2581  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Which crypto-currency protocol would be best for a real life, local currency? on: August 04, 2017, 10:35:19 AM
If a small town were looking to create a "my town cryptocurrency" where they use it in all of their shops, salaries, coffee, government, etc. which protocol would be the best to replicate?

As big of a supporter of Bitcoin as I am, I understand that you can use bitcoins for this. I have lived on bitcoin and paid for coffee with bitcoins, but I imagine some of the alts may have currency advantages over bitcoin like fast confirmation times and other features that would work better as a localized currency as opposed to a world currency.

Any thoughts on this?

I just want to go with whichever chain allows me to buy a coffee now...and when I am an old man looking back 50 years from now I can point to that transaction and say "that was my transaction...it was a coffee and it was delicious".

Why not just use physical silver and then you don't have to worry about all your transactions being tracked and monitored in an Orwellian-style dystopia?

Set up a service to allow me to do that and I will.

I can currently do it with bitcoin via many third party services.

It's not theft. Government collect tax to use it for the people

Is it voluntary?
2585  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 04, 2017, 04:48:08 AM

Guys, iīm completely lost, i sit the whole day in front of my laptop, and click on lending at polo. my spouse tells me to go fck myself. Is there a selfhelp group somewhere ?

Yes. You can write an app to automate those clicks.

Personally, I do feel it is theft, I never consented to any taxation. I feel that this video helps explain the video quite well https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGMQZEIXBMs

It's not a theft on my personal opinion for which it returns regularly to every person. Government use our collected taxes to build and repair infrastructure that we need. Tax is also use to every project of the government. The collected tax is thrown to different fields, research, armory (army), donations (donated to disasters survivors), education, infrastructure (includes roads, bridges and repairs), and lending (public lending of money with little income). So to the Government must use it well maximize the collection of tax. It's like our money will be back by means of the government's services to us. One good example, our money will be back by means of government securing our safety.

So sad that you believe that only government can do these things. Even sadder that their propaganda has worked so well.

In case not news already...Coinbase to support BCC (or wtf the ticker is now)
shit just got interesting...

Coinbase was holding a ton of peoples' bitcoins during the fork. Coinbase now has a whole lot of bcash to sell.

Ipso facto...Coinbase is cashing out their BCH.

A quick survey that should help.

Bcash cost of production (difficulty) is now being slashed by 20% per block for the next 6 blocks. Expect miners to follow cost of production slavishly. Forking guys have no idea what they have unleashed ... it will become apparent soon now.

Yes, the existence BCC will destabilize BCT mining.

Everyone knows that at equilibrium, if BCC has 1/10th the value of BTC, that the hash power mining BCC will be 1/10th that mining BTC.

What is less obvious what happens when the system is not in equilibrium. Imagine that the market reprices BCC 100% higher and BTC 10% lower.  What is the expected distribution of hash power now assuming short-term profit-maximizing miners?

The answer is "most of it will be mining BCC." Because the difficulty adjusts only very slowly (every 2016 blocks) BCC becomes twice as profitable to mine as BTC.  Hash-per-hash miners would earn double by mining BCC.  This continues until the difficulty reset comes when BCC would go "limit up" (4X), when most miners would leave BCC back for BTC.  BCC's difficulty would slowly ratchet back down due to its fast difficulty adjustment and the process would later repeat.

What this suggest is that at times when BCC is more profitable to mine and the hash rate migrates to BCC, the average block time for BTC will increase significantly and BTC's already slow and expensive transactions will become much more so.

Umm..what?

How is 25 BCC (at 10% the value of BTC) mined per day more profitable than 300 BTC per day?

Corrupt politicians that are having salary from the tax. I hate those people.
People are giving them salary and it's like a legit way of theft. It's a theft for me.
It depends they canīt take all the money of taxes for themself, with that they pay the maintance of a country someone wacht them to not theft.

Interesting. If someone takes your money on the street without your consent, would you say that is theft? Or would it depend?

What should I do with my 2K sats of BCH on Bitfinex? I haven't bothered confirming, but that is not enough to meet the order minimum, correct? I guess that I'll have to keep them. So I am now an official BCH HODLer who will get left holding the bag. Grin

(I also have 500 BCH sats on Hashnest too, left over from my dump. Guess I'm a HODL no matter what.)

Same here. I have some dust on bitfinex and bittrex.

Maybe in 20 years when bitcoin is worth $100 million, bcash will be worth $10,000 and I can sell it for a coffee.

How to lose 200$ :
1) Buy BCH on high-volatility Bitfinex with a "325$" Market Order. BCH are bought at 331.

That was your first mistake.

Enjoy your safe space.

No taxation isn't theft. Build your own country or kingdom if you think it's theft. tax is the blood of a country to operate.

Interesting theory, I do not believe I have ever heard that before. Care to elaborate?

Yep. Yet another topic inundated by signature freaks.

Yet another thread to lock.

It will be interesting to see which dormant BTC addresses move to sell their Bcash tokens.

Will give a better idea of which addresses are dead and which are just hodling.
2597  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Real Time Socialist Train Wreck (again) Happening Now in Venezuela on: August 03, 2017, 05:34:22 AM
the state in Venezuela is the state that every socialist/communist countries end up in. I'm not reading western mainstream media, but that doesn't change the fact that every socialist/communist country ends up just as Venezuela is now.

But that doesn't take away the fact that the Venezuelans voted for the Socialist Party. Before Chavez became the president there, more than 70% of the Venezuelans lived in poverty. Chavez reduced it to around 30%. So obviously, a large part of the population benefited from socialism, at least initially during the regime of Hugo Chavez.

The initial euphoria for the poor after killing capitalism and moving to socialism is akin to a zombie apocalypse. Suddenly, even the poorest person can go out and get any car they can get their hands on, they can go to any grocery store and get as much food as they want, they can go live in a mansion. They are now "rich". Oh, and by the way...there is no more gas being produced, food will be scarce and nothing new is being created. But hey...free stuff!

The value of bitcoin are still stable at $2700, this was not what i was expecting after the fork. Its supposed to be roller coasters and new ATH.

i guess the roller coaster bit has been postponed untill after the new ATH.

August 19.

Waiting too long can cause a considerable lessening of the BCH value, no?

Currently we are able to get between .12 and .25 BTC for these, but I think that their longer term value is likely to float below .05BTC?

But, maybe we will have some surprises and pumps that last a few months, rather than BCH dying on the branch?

The only place you can actually deposit your BCH the rate is .07 and falling.

HitBTC allows BCC deposits.

Price of BCC on HitBTC is $239.
