Anyone seen our current market depth?   Shocked

Yeah i saw it. This is a good thing, that people are still prepaered to buy. But that will not pump th price for now, because  buy orders are posted to low.. But they provide security. Soo good thing.

+1  Wink  this is not over yet people.  Not by far

@Gaglam i still trust the Ethereum Foundation over the Banking System.  When Greece failed as a country, the government with the banks, took 70% of everyones bank balance and gave it to Germany.  Then they imposed a maximum of 60euros per day withdraw limit.  The Ethereum Foundation have never done anything like that.

It will get adopted quick enough when the negative interest rates yield no economic growth.  When the value of fiat stars to fail.  When banks start to charge to make a deposit.  That's when the adoption will kick in.

When the banks start to fail.  And they will.

Moreover: Ethereum Classic is not even in Beta. We are not ready for mass adoption. The Foundation is not ready either, they proved that with the Dao. This is the early stages of something big and it needs to be right. First, all the ETC has to move into the hands of the people that believe in it.  That is what is playing out right now in this price war.

Yes, that negative interest rate monster is coming... And it will sweep the financial system everywhere faster than anyone expects.  People with their head in the sand think these fees and charges only affect the banks... Imagine their shock when those fees go directly to the "retail" consumer of banking services.  I imagine they will start off trying to say only accounts of certain size or certain types will have fees at first, but before long it will be across the board.

Most people have NO IDEA this is about to happen to them.  I frankly am concerned that we won't have the infrastructure in place to be able to dodge this hit as it comes.

I totally agree, but the infrastructure is already here.  We just have to learn how to use it effectively and that will always be ongoing.  When it happens we will hit the ground running.  Did you watch all of Keiser Report Episode 957 from Tuesday.  Max relay goes to town on
negative interest rates with Plucky in the first half  https://www.rt.com/shows/keiser-report/356809-episode-max-keiser-957/

Stantander is old news.  They were the first to sign up to the January tests for the R3 group.

We want to bring the banking establishment to its knees not get into bed with it.

What would happen if Satoshi struck a deal with Goldman Sachs, Bitcoin would be finished!

You just don't get crypto do you?

I think you dont get it. Crypto is there to rise in value to get more fiat back than invested.
What can you buy in a normal shop for btc or etc? Right. NOTHING!

For sure but do want to trust the banks?
268  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ETC] Ethereum Classic: Immutable Smart Contracts on: August 25, 2016, 05:21:21 PM
As we all knew the R3 January Tests were private blockchains anyhow.  We expect the banks to run private blockchains too.

The article is about right however: who the hell is "project lead Arvicco"?
This project is lead buy us all.  Even Charles claims he is only a supporter and not a spokesman.
Another self proclaimed Satoshi?  Wink

Thats the media for you.

green do the pools still suffer from that ddos?

Most the main pools now have ddos protection but 1/3 of the network is still solo http://etherx.com/pools/

I saw this on Slack.  Not posted by me. But for those that are interested

I think they may be running out of funds, I found an account yesterday that dumped around 1 million ETC
they use convoluted ways
to do it gradually
check this: https://gastracker.io/addr/0xd6c9710363cdb12eb585e817f431d44cfa442dde
it uses other accounts for duping, but you can follow it

It may surprise you but I am a member of the UK Labour Party.  UK government are about to make a big push into crypto.  Last month I met with John McDonnell (shadow chancellor of the exchequer) in Liskeard, Cornwall on the “New Economics Forum” and we talked on these issues.  We do that sort of thing here, Keep checking the world news.  It's happening.  End of October.

Wow, an actual in-the-wild (albeit self-indentified) Labour member, right here on BitcoinTalk of all places!  Cheesy  No wonder your initial posts triggered me so!   Grin

Are you a Corbynite?  What do you think about Jeremy demolishing the party and remaking it in his own image?

Did you know he's a radical (not very crypto) Marxist?  Are you a Fabian also?

How are you not terrified by the prospect of crypto enabling financial sovereignty?  Don't you realize that halts your long march through western institutions and quashes your dreams of enforced equality of outcomes?

No idea WTF I'm talking about?  Watch this, it's a deep dive but well worth it, especially if you haven't been keeping up and require remedial background.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZDwDroAMeE

I watched some of your video iCEBREAKER.  It highlights to me how sick politics has become.  Again, very much like the Classic / Foundation split.
The issue Jeremy has is that his politicians, still want power over people.

The "Labour Party" is made up from "Party Members" like myself (there are 630,000 of us)
and "The Parliamentary Party" only 230 of them.

The "Parliamentary Labour Party" don't want Jeremy
"Party Members" like myself do and we are the mass majority.

The "Parliamentary Labour Party" want power over people.
"Party Members" want to govern at a grass roots level and where we can use tech to govern.
We want the vote on an individual level across the country on mass over all political issues.
This means  the 230 "Parliamentary Labour Party Members" (the politicians) get fired and lose their jobs and their power.

You see this tech has the ability to support an autonomous governance model. "Leaderless"
This is why ETC is priceless and "they" (the ruling classes) want to crush us and this technology.
They want it for themselves to have power over us.

I spoke to Charles Hoskinson on slack and asked him if he would go on RT's Max Keiser show.
His reply was (and I'm paraphrasing here) "I am not your spokesman or leader, I am a supporter"

On a personal level  I, am an "Anarcho-syndicalist"

Anarcho-syndicalism (also referred to as revolutionary syndicalism) is a theory of anarchism which views revolutionary industrial unionism or syndicalism as a method for workers in capitalist society to gain control of an economy and use that control to influence broader society.

In Ethereum Classic the syndicate are the users of the platform.
In politics the syndicate are the people.

DECENTERALISED POLITICS/GOVERNANCE!

Things like "UK Labour" and "Ethereum Classic" are tools to try achieve that.

This video shows where i am at https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=8oeiOeDq_Nc

Thank you for asking iCEBREAKER

Warm Wishes
Paula

@Longsnowsm  Do claymores mine some rounds for the developers? Claymore dev may have solved your solo blocks.

The way Claymore does it is he has it hard coded so that at a certain interval it disconnects from my "pool or solo" and reconnects to a pool of his choice mining to his address.  Then once he gets his 1% hash it disconnects and goes back to where you are mining.  It reflects this as "devfee" hashes in the miner output.  So he is mining to a pool so I don't think that should have affected my hashing or blocks.

I don't know how trusted your node will appear on the network to all other nodes with that hashpower disconnecting and reconnecting to your geth node!  How often does it do it?

I think it is like hourly it does the devfee cycle.  You might be right.

I am going to just shut everything down for the rest of the day and will play with it tonight.  Right now it is just burning electricity and getting me nothing at the moment.  I will just take a "break" from crypto's for the rest of the day...  Gotta get back to my "daytime job" for now! LOL

Enjoy your rest.  Final thought! Claymore devs could be using that hashpower for mining ETH during that cycle.  Undecided

Note for Miners.

To work out how often you should hit a block with your hashpower,
get the difficulty and hashrate and price from here https://etherhub.io/home
Get the blocktime/interval from here http://fork.ethstats.net/
and feed the info into this calculator here  https://etherscan.io/ether-mining-calculator  Wink

Unfortunately there is this element of luck in solo mining.  The calculator gives you an estimate of how often you "should" get lucky.  However don't be surprised if like me you hash away and don't hit a block.  Based on the calculator I should have hit several blocks by now.  So I will wait patiently for a little while longer before moving back to the pools.  Very discouraging.

This is why we have pools and they must be supported also. But yes it can take some time.  And Blocks can come close together.  Every one has to make up their own mind.  Even pools get good and bad luck.  Solo is a good way to defend the network when under attack.  I have my fingers crossed for you Longsnowsm.  Best to have options.  I have not ruled out  switching when things are stable again.

That is the right way forward. Crypto is not mainstream yet, and governments are right to be wary (just pragmatism). However UK Labour is quite alternative in their outlook, so I guess they are into a number of maverick projects.

The Labour Party are divided like Ethereum and Classic.  Some want to be in Europe and want Blair ideology.  The other side lead by Corbyn wants decentralised bottom up politics. In “Prime Ministers Questions”, he reads emails from the public, directly at the Prime Mister.  Never been done before.
Exciting times here!  Pound down, so people are looking for something different.

Note for Traders

Only invest what you can afford to loose.
Don't trade on emotion, only on mathematical theory / systems.
Do your "due diligence” research, research, research. (Is the commodity experimental?)
Spread your investment over a number of coins to “hedge your bets”
Think of going “short” to protect you from potential losses.
Do not trade with a loaded gun and a bottle of spirit in the room.
Crypto is high risk, have you tried gold or silver training? forex even?
