2561  Economy / Services / Re: Roobet.com | Art Contest - $5000 Prizepool up for grabs! Ends August 31st on: September 04, 2020, 07:16:27 AM
Tell me the name you participated with and I will tell you how many points you scored.
Can you post the full list? I'm curious Cheesy

I'm also curious with my entry's score. Knowing it would make me do more in the aspect/category I fail to gain a perfect score, if ever there would be another contest to be made by the Roobet team (which we all hope so). But I think they only had points with what they think are good in making the top 5 as they based purely by the team's taste in the arts submitted, yet I think mine doesn't have any scores lol

I hope the September Art Contest would have lesser prize for 1st winner but would have consolation prices.
2562  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I need your advice on: September 04, 2020, 06:00:04 AM
Been seeing great men in here, some legendary and some hero members, some with high ranks. I love to aim high. I'm just making my way into the world of Cryptocurrency and I need the advice of each of you all. So my way into it can be very okay. Thanks in advance.

What is your purpose to be exact? Those coins would be useless unless you have a knowledge in background of financial literacy, risk management, blockchain technology, etc. There are many factors to consider before holding a coin nor investing in one, but if you would just asking "what to use", then it would depend. If you want a long term investment, then TRX, XRP, and LTC is good (while their price is low). If you want a short term trading, anything can be good as long as you are a good trader. But if you would wanna ask what system is good, then XRP is nice with its low fees and fast trasnsactions.
2563  Other / Meta / Re: Should "Bitcoin Meetups" have child boards? on: September 03, 2020, 05:27:48 AM
If I want to post about a bitcoin meetup in my area, or look at bitcoin meetups close or relevant to me, it'd be difficult to find them.

Major Countries could each have their own Subforum

And the US could either be divided into regions, or states.

Everything not included (countries not listed), could be in a separate category and the rules could be updated to allow only major and well organized events to be posted both in the subforum and the main forum (directing to the subforum).

I don't know how difficult it would be to moderate, there's probably a good reason it's not already that way. I'd like it if the section were actually usable though.

Such idea is mostly dumped and/or cliche. Even theymos wouldn't be bothered making another local board for meet-ups alone as Local Boards itself can be a medium. If ever you are pertaining to countries within the US, it can be done alone in the Bitcoin Meetups alone. Another way is to look for either a telegram group or a discord server that the users near you are joining.

And Little Mouse is right, there are no usual activities in that board to have an update for a child board.
2564  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [WARNING]: the profile "cocoguard" is a scammer on: September 02, 2020, 11:16:09 AM
chipmixer is a SCAM

Calling all the participants of Chipmixer signature campaign to get rid of this childish act of some random anonymous newbie which only had posted scam accusations and warning with no further and valid evidences, and subjectively targeted cocoguard upon his first accusation.

I don't side with cocoguard nor with anyone at all. This topic and argument must not been taken in a thread but rather preferably in a personal message approach. All the cocoguard's arguments were much valid and than the OP. If ever this goes further, I would personally request to flag whom really here is the scammer (in which it seemed that the accuser is the scammer rofl).

@suchmoon, being part of the chipmixer and a good scam hunter, what's your point onto this?

2566  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How about the idea of decentralized stablecoin on: September 02, 2020, 08:17:42 AM

Relatively fixed value.

Would it be possible if you can't handle nor manipulate it's price on the market and its system per se being centralized? AFAIK, it's impossible. Not unless it wouldn't have to undergo fork, or just simply backed with other currencies. Take Digital Gold (GOLD)[1] as an example - it is a stablecoin while being decentralized as well - yet backed with the price of a gram of gold as well. But still, from time to time, it's price fluctuates, but not that high and not that low.

2567  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum Fees on: September 02, 2020, 07:10:20 AM
The fees to send ETH are minimum $5 in fees ... is it going to change back to "normal"?
Who dictates how much fees are charged?
If ETH is claimed to be decentralized where are those high fees coming from if not from a centralized party?!

It will go back to normal lol. It's the gas that are costly in ETH in which was affected due to the spike and fork of Sushiswap. Better read:

Transaction fees on the Ethereum network have recently reached a new hourly record. According to Glassnode, an on-chain analytics firm, miners on the network earned over $500,000 in just one hour today as Ether (ETH) rallied.

Currently sitting at its 2020 high of $486, Ether rallied 10% today. The spike in network activity is thought to be related to the launch of Sushiswap, a fork of Uniswap that has hit $1 billion in total value locked in less than 24 hours.

The news may sound good for Ether miners whose revenue is increased by higher fees and more transactions. In fact, Ethereum’s network hash rate has been growing consistently, having reached its 20-month high recently, despite the recent controversy regarding a proposal that aims to reduce block rewards by 75%.

Therefore, never panic. ETH was never centralized. It's just that it was the 2nd most powerful and used crypto system in many projects.

NOTE: This should be in Altcoin Discussion board, better move this.

2569  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can Crypto be more valuable than gold? on: August 29, 2020, 10:01:05 PM
I have thought that one key advantage crypto (bitcoin, litecoin, Dash, monero etc.) has over gold is that its supply level is fixed and transparent, but can this or features make crypto more valuable than gold?

If the economy in the future would be the same as on the movie Blade Runner 2047 and other eutopic movies, then I guess crypto would be really valuable more than gold. But this argument keeps popping up from time to time and the answer is pretty much the same. Both crypto and gold have their different system, use, and purpose, in which the crypto has more advantage than the gold. If price and stability would be the meaning of being valuable, then gold is far ahead from the crypto.
2570  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I have shared about bitcoin on my class on: August 29, 2020, 09:29:54 PM
I'm having an MBA degree on Marketing. Due to COVID19, we are having classes online. However, we had a term paper submission and presentation on "Deceptive Advertising". I have selected the freebitco advertisement and had presented their Bait and Switch method to attract newbies to have click on their site.
The advertisement is- "Win $200 bitcoin per hour" which I think totally a deceptive advertising. Through this, I was able to give a little hints about bitcoin among my fellow mates and my teacher. I felt lucky when teacher asked me what bitcoin is actually after my presentation, I gave a short answer to them.
This was really great achievement of me, it may not be to you. I feel lucky if I get a chance to talk about bitcoin among my country men.

So basically you've thought them that most of crypto related activities and marketing strategies are often deceptive? Cheesy lol. But you're right, some platform tends to have a ridiculous offer in which some successfully pulled things off yet some are tagged as scams with such deceptive advertising.

What else have you thought them? I hope you've only told them what is the basics of Bitcoin and blockchain, or crypto in general, and not this forum. Some people might be doubtful most likely on how to earn in here and that's an issue we keep dealing and dealing in the Beginners and Help board.

And I've also remembered that some on my collegiate friends had used crypto as their research if our country or the local university is aware with such technology or not. AFAIK, lecturing others is the best feeling especially if you would share an innovative knowledge like the crypto and Bitcoin per se (to also prevent them with the false ideology that crypto is a scam)
2571  Other / Meta / Re: Ponzi schemes listed in Scam Accusations are they needed? on: August 29, 2020, 08:56:04 PM

I just report the stuff to the following (depending on free time and my mood) and move on. Feel free to add to it:

But then let's also consider that some ponzi schemes are mostly advertised nor created on social media platforms, therefore most of them wouldn't mind making an ANN thread here nor had any guts to do so. And with that being said, posting in Scam Accusation is merely just a warning, a little notice to the public to be exact. But yeah, suchmoon was right, all scam hunters must have their own thread that includes either all of their findings, or just one thread per category (example category is social media scams, trading scams, etc).

While scam accusation board is mainly used for reporting scammers, I too think that such ponzi scam post has made the board a bit weird. Such post shouls be posted on Help and Beginners as newbies are the main victim of such ponzis.

It depends on the initiative of the user whether they browse on Scam Accusation board or not. It wasn't the responsibility of the forum if they aren't aware with the scams that are already posted in the S.A board, but the better idea is to pin a thread in Beginners and Help board that tells them to consider reading the scam accusation board, but does all newbies really reads pinned threads??
2572  Economy / Reputation / Re: Discussion- Sending feedback from main and alt account on: August 29, 2020, 08:23:17 PM
Do's and Don'ts
  • It's okay to include your alt-account on your own Trust list. This means you trust the feedback you left from that account. Example:
    Quote
    hilariousandco Trusts these users' judgement:
    7. hilariousetc (Trust: +3 / =1 / -0) (1725 Merit earned) (Trust list) (BPIP)
  • Don't include your main account from your alt account(s). This could influence DT1-voting, and although that's not part of this guide, it's bad.

I didn't include my Mobile alt on my own Trust list, because I use it to leave non-DT positive feedback. I wouldn't mind having the negative feedback on DT, but I can't have it all. I do see my Mobile's feedback by default though, because HCP included it, who in turn is included by suchmoon, who is on my own Trust list. That puts suchmoon (DT1) on my Depth 0, HCP (DT2) on my Depth 1, and LoyceMobile (DT3) on my Depth 2.

But shouldn't it be enough to simply let your alt account be the DT member? Though adding alt accounts in DT wouldn't change the course of the trust afterall nor would affect the system, I still don't see why one account isn't enough for such actions. Because for me, trust system must only be used if and only if a user had scammed others nor had any issues with any transaction dealt with the user, and not by any subjective means as it would affect the reputation of the user right?. Hence, either using your main account or alt account to distrust someone shouldn't be an issue, therefore one must also be enough right?

Besides, (an example) who would've know if UserA from DT enlisted UserAa is his alt account or just a friend, and whom did really know if this alt with different name is really the alt of someone. All I'm saying is that there are so many open ended questions that applies with regards to the trust system in general. Hence, this issue will keep on going and soon some thread with the same idea as the OP would be created again and again (i guess)
2573  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is Buy and Hold Really the Best Strategy in Crypto? on: August 29, 2020, 11:38:23 AM
Some people say that Buy and Hold is the best strategy and can't be beaten. They hear phrases like “95% of traders lose money” and automatically assume that all trading is bad and markets can not be outperformed.

Do you believe that day traders or those whom trade daily do lose 95% of either by chance or their profit? Hell no! Trading in general depends on the strategy of the trader. Some trader are onto daily analysis and trading, in which a little movement and change to the price matters, yet depends on their reading if their prediction and analysis was right. Yes some of day traders often lose, but not those professionals, as experiencing loses tends to make you learn. Meanwhile, there are long term traders in which they hold their investment for years and withdraw it the time they wanted to, and not all cases of such investments ends up winning, some long term trades ends up losing as well if the crypto or an altcoin's price were dumped.
2574  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Ponzi Scheme hicmondtrade. on: August 29, 2020, 10:04:37 AM
Just now during the visit my Facebook account noticed this website shared by someone from my friend list. Immediately I unfriend him and search on the forum if the website exists here. I hadn't found any then I wondered to share it with the community. So if someone sees this greedy offer on Facebook they could avoid it.

You should've reported it on Facebook, the post and the user posted such scam. They might still be lurking around the social media, doing everything to fool un-knowledgeable people. Do you still have the link of the post? It might help stopping the actions of the scammers, especially prohibiting their IPs from using Facebook and other social media.

If that was just a little scam attempt, then they might not be knowledgeable nor had any guts to post here in forum, as even some starters in here are already awaken with dozens of scam out there and how scammers do it.
2575  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto after COVID-19 on: August 29, 2020, 04:25:43 AM

Whatever happens after COVID-19, there's no denying that crypto is a resilient alternative financial system in times of need. In a first of its kind, crypto has remained "impervious" from negative events in the mainstream world. My guess is that crypto will continue to go higher in price even after the demise of COVID-19, as people's trust in the banking system will diminish. The premier cryptocurrency (Bitcoin) will be officially recognized as a true alternative of Gold, proving itself as a store of value in times of need.

Thoughts? Huh

Though we all know the fact that the pandemic cause a great increase to the popularity, volume, and overall market of the cryptocurrencies, it would also boast a great danger onto it. Many had been using the crypto as a front of their scam activities, and with that being said, there are no impossibilities that some countries might regulate nor illegalize the use of cryptos. Therefore, as usual, crypto in general would have a little increase for months, but then after everything would be back in normal, then theres also a possibility that the crypto market would be back same before the pandemic hits the world.
2576  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: scamed of little amount by user on: August 28, 2020, 03:09:36 PM

i then installed telegram(i dont use it ) and added that user
see telegram profile screen shot.
https://ibb.co/Zd2yVg3

so marian-aa with 2 as pmed me to contact with the telegram id and that id had marian-aaa so guy is same ?

@Yolonu is different from @yolonu. Yes, character capitalization matters. And I guess you were tricked by others using Marianaaa with 3 A's and not the real user you're accusing. If that so, we cannot bluntly accuse someone if he really proves he has nothing to do with the accusation. But then again, it's really hard to tell which is which and the validity if the marianaa did really intend to use different telegram username or not.

i am even willing to give my telegram login to seniors to check chat,as dont use telegram ,i just installed it to chat with the accused marianaa

No need. Let's hear other's judgement if we should support your flag. For me, marianaa and marianaaa seems to be the same person whom stole your .002 and if the marianaa user doesn't have any proof of telegram chats and his username was different from whom you've been talking to (which can easily be changed lol), then there's no chance that you are winning here. But then, telegram usernames can be changed, hence he can use the real @yolonu then simply delete your chat to prove he hadn't contacted you.
2577  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoins with 1000% Plus Profits on: August 28, 2020, 02:01:31 PM
Hey Guys,

Can someone explain what are these altcoins and what is the exact reason of so much growth in just 24 hours?
Are they scam or legit? Thanks.

Those only happens with low currency volume and/or manipulated by fake trade. Better take yobit as an example, most shitcoins registered there are mostly being pumped then dumped right after many had invested. Yes, it is another form of scam, an indirect one. Not to accuse that those altcoins are scam/shit coins, but most likely, such events with high percentage growth in a day often were manipulated.

Take this as an example:
There are two users holding SHTCOIN
Currently, SHTCOIN is $0.00001
User A sold his SHTCOIN for $.01 in order
then User B bought it.

Hence, with such small volume and high increase, it was definitely a scam, fake trade, and fraud.
2578  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: scamed of little amount by user on: August 28, 2020, 12:35:37 PM
najeeb76,
better take this suggestion:

seeing the actual @yolonu would confirm that it was the same account.

All we can see is that the user you've been talking to is Marianaaa and not the accused account Marianaa. But what matters here to verify your scam accusation is if that telegram chat is indeen @yolonu and not other else. Better indicate screenshot here of the telegram account of the user, so that we could support your accusation and flagging anyone related to marianaa or had used @yolonu's telegram account (maybe she had many accounts but same telegram used.).
2579  Economy / Reputation / Re: DT Trust abuse & trust feedback abuse ~ on: August 28, 2020, 09:06:54 AM
The two UID's shown below are engaging in DT trust abuse as one or both are DT 1 or 2 thereby their twin personalities' negatives both show up as evidenced in the user profile page.

This person has attempted to silence me in the past with their regular attacks as well as their DT distrust abuse as a means of silencing me, now they are using multiple alts to further attack me.

I see this as an abuse to the Trust System, merely by a subjective cause, as both parties seems to have difficulty understanding each other's arguments. Though it was really unfair to give you negative trust just because of "shitting", what answers and ends this argument is whom really had abused the trust systems first.

In general, why do users need to use alt accounts for such activities? If users really distrust another user, why not use their main account? Shouldn't we use the trust system if and only if we have a valid reason, definitely not a subjective one?

I can't really tell which is which, but if this continues, I see that the administration would rather make a disciplinary action not only on hilariousandco but also to you.

In general, complaints about moderation should be made in Meta. I've seen theymos restore deleted posts based on this (that happened in Politics & Society).

I think Reputation board fits this thread well, as the OP pertains only to the matter of Trust, not the Trust system per se.
2580  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Fastest cryptocurrency blockchain to make a token on: August 28, 2020, 07:19:10 AM
Hello,

I need to do an own token or altcoin but can’t consider on which blockchain to base it? I need FASTEST one... so that transactions were confirmed in a few secs. So it shouldn’t be an Ethereum blockchain but something else.

Please let me know which blockchain to use for creating token/altcoin over it.

Thanks.

I do suggest the use of Ripple (XRP), as I've been using it for dozens of transactions I've made and still had no issues with its transaction speed nor its fees, even never had any delays. Their fees was too small, for about approx 0.00001 XRP (minimum) depending on the market of course, you can easily transfer money across the globe. I suggested it as I think it was far the current fastest blockchain technology with low fees. But if you would really make an altcoin, most cases (in which it is the most efficient), better use ERC20 system.

But yes, TRON is also promising.
