261  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you feel when you look at your first Bitcoin wallet? on: September 19, 2023, 10:54:08 PM
Almost everyone could've got the same feeling. None expected bitcoin market will turn this big and there will be such a level of growth in the short term. As said in the OP,  what volume of transaction have taken place in our wallets. We could've kept something for the future, because the price at which I saw bitcoin is around $300 and what is the price now. Opportunity have been missed, but the market have given access to buy/invest based on ones affordability.
262  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can Gambling affect your relationship? on: September 19, 2023, 10:43:24 PM
Gambling strengthen relationship when they are on the winning streak, and things going in the opposite way when we're on the losing streak. With some people each used to stand as moral support and overcome the financial struggles that have arisen due to the gambling. This way some relationship have been successful after massive loss from gambling.

I personally had suffered and it took me lot of time to come out of the financial problem that caused due to gambling.
263  Economy / Economics / Re: Any business where today you launch, tomorrow you begin making profit...? on: September 18, 2023, 05:59:24 PM
No business brings rewards overnight. Every business needs time to grow and turn profitable. There used to be different time period during which different sectors used to be at better position. The last few era is much about information technology growth. One who had skilled in information technology and related sectors were able to make themselves rich.

For people who are skilled in making others fool/cheat can make themselves rich within short time. Most of us could've seen similar people living around us. For them it isn't business, but it all happens due to something wrong that had happened in their lives in the past.
264  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: September 18, 2023, 05:57:44 PM
We should wait for the complete news from the Pakistan cricket board, the most of the bowlers will be used in the World Cup.Becasue the bowling of Pakistan was enough for the Pakistan to get the Cup.The bowling is the important part of the cricket, any can make runs. But taking the wicket will change the entire things in the cricket. The quality of the bowling was in good standard in both the Women and Men team of Pakistan. So both men and women team will target for the cup this time.

Pakistan pace attack is strong with Haris Rauf and Shaheen but there is lack of quality spin bowling. There is no genuine spinner in Pakistani bowling lineup. Moreover there is lack of consistency in Pakistani batting lineup. We saw Babar Azam unable to perform in Asia Cup. Pakistan need to improve spin department and they need there batsmen to perform under pressure.
Pakistan needs to improve every unit. With batting it have got good order, same with bowling. For some reason the team feels down and I'm not sure whether it is due to internal issues within the team or something else. During the match against India, they're at their best but failed initially and the same costs them big. If someone isn't successful, there needs to be player to fulfill the need standing wickets. Hope the World Cup will be a big place to prove their ability to the world.
265  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Not banned, yet not accepted on: September 18, 2023, 05:52:56 PM
Now my question is this, do you think because bitcoin is still widely in use in countries where it has alot of restrictions makes it not banned or people who use it are breaking some sort of law?

Bitcoin is not banned in some countries because they realized that the people has their right to voted on what they want and go for it since we are in a democratic era whereby public opinion is never looked down upon, then the leaders are maybe linient enough in considering the people by making laws that suite their favour, some countries banned bitcoin because the leaders are more centered of themselves than the people in consideration because they feels like they have the power to make influence, but above it all, bitcoin has more resistance over them all because it's independent on itself and decentralized.
These days we can hear the word democracy everywhere, but the country doesn't have the real democracy. In a democratic country, the government function to fulfill the need of the people. It never tries to restrict when found good. In most of the countries, the government doesn't have real understanding and also fear that they might lose control. Countries legalizing bitcoin is a big step and hope more countries join the rally in the upcoming months/years.
266  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Be rich sheeple or free people, what's your choice? on: September 18, 2023, 05:48:43 PM

No middle way, no trick, no further questions, no this or that, your choice and tell me why this and not that!

It's a shame that you limit it so that there is no middle way between the two options. Even though genies usually give 3 wishes, not two. But this seems like a different genie  Cheesy

Of the two choices you gave, maybe I prefer the second. After all, bitcoin is freedom, even though its value has increased 1000x from the current price but suddenly my bitcoin was confiscated by the government which is very serious because a 1000x price increase is meaningless if the bitcoin we have is confiscated. And after all, freedom has a price that is more expensive than anything else

Many people also choose the second option like you, but I want to know if that is everyone's honest answer? As far as I can see, people love bitcoin and invest in it because of its volatility. Volatility gives us the opportunity to make profits and many people also admit that if bitcoin becomes stable. Bitcoin will be boring and maybe they will find an alternative investment. That shows people are more interested in bitcoin profits than any other utility. But in this topic, people choose freedom and privacy over profit, this really confuses me.
People just for conversation will say that they're much attracted by the technology, decentralised functioning, privacy and other features. The reality is the growth and the profit it can provide in comparison to other forms of investment. Rather than volatility it is the increasing price that attracts people. Volatility will be known later when people have made their involvement into the market and leanrs to profit out of the volatile market. It is true, if bitcoin stay stable automatically the usage will decrease drastically.
267  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Some of country can offer you legal gambling in 2023! on: September 18, 2023, 01:11:42 PM
I found out from google that gambling is legal in some number of countries and still banned in many countries.
~snip~
What do you feel from this that gambling is less ethical?

Gambling is basically taking money away from the poorest people of the country and giving it to some of the richest.

It's usually allowed because there are heavy taxation, that is, the government takes a cut from it.

But at the end of the day, most of the money being made in gambling comes from the poorest people, which they end up in the streets, or worse.

So, it is a social problem eventually, but is a huge cashflow for the governments, which then have to pay to help the same gamblers later on.

Some countries want to protect their citizens from that, others only care about the cashflow coming in, other are in between.
It is the truth with gambling. Majority of the gamblers used to be the poor people who hope for some win and keeps wagering.

Gambling is a social problem, but some states give importance as it is used as a source for some social cause. In my nearby state lottery draw is conducted by government as the revenue is used for treatment of cancer to the poor people belonging to the state.

In my country gambling is much popular from the days of COVID.

What an impressive comeback by South Africa in the series! They were trailing 2-0 but managed to secure a remarkable series victory. It's extraordinary, to say the least. The decision of the Aussie captain to bowl first three times in a row after winning the toss is surprising. Australians didn't perform well, and this should serve as a wake-up call for them, especially considering the upcoming World Cup.
Australia were missing some of their star players to be fair(Steve Smith, Pat Cummins etc) and they experimenting with some players which is why they will be a lot, lot stronger in the World Cup.

Also, they tend to perform really well in big events like the World Cup and they are one of the favorites this time around.
Without the mentioned players Australia won the first two ODI matches. Last three matches were really good for South Africa. Australia won the toss in last 3 matches and in all the three matches South Africa is asked to bat first. South Africa used the opportunity well and scored 338/6, 416/5, 315/9 and defended well winning the series. I expect South Africa to give similar performance in the upcoming ODI World Cup and Australia will take it a learning and prepare themselves stronger than before.
269  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will there be a boom again? on: September 18, 2023, 11:34:18 AM
As you are an old person from long time ago you have good knowledge about this forum with bitcoins, you will invest accordingly. The best advice I can give you from my experience coming to this forum is to invest in bitcoin and avoid investing in altcoin. It would be better to buy bitcoins for the future with the money you have left in your savings from the money you earn now. Moreover, if you invest in Bitcoin it will never be risky but safe, and you can earn good income from it in the future. And if you invest in Altcoin, it definitely has enough risk and not so safe for your money, that's why you should avoid investing in Altcoin. So I will advise you to avoid altcoin investment and invest in bitcoin as your money is safe and profitable in it.
In terms of risk, it is quite clear that this is always greater for altcoins than for Bitcoin, so your suggestion is not wrong if the direction is to invest in Bitcoin with the remaining money that someone has saved from the money he earned through his hard work. Because from what has been seen, Bitcoin can always provide good profits and returns to everyone who wants to invest in it and today the price of Bitcoin itself has almost touched $27K, so some people who once bought at $25K may have started to smile a little today.
The price of bitcoin have crossed $27k and we can expect this slow and stabilized market progress to take place for longer time period. With every investment there is risk, cryptocurrency is not an exception. With altcoins the risk is higher than bitcoin. As we've got the halving scheduled for the upcoming year, we cannot expect good rise over the weeks/months. The rise usually happen close to the days of halving or once after the halving is over.
270  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin in your country. on: September 18, 2023, 11:09:42 AM
In my country from the beginning there is no big support for cryptocurrency from the government. It didn't make any information or announcement regarding the acceptance of bitcoin or legalizing the usage of bitcoin. Over time this had changed as the government found the increased interest for cryptocurrency among the common people. At some point government took cryptocurrency acceptance into discussion and taxed 30% on revenue and 1% tds. Even after that there is no official announcement on the legal status of cryptocurrency within the country.
271  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will BTC go above $30,000? on: September 17, 2023, 11:57:56 PM
-

Better to keep holding and if you still have enough spare, it's also possible to buy for more and maybe lessen the chance
of dealing with day trading or any future trade position.

The market is so volatile it may harm your investment if you don't know what you are doing
while placing your position.

It might go in any possible direction better to anticipate and make your decision when you
already reached your target.

The best solution now is to accumulate and keep holding. The market is very volatile although there are opportunities to gain short term profits, but I think holding and staying away from the trading plan is the most advisable option. Market movements are still very slow as far as September goes, but we never know how it will turn out because there are still 2 weeks to see the difference until the end of this month.

When they have decided to invest, they must be able to maintain their plan in the long term, not ruin it for one reason or another. Good planning will benefit them in the long run, including having a reserve budget for urgen needs.
In context to the upcoming halving I find it to be the right time to hold than just getting into trading practice. Being into trading will give the choice of increasing the holding volume. However it have got th risk associated with it. Not everyone able to tackle if things happen in an unexpected way. For now the prime focus of each and everyone is about the halving scheduled for the upcoming year. With everything in mind we need to be good enough to keep things planned and execute it well. Market is moving in a stabilised manner which assure $30k to be reached in a slow manner.
272  Economy / Economics / Re: Food Crisis - Improved, Worsen or still the same in your country (No Change)? on: September 17, 2023, 11:17:21 PM
It became worse in my country. All agricultural products have been increasing in price. I think that there's a very wrong system that's happening in my country from farm to market distribution. It is because it's not the government that does this distribution but it's the independent businessmen that do this. So, the cost coming from the farm going to another middleman and even before going to the market, there have been a lot of hands that have touched the food products so there's a huge margin that's being placed before going to the consumer. I still look forward that there's hope on this problem. Yes, it's global problem but this shouldn't be affecting the local markets that we've got in terms of food production and delivery. The government should remove all of those middleman so there won't be a lot of margin that becomes the burden of us, consumers.
It cannot be denied that those who manipulate market prices are intermediaries. And answering this question is very difficult because intermediaries and farmers are interrelated. What happens where I live is that many farmers want to farm but run out of capital and the only way to get capital to farm is to borrow from middlemen. When farmers borrow capital from middlemen, there is usually an agreement between the two parties, "where like it or not, when post-harvest arrives, farmers who borrow money from middlemen do not only have to pay back the money they borrowed. "But they (farmers) also have to sell their crops to middlemen."
and it is true that the problem of increasing food prices is caused by middlemen so that farmers cannot sell their crops directly to consumers.
It's the same with our local farmers, they're borrowing money to have capital for their farm lands. But it's not even guaranteed that they'll earn from all of their hard work. It's because of many factors like our country is always being hit by natural disasters especially with typhoons, not just that but super typhoons and all of their hard work turns into vain. Aside from that, the manipulation in the market when they harvest is at worst. It's always the farmers harvest' that are being taken for granted because at most times, they're being low balled while the middlemen and businessmen that puts less effort on this business are even making more than what the farmers deserve.
Every farmer is in trouble. The middleman eats everything and governments need to take some action for the direct buying from the people, so that benefits will directly reach the farmers who are one to profit. These days environmental changes have brought the rain vary from the calculation. This will affect the planned cultivation, and in my country the government have made some fast check as some middleman have kept hold of good volume of wheat to manipulate the price. Through proper investigation this had been caught and the price of wheat is well balanced than allowing it to rise deeper. So, rather than the farmers the middleman eats and the crisis keeps going.
273  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Knowledge vs hodlings on: September 17, 2023, 11:11:34 PM
Knowledge about Bitcoin is essential.  It is also one of the driving factors why investors are holding BTC.  Through the acquired knowledge that Bitcoin is a good investment and will have the potential to increase in value over time, people will then start to accumulate and hold BTC in order to gain profit in the future.

With knowledge comes belief.  If a person fully understands the economics of Bitcoin he will not get easily shaken by any news that gives a negative sentiment because the person will know that the negative sentiment will be temporary.
Agreed, people invest into bitcoin easily as everything can be done as if like adding a product to the cart and buying it. The goodness relies when the same is being executed in the right way. This means buying/investing into bitcoin will be done by everyone. When it comes to holding with patience, not everyone does it. This is where the knowledge have its role. Only with the knowledge acquired over time we'll get to know which is good and what needs to be done.
274  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Saudi Professional League 2023/2024 on: September 17, 2023, 11:06:51 PM
Anybody who claims that the Saudi Professional League is not gradually growing to compete with top clubs in Europe is not telling the truth. If the league keeps buying well-known players,  in few a years the league will attract more fans and sponsorship and endorsement deals. I recently watched some of the highlights of some current games and it is clear that the club has made tremendous improvements in the game of football.

It’s obvious that the Saudi league is growing and getting bigger and better. They’ve been doing a whole lot to bring up their league and getting more publicity and attention. They’re likely to create a competitive league in the near future if they keep at getting more players from all over to compete and play in their league.
They’ve gotten new fans now watching them play and the publicity is likely to get even better as they continue to make new and better improvements. It would probably be a long time before  they could equal the EPL but they’ll likely get there some day.
Someday they could level the standard of EPL, but this isn't very near. Saudi Arabia Pro League is running successfully and the big reason behind is the support from the government. Not many government does it, the country find this as a way to bring people into the country and invest. The league that is traditional and old have been made more popular with the involvement of more number of popular faces. Big money spent on players when the western clubs were struggling financially is perfect execution for success of the league.
275  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ICC WORLD CUP 2023 ACTUAL DISCUSSION THREAD! on: September 17, 2023, 11:02:37 PM

No one could have imagined that Sri Lanka would perform so badly today.Because this year's Asia Cup, Sri Lanka has won almost every team, not only India. That Sri Lanka came to the final match with India and got all out for just 50 runs, this match was really not enjoyable.Because people including the audience in the field who are in front of the TV and even the people of the entire Asian continent may have wanted the game to be crowded but it was not.I agree with you and say kudos to both teams for finishing the game so quickly.

exactly, India was on the top and was considered favourite team to win the final but no one expected that Srilanka will perform so badly. We were expected that Srilanka has favor of home ground and crowd and this final match will be tough one. Srilanka crowd and even all cricket fabs will be not happy today. Siraj bowled a magnificent spill , The field was set for attack and Srilanka top batsmens failed to defend and lost wicket continuesly.

India players will be now in full confidence and they will be looking to play same or even better in the world cup. If they played with same confidence then it will be very tough to beat India. their bowling is looking more dangerous than Pakistani bowlers.
It was an easy win for India but a humiliating loss for Sri Lanka. The entire cricketing world was amazed by their performance. The team was not really fit to play in the final where Pakistan was a good opponent for India but they could not win due to bad luck in the semi. Such a defeat on Sri Lanka's home ground is questionable for the people of their country. No one expects to see such a match spending money. With such a poor team, how will Sri Lanka play in the ODI World Cup? ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 I will not trust Sri Lanka team.
No one could've thought of such a defeat. The team being smashed on the home ground is another thing that makes it a very bad experience for them. Siraj ruled the game with his 6 wickets for 21 runs. The best part he had made the record of taking 5 wickets bowling just 16 balls. I watched the toss and saw Sri Lanka starting the innings and suddenly while checking the score India have begun batting. The only came to know that Sri Lanka have made just 50 runs losing every wicket. A final match of a tournament shouldn't be this bad.
276  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: September 17, 2023, 10:56:19 PM
South Africa are currently under a lot of pressure with the loss of four wickets. South Africa has performed very well in the past matches but in today's last match the South African team lost wickets heavily. Losing wickets in power plays in ODI matches certainly puts the team under pressure.
South African side make a good comback against a strong opponent in ODI home series and not only tied the series yesterday but won the consecutive three last matches and ODI series too which is really big achievement for them because before a world cup such kind of performance will boost thier moral and motivate them too, so it's true that they lose Quick early on wicket of thier captain but later middle order batter markram fix the situation and score a big bunch of runs later miller, jansen and rest of the player add some decent runs to score board and thus they scored a a quite significant target which easily defended by them with the help of this mistery spinner Maharaj and young guy jansen which really damage Australian lineup before done something significant.
South Africa winning a series always used to be a great task. Most of the time South Africa team used to perform well, and they won't win at the end. This makes me think South Africa to be unlucky to win matches as well as series. Even in this tournament the team made a good comeback, and in today's match I thought somehow Australia will chase the target. Luckily things favoured South Africa and the team have won the series. Marco Jansen's five wicket haul and his 47 runs from 23 balls from the lower order is really great contribution that had helped in the winning of the match.
277  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Women's Cricket Prediction & Discussion - T20 & ODI on: September 16, 2023, 09:47:53 PM
Once after the T20 series between Sri Lanka Women's team and England women's now the 3 match ODI series have begun. Earlier Sri Lanka won the T20 series 2-1. The ODI was played in the Riverside Ground, England, winning the toss England Women's team decided to bowl first. Madavi being the top scorer for Sri Lanka Women's team with 35 runs. Finally Sri Lanka lost all wickets scoring 106 runs in 30.2 overs. England Women's team chased the target in 18 overs losing 3 wickets and leads 1-0.
For mens cricket Sri Lanka has a pretty good team and can compete with other big teams but for women cricket I don't really follow it and from reading some of the feedback in this thread I am interested in also following women T20 and ODI cricket.
I watched a little of Sri Lanka match when they went to England for the ODI series at the beginning of September but there the Sri Lankan team didn't really seem to play well and indeed England dominated in the last match.

But to be honest when you watch a cricket game in the T20 or ODI series it tends to be more enjoyable when it comes to the mens team because there are quite nimble and fast runs and even the ball is always struck in a strong condition.
In the past we used to see women's ODI and T20 matches with low scores. Now things have got batter with the leading teams and we can see the scores going down depending on the teams. Teams like England, South Africa, Pakistan, India have progressed to score around 150 runs in T20 matches. Teams like Sri Lanka, Ireland were on the next list at the scores levelling between 100-120 runs. With time this will have changes as the players will gain experience and perform better than before.
278  Economy / Speculation / Re: Good time to sell? on: September 16, 2023, 09:40:17 PM
No one knows what Bitcoin's next ATH will be, so if someone wants to sell, they have to guess and figure out a selling price. Because here everyone wants profit so if a certain amount of profit can satisfy someone then it is their own strategy. Bitcoin is a life changer, Bitcoin can change an investor's life as we have seen in past bull markets. So the most important thing here for me is that I haven't set any target yet, so I think about taking decisions based on market conditions.
Even the expert doesn't know well about the ath. The crypto market used to behave in a different way from the traditional market. With the stock market, the predictions used to be precise from the analysts. With cryptomarket the predictions from the analysts used to be coincidence and doesn't look like perfect one. With bitcoin it is good to go along with the market, so that it'll be easy to take decisions. However our minds should be prepared enough not to think once we've sold it, because the next day after we sell it could've bounced big.
279  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: People Are Not Nerdy Enough on: September 16, 2023, 09:33:37 PM
Yes, I am complaining that people are not nerdy enough. It's been 14 years since Satoshi published his white paper and the vast majority of people still don't understand what Bitcoin is and how to use it. Sure there are many people buying Bitcoin on crypto exchanges and speculating on it.

However, the average guy on the street that I speak to, and even many people on crypto forums still don't understand Bitcoin's potential as a virtual commodity, or it's potential to create an alternative to Fiat economies. Maybe the problem is deeper than just a lack of understanding about the technology? Maybe it's a lack of understanding about economics as a whole? How many people are economists?

I understand that my frustration might be due to the fact that I am coming from a very privileged position. What are your thoughts on this?

I think that it happens due to low adoption level: people just don't know much about cryptocurrencies. They don't need crypto, since they can't buy things using these coins. Since its impossible to transform digital numbers into values, it seems that  these numbers are not valuable. So for most people it looks like waste of money: no need to buy digits on a screen...
It is very early, takes time for people to learn about technology and experience the transition from the fiat to the digital economy. When it comes to cryptocurrency, it is completely technology based and for that reason it is not an easy thing to reach the bottom level of the people easily. When the usage increases automatically people will get to know about it, as well as try to explore and understand what is bitcoin and the need for it against the traditional system into usage.
280  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How to Control Your Emotions and Win More Bets on: September 16, 2023, 09:13:35 PM

The other thing about the drive to survive is that it is both a logical and emotional response. Emotions, fear, as an example, helps us survive. This isn’t the way our consciousness and mind think but it is the way our brain thinks.

Our brain is in our control, what we are going to do comes from us - emotions/feelings, and wants to do. But if we talk about gambling, it is a different thing knowing that we are not controlling it so we couldn't say that if we wanted to win, we win. No, because gambling is also controlled by others which is beyond our control. This means that whatever their plan (owner) will also be the result and this is why players often lose their money rather than winning.
With gambling we don't know when we'll loss control. If we're on the winning streak we'll have the patience to think and we'll place the bets. When we're on the losing streak the mind always thinks about recovering the loss. By this time we should've got the control to take a break, but most of us get triggered and multiply the bet value. This at times recover the lost fund and most of the time loss used to be the end result. Having limit on spending unlike win/loss used to be the best way to control ourselves.
