2521  Economy / Gambling / Re: AI has beaten top poker professionals on: December 20, 2017, 02:11:00 PM
It seems that poker has finally fallen the next victim to insatiable and unstoppable AI, after chess and go world champions were defeated in the past. Poker seems to have been a more difficult problem for AI to solve than the games mentioned, primarily due to hidden information as well as bluffing, but now it's over for human beings. An AI developed by researchers was successful in defeating top professionals at No-limit Texas Hold’em, which is thought to be one of the most challenging types of poker. If anyone is interested who played for the mankind, the players were Jason Les, Dong Kim, Daniel McCauley and Jimmy Chou, though I'm not sure if these names are telling you anything.

Here're the links to the popular-science article and actual paper in Science magazine.
If this is really true and if this gets implemented on a larger scale and things get available to everyone easily, then the future of online gambling will surely be doomed.

However, poker is a form of gambling and how can anyone, be it how intelligent are they can beat someone in game of chance, maybe its just purely luck that the AI has beaten them, but in the longer run, AI cannot always beat the human brain neither can this be true vice-versa.

Your comment is just wrong on so many levels.

How will this change the future on online gambling? Maybe online poker, but to say that this has any impact on online gambling in general is just plain stupid.
Slots aren't impacted by this, roulette isn't, etc.

From the first article:
Quote
Over the course of a 20 day competition, with 120,000 poker hands played in total and a prize pool of $200,000, Libratus defeated top human pros

I doubt this is just luck if the bot played for 20 days against these pros.
2522  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bank Threatens To Close Accounts Of Bitcoin Buyers on: December 20, 2017, 01:40:13 PM
Seems like they've angered a lot of the Bitcoin community if you look at their Facebook ratings.
Yeah I would not want to be a customer at a bank that decides for me where I can spend my money...

I am wondering what the thought-process behind this is? Have they received too many complaints in the past regarding Bitcoin and people getting scammed for example?
Or are they just 'against' Bitcoin in general?
2523  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What's happening to Bitcoin? on: December 20, 2017, 01:18:48 PM
Well, there's a massive sell wall at 20k on all Bitcoin exchanges, it's going to take a while to take that down.
It also doesn't help that we've seen some bad news in mainstream media, Bitcoin.com co-founder selling all his BTC and being public about it.

Most of my coins are timelocked, so I have no other option than to hold Tongue
2524  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: France's position on Bitcoin (massive taxing on profits) on: December 19, 2017, 03:56:46 PM
You only have to pay tax when you sell back into fiat right? If more and more places start accepting crypto directly this won't happen. Also coins like Monero stand to gain a lot from this sort of legislation.

Totally depends on your jurisdiction. Many places would regard crypto to crypto as a taxable disposal.

In the UK it's capital gains at 20% which seems bearable enough to me. I'm unsurprised France would do this. I have relatives in France and it's pretty darned communist when you scratch the surface. I'm amazed it functions as an economy considering how overbearing the state is there.

Luckily my country doesn't tax crypto to crypto as a taxable disposal, but they do tax you when you convert it to fiat.

And yeah, France isn't a great country to be rich in, they've had so many socialist governments in the past.
Remember when they implemented a 75% super tax back when Hollande was president?
2525  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will we ever see players transfer paid with bitcoin ??! on: December 19, 2017, 03:33:16 PM
From one summer to the next one,  the price of the players is multiplied as well as the highest player's price in the history, at least by 2 times. As a result, due to the permanent elevation of the prices of players , and due to the new emerging laws in our sports which is : money is every things !
Could we see some deals paid  in bitcoin ?

It is unlikely that it will happen, bitcoin isn't that popular yet and it will take a lot of time until bitcoin is used as a payment option for big money transaction because the volatility is too risky for that kind of money.

It might be unlikely, but that's not because Bitcoin isn't popular enough. Heck even my parents are talking about Bitcoin and it has been in the mainstream news for years now.
I just don't see a reason for clubs to pay their players in Bitcoin if they can just use fiat.

They probably don't want to spend the time, effort and money to figure out how to pay their players in Bitcoin, especially if there isn't a demand for it by the players themselves.
Then there's all the legal aspects that need to be figured out, just seems too much trouble for them tbh.
2526  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to choose the right exchange? on: December 19, 2017, 02:53:55 PM
It really depends a lot on what your personal needs are.

Do you want to stay somewhat anonymous? What payment methods do you want to use to deposit fiat? What kind of interface do you want? Etc...

Any exchange can suddenly disappear, get hacked or take your Bitcoins away, some might be safer than other, but you should always expect the worst and prepare for that.
Obviously, you should never keep funds on an exchange unless you're day trading.

Even if you're day trading, you shouldn't put all your funds on an exchange and sent everything back to a wallet you control after you're done.
You can temporarily use altcoins for that since the Bitcoin fees are so high.
2527  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Waves Vs. Ethereum on: December 19, 2017, 02:39:57 PM
russian shit waves and etherium will have no place in crypto by Christmas, .
Seems like your prediction didn't come true, it's almost christmas and both Waves and Ethereum are still doing much better than ARK.

ARK is the only crypto the world ever needed
People say that about every crypto, doesn't mean a thing

The scammers are already trying to copy it like wildfire.
If you're against "copying" aka forking, what are you doing in the crypto community? Forking and having an open source code is definitely a good thing and standard practice.
2528  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Where to advertise gambling site on: December 19, 2017, 02:02:16 PM
Facebook, twitter, instagram, youtube, palystore, I think it's a great place to advertise gambling site. Because, sites like facebook, twitter, instagram, and youtube that, many visitors. Online games like league of legend, mobile legend, vainglory, and dota are also good for advertising.

These things have been mentioned like 20 times before on this thread, don't just repeat what other people have said.

And how can you advertise through these games you're talking about? You probably mean by spamming in the in-game chat, or not?

Ill make a list for OP with the best answers in this thread:

- signature campaign on this forum - paid
- announcement thread on forum - free
- advertise through websites and blogs - paid
- Adwords, facebook advertising - paid

I think that's about it.
2529  Economy / Gambling / Re: ★Crypto-Games.net ★ 10 coins ★ 7 games ★ Since 2014 ★ Largest crowdfunded casino on: December 19, 2017, 01:27:13 PM
crypto games are awesome
Investing is paying off very nice.
I think this is turning point. When you can invest into gambling from casino point of view is priceless.

You're lucky that you got in before they closed investors to new members (who hadn't invested before).
Btw, it has always been possible to invest in a casino bankroll, even with traditional casino's, the difference is that now it's accessible for everyone.

And indeed, Crypto-Games is pretty awesome!
2530  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it possible to earn bitcoins from playing games? on: December 18, 2017, 02:41:06 PM
If you want to earn a couple of cents per day by playing faucets disguised as games, sure.
Don't expect that you'll make a significant  amount of money though.

In my opinion it's just a complete waste of time and you'd be better off doing something else with your time if you want to earn Bitcoin.
2531  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: money laundering and cryptocurrencies on: December 18, 2017, 01:15:45 PM
A bit for everybody surprises, Iran is considering regulate the payment and trading of Digital currencies as Bitcoin and others altcoins. This mainly to fight money laundering, criminality activities related to Btc and also to taxing the crypto market. Until now the Central Bank of Iran consideres the use of Btc illegal, but there wasn´t still no law from the government that forbidden the use of the digital coin.
First and foremost you must understand that terrorist need money to buy weapons and feed their soldiers and they get all those money from their sponsors, In order to fight terrorism, one first needs to track the money and currently bitcoin and the other cryptos are the easiest ways one can launder money and sponsor terrorism. The USA is not against bitcoins.

I really doubt that terrorists make use of crypto on such a large scale, they have other systems in place that are far less trackable than crypto.
Islamic terrorists probably make use of the hawala system, which is pretty much untraceable.

I have read a few stories of terrorism being funded by Bitcoin, but it was pretty small scale actually.

2534  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Whats your opinion on a new peer to peer multi digital asset marketplace? on: December 15, 2017, 04:02:26 PM
A website similar to Localbitcoins, but with mutliple cryptocurrencies, interesting concept. P2P trading platforms are quite popular and will always be in demand, one of the alternatives if a government shuts down exchanges or bans Bitcoin, but still they are centralized with a single point of failure. There are a few decentralized exchanges Bisq, Bitshares, Waves, Decred, but not quite popular and not much support for multiple cryptocurrencies, but I do think that in the near future, decentralized exchanges would be much more in demand than P2P/OTC platforms. So just a suggestion, if you want to give something back to the community, a decentralized cryptocurrency exchange with security and privacy as priority would be better than a P2P platform. There is also Cobinhood (beta), supports around 20 cryptocurrencies with zero trading fee, projects like these would be game changers in cryptosphere.

There's still a place for a centralized exchange, decentralized exchanges are nowhere near ready to take over on a grand scale.
I think there a need for a good p2p marketplace for altcoins, it would make things so easy if you could just buy altcoins directly from someone, using your preferred payment method.

Something that's very important for me personally is that you support as much payment options as possible, just as LBC does.
2535  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you convince the people to invest in Bitcoin? on: December 15, 2017, 03:08:17 PM
First you have to realize that you can't convince everyone, if someone has an extremely negative opinion of Bitcoin when you mention it, it's usually not worth it trying to convince them into investing in it.

If you're talking to people who aren't as dismissive, I usually tend to give one solid argument which they can't easily refute.

I just say that it would be a good idea to invest a couple of hundred dollars into Bitcoin and forget about it for a long time.
That way they aren't really taking any big financial risk, while it's still very possible that they would earn a nice sum of money in the next couple of years.

Most people can spare a couple of hundred dollars, I would think.
2536  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Project to support Bitcoin adoption in Mongolia on: December 15, 2017, 02:44:03 PM
I don't think you should be accepting donations at this moment in time, you only have a basic outline of your project and haven't achieved anything yet.
I would not recommend that anyone donates to this.

You don't have a website online, there's no roadmap and I don't see anything that proves to me you've put any work into this.

Update:

First donation came from a Bitcointalk member.
I'm so happy that people understands me and extent of projects.
I know that risky nature of giving donation to unknown guy on internet.
I think he is an ordinary guy with tech background like me. So we understood each other easily.
His contribution is vital supply to move projects forward and enabled me to dedicate full time.
I didn't receive his donation via project's address because of some privacy.
He will be remembered forever and I will honour everybody who is willing to do good cause.

For the people by the people.!

How did you receive this donation? All of your donation addresses are empty...
2537  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Record high traffic on: December 15, 2017, 01:49:32 PM
It's not the highest that I've ever seen, in terms of unconfirmed transactions I mean, but this has to be the longest time in a row that we've seen such a backlog.
I wish that all desktop wallets would start enabling segwit by default, but I don't think it will take too long before Electrum does.

Btw there's also a bug on the front page of blockexplorer.com, it says the latest blocks were mined 8 hours ago, gave me a little scare at first.

2538  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trying to get handle on the conversion rate to figure out profit for crypto on: December 15, 2017, 10:55:00 AM
Okay, let's break this down.

Quote
You bought $300 worth of BTC @ $17440  --> 17440 / 300 = 58.1333333   --> 1 / 58.133333 = 0.0172018

You sold $300 worth of BTC @ $17090  --> 0.0172018 * 17090 = 293.97 (price you sold your BTC for)

Basically what haroldtee said, but I've added the calculations for the numbers, it should be self-explanatory.
You've lost little over 6 dollars indeed.
2539  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Javascript miner as a source of traffic revenue for websites? on: December 15, 2017, 09:57:38 AM
Even if a site gets alot of daily hits, the majority of users aren't going to be leaving the browser on that site for a long period of time.

There are scripts that will continue mining even if you close the browser window, currently it's only possible with Chrome, other browsers are not affected.

https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2017/11/sneakier-more-persistent-drive-by-cryptomining-comes-to-a-browser-near-you/

The MoonBitcoin faucet has an opt-in miner on their faucet, imo that's the way to go since you have to enable it yourself as a user.

What you say is true but java-script miners have found the way to avoid AV alerts and Adblock evading like https://www.coinimp.com/, anyway they are not Trojans and it's a good way more profitable than add a lot of bothering ads to your site which for sure will disturb to visitants, such script also is customizable and allows you to choose the performance you want to set on it, to avoid over-processing.
If you want to know more about this topic, then go to following post for extra info, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2589882.0

AV isn't the way to go if you want to protect yourself from this, NoScript is a better option and I doubt that your script can evade that.
2540  Economy / Economics / Re: Would you become a tax exile to preserve your crypto profits? on: December 14, 2017, 11:08:10 PM
I would personally not go through all that hassle to avoid paying more taxes, even if capital gains was taxed at 40 - 60%.
It would just be too hard to combine such a lifestyle with your family and I don't think that I will ever reach that level of financial security that it would even be an option for me.

I also generally don't like to travel, so I wouldn't be too happy travelling back and forth between countries.
