1581  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Pastor Shuts Down His Church After Winning About $140,000 In Sports Betting.. on: March 24, 2023, 09:57:56 PM
140,000 bucks goes a long way in most third world countries, so I don't blame this guy for thinking that he's set for life with that amount of money. Although at the end of the day, I can see him wasting away all this money, and going back to his ways of conning people out of their hard-earned money, but I doubt it will work now since his reputation is broken amongst his people. Although this hasn't been the first time we see evangelists doing weird shit, even saw a news back in 2018 of some African Pastor using people as his stepping stone literally because "he's so holy that he can't be stepping on unholy ground", and of course, the Jonestown Massacre incidnet. This one's kind of lighthearted and funny since he apparently came clean about closing up shop amongst his followers, so there's that.
1582  Economy / Economics / Re: How is the cost of living in your country? on: March 24, 2023, 09:14:43 PM
I live in a third-world country so you can reckon that the cost of living here is relatively cheaper than everywhere else. What normally would cost $100+ in the States, we get here for cheaper, even as low as $2!
However, when things like inflation comes around it hits us hard like a truck, since a lower cost of living means even lower minimum wages for its employees. So it's pretty much like a double-edged sword. Prices are still comparatively low when compared against the rest of the world's but so is employee wages, especially for blue-collar work like construction and plumbing, where you'd see people getting paid as low as $5 per day's work of construction and stuff which is shitty.
1583  Economy / Economics / Re: Al Transforming Job Market on: March 24, 2023, 08:12:04 PM
No doubt, the world is shifting towards an AI-driven workplace, I feel it too actually as a cryptocurrency writer. I find that most of the time, (since I work on a schedule imposed by the startup I am in) if I weren't available for a call or a quick chat, they'd write an article or a copy themselves using AI and just paraphrase is it or something, which to me is as threatening as it can be because if they could do it that easy, what keeps them from laying me off right?

In any case, i do think the day that OP is mentioning is still pretty far, considering that AI has still got a long way to go before it could even be on par with human cognition. In a couple years maybe, but that's still up for debate.
1584  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which kind of situation will force you to sell? on: March 24, 2023, 07:39:23 PM
Three scenarios will always make me sell:

1. If bitcoin increases in value so much that it would set me for life
2. If bitcoin decreases in value that the selling pressure is immense I couldn't keep it anymore.
3. If a significant portion of the demographic sells their bitcoin which is still tied to number two but in most cases selling pressure isn't linked to a lot of people selling.

In any case, I'd try my hardest to hold my bitcoins, especially after the fact that I hoarded these and worked for this bag for a long time. To sell is to admit defeat if I were to sell at a very low price. But not gonna lie, there's been times in the past when I'm forced to empty my bags.
1585  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Do Kwon arrested on: March 23, 2023, 08:27:30 PM
About damn time the bastard gets his comeuppance. The sheer damage and terror he brought upon the industry with all his shenanigans is something that will always be talked about even after all of this is said and done, not to mention the countless people he scammed of hard-earned crypto and money all for nothing. Also makes me laugh that he's saying he's not on the run and evading arrest when you can see him jumping in and out of countries like it's an island hopping tour all to evade the law. This is just the start of the journey for recompense that the victims of the Luna Crash will be able to receive. There's more to come to this and I hope the law's not too lenient with him just like with how they dealt with SBF's case.
1586  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin loan for students in higher institution. on: March 23, 2023, 07:17:25 PM
As many have pointed out already, this forum has a Lending Board you could relay your necessities to if you ever feel the need to take out a loan, although the board is a little biased (for its own good) towards people with higher rank and high trust ratings so as to avoid getting scammed out of our precious cryptocurrencies. If you're looking to ask for a loan specifically to pay out student debt I am not sure this forum will be able to help you with that or something because as what the other guy have pointed out, people who provide loans in this forum don't really care about your reasons for taking out a debt. As long as you have a valid collateral and is someone that could be trusted, you're good to go.
1587  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are Casino Sites Cheating Us? on: March 23, 2023, 06:39:08 PM

I have the same feeling whenever I lose money out o the dice games. It felt like they are just watching us play their games.  The minimum bet for some dice is $0.10, I'm quite earning by just betting the minimum so I thought maybe if I start my martingale with $1, I'd win more. And then suddenly in a few losing streaks, the money is gone. Not sure what to come up with it so avoiding the dice is what I'm doing.  Cheesy
I think this has been a common looming suspicion every gambler experienced at least once or twice in their lives. I've been a part of it too, even went so far as to create two accounts in my old gambling site just to test my theory and compare results only to find out that I was indeed wrong because on some of the games I lost considerably, I won big on the other, and vice versa. So, does this mean that this is not something that the casinos could do? Absolutely not, I do think there are some shady ones out there that do this stuff under the gambler's noses. But you can bet your bottom dollar no reputable casino would do this, for the sole reason that this could lead to them driving their customers and patrons away, just like what the other guy said.
1588  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Virtual Betting/ Real bet on: March 23, 2023, 05:47:57 PM
As far as I know vfootball matches change based on a couple parameters, as well as randomized events and such and such that causes odds in between games to change drastically. No manipulation is at play in between games so there's no reason for you to think that the casino is working against you. If you're not that comfortable playing with vfootball I suggest you switch up games so you don't feel like you're being cheated on everytime you play a game.
1589  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How my lack of knowledge has blinded me so far on: March 22, 2023, 09:50:33 PM
There are people like me who dislike KYC verification requirements from online casinos, and I always have two complaints about it.

1. Why the need for KYC.

2. Why pretend they won't ask for KYC, but ask for verification after a big win.
Any gambler is suppose to be aware of KYC or rather expect it. Besides it is for the gamblers good as it helps to dictate scammer and anti money laundrers. And also to identify and verify their customers, understanding the nature and purpose of customers relations and any suspicions transactions will be dictated easily.
If there is no KYCrequirement, or any form verifications, many people will not be interested in gambling site because many people must have been scammed and left the site and give the site a bad name that will discourage many others.
I think there is need for KYC.
Exactly. at this point with even the most remote of casinos asking for a little verification from the customer's part, everyone should already expect that KYC is here to stay and will soon be a universal staple in the casino industry. The indispensable security it provides added with the anti-laundering and scam-deterrent features it provides to you and the casino just warrants it to be added in every cryptocurrency casino in the future. As a matter of fact, I would argue that you should be worried about the casino you're playing with in the future if they don't ask you for KYC at some point during registration or during withdrawal, that's a sign that the casino you're playing on may not be so trustworthy as you might think!
1590  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Stake.com announces Israel Adesanya as their Global branded ambassador on: March 22, 2023, 08:52:54 PM
@Pierre 2
Although everything you had said is your right as an opinion,
Adesanya did lose his title while being their ambassador so there is nothing really to be proud of in this agreement.
He use to mention them and show bets from the site in his freestylebender videos on his channel but since then, nothing.
It is sort of like with any celebrity that takes on a partnership role with any company:
They get paid to promote the company in this case the cryptocurrency casino but then after that they only did it for the money.
They are not dedicated to them in any shape or form once they get paid. ie: drake: money stopped, no more streams! He is using MGM to make bets now

Heard of Floyd Money Mayweather?
He shills 40 different brands so what? Floyd doesn't gives a rats ass about them, because as soon as the funds hit his bank account he says "xxxx, who da f#(k is that?!".
Sad but true. You'd rarely find athlete sponsors who dedicate a good amount of their time and effort into looking as if they really care about the product they are advertising. These sponsors should know this by now. They'd only ever follow what the contract entails and would rarely go above and beyond it since there's no incentive in giving a damn about the sponsor, other than I don't know, under the table favors in the future, but that is a rare case. Adesanya, Mayweather, Mcgregor, every A-list athlete wouldn't give a fuck about their sponsors beyond the conventional shoutouts and product endorsements, and I think that's fine, i don't wanna root for a sell-out after all.
1591  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: sports betting - football/soccer on: March 22, 2023, 08:11:16 PM
Oh well, another bettor offering to help people with their betting strategies to get decent win results in their games. Surely all help is welcome in this forum, after all this was made with that in mind. But I implore you to back your basis with evidences and mathematics to ensure that people don't follow your stuff blindly. What works for you may not work for them, but if you are advertising a universal trick that everyone can use and abuse, surely there has to be some math behind it that enables the system to work in your favor right? Although I'll take your word for it, since you seem like a decent person and you don't look like you're getting anything from this anyway so it practically looks like you're doing this out of your own volition, in that case, Thanks!
1592  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which Game do you think is a Game of Chance or a Game of Skill? on: March 22, 2023, 06:52:33 PM
Blackjack is a game of skill, with a bit of luck mixed into it, as with most of the games you play in the casino really. On the other hand, Dice games are exclusively based upon chance and are not (at least I hope) determined by any parameter or rule that is set upon by the casino or the players. Frankly enough you could look at every casino and you'd find that most card games are based upon chance, with blackjack and poker being exclusively based on skills, and even those two still have some element of luck that put into play, that could oftentimes determine the outcome of your game.
...//..,,,

  • Slots
  • Balckjack
  • Baccarat
  • Poker

I think Slots is a game of chance and Poker is a game of skills. Do you agree?

This question has been answered  on this forum.

Slot: think about it, what could be the ability...  nothing, the ability in this case is not intrinsic to the game, but to the player, e.g. in his good management of the bets, his budget to gambling etc.

The rest, BJ, Baccarat may require numerical skills, but if you have them, you probably don't play BJ, lol, but obviously they do require experience and skill.

Poker, to summarize it, some experts say that it is 80% skill, 20% Lucky, although it is inappropriate to give an exact percentage, but without a doubt, the Poker it is in which in the long term you can get good income, that largely this happens to the player's skills.

Exactly. Slots literally just require you to crank a lever and hope for the best the rest of these games at least involve some human cognitive aspect to win.
1593  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The future of CBDC in gambling. on: March 22, 2023, 06:07:14 PM
CBDCs are not cryptocurrencies.

Non of our concern here with fiat, CBDCs are just fiat and nothing more. If any gambling site begins to accept CBDCs which is what would later happen, they are still just accepting fiat. Our concern here is crypto, not fiat.
Exactly. a lot of people are misled into thinking that CBDCs are cryptocurrency because of their digital nature but at the bottom of it all, they are fiat through and through. Although I would agree with OP in a sense that this still warrants some form of discussion to be made since there's no restriction in this forum that states you can't talk about anything other than cryptocurrency gambling in the Gambling Discussion forum. But I digress.

CBDCs are still a little infantile and are still with its fatal flaws that makes it unappealing to the people who it would cater towards. For example, unlike cryptocurrencies, and sometimes even unlike greenbacks, CBDCs are highly traceable and are able to be tracked down right from their minting, that wouldn't sit well with a lot of people.
1594  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is the Strangest Bet You Have Ever Had? on: March 21, 2023, 10:00:50 PM
I consider this as one of the strangest bets I have ever made even though there's no money involved really.

So back in 2015, I was very big on League of Legends, and so are my friends. Just so we can party up as a team and play together with good comms (Voice communications wasn't available in LoL at the time), We'd rent a couple PCs in Gaming Cafes and play to our hearts content. So here's where my strange bet came in. I had a female friend who's included in that LoL group who's pretty good at the game and a gay friend that's just starting to learn the ropes. After going out for some food, we decided to play league at the usual place. For some unknown reason the gay friend and I decided we'd bet on if the female friend will play with us on the gaming cafe or if she's going to stay home and play on her laptop. We went back and forth at it, I made a bet that she'd play with us, the gay friend bet on the other option. Oh by the way, loser has to voluntarily die 5 times against their lane opponent effectively throwing the game on their lane.

By some stroke of "I'm going to mess with this particular guy" the female friend said she's going to stay at home, and so I thought I lost. I even went so far as to keep my word and willingly submit to my opponent in 5 deaths.

She played with us on the gaming cafe , so basically I literally just shot myself on the foot. Didn't even struck me that she played with us until after the game was over.

So yeah, that's how my strangest bet went.
1595  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Placing bet on WWE on: March 21, 2023, 08:43:38 PM
It is indeed fixed, in a sense that there's a script that foretells who's going to win and who's not. But I still bet on it anyway, the reason, because it's fun!

Unlike conventional fixed matches that sucks the life away out of betting and gambling, betting on pre-determined WWE matches don't as they keep the viewers unaware of who's going to win, with some scenarios letting out a little hint on what's to come and whatnot but never outright telling everyone who's the victor and who's not.

As a matter of fact, I've done a little mixup on the WWE games I bet on, I don't bet on who's going to win, but what's the finishing move that they'll use to win the belt and the title.
1596  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How my lack of knowledge has blinded me so far on: March 21, 2023, 07:53:22 PM
Just like what most people have already stated and pointed out, the implementation of KYC in a casino is almost always a good sign that the site is reputable and trustworthy. Not only for the casino as they could avoid regulatory penalties and all that shenanigans, but also due to the fact that it provides immense protection against scammers and hackers that needless to say, are left and right in the gambling industry. KYC is something that I personally look for in a casino, besides good customer services and all that important user benefits. Because I know for sure that if a site has KYC set in it I could rest assure that only I will be able to access my account and any attempts made by other people will be notified to me and will be dealt with immediately.
1597  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How much these features weigh most when you choose your favorite casino? on: March 21, 2023, 07:16:07 PM
This is how I'd grade each:

Features                                                                                           Importance

Huge Variety of Games and Different Sections (Sports, Live Tables, etc.)           4
Good Bonus/Reward Program                                                                        6
Good looking, Intuitive and Fast User Interface                                              10
Good help desk                                                                                           10
Strong Community/Reputation                                                                     10
The Age of the Site                                                                                      1
Casino's Own Token that Pays dividends/ability to mine it by gambling             1
Instant Deposit & Payments                                                                         8
NO KYC                                                                                                      I don't know what to say to this, I really look into sites with KYCs despite how tedious the process is
Nr of Payment Methods                                                                                9

As you can see, I hold KYC at a high regard, it's a surefire way for me to tell whether the site is reputable, plus points if they could make the process rewarding for its users.
1598  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: why people promote gambling sites . on: March 21, 2023, 06:14:14 PM
You have to understand that gambling sites and casinos are businesses first, and whatever they wanna be second. So profit and garnering the most users/customers will always be their primary want. THus the reason why these companies resort to hiring influencers for sponsorships in exchange for advertising their sites in their platforms. Of course it is pesky, it's scummy, and all in all a little manipulative, but they gotta make money somewhere and found that as the streaming era becomes more and more apparent, so do the opportunity for advertisement that it could offer.
It's pretty obvious, it's business from this guys. So if there will be one way to promote their business, then it's should be in way they will advertisement it in whichever they can, like in social medias. And then it's up to us whether we are going to be sway and test it and gamble our money, or don't gamble and not be influence by the ads even if someone famous is promoting it. And again, gambling is like part of human history, it's in our culture way back and just very difficult to remove, in my opinion. There are governments though that is anti-gambling, but still though, their efforts is not enough as again, gambling is innate to all of us.
Exactly. "No hard feelings" as they say. The casino's gotta run the business somehow, and this is one of if not the most effective ways to make sure they have people that are manning the slots and filling the poker table.
1599  Economy / Economics / Re: Has anyone felt lost in pursuit of financial freedom ? on: March 20, 2023, 08:07:00 PM
Surely, everyone who's set their hearts and minds to a certain goal, be it financial freedom or anything really, will feel a sense of loss and confusion. I've experienced this as well most often during the early days of when I was working my ass of to get that paycheck and increase my overall net worth. I still feel it now sometimes. I've spoken to some people about it and a friend of mine, a really wise bloke if I do say so myself. Told me that it's something you feel when you've come so far from where you've started, you don't recognize the stuff you're in anymore. Think of it as someone who's walking a path that is never taken by anyone. At some point in the journey you'd be in a place that's never been charted by anyone, thus the place will look unfamiliar to you. This may cause you to feel some sort of loss in direction or whatnot, but you must take that step forward.
1600  Economy / Economics / Re: Scarcity of money on: March 20, 2023, 07:13:48 PM
The scarcity of money in the world isn't indicative of the whole world giving the poor people an unfair disadvantage or whatnot, but is closely tied with making sure that money retains its inherent value and does not succumb to overprinting and loss of value. Think of it this way, you're craving for some hotdogs, and you don't want anything else. Your neighborhood only has a single hotdog stand, and that in itself makes that lone hotdog stand precious to you. But let's say over time the people notice that as generous as you are, you crave for hotdogs, and all of them started setting up their own hotdog business, that wouldn't make the hotdog as appealing to you now would it, seeing as everyone sells hotdogs and everywhere you go you see and smell the scent of hotdogs getting steamed, fried, or grilled.

The same goes with money. If overprinting happens, inflation ensues and the value of a single dollar depreciates, which causes it to not be as valuable as it was back then.
So countries control the amount of currency they own to ensure that it remains valuable.
