2642  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum 2FA on: December 13, 2020, 03:56:50 PM
Does the 2FA in Electrum provide a false sense of security to the user or is there an actual use case that would justify the fees that TrustedCoin receives for their service?

I'm not a fan.  The idea of trusting a third party to sign my transactions seems to go against everything I've learned about crypto.

The fees alone are enough reason to consider other options.  I don't remember what TrustedCoin charges, but if you use your wallet a lot the fees might add up to the cost of a Ledger Nano or another affordable hardware wallet.

But, if we're only talking about desktop wallets there are plenty of security measures you can take that will mitigate your risk without TrustedCoin.  For example; using only bip39 seeds with your Electrum wallet will prevent someone who accesses your computer from seeing your seed phrase.  If you absent-mindedly walk away from your computer with your wallet open, an attacker would still need your wallet password to sign a transaction.

I agree that TrustedCoin would only help if your passwords get compromised after setting up the wallet.
2643  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Fake Gunbot PM spam on: December 13, 2020, 03:38:50 PM
Interesting.  My PM settings allow messages from newbies, but I haven't received one.  Not that I feel like missing out...

But this seems like an incredibly inefficient method of spamming.  IIRC the default forum setting is to not allow PMs from newbies, and I imagine most people leave it set to the default.

BTW what is behind in the code JL0216? I just searched on google and see a lot of results carrying this code.

Looks like a model number for a toy excavator.
2644  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🚀 Sportsbet.io - Official betting partner of ARSENAL FC 🚀 on: December 13, 2020, 01:59:08 PM
Just sitting down to watch S’ton vs Sheff Utd, anybody spot anything interesting?

Nice!

Congrats to Southampton and Sportsbet.io.  The Saints break into the top four, third on the table for now.  It's been a great season for them so far, and they've been a lot of fun to watch.

I have my eye on Leicester as a possible upset. Brighton has been playing much better then their table position suggests and Leicester looks like they have run out of the steam a bit.

Someone's gonna have to take it on the chin today, and I really really don't want it to be Arsenal.
2645  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Why link Dropbox to Trezor for naming accounts? on: December 13, 2020, 01:47:29 AM
Simple solution: Use Electrum with your Trezor!  Your accounts will each have a separate a wallet file, and you can name it any way you like.  You can label your addresses and transactions.  All information is stored locally on your PC, no cloud, no privacy concerns.

You need to bet a lot in order to get to Silver and Gold in my opinion but for a high roller it shouldn't be a problem.
I need to start working on making it to silver level in the clubhouse, I'd soon be halfway through bronze level. It's slow at my end because I haven't placed much bets.

I'm right there with you.  I've only been toying around when I feel confident about the bets.  I've been so busy lately I've barely had time to keep caught up on the Premier League, and zero time for the Champions or Europa cups.
2647  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [SELL] Lealana Bitcoin 5 Coin Brass/Silver/Gold Coin - Münzset on: December 12, 2020, 10:56:03 PM
Considering that none of these are loaded, you could expect about 0.1 to 0.15 btc at current pricing.

Just curious; would that be for the whole set?  Is that based on the value of the metals?

Beautiful set of coins, though.  I wish I was around when these were being minted.

I got the Newcastle game as an EXACT score & just got a CLOSE with a draw in the Manc Derby. Hoping to net some points in the late kick off now, I’ve gone with a risky draw (Everton vs Chelsea).

Your prediction was closer than mine.  I thought I was going safe picking City and Chelsea, and flopped both.  Last weekend I completely forgot to update my picks, and dropped 13 positions, so now I'll be playing catchup the rest of the season.  It doesn't look like I'll get much help this weekend.
2649  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: December 12, 2020, 07:19:59 PM
Immediately I like the following for Sunday, but I'm gonna think a bit deeper about it before placing a bet.

Cleveland +2.5
I'm tempted call ML for Cleveland on this one, quite tempted.

Washington +3
I won't touch this, too much emotional involvement.  I want the 9ers to win, but maybe I'm being a cynic for thinking Washington has a great chance...

Miami +7
Tennessee -7
Both of these are too risky for me.  KC can run up the score on anyone.  They had a tough time last week, but that was against a division rival, a team very familiar with their schemes.  And, Miami has been too unpredictable.

Tennessee has been averaging +4 per game, and while the Jaguars have been averaging -12.5 I still find this too risky for relatively low gain.

Here's my chickenshit, low-risk parley for the weekend, but I haven't submitted the bet yet.  I might add some more handicaps to boost the odds, but I'll wait until tomorrow morning's injury reports.

KC (ML) over Miami
Green Bay (ML) over Detroit
New Orleans (-6.5) over Philadelphia

Have I mentioned how much I hate Cam?

He has single handedly made me hate football this year.

Cam is overrated thrash.

I've never been a fan of Cam Newton either, but I must admit I've been rooting for him lately.  Maybe it's because he's in a uniform I've become accustomed to rooting for, or because he's actually showing some humility on Belichick's team.

And I got 4mBTC free bet from the Clubhouse rank up.
Lost the free bet 😂
same here...

Lol, easy come, easy go.  I hope you two at least had some fun.

What tier to have to get to to get a free bet?
2651  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum-4.0.7 on: December 12, 2020, 05:44:35 PM
It does take a bit of trust to be among the first to install a new release, but you can also verify for yourself that the download is safe.

First and foremost, you should learn how to verify the download using ThomasV's PGP signature.  This will ensure that you've downloaded the official version signed by the developer.  Even if Electrum's website gets hacked, and the download link is directed to a malicious version, this will mitigate your risks.  Here's a tutorial I wrote: [GUIDE] How to Safely Download and Verify Electrum [Guide].

If you still don't trust the binary releases, you can always take some time to verify the code hasn't been manipulated with nefarious intent.  If you go the Electrum repository, you can browse through the changes made in real time.  You can confirm for yourself that only the changes published in the release notes are implemented into the code.

And if you're still doubtful about the binary releases, you can even run electrum right from the source code.  It's fairly easy if you're running Linux and have all the python dependencies installed (which you probably do if it's a recently released OS.)

Ok, I'm not much of a fan of the ad broadcasts that have a few minutes of football here and there,

If you condense a three-hour broadcast to eliminate the commercials it's about 1:15 minutes.  If you further eliminate all footage between downs, and condense to two seconds before the snap to two seconds after the whistle (coach's film,) you'll end up with about 40 minutes worth of football.

no emotional attachment.

BWAHAHAHAH!  Ok, I won't mention any kitties.  >sadly remembering I cried myself to sleep last night.

I would have never thought that I would be able to say the words "PO" and "Giants" in one sentence without embarrassing myself

I don't know why you would be embarrassed, but somebody should be.  5 and 7, yet still in first place in the division?  Yeah, they have improved a lot, and I must admit the game against Seattle was not one I counted for them.  But, the Giants have a long history of screwing with the NFC west, it goes way back.

I think Ravens will win by less than 20 points. No particular reasoning other than Cowboys being last in the league in rush D and only marginally better in pass D, and Ravens should be in somewhat better shape than they were last week but still have a few top players out.

I don't see Ravens getting to playoffs. They'll lose to Giants or Browns (LOL what a year to be alive to be able to say that and not sound completely dumb).

For someone who claims to not be much of a football fan...  I guess that's what being a wizard with data will do to you.
2654  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: December 08, 2020, 01:54:53 AM
I just don't see what everyone else sees in this being the game that the redskins bust out a signature win.

One of the best defenses in the league, and the return of the Game Manager.

Alex Smith is 3-0 since returning.  I always had a lot admiration for Alex Smith.  He's obviously an incredible athlete, but unfortunately his career was doomed when Mike Nolan drafted him.  I hope he gets the chance to play in a championship game some day.  Mike Nolan on the other hand, I'll never forgive him for the dysfunctional cluster fuck he made of the 9ers.

Speaking of which, crazy start to this one with the Bills.

Jets losing to that Hail Mary in the very last second

That one really bugged me.  I put a small wager on the Jets in the early 4th, and was counting my winnings with less than two minutes left.  All they needed was one first down, just ONE FIRST DOWN!  Ugh!

The Chiefs game really surprised me, I really didn't expect the Denver defense to make Patrick Mahomes' life so difficult.

Did it get moved from today to Monday or what happened? Whatever happened explains why I couldn't find the odds last night. It's up there now though: line looks to be about Steelers -6.5. The Washington ML for this game is ~3.45x, which I think would make for an exciting bet. This is one upset I'd like to see happen: the team without a name defeats the only undefeated team.

The way they've been playing recently it's bound to happen sooner rather than later. I'm not much of a football fan but there was nothing else to watch last Wednesday when Steelers barely beat Ravens B-team... they would have lost against any team with an actual quarterback.

OTOH it was like 5th undeserved win they got this season so what do I know.

The Washington game is Monday.

I like Washington in this game, I'm actually surprised to find the odds so high against them.  Their defense is stout, and now they finally have a real quarterback.  And like you said, the Steelers looked off last week.  I believe the Steelers have been skating by on an easy schedule.  This year's NFC adversaries are the East, and the south for the AFC.  Not the toughest divisions.  The only team with a winning record they've beaten by more than 7 points was Cleveland in week 6.

That being said, +81, +86 or +87 really doesn't matter much.

I agree that going form a trust score of +81 to +87 doesn't seem like a huge difference, and it's unlikely sway the decision of someone looking to do business with OGN, but your statement begs the question:  At what point does it matter?  If adding +6 to your trust score through manipulation of the trust system doubles your trust score, would it matter then?  What if it added 50%, or just 10%?
2659  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: (Worldwide) scammed me for 0.51873796 BTC on: December 06, 2020, 05:50:30 PM

Thanks  ... the idiot even created a fake flag on me for some random other alleged scam thread. Interesting part is immediately after he did that 2 other tagged scammers jumped in and supported it.  There would be no way those 2 even knew it existed UNLESS he dropped his pants and exposed his smelly ALTS.   I don't give a fuck about it as it just gets lost among all the others Cheesy but it does add a couple more connections to watch.

I noticed that and opposed the flag, a type 2 no less.

What's the punishment for creating a flag that has no merit?  Oh, there isn't one?  Hmmm, maybe it's about time to hold flag abusers accountable.

DireWolfM14 figured it out in ~20 minutes:

Hey now...  I might be slow, but not THAT slow!  I figured it out in less than 20 seconds, and took a few minutes to compile that post...  <j/k I know what you meant>

I also think that any lemming who would exclude me for adding users to my trust network should maybe give an example of a user that doesn't deserve to be included in my trust network...

I almost excluded you when I learned you used Theymos' bitcoin to earn yourself a hefty load of airdrops...  that you didn't share with theymos.  Not only did you not share, you didn't even tell theymos you used his money to earn some for yourself.  I still haven't made up my mind whether your club is a Ponzi or not, so I'm not taking that into account.  This particular use of the trust system, however does demonstrate that you can be prone to shady behavior.  I came to those conclusions on my own, spontaneously, without encouragement from anyone.

When I have an issue with the way people behave around here, I call them out on it, using their name.  Cowardly calling me a lemming isn't the right way to change my mind, if anything it only adds to the evidence that I made the right decision.

And, if you would like to challenge my ability to think for myself, lets get it on.  Don't worry, you wouldn't be the first one to fail.
