:13 AM
But are you sure about updating the old format? I believe it's better to keep it how it is since it is our "old" format, which has been frozen when we added the new design?

Ummm... Maybe I did not express well what I meant. Let me rephrase it.

So you said you will keep also the old format of the table (actually it's inside your earlier post). This is for those willing to browse from mobile phones. And I suggested the following: (1) there will certainly be changes to the new table from OP (the one which is already changed); (2) since OP will be updated in the future with various suggestions from other users, it would be wise to update also the old table -- the one you kept for users browsing from mobiles. Practically, since you (we) keep also the old table inside a post, I believe that when new sites will be added to / deleted from the new table from OP, this change should reflect also inside the old table, which you posted here. This way, users browsing from mobile phones will also be able to see all new additions to the new table from OP.

Does it make sense now? Smiley

You are also right here. By getting a DRAW between 8 and 9 votes, it's still an unsolved secret, what to do.

Yes, we need to reveal the secret! Reveal the secret we must, young padawan!

As you've said, it's not a nice move from me to decide the outcome, so we will have a fair and democratic survey, once again. We need to honor our decisionmaking and be consistent.  Wink
I'm planning to start one next weekend and we can run it again for 14 days.

Well... I did not say you did a not nice move Smiley But it would be great to have a final debate for that website's final mark, thus the ones which voted anything else excepting 8 or 9 can choose between those two "finalist" marks!

Wikipedia sagt:
Quote

I'd like to let everybody know that I finished the (whole) Romanian translation of Husna QA & Chikito's very long and useful topic. Hooray! Smiley

I have a note for all those which translated already part 6 of this topic: after an observation made by PrivacyG, Husna QA updated the chapter about CoinJoin, therefore those which already translated this part (if any) should apply also this recent update.

And for those which did not start yet this translation but they intend to and also for those which started the translation but did not finish it: please be aware that this topic is huge, having almost 7000 words. I suggest you to work on it in an organized manner, in order to not exhaust yourselves. The information presented is very complex, it's also very technical, thus it's easy to make mistakes, especially ones determined by fatigue. Therefore I recommend you to translate one part at a time, making sure that the translation is correct. I hope this helps Smiley
1511  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Education] Bitcoin Privacy and Anonymity on: March 13, 2023, 08:54:27 PM
Even though the wasabi wallet changed from its original purpose, it did not change the history that the Wasabi wallet was a pioneer in implementing the Coinjoin concept. Theymos also said in his post, which I also quoted above:  Re: CoinJoin: Bitcoin privacy for the real world.

But I agree with you when Wasabi Wallet announced this: https://blog.wasabiwallet.io/zksnacks-blacklisting-update/. I will add your note to the Wasabi wallet.  I think this is fair enough for readers to judge from both sides.

Thank you for this update, Husna QA, and also for the fast reply! I understand your point of view: nothing from present changes the past and in the past Wasabi was a pioneer, no matter that it turn rogue now. So the part regarding this wallet being a pioneer of CoinJoin stays, as it's a part of history, and theymos congratulated them for what they were at that moment of the past. However, considering their recent moves, your new added observation is more than welcome.

The update is also reflected inside the Romanian translation of your topic.
1512  Local / Română (Romanian) / Re: [Educație] Intimitatea și Anonimitatea Bitcoin on: March 13, 2023, 08:51:01 PM

S-a alăturat forțelor inamice.

1513  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What happens when your identity is stolen -- real story || Avoid CEXs! on: March 13, 2023, 06:47:40 PM
I think it's not so much how willing you are to use a cex but rather how strong your password is whenever you sign up for services that use KYC, and obviously how serious the service you're using is.
[...] So the first source of security is yourself.

I don't know how much your password can help you if hackers break the database of the exchange. Remember that the forum also got hacked in the past and hackers obtained many passwords of users' accounts...
Indeed, a strong password is useful but it's not all you need for not having your identity stolen. For not having your identity stolen no third party should have your data.

from this case it is really very dangerous to do KYC on an exchange, anything can happen beyond our control, very terrible,
but how can we trade if we don't do kyc on the exchange, even though that's the main part of being able to trade and withdraw funds.

As I wrote above, you should use only decentralized exchanges, crypto ATMs and peer-to-peer transfers. You can always search on CoinATMRadar for a cash-in / cash-out crypto ATM in your area. These ATMs are (supposed to be) anonymous, although their fees are not small...

This is one hell of a nightmare, wouldn't be surprised if he quit his driving job  with all the humiliation he keeps getting Sad But why didn't he use his lawyers to sue these convicts for identity theft and all trumour suffered because of  their actions..?(

If you carefully read OP you'll notice that the first thief was caught and convicted. Then another thief used the victim's identity... He was in an endless loophole...

Btw if I were him, would have gone with changing identity, the damage is to much Cry

I doubt this would be a good idea... As bittraffic observed, such move would only draw even more suspicion on you...

The exchanges in question are Binance and kucoin. Now my question is; Is they a way to prove that my details has truly been wiped out from their database after completing all the procedures?

No, there is no way to know for sure that your data was actually deleted...

I don't think kyc on reputable exchanges like Binance, kucoin etc will have any data theft.

Have you read in OP that Coinbase sold clients' data to third parties? Isn't Coinbase also a reputable exchange? Besides, don't you know that Binance got hacked twice already? Only luck made that Binance clients did not have their personal information stolen as well and hackers were only interested in their deposits...
1514  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Survey regarding our Bitcoin Blockexplorer topic on: March 13, 2023, 06:20:09 PM
I'll add a link below the table to a version of an old version of our table. By doing so, it'll also be possible for people viewing our table from mobile devices.  Smiley

Yup, this is a wise move. We have the old format as reference, those willing to use it can still do it (this also implies that it should be updated each time OP gets updated) and if in the future you will wish (in a democratic way Smiley) to return to old format, the old table will be available.

I would apply a "stay" for our 8 points rating since 8 and 9 points have equal votes, so I consider it as a vote for "stay".
If my assumption is against a fair decision and people request to have a runoff vote, I can also set up a runoff vote, of course.  Smiley

Awww, you applied a democratic vote for everything, don't punish Blockchair now with a unilateral decision Smiley I guess it would be fair for this site to organize one more survey for a final decision regarding its final mark (a vote for 8 or 9). Maybe a one week survey...? Also take into consideration that such a move will also be consistent with earlier changes, meaning it will be a democratic vote Smiley

1516  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [ENDED: Charity Auction - yahoo62278] Bitcoin Romania Card - 100 RON in BTC on: March 13, 2023, 05:45:30 PM
After discussions via PM, I have agreed to a suggestion from GazetaBitcoin to select a safe shipping option. Price is 6.12 EUR and I've decided to send GazetaBitcoin an equivalent of 7 USD to cover expenses and effort, which is 0.35 mBTC.

I confirm receiving the 0.35 mBTC and I also want to let all involved parties know that the card was shipped today to Chi using safest option presented by Romanian Post. Thank you, 1miau, for that!

Please find below the receipt I received from Romanian Post:

I also informed Chi about the shipping and I kindly asked him to make a post here once here receives the card (I hope this will happen before of current month).

Thank you, 1miau, for organizing the giveaway for my couch, where RickDeckard won your prize in BTC and the card offered by me; thank you, RickDeckard, for your big heart which determined you to make an auction for helping yahoo62278, offering this nice card as prize; thank you, PowerGlove, for participating inside the auction, for offering greatest bid and for having also a big heart, offering the card you won to someone else; thank you, ChitBitCTY for accepting the prize! (You may find here the rest of the way the card had to go until finally finding its winner Smiley)

It's really amazing to see what a long way this card made and, in the end, yahoo62278 could be helped!

Looooooool! Lucky for you, it's not an elephant =))) (Even if it were, I don't know if I was able to ship it. Nor with Romanian Post, anyway. I also don't know if it could fit inside the envelope Smiley)
Yes, it's doubtful.  Cheesy

At our next giveaway / raffle I will try to ask a Romanian Post officer the price of shipping an elephant inside a simple envelope. You know, just to have the information Smiley

1519  Local / Română (Romanian) / Re: [Educație] Intimitatea și Anonimitatea Bitcoin on: March 12, 2023, 09:16:06 PM
