NFL experts, how big is the possbility that the 49ers only played a very bad game versus Greenbay because of the bad weather conditions? The weather in Los Angeles will certainly be much better hehe.

Also, how depleted of energy and depleted emotionally are the Chiefs after their game versus the Bills which also went to overtime?

All the local media is talking about is how Kyle Shanahan is in Sean McVay's head, and the Niners have taken the last six matches...  I hope they aren't jinxing it.  But if you want to put things into perspective, the Niners have been dealing with health issues all season.  The offense may have looked bad at times during the last two games, and it's worth noting that Garoppolo broke his thumb just a few weeks ago, and hopefully that's less of an issue than it was last week.  They did have an extra day to prepare, so there's no excuses.  The offense needs to bring it's best game.

But the real point in favor of the 9ers is our defense has never had issues stopping the Rams running game.  That's where the Niners will win the ability to control the game.  If they can stop the run, and keep Stafford honest, the offense won't need to score much, and just run conservative plays while running time off the clock.  Simple, old-fashioned smash-mouth football.

Go NINERS!

The news broke earlier today; Tom Brady is retiring:

Broncos, Raiders, Giants, and Bears, (and Saints) come to mind, but I might be forgetting some.

Jaguars, Texans, Dolphins, Vikings...

Nine teams looking for a head coach this year, over 28% of the league...  doesn't that seems like a lot?

I don't think Rodgers will bother facing those teams twice a year, NFC has a much comfier/easier path to the playoffs.

So... to the Giants then? That's an easy division to win.  Cool

Lol.  I wouldn't be surprised to see Rodgers stay put.  It will probably depend on with whether the Packers are able to retain Adams and Cobb, and Aaron Jones...  Which seems unlikely but I imagine they'll do all they can to keep the core group intact.  If his goal is to be on a team that has a decent chance at a championship, the Packers are certainly that.  Of course their salary cap woes could change that in a heartbeat.

If Rodgers does leave the Packers, I would bet on him landing in Pittsburg.  He and Tomlin already have a good relationship, the Steelers are in need of a QB, and it's a division they could easily win with Rodgers under center (and a few upgrades on defense.)

I however can’t believe the Niners one. They are just so overrated imo, but they came out to play and beat the mighty Rodgers. (He should be embarrassed).

I was surprised that the Niners won, also, but it would probably be more accurate to say that the Packers lost.  I don't know that they're over-rated, they've been the underdog in both playoff matches and won them both.  Maybe they're under-rated?  I am glad that the Rams knocked out the Bucs, because I really don't think the Niners had a chance against Tampa.  But they've beaten the Rams 6 times in a row, and that makes me think they do have a chance at making it to the super bowl.

Well I will start out and say I really don't think this will happen but a man can dream.  Sean Payton with 3 years left on his contract with the saints just announced he is stepping down from coaching the saints.  Giants just so happen to have a coaching job open.  Payton was qb coach and the OC years ago....please GIANTS make it happen.  Give the saints what they want to release him and offer Payton the keys.  I mean, if it takes money I got 5 on it.

That would actually be pretty cool, but yeah; a snowball's chances in hell might offer better odds.

Teams looking for a head coach: Broncos, Raiders, Giants, and Bears, (and Saints) come to mind, but I might be forgetting some.  If the Saints do release Payton from his contract I doubt they'll do so for another NFC team.

Yeah, I'm sure you're right.  I thought I'd ask here because of the knowledge here, and I trust you guys.

Not likely I'll get anything valuable from this topic now that it's in the "Off Topic" board, so I'm locking this.

If I can convince one friend to go with me I might do it, but I haven't decided yet.

Go to the game, we'll worth every penny...if they win!  Honestly 2 years from now you won't miss the $500 but you never know when you will have a chance for this again.  Especially with a division foe.  Closest to the SB without paying SB prices.  And yes they have their work cut out for them with the Rams.  Debo better be ready.

Yeah, I want to go, but everybody is afraid of Covid.  I called my brother, former father-in-law, and three buddies...  They all just invited themselves to watch the game at my house instead.  Undecided

That was a great weekend of football, and last night's game to cap it off was amazing just by itself.  I still can't believe that the Bill's secondary couldn't hold on for 13 seconds.  13 fucking seconds!  I'm really sorry to all the Bill's fans out there, they should have won that game.

Honestly my biggest surprise was the Packers losing to the Niners, I really didn't expect that but our defense was relentless.  It makes me think that we have a shot to see this through to a championship.

I was really glad that the Rams beat the Bucs, I didn't want the Niners to travel to the east coast next week.  A 1-hour flight to SoCal where we have more fans that the home team is much more preferable.

I looked up tickets this morning, and they want $550 for nose-blead seats.  Roll Eyes  If I can convince one friend to go with me I might do it, but I haven't decided yet.

With no dog in the fight I'm rooting for the underdogs and a San Fran Cindy superbowl lol.

It's like the 80's all over again, lol.  Cincinnati has been to two Super Bowls and lost both to San Francisco.  That would make for some awesome story lines and history lessons.  Cinci beat the Chiefs already this year, but I'm not sure if they can do so again this weekend.  I'll be rooting for them.  I wouldn't mind another shot at KC, though and since they would be the favorite this time around, we might actually win.  Regardless of which AFC team makes the cut, from an unbiased NFL fan's perspective I think it would be way more fun if they had to face the Niners.  Nothing against the Rams and I'm not just saying that because I'm a 9ers fan, but there's no history/rivalry between the Rams and either AFC team.

But first things first, have to get past the Rams.

GO NINERS!

I live in a region where the internet and it's affiliated technology was spawned and developed.  However, since I'm in a somewhat rural area I am unable to get anything better than 18Mbps ADSL from our local Baby Bell.  I have no other internet options other than satellite or 5G wireless.

DSL was pretty bad ass back in 2003 when I first got it, but there have been no upgrades to our infrastructure since then.  It really frustrates me because there's 1Gbps Fiber available in the surrounding towns, some with a smaller population than mine.  What's even more frustrating is that the Fiber network's hub is my town!  WTF, AT&T?

Regardless, I got fed up with DSL and signed up for SkyNet several months ago.  My satellite kit from Cyberdyne Systems finally arrived, and I got hooked up this past weekend.  I did my research and was under the impression that by bypassing the included hardware I would be able to access my servers remotely.  I have never had any experience with CGNAT before, but now I'm learning that is not the case.

Does anyone know of an open-source solution to expose my servers to the internet?  I don't want to use a third party like NGROC, but I'm not familiar enough with networking to know what is the best solution.  I don't mind paying for a VPS and using that to establish a VPN, but I'm again I have very little experience with that kind of set up and wouldn't know where to start.

I'm hoping someone more familiar with CGNAT restrictions can point me in the right direction.

TIA.

I imagine DireWolfM14 is consuming copious amounts of fancy alcohol right now.

You know me so well.

That was a crazy game though.  I don't know if there's ever been a blocked punt and a blocked field goal by the same team in the playoffs.  I've certainly never seen anything like it.  Our defense and special teams are fucking amazing!  GO NINERS!

ETA; I didn't want to admit it before, but I put money on hope. 😍

Took the Niners ML @ 2.9 AND WON!
was it rigged?

I'm going with Bengals, Packers, Rams, Bills, yeah Brady is probably going to screw up this bet but that's fine, no risk - no reward.

So, the one underdog team you're not picking is the 9ers.  I see how you are.  We've never lost a playoff game to the Packers in the Aaron Rodgers era, but I'm afraid you're not wrong this time.  I hope we both are.

I was actually surprised to see the Bengals as the underdog, so I stayed away from that one.  I should have jumped on it, because it looks like they're going to win.  Both defenses are playing great, but Cincinnati's offense looks like they're going to get it done.
1671  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: January 17, 2022, 02:39:15 AM
Niners must feel really lucky to find out that Prescott doesn't know how long "14 seconds" is.

First upset (kinda sorta) of the playoffs, beating a higher seed.

That was an ugly win, but I'll take it.  We started out pretty good, but for some reason our offense starts looking pedestrian late in games.  Off to Green Bay next week, hopefully Bosa is ready for Rodgers.

GO NINERS!

You thought last night's game was a blow-out, the Eagles are getting shut-out.
1673  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: January 16, 2022, 04:52:32 PM
@bbc.reporter  be careful with Garoppolo's total passing yards, i wouldn't trust him with much today, especially not against that Dallas pass-rushing defense. Micah Parsons has been outstanding all season. I believe he is ranked second or third in pass-rush win rate, and besides the Niners would want to stay committed to the run game as much as possible.

I was just about to reply to bbc.reporter and say essentially the same thing.  I think 250 yards for Jimmy G is a bit ambitious.  The Niners will have to ground and pound to win this game, no believes Garoppolo's arm is going to do it for us.

For the same reasons, I think Kyler Murry over 255 passing yards is also ambitious.

Am i crazy to think that the Eagles have a shot today? Bucs haven't looked the same since Fournette went down and today they will be without RoJo, so no run game whatsoever...it's basically M. Evans and Gronk with expected wind gusts in Tampa up to 40 mph. Eagles have the best rushing offense in the league...i'm just saying.  Roll Eyes

Imagine if the second team all Patriots fans support goes down within 24hrs!? Cheesy

No you're not crazy, the Bucs aren't the same team they were last week.  I think the Eagles have a legitimate chance, which makes them a huge bargain on the market right now.

Do you have the 12 word seed phrase?  You should have written it down when you created your wallet, and should have hidden it someplace safe.  If you have the seed phrase you can restore the wallet and disable 2FA.

But Mixon didn't score so it's kinda moot for you anyway.

Oh, so close.

  • Player stats - D. Carr 1+ Pass interceptions (Game)
  • Game event - 1+ Fumbles lost (Game)
  • Total points - Over 43.5 (Game)
  • Player stats - D. Carr over 249.5 Passing yds (Game)
  • Player stats - J. Burrow 2+ Passing TDs thrown (Game)
  • Player TDs - J. Mixon Score anytime (Game) X
  • Money line - Bengals (Game)
Odds 11.70

If you can't hammer it in
with Joe Mixon
your offensive line
needs some fixin'

I'll be here all week.   Cool

Yet another interception for the rooky.  It's getting ugly for the Pats.  I included the Pats on my weekend-multi with them @ +4.5, so I'm gonna be 0/2 on bets today.   Angry
1676  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: January 15, 2022, 11:21:31 PM
Doesn't look like Derek Carr is going to help me out with the passing yards though.

You are almost halfway with Carr's passing yards, boy did the Raiders needed that last-min TD to stay in the game. Huge throw by Carr and a nice catch by Jones.

J. Mixon Score anytime could be problematic for your parlay, Bengals stopped twice in the Redzone, good luck though.

Raiders are lucky to be just one score down with all the penalties and silly mistakes up to the final drive of the 2nd Q.

Yeah, that TD pass padded his stats.  I almost took the under, but I figured he'll be playing catchup all day.  Last time he played the Bengals he threw for about 216 IIRC.  I figured he'd be good for a few more in a playoff game.  Which is why I figured he's good for one interception as well.

Burrow's longest completion 35+ yards, and Bengals to win

Chase 28, Uzomah 29  Cry Grin

Still another half to go, so plenty of time.  They've got the ball first, and so far they're playing the clock.  That'll set up a big downfield play sooner or later.
1677  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: January 15, 2022, 10:48:02 PM
Snacks and beer have been secured for the super wild card weekend. Cheers, Joe Judge.  Grin

Lol, good for him.  No use crying over spilled milk.

Anyways, i don't see the Raiders making it past this round despite the fact that there are a lot of bets coming their way to cover the 6/6.5 half-points. I don't want to get involved with spreads, which is why i have Burrow's longest completion 35+ yards, and Bengals to win @2.23, i could also see Higgins having a big game with a TD and some big yard plays.

Those are good picks, sounds like a safe bet as longs as Chase is on the field.  I took a different approach and threw caution to the wind:

  • Player stats - D. Carr 1+ Pass interceptions (Game)
  • Game event - 1+ Fumbles lost (Game)
  • Total points - Over 43.5 (Game)
  • Player stats - D. Carr over 249.5 Passing yds (Game)
  • Player stats - J. Burrow 2+ Passing TDs thrown (Game)
  • Player TDs - J. Mixon Score anytime (Game)
  • Money line - Bengals (Game)
Odds 11.70

Doesn't look like Derek Carr is going to help me out with the passing yards though.

Good luck Smiley

Hey there, good to see you around.  Happy new year.

Those are pretty darn good picks and actually reflect my pre-planning for the 49ers potential opponents, lol.  Based on your picks next weekend would look like this, with my picks in bold:

AFC: (as if I care)
Cincinnati @ Kansas City: Revenge of the Chiefs.
New England @ Tennessee: The Jedi master spanks the padawan once again.

NFC:
San Francisco @ Green Bay: My heart wants just one thing that my brain refuses to grant; hope.
Los Angeles @ Tampa Bay: Stafford loves to end games with interceptions.

Although, if by some miracle the Niners move past the Cowboys and the Packers, the road to the super bowl is going through Tampa Bay.

49ers vs Cowboys - This is a tougher one but I'll take the Cowboys.  They are inconsistent as hell, but that offense is very high powered.  The Niners are overrated in my opinion.   Spread is Dallas -3, I think they cover.

I tend to agree with you that the Niners are being overly hyped in the media at the moment, but I think the Cowboys offense is also overrated.  To be honest, I'm 50/50 on this game.  My prediction is that the Niners defense will shutdown the run, forcing them to rely on Prescott's arm.  Our front 7 should be able to pressure Prescott into a few costly mistakes that will help our offense stay in the game.

What better way to end a post than with some hope?
1679  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: January 13, 2022, 02:45:08 AM
That game last night was the best finish to a season I've ever seen.  The amount of 4th and longs that the Chargers completed to tie the game up and in overtime! Lol.  I mean a 4th and 21 with 2 seconds to go in the game and they hit that.  Only to have their coach swipe the game from them.  I don't care what anyone says the Raiders were going to lay it down and kneel saying they didn't want to risk a long field goal.  Once they got the first down after the timeout it was a wrap.  Just glad I'm not a charger fan right now.  (Being a giant fan my hopium wore off in October 😀
I agree, it was bizarre the head coach called a time out there, it was completely unnecessary for the Raiders to try to get the first down or to kick a long field goal, but now some are defending the decision saying the Raiders would have gone for it anyway in an attempt to avoid the Chiefs.

No way the Raiders were going to take a knee, and that's why Staley took that time out.  He waited until he saw the offensive formation on that 3rd and 4 play.  Carr was in the shotgun formation with Jacobs on his right, two wide outs and Renfrow in motion.  Another thing I'm certain of (and Staley probably was too) is that they weren't gonna throw it, 99% that was going to be a run play and the defense wasn't set for a run play.  If nothing else, he took that time out to get his defense in the mindset for a run.

For the Raiders it was a no-brainer; they had the ball and they needed that first down to remain in control.

Would anyone care to take a guess what the win / loss results will be?

Anything can happen on any given Sunday, and your guess is as good as mine.  I will likely put a small wager on each of the two biggest underdogs (Eagles and Steelers) just for fun.  I don't think either will actually win, but the Eagles have a history of beating Brady with quarterbacks we don't remember, and the Steelers want to punish their geriatric quarterback who just wants to retire in peace.  So you never know.
