Sen. John McCain: I don’t understand this president. The crisis on the border. He did the fundraisers, the fundraisers in New York while they’re major conflicts, not to mention the loss of American lives. It was reported there were Americans on the airplane. I do not understand it. I think your network has already played the clip of Ronald Reagan’s reaction when the South Korean airliner was shot down. This is just what we used to call in the military A-W-O-L.

I'm not all that big fan of Obama's actions myself, but is there anything he could have done that you would not have criticized? If he had spent a lot of time talking about it it would just be empty talk, and if he had promised some kind of real action you would have blamed him for pulling the US into yet another war. The Soviet Union was the ultimate enemy of the US back then, so of course Reagan would spend some time on it when he had something serious to blame them for.

Yes, it is. As Balthazar said, it's several trucks on wheels making up a missile complex:

Of course, if you consider 3 vehicles a "complex". It's hardly NORAD, though. There is bound to be someone among the rebels who's been in the army and knows enough to get it up and running. Unfortunately they don't have the support needed to know if it's friend or foe.
263  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Malaysia Airlines MH17 Crash: Boeing 777 Crashed in Ukraine Near Russian Border on: July 18, 2014, 12:52:48 PM
Telling me that my father is an idiot it's not a good way to start a discussion. However, your point of view on anti-aircraft missile complexes is pretty funny, but this topic's purpose is far away from entertainment. Roll Eyes

I don't really care how clever you need to think your dad is. It's not a "missile complex", it's a tank or truck with rockets and support equipment mounted on it. It needs to be able to be ready to fire in pretty much seconds, so it has to be easy to use.
264  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Malaysia Airlines MH17 Crash: Boeing 777 Crashed in Ukraine Near Russian Border on: July 18, 2014, 11:52:35 AM
Because having missiles isn't enough to use them. It's not a crossbow, you need 1-2 years of appropriate education before you'll be able to take down anything.

You probably just made that number up, or at best heard it somewhere and believe it because it fits with your opinion. I've been in the army myself, and although I don't know anything about this system in particular, I know that this kind of stand alone equipment is made to be usable by idiots with very little training. The army will make everyone repeat at the same tasks for months, but the basic functionality is learned in days or even hours.
265  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Malaysia Airlines MH17 Crash: Boeing 777 Crashed in Ukraine Near Russian Border on: July 18, 2014, 11:22:29 AM
This is true. The whole story looks like one of those conspiracy theories. Everybody rushed to blame Russia and the separatists, although they did not have a capability to do such thing.

How do you know you didn't create a conspiracy theory right there? According to ITAR-TASS the rebels have earlier claimed to have the necessary missiles. Why do you believe the claims the rebels have made after the fact, and implicitly discard the ones they made before they understood the consequences of this event?
266  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Malaysia Airlines MH17 Crash: Boeing 777 Crashed in Ukraine Near Russian Border on: July 18, 2014, 10:44:48 AM
Before this article gets also deleted:

The proof that the rebels had indeed a Buk missile defense system.

Quote
DONETSK, June 29, /ITAR-TASS/. Self-defence forces of the Donetsk People’s Republic have taken control over a missile defence army unit equipped with Buk missile defence systems, the press service of the Donetsk People’s Republic told Itar-Tass on Sunday.

Why are they now claiming they don't have it ?

Because if Ukraine can prove the rebels didn't take it from them, it means they must have gotten it from Russia.

Scam or not? on: July 11, 2014, 09:12:14 AM
Oh well, there are always lots of other ponzies you can join. Bitcoin-Trader is all the rage right now, so at least you'll be in good company when it collapses.
272  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Mydailybitcoin.com ? Scam or not? on: July 10, 2014, 09:21:35 AM
I'd give just about ANYTHING to have a US-based, 1%/day, investment site that backed up every dollar I had invested.  I'd throw every dollar I had at them.  I'd create such a site, myself, if I knew how to do arbitrage reliably and could find like-minded people in the US that could do this every day.  Why can't someone, who cares about their investors and not just themselves, do this?

Would you just give away the profit to random strangers if you knew of a way to earn a ton of money? Honestly?

If MDC is a Ponzi scheme, how can it even hold up?  If 10 people invest $100, they get $1/day.  But let's assume they all decide to release their principle and withdraw everything at the same time.  The scheme would fall apart INSTANTLY!  Because, if everyone's 1% is covered by the next person's deposit, everyone is $1 shorter every single day... EXCEPT the first person!  NO ONE else could ever release/withdraw everything.  The money wouldn't be there!  I've pulled EVERYTHING at least 3x now and never a single momentary hitch.

And in the mean time you and others have attracted a lot of new victims which pays for your "profits", and some have probably put all the money back into the ponzi. When you are no longer successful in doing this it will be closed down.
273  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-07-02] Winklevoss Bitcoin ETF to Trade on NASDAQ Under 'COIN' Symbol on: July 09, 2014, 07:50:21 AM
You NEVER own the stuff traded on the commodities exchanges and ETFs etc.

And in the case of gold, you can't be sure that the ETF owns what it thinks it owns. If it's stored in Fort Knox nobody is allowed to test or even see it, and there are somewhat good reasons to believe that some of they gold bars they store is not pure, but instead filled with other metals to give it the same weight.

i created a topic related thread for BT.biz. take a look

Wow, that's a pretty impressive amount of BS. You must be getting desperate to get a bit more money before you close down. You even reminded us that you've promised an audit months ago, which apparently is still months away.

In other words, you would collapse the market and earn $00.  Wink

I agree that those are completely different words, with a completely different meaning from what I said.
277  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: GHASH.IO + DISCUS FISH >>>51% Possible to death bitcoin? on: July 02, 2014, 08:51:10 AM
Doing a 51% attack is like shooting yourself in the face. You get absolutely nothing out of it. If you control enough hashing power to perform that, why destroy the very thing that's making you money?

By denying every other miner any profits you can almost double the bitcoin income. This will make other miners give up, and then you can gradually turn off some of the miners and save cost. The risk for this is already very high but it doesn't seem to influenced the price. It's hard to tell if this is because the majority is in denial about it or just doesn't care. If it's the latter it means it would be very profitable.
278  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: NewEgg accepting BTC!? on: July 02, 2014, 07:51:09 AM
I dunno, there's also a big background on the front page that says 'Pay with Bitcoin - Learn How'. Not sure how you'd miss that, maybe it isn't showing yet for everyone...

I was sure I saw that once. It has never appeared again, though, even when I've tried different browser and different IPs. I was wondering if I had only been dreaming.

It's interesting that this would be huge news a year ago, but there has been good news so frequently that now it's almost ignored by mainstream media. It's just a constant trickle, which hopefully will make it slip into the usage of "common" people without them even noticing. BitPay is doing a great job for this on the business side, but we still need something similar on the consumer side.
279  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: bitcoin-trader.biz on: July 01, 2014, 12:25:27 PM
The 500 i reinvested may be lost however those are "reinvested earnings" so if i lose them that's in the category "lost opportunity", not "lost capital". You may disagree on the last point however it does not change anything on the amount of "hard cash" which i extracted. I agree that if i had not reinvested them i could be at a 20% profit now instead of 13% loss.

Lost opportunity would be if you didn't reinvest, and it wasn't a scam. Lost capital is lost capital, no matter how many times you withdraw and reinvest. It's just silly to say that if you invest $1000, withdraw it all, then reinvest it and loose, you break even.

Strange, no more critics, no more Yonce and friends to say how this is all junk. Well, good I thing I listened to myself and invested into this, according to my calculations I should reach full ROI on July 21.

It doesn't stop being a ponzi just because we don't feel the need to repeat ourselves daily.
