What if....

Bitcoin was just a big ploy by the developers of Dragonballz to promote their show?

This whole time!

That's why the price keeps going back under and over 9000.

It's been a long time coming but well done gentlemen.

Then it will be another half year before I finally get my zirconia teeth installed. By then I'll be 71 years old so hopefully they'll last me for the rest of my life.

Diamonoid teeth will be awesome!

Good to see the price moving up.

I finished my fast and I'm feeling great...full of energy on a couple of Tahitian bananas. Maybe I'll set up a detox resort on the seastead when it gets built.

Speaking of, we have the roadmap for the seastead in place https://www.blue-frontiers.com/en/tokensale (page just went live, I bring info to you guys first Wink )

From the ground I am hearing very good things but we are trying to stay out of the public eye due to the elections in May (we don't want to become an election time issue). After the election the party that supports us is slated to win big time, we'll ride that victory through a sale to raise funding for the project.

any good news from G20  Huh

The only good news from government is when they don't do much. Which was the case this time.

but if they say yes , more whales coming to crypto world witch is good for me 4 sure XD

Just remember what the whales did to gold in the US. Perhaps they can have another meeting on Jeckyll Island about how to help you with your bitcoins.

You also get the legacy finance folks seeping into our thread about Bitcoin talking about ponzi schemes.

Without fresh money to pay off old holders the price cannot continue to rise.

That would have been a pyramid scheme, which bitcoin is absolutely not.

Bitcoin roughly follows Metcalf's law:
"The value of a .... network is proportional to the square of the number of connected users of the system (n2)."

Therefore, to increase in value 1000fold, you only need to increase the number of users about 31.6 fold.
I doubt that there are 30 mil active bitcoin users, but even if there are, 900mil out of 7bil is a possibility (eventually).
I think that someone projected $2-5mil btc with about 400mil active users.

BS - metcalf's law is about efficiency - and we all know how Bitcoin behaves with more users

Bluebits is right - its a pyramid and unsustainable through itself - there has to be a constant! inflow of money to keep the price on point! - absurd - If everyone HODLs price will decline
There's even that MtGox study which shows that without blatant manipulation price almost always declines. And this is what we are seeing the whole time.
Price declines - pump it up through wash-trading, spoofing, tethers - price declines - repeat

Welcome to Bitcoin!

Pagecount has passed ATH.. 11 pages til 20K.

That’s it. I’m shorting full leverage.

Shorting pagecount?

I don't know why everyone obsesses about governments regulating Bitcoin.

Ever since I figured out it was a good thing I assumed they would eventually try. But I also realized that once you have them they can't do shit about that.

That was a big motivator to get as many as possible while still possible.

The music will stop and those holding fiat will be the ones that lost.

Not sure if today is historic but I think I may have made the first bitcoin trade in French Polynesia. I'm sure there may have been some sailors at bars showing someone how it works or whichever. But I did a localbitcoin trade and I have kept my eye on the FP market on localbitcoins for the past year and nobody was selling.

I do know that some locals have crypto, I met up with the local blockchain group. But they have to send their money off to a bank account in Europe then send it to Kraken to get their BTC. All with high fees. Well, actually I charge high fees too (because that's what you do when you have a monopoly on a market and can get away with it). I actually welcome competition and a thriving bitcoin community. Maybe my high fee will encourage some local that it is a good way to make money.

French Polynesia has a $5 billion GDP. So...time for the seed to spread and convert that $5 billion into bitcoins for future generations to enjoy.

Reasons this cannot be a 2013 style double bubble:

A new run would require an infusion of fresh speculative money. The infrastructure cannot scale up quick enough for this to happen. Coinbase was the #1 app, how is it supposed to go up from there? It used to be wiring money to a shady loser card game exchange, now anyone with a bank account can move money in. Until you can buy it right on the Nasdaq or something it can't get any easier. When 30,000 people know about BTC you can go to 30 million. You can't go from 30 million to 30 billion, even 30% of the population having heard of it to 50% is an enormous step that is almost impossible.

Without fresh money to pay off old holders the price cannot continue to rise. Without the promise of new ATH there is no reason to buy.

No double bubble means the limit here was 11.7, and with that fallen it has probably moved down to 9.7. Tick Tock, when BTC looks down and isn't standing on the ground it has to go someplace solid, $5,500, then when it is getting up and looking around it sees it still didn't fall all the way.

Mining wasn't banned in Plattsburgh.  They will not allow new mining operations to use the subsidized local utility.  Maybe try getting a slight understanding of a topic before freaking out.

How stupid do you have to be to oversell your electricity when you have a fixed subsidised supply? Wtf did they think was going to happen? These guys are blaming Bitcoin, when it is their own economic competence at fault. I wouldn't be surprised if these protoplasmic jellies crawled out of lake Champlain.

Tongue

Come on guyz...I'm sure the politician that decided to subsidize electricity had her heart in the right place. You can't expect unintended consequences to happen with government interference. This would be the first and only case where that has happened.

Ironic that everyone here wants a Lambo yet has utter contempt for Roger Ver and CSW:

The only two narcissistic shitheads in the crypto space that actually drive those tool wagons.  Roll Eyes  Tongue

I hope I don't devolve into someone who would drive a Lamborghini. When I was 12 I might have wanted one.

Here I am just selling about $1k (in francs) worth of bitcoins here in Tahiti wondering if I could get a really cheap car for that much or if I should hold out and wait to see if I get another buyer to push me up to $1500. I'd do a scooter but I'm an amateur on those things.

You guys think Bitcoin is the only thing plagued by FUD?

Look at Facebook:

Years of nothing but bull rally and the MSM is all sunshine, rainbows and lollipops on the stock.

But when technicals start to breakdown and signal a rollover in the stock, suddenly out of left field some shit FUD comes out about Cambridge Analytica. Perfectly timed, no less.

Fucking hilarious to me. All markets are rigged.  Roll Eyes

Considering there are...what...3 companies that control all of US media...they have it pretty much in the bag on how they can manipulate things.

Well good afternoon Bitcoinland. Just got online after successful surgery Friday.

I see I missed some excitement while I was away... big dip and big recovery... currently $8172USD/$10700CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

It's pretty much back to where it was before I went in. Woke up and decided to fire up the laptop just in time to catch the end of the rally.

I guess my bladder alarm still works.   Cool

Nothing to do now but relax in the Mexican sun and convalesce until I get my sutures removed on Thursday. I can't fly for at least a couple more weeks but at least I can head out to the jungle later this week.

I'm currently toothless with very fragile gums after bone grafts to my jaws. Needless to say, I'm on a totally liquid diet. Ever have pork tacos pureed in a blender? Delicious!

Did anybody actually read Jimbos post ?

Jimbo, i apologise in behalf of all these money orientated people here, they have nothing other than money in their brain.
You heartless bunch.

I read it...the dude is chillin in the sun sippin on some blended tacos. Livin it up!
