1561  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin, Who really wins? on: August 17, 2018, 11:25:09 AM
I personally don't give a shit what other people do, I've seen some of my own friends just make very stupid decisions.
They would buy Bitcoin at 20k and then get angry when it suddenly drops to below 10k. They sold everything, leaving them with a massive loss.

They look at me as if I'm crazy for just holding onto my coins  Roll Eyes

My advice: focus on what you do and don't base your decisions on what other people do.
1562  Economy / Economics / Re: Crypto chip sales plummet on: August 17, 2018, 11:16:17 AM
I don't really see how you can make price predictions with that sort of info...
We're talking about one specific company here, while there are tons of other players on the market.

Is it possible bitmain or another ASIC manufacturer is ramping up production and flooding markets, leading to nvidia experiencing a significant decline?

This would be my first thought as well and if you look at Bitmain's profits from 2017, it seems pretty clear that they're dominating the market

http://fortune.com/2018/02/24/bitcoin-mining-bitmain-profits/

Besides, I think OP is kinda coming to the wrong conclusions here. Sales would go up after the price of Bitcoin rises, Bitcoin's value doesn't go up because of increased miner sales.
1563  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Exchange Whitelabel Service on: August 17, 2018, 11:08:36 AM

Sorry, my ANN skills are lacking.

What's your pricing for a custom centralized exchange? Might be useful to add some ballpark figures at least.
Definitely cool that you're also offering to build decentralized Bitshare exchanges, haven't seen that too often.

Good luck with your service!
1564  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [Project] Alagoria.com - Buy anything on Amazon for 10% Off Using Crypto on: August 17, 2018, 08:08:37 AM
Really neat service, I personally like the design of your website.
Although I have to agree with Patatas here and say that it's indeed very slow when you try to view a specific product.

Took me more than a minute to load a product page, other pages work fine though.
1565  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Wtf steemit. on: August 16, 2018, 01:26:34 PM
The account creation process will be greatly improved with the next hardfork, but it does seem like you should have just written down your login information.
I do agree that they could have at least mentioned your account name in the e-mail.

1566  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Mine Bitcoin with your TV! on: August 16, 2018, 12:57:00 PM
First of all, fuck these website that have videos play automatically when you're just trying to read an article.

According to cryptocompare.com, a machine with a hashing power of 2.8 trillion hashes per second could mine BTC 0.04319 (USD 331 at current prices) per year. However, the report did not specify power consumption numbers.
Source: https://cryptonews.com/news/your-tv-set-may-become-a-mining-rig-2374.htm

LOL, so with this TV, you would be able to mine 0.043 BTC per year, I'm willing to bet that you would indeed spend more on power.
Okay, you might be able to make a small profit, depending on your electricity prices, but this just doesn't seem sorth it.
1567  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Steem Monsters on: August 16, 2018, 12:15:51 PM
Steem Monster is based on a card collectible game and the card owner and the results of the game are published in the Steem blockchain.

Oh really??? Tell us something we don't know, you think that anyone is waiting for a crap response like this?
You're just giving the most basic definition of this game, without even adding your opinion to your post.

What results are published on the Steem blockchain? You know that the game mechanics aren't implemented yet, right?
1568  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ICO collects $1.5million in 50 hours? on: August 16, 2018, 12:11:33 PM
1.5 million is a small amount for a start up company with ground breaking technology.  Considering that minecraft was sold for 2 billion dollars which is almost 2000x that amount.

What a lousy comparison, Minecraft had a working game that was being played by millions of people, thus deserving the 2 billion dollar valuation.
I really can't say the same for this Orca ICO, time will tell I guess.
1569  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Beginner's Luck on: August 16, 2018, 10:16:06 AM
I certainly didn't experience beginners luck the first time I really gambled at a casino.
Went in with around 150 euros and I'd spent it all at the end of the evening.

I wasn't even getting any profit on the 150 euros during that entire evening, so it's not that I just kept gambling away my winnings.
Maybe this is why I just don't believe in beginners luck Tongue
1570  Economy / Gambling / Re: Overview of Active Casino/Dice Sites Accepting BTC on: August 15, 2018, 11:14:16 AM
Ah saw that you added GoUP, and guess what, I forgot I had an account there already, must have signed up when they announced and only played there a few times. Come to think of it now, if I look in my email, I see so much spam from casinos I signed up for. Some spam I don't mind, because I'm active and like the bonuses and offers. Mostly are just repetitive or offering bonuses I will never take, sorry but I don't think 100% bonus and free spins with 35x wager is very interesting.

Anyway, one more thing to add is invest option. Something some players like. BTC invest option is popular and helps bankrolls get bigger, so bigger payouts and jackpots.

I hear you and yes, I've wanted to add a table listing if the casino allows you to invest in the bankroll. Should be on the list shortly Smiley

Great idea, I had also been looking for a complete list of Bitcoin casino's with an investment option, for a comparison article I'm writing on Steemit.
Seems like you can only find outdated or incomplete lists at the moment (through Google at least), so I hope you'll also keep this list updated Wink
1571  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Steem Monsters on: August 15, 2018, 10:58:47 AM
Yeah I've been collecting cards since it first launched and I've also sold a couple and made around $50 worth of Steem in profit.
I've bought some packs occasionally, but you can also get a lot of free packs by participating in competitions on Steemit (hosted by regular members).

Can't wait when the gameplay mechanics are finally added, I've been leveling up my monsters till they're level 10.

Here's my legendary card collection:

Here are some contests on Steemit where you can win card packs. All these contests are free to enter of course, you just need a Steemit account.

1572  Economy / Economics / Re: Is Bitcoin in a DotCom recovery phase? on: August 15, 2018, 10:51:55 AM
From the article:
Quote
Despite bitcoin's aspiration to be a safe haven asset, the cryptcurrency has not seen a rally with the stumble of the Turkish lira.

Now this is also something I'm curious about, I mean we did see an increase in volume on Turkish Bitcoin exchanges, but this hasn't resulted in the overall increase in price.

For your question:
Will Alt coins suffer the same fate and will Bitcoin rose out of the ashes like these bigger companies, that ended up being bigger and stronger than what they were, before the DotCom bubble burst?

We can't speak for every altcoin, but I do think that a large portion of them will disappear, just because it will become more and more obvious that they aren't solutions to real world problems.
How many coins and ICOs are there that claim they will revolutionize X type of industry, while in most of the cases those industries do not even benefit from having a blockchain-type solution.

There are a lot of investments going into projects that do not have the slightest chance at success. The sooner people get their money out of those coins/tokens, the less diluted the market will become.
Crypto investors seem to be very opportunistic, investing millions in projects that look good on paper perhaps, but in reality have very questionable goals.
1573  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cool dApps with a real world purpose! on: August 15, 2018, 10:32:51 AM
I've signed up with Trybe a couple of days ago, it's a blogging platform similar to Steemit, but built on the EOS chain.
It does work a bit different than Steemit though, seems like your articles are manually approved and rated, your rewards are given out according to the rating of your article.

This could be interesting in the future, but it's currently lacking a lot of features still.

https://trybe.one

One that's a little bit more interesting would be Steem Monsters, which is a trading card game on the Steem platform.
They've had huge successes, making more than $200.000 in their first month(s) after launch.

You can buy card packs and you'll get trading cards with varying levels of rarity.
One of the rarest cards in the game has been sold for close to 350 dollars, I believe.

1574  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcoin for Daily Fantasy Sports on: August 15, 2018, 10:21:00 AM
http://ggfantasy.com/
https://www.mvplineup.com/

Two Daily Fantasy Sports sites that accept bitcoin. They are relatively new. There may be more. The above sites have threads with their respective representatives here in the gambling section somewhere.

Fantasy Sports and Daily Fantasy sports is a billion dollar industry in the US. And the US and its states have been cracking down on US facing daily fantasy sports sites lately so hopefully bitcoin fantasy sports can catch on in the states. Would be good.

Both of those sites appear dead. It surprises me that there aren't more btc fantasy sports sites. Their business model doesn't depend on house advantage or players losing consistently. One might think that would be preferable to setting up a gambling site that relies on the house winning to turn a profit. I wonder what the issue is.

Fanduel and draftkings appear to be doing ok. Is there an intrinsic reason btc based fantasy sports couldn't emulate their success?

Maybe there just isn't enough interest in that? Keep in mind that fantasy sports is mostly an American thing and online gambling is illegal in most of the US.
That would definitely explain why there isn't huge interest for it.

Now that said, I would certainly welcome it, if an existing trusted gambling provider would also host fantasy sports competitions.
1575  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Mofos on: August 15, 2018, 10:07:17 AM
there are only two types of people making this kind of topics these days.
1. the bitcoin accumulators who want to buy more and more bitcoin and are always hungry for cheaper bitcoin to buy so they want others to panic and sell their coins to them. there is only a limited number of bitcoin available!!!

2. the altcoin bag holders who don't have any bitcoin and their altcoin is getting dumped. every day, every week,... they look at their "portfolio" and see they have lost another 20-30% while bitcoin price i still the same or even rising so they get mad and start silly topics like that.

Oh there are other types of people doing that as well. There's this one guy who posts one of those topics every month or so, in Bitcoin discussion.

You can tell that he really really hates Bitcoin, yet he's still on this forum pretty much every day it seems.
My guess is that he lost a big amount of money and now he's just plain bitter about anything Bitcoin-related.

I won't name him, but if you frequent the Bitcoin Discussion board, you might know who I'm talking about.
1576  Economy / Gambling / Re: ★ Crypto-Games.net ★ Player just won 1.3 million $ ★ 58.000$ wagering contest ★ on: August 14, 2018, 02:13:20 PM

~snip~

If I owned 48 tickets and had a 25.806% chance of winning, how did Djakapio own 47 tickets and have only a 2.688% chance of winning? Or am I reading that wrong?

Edit: Maybe it's a typo and he only had 4 tickets?

It was late, fixed. Thx.
It would be a lot handier if those results were posted automatically on this thread Tongue
Luckily you don't have a lottery for every coin, or you'd have to post those results constantly.
1577  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: HODL'ers sold 30BN$ of Bitcoin causing the crash on: August 13, 2018, 04:27:31 PM
That's such a generalization, I would argue that we now have more HODL'ers than ever who are keeping the price above $5000.
A lot of these investors have joined during the 2017 bull run and still haven't sold after the crash from 20k USD.

Before the bull run started, Bitcoin was still trading at just around 1k USD, in the first months of 2017.

--snip--

"I would argue".... No one cares what you would argue. The data shows this is the case.

The data from the original source you've provided, shows that there's still a majority of long term investors
Here's the original source on which your article is based on:https://blog.chainalysis.com/reports/money-supply

When HODL'ers say "HODL HODL" they are either lying while they are selling. Or if you are truly HODL'ing then you simply being scammed by the other other HODL'ers who are busy selling to you.....

Lol you tell me 'no one cares what you would argue', yet here you're also coming to some pretty subjective conclusions yourself...

1579  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Pleasantly surprised about LBRY on: August 10, 2018, 02:56:45 PM
So, have any of you ever heard about LBRY? What do you think about it?

I'm not sure, I might have heard of LBRY before, but I never really payed too much attention. So, thanks for sharing.

From what I can see, it is a really cool concept. I've just downloaded their windows app and it seems I should be able to claim the 42 free LBRY Credits.

Hopefully, their platform will grow and attract more content creators. More content will then translate into more people interested in that content, hence, a possible competition to the centralized book publishing on Amazon or video publishing on Youtube. Would like to see that happening.

On their discord they have a channel with a feed that shares everything that's been posted on LBRY, it's moving pretty quickly.
If you look at their roadmap, you'll see that development has been really active these past couple of months.

I really hope it grows, they're still working on implementing Youtube sync, so people can just move their entire Youtube channel onto LBRY.
1580  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is the existence of bitcoins a threat to jobs and national currencies? on: August 10, 2018, 01:25:56 PM
We all know how powerful bitcoins are especially in financial terms. Having one makes you feel like a newly-crowned king ready for his throne and lux. Its value and essence is something that we cannot just ignore, resulting for some people relying on these 'God-given grace' instead of working hard and gaining the money that their own country uses. Some thought that it would be better off to have bitcoins and convert it into any kind of currency rather than to get a job and earn some thing. What do you think? Will bitcoin be able to eclipse the existence of national currencies in the near future?

Not really. Actually blockchain is creating the systems where regular people can make more money rather than certain individuals getting the huge money and some crumbs going to their employees

How does 'blockchain' cause people to make more money that in any other 'system'?
What you are saying doesn't make any sense, I don't see how cryptocurrency causes people to magically make more money. That's what you're essentially saying...

Next time, at least say why you think that way, now you're just spouting nonsense IMO.
