1581  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: New and tough competitor for Genesis mining and HashFlare on: August 10, 2018, 01:13:54 PM
If you're convinced after seeing a video like that, I think you're going to get scammed a lot in life.
I watched the first 3 minutes and this does not seem like a service that comes across as particularly trustworthy.

Now, I have to admit that I'm always very skeptical of any cloud mining operation, but there are companies that at least present themselves way better than this.
1582  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Unavailable to load bountysuite on: August 10, 2018, 01:04:56 PM
I don't have any trouble loading the page at this moment. Perhaps you could try a different web browser?
Or maybe clearing your cache might fix it?

I do see the loading animation btw, but it disappears after a couple of seconds.
1583  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Pleasantly surprised about LBRY on: August 10, 2018, 12:41:11 PM
I had just received a development update from LBRY and I've gotta say that I'm really impressed with how far their app has come along.
After you've installed, you get around 4 dollars worth of LBC, just for browsing the app and subscribing to a couple of channels.

Uploading your own videos and files is dead simple, I've not encountered any problems with uploading or posting.
The devs are also very active on Discord and it's clear that they're working really hard on the app, while also taking community suggestions into consideration.

So, have any of you ever heard about LBRY? What do you think about it?

Website:

Btw, LBRY is basically a digital content marketplace, on which creators can choose to sell their content (videos, e-books, music, etc.) or give it away for free. There are a couple of really good content creators on there already.
1584  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Government backed, regulated gambling is more predatory than Crypto Gambling on: August 10, 2018, 12:33:41 PM
They do whatever they want, if country bans gambling, then why the hell do they leave lottery? It's simply hilarious.
To my mind, country has to regulate gambling a little bit, for example they have to prohibit gambling for poor people, on another hand this business has to be free. Every casino claims to not gamble for profit, it's only for fun. When you are rich and still gamble for profit, then you absolutely deserve if you lose but when man is poor and he gambles casino, it's because of profit and everyone knows it well.

You know what's even more hypocritical? In my country (Belgium) they're talking about banning all gambling related advertising.
Yet one of the most deceptive ads currently running is that of the national lottery.

I think it's a lot more deceptive than most of the casino ads we're seeing. They present this image that you'll become rich, just be playing the lottery.
While the regular casinos usually focus on presenting their games as fun, not something that will get you high profits.
1585  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: xbtfreelancer.com registration closed ? on: August 10, 2018, 11:58:49 AM
You have a number of other options though if you're looking for jobs that pay in crypto (or freelancers who accept crypto).
I've written an article with a list of pretty much all crypto freelance websites out there.

1586  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: HODL or NOT? Оne year HODL expirience. on: August 09, 2018, 08:11:11 PM
There's nothing wrong with selling at an all time high, like last year.
I always tend to HODL a large portion of my crypto assets, but when Bitcoin hit 20k, I sold just about everything.

I've recently been rebuying quite a lot, but I'm holding off the largest purchases until I see the market going up again.
I'm not a big fan of day-trading, so I tend to look at long term investments. That doesn't mean that I never sell though.
1587  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I like to collect the token on: August 09, 2018, 08:00:52 PM
To talk about your many tokens, I suggest that you immediately sell that. Don't save a lot of altcoins whose prices will not necessarily rise. Selling all immediately switch to ETH or BTC. And it's better. I am sure that both types of crypto will benefit you.

Now is just about the worst time to sell them. As long as we're continuing with this down trend, I would not sell any tokens just yet.
Unless you've received them from bounties or airdrops and you're looking at a profit with that.

If prices start going up again, you'll be kicking yourself for selling too soon.
1588  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Customers in switzerland can now send their cryptocurrency to their banks on: August 09, 2018, 07:39:53 PM
I would never personally make use of a service like that. I'm not willing to give over control of my coins to anyone, especially not to a for-profit company like a bank.
What's the point of having Bitcoin if you're going to let someone else keep them? That's how I see it.

That's not to say that this couldn't be useful for some people, but I do wonder what happens if the bank that's storing your coins goes bankrupt.
Would they return your assets or do they get auctioned off to pay back creditors?
1589  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Do you know some good bounty managers? on: August 09, 2018, 07:23:44 PM
Lutpin is a good one too, hadn't seen him mentioned.
I've been dealing with him for more than 2 years now in my campaign (as participant), no complaints there and he certainly doesn't have negative trust.
1590  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Looking for selly.gg alternative on: August 09, 2018, 11:32:35 AM
I just read a topic in the Project Development board that announces a new service which provides this.
https://wesellfiles.com

The best part is that it works with Lightning Network, so you can instantly receive payments.
It should work with codes, as long as you package them in zip files.

This is currently still under development, but I think they could use a few people willing to test it.

Here's the topic:

1591  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin might have been a FAILED experiment by the NSA - How funny would that be on: August 09, 2018, 09:53:05 AM
I'm personally a big fan of conspiracy theories, not that I believe most of them, I just like reading a good story.
I've always thought that a currency with an open ledger, like Bitcoin, could be a 'great' tool for governments to easily monitor people's finances.

It wouldn't be too far fetched to think that cryptocurrency could be an initiative from intelligence agencies to radically change the financial system.

On the other hand, it could also just be the creation of one person who just got fed up with the economic crisis and the current banking system.

It's all just speculation...
1592  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: WeSellFiles - a pay per download file market. Earn bitcoin by selling your data! on: August 09, 2018, 09:45:06 AM
Will you be showcasing all the files on your website as well? Now you can only share the link to your file, right?
I would definitely add some more compression formats, at least rar and 7zip.
1593  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it a good time to buy crypto? on: August 09, 2018, 09:37:40 AM
what do you mean by "crypto"? you have to know that there are over 2000 different cryptocurrencies in the market and not all of them are moving at the same pace and they don't follow the same trends.

for most of them like the big top 10 coins with their huge bubbles, it is not yet the good time to buy them because there is a very good chance that they will continue getting dumped the same way they have been for the past months.

but there are still some coins that have gotten dumped as much as they could and have reached the bottom. these coins have been getting pumped already if you check the market you can see them daily that come on top with big "green %%"

Most of them are following Bitcoin's trend though, they've all gotten similar losses when you look at the percentages.

To OP: I would personally never take out a loan to buy crypto, you can never know for sure if the price is going to go up again.
Never invest more than you'd be willing to lose, even TA can't predict future prices accurately all of the time.
1594  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What was your Worst losing streak at bitcoin dice with 1.5 payout? on: August 08, 2018, 10:01:16 AM
I've never really played on 1.5X, but I once had a 19 roll losing streak on x2.
I don't use strategies like the one you've mentioned though, which seems to be a slightly adjusted Martingale betting system.

It's definitely more common than you think to see losing streaks like that and when you're using Martingale it wouldn't even last that long.
Since you'd be out of money before that happens Tongue
1595  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: How do you earn money in the blockchain economy? on: August 08, 2018, 09:47:17 AM
Recently I've started to earn pretty decently from Steemit, though I don't really blog for the money.
It just started out as a little project of mine to improve my writing skills and to meet new people.

The Steem price is pretty low at the moment, so I'm really glad that I'm still getting something out of it.
A lot of people seem to be posting a bit less now because of that.

Most of what I earn through Steemit is from the post rewards, but my affiliate links under my articles are doing pretty good as well.
1596  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Should UBI Replace all Welfare Systems? on: August 07, 2018, 10:09:43 AM
Quote
There's no question that it would create a slight disincentive to work, but I do not think that it would have an enormous effect on people's willingness to work.

I think that is ONLY true if the other welfare systems aren't removed alongside the addition of UBI. I would understand your point if the other welfare systems weren't removed as well. But in the current state of the welfare system, work is disincentivized as you aren't allowed to make more income then the set amount OR you will lose benefits.

That is the part that disincentivizes working, but it is a part of the current system which has a steep drop-off point for people who are trying to progress and grow. This isn't the case with UBI, as you're going to be getting your set amount of benefits and it doesn't matter if you a shit ton of money or you earn nothing.

Quote
Now it can definitely be said that most experiments do not include the enormous tax burden that would accompany UBI.
I've seen report after report that says that if all other welfare programs (including welfare ones are removed) the UBI system would cost the same amount as the current welfare system. So an enormous tax burden wouldn't be coming alongside this addition of UBI.

I do agree with what you're saying, but when you are talking about welfare systems, do you also mean that healthcare would be included into that?
If that's the case, some people would be off far worse than under the current system, as they could not possibly pay their medical costs from the UBI they're receiving.

I'm passionately in favor of implementing UBI, I really think that current welfare systems (for unemployment) are severely flawed.

Lately I've also been more and more interested in seeing UBI implementations through some form of cryptocurrency.
Now, let me preface this by saying that I do not think these will magically solve poverty in the future, but they can grow to be viable additional income for people in third world countries.

It's pretty amazing to see how many such projects there already are. Currently there are at least 23 such projects. Source
1597  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My opinion on Starbucks denial of Partnership for Bakkt Proposed Project on: August 07, 2018, 09:44:56 AM

I've given some more examples in a recent blog on Steemit

Hello, thanks for this, by the way you think that my opinion or should I say speculation, on the latter could be possible? ICE wouldn't just announced it like that but due to garbage journalism and propaganda the news was resulting to exaggeration leading to confusion of the community.

It would be very difficult to prove that the announcement was made to create a pump for ICE.
It could certainly be the case, but it's pointless to speculate on it.

In any case, supposedly 'reputable' news agencies should really practice more due diligence.
Can't believe that CNBC and Bloomberg ran the story, as mentioned in the article.
1598  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My opinion on Starbucks denial of Partnership for Bakkt Proposed Project on: August 07, 2018, 08:58:10 AM
This is what happens when news agencies just copy stories from each other, instead of actually doing their job and verifying the actual sources of any particular story.
In this case it was clearly poor journalism that caused this little tidbit of misinformation getting spread, but sometimes it's also the crypto companies themselves who are spreading fake rumors.

I think this case with BMW and CarVertical (ICO) says enough:

Carvertical claimed a partnership with BMW, while they were just making use of their publicly available API  Roll Eyes

I've given some more examples in a recent blog on Steemit
1599  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Should UBI Replace all Welfare Systems? on: August 07, 2018, 08:31:33 AM
Universal basic income, along with other welfare systems, create disincentives to work and otherwise generate income. As such, it would be a very bad thing if UBI, in any form were enacted.

The only instance in which I would support UBI in any form would be in places like AK where government income far exceeds expenditures, and the government can pay their citizens some amount every year from the income their assets generates.

There's no question that it would create a slight disincentive to work, but I do not think that it would have an enormous effect on people's willingness to work.
Some basic income experiments have also shown this, but I'm careful not to over-generalize, since there have only been a limited number of experiments done.

https://qz.com/1205591/a-universal-basic-income-experiment-in-alaska-shows-employment-didnt-drop/

Now it can definitely be said that most experiments do not include the enormous tax burden that would accompany UBI.
Here's another point of view:

https://www.cis.org.au/app/uploads/2017/11/rr32-snapshot.pdf (UBI – Universal Basic Income is an Unbelievably Bad Idea)

I would much rather see the various welfare programs be eliminated and/or reformed over time then see some kind of UBI system be enacted that would likely only grow and expand over time.

Not really sure what you're implying here. I assume you mean that you think that welfare systems are currently run inefficiently? Or are you actually advocating completely removing all welfare systems?
1600  Economy / Gambling / Re: Overview of Active Casino/Dice Sites Accepting BTC on: August 07, 2018, 08:17:35 AM
Duckdice is a good site. But why it's not listed here? Hope u will add this soon.

They've had a lot of issues regarding their bonus terms and afaik it has not been changed, therefor I can't add them at this time.

Then what about freebitco? They have introduced themselves as a gambling site now. And running nice dice wagering competition. Would u like to add them. I think they aren't faucet site now.

For me, I feel still it is a faucet site because their house edge is super high 5%. If they really think that they are gambling site then they should first reduce their house edge to around 1%.

It is the good old site but some reason they are not ready to reduce their house edge and as a player, we need to simply pay a high fee to the site for every bet. If one just want to play a dice then they will prefer to choose a site with a less house edge.

Well, it shouldn't matter what their house-edge is, as long as they're not scamming anyone.
I'd consider them a dice site, no reason not to put them on this list IMO.
