2681  Economy / Speculation / Re: Did you sell off during the 21k price breach. on: January 17, 2023, 02:40:17 PM
We will have the catalyst for a crazy bull run next year, so it's better to prepare ourselves today and not just sell our precious bitcoin because someone is willing to scope that at a cheap price we are selling at $21k.

Catalyst yes. Halving will still be dependable for at least the next two milestones, but are we really still banking on crazy bull runs? The last one was (relative to the previous ones) pretty underwhelming and if we expect the ATH-to-ATH percentage to continue in its trend, then we're not even going to see 200% growth from last ATH. That's... as crazy as I'm expecting.
2682  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Poll: What percent of your portfolio is stored in Bitcoin/Crypto on: January 17, 2023, 12:59:58 PM
It's all Bitcoin, been that for at least just the year running up to ATH. Did some spring cleaning after 2017 ATH and was left with a handful of alts, ETH and even Doge and whatever else I wasted my life and time on. Liquidated everything I didn't want to keep or simply chucked out wallets (to my chagrin at least one proved to be of value later).

Fast forward to personal emergency circa 2020/21 and I had to really let go of a lot. That's when everything not Bitcoin went first.

Still have very little of multiple coins in my Ethereum wallet of course, but it's just for transactions and what not because most services I use tend to throw me a mix of this and that.

2683  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Sportsbet.io ⚽ Italian Serie A ⚽ Football Pool Discussion Thread 2022/2023 on: January 17, 2023, 10:49:21 AM
same here, I was hedging Napoli (that I would like to win the title) with Juventus to win, and draw in the pool, so any outcome gives some good news Smiley

although, I am following more Serie B, where Cagliari is trying to catch that play-off spot, being down below some giants like Ternana and Sudtirol, but three wins from last four matches brought good vibe

Last season I spent some money on Segunda, never really tried Serie B, this season I haven't even found the time to really look at the main leagues -- definitely less Serie A awareness than last season or even 2 seasons ago. After promoted teams performance this season, might be interesting to keep an eye on the potential promotion teams too.

Napoli looked in such good shape I went ahead and added their next 2 games into my tickets, one tonight in Coppa and one in Serie A later.

Disclaimer is the odds are not good (tonight for example is home favorite against Cremonese) so I might be following bad instinct to use such games as multibet "top up" but I think this team is going to be like Arsenal, mostly dependable in small and big games.

Napoli? Without Osimhen, they're still able to win. With him, they're lethal af. Normally agree you shouldn't be using those small odds but I do that a lot with Liverpool to "boost" my accas so I get what you mean. Arsenal, Napoli, currently on hot streaks but I think their rides will be bumpy. Some teams aren't used to holding on to a lead. Both these teams I feel are those.
2684  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Discord Nitro with Bitcoin on: January 17, 2023, 08:53:20 AM
^ Oh man... thank you. Can't believe I actually forgot about checking Coingate till I came across this thread, I actually really hate paying for Discord but got a couple of requests before to buy upgrades on behalf of clients and hated that I couldn't easily buy it.

Only slight problem is their classic price has a high markup (3 vs 5.23 euros!) so you might want to shop around for Classic. Regular Nitro's great though -- just slightly marked up by about 1.5%.
2685  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: January 17, 2023, 06:52:03 AM
Actually woke up a bit early to see what I could catch and already see the heat in AO (I'm reading 30 degrees and wondering, wait, that's not that hot haha but I don't know Aussie heat!) has some havoc. Thiem bit the dust, while in women's local girl wildcard has knocked out Kanepi.

Murray and Berrettini were just fighting it out for breaker on 4th set now, was hoping the Brit would take this but this is now going all the way.
2686  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Sportsbet.io ⚽ Italian Serie A ⚽ Football Pool Discussion Thread 2022/2023 on: January 16, 2023, 05:38:22 PM
Atalanta gave us a whiff of their high-scoring season didn't they? And put down Salernitana quite badly to remind them of their place. No one in the pool got a point from Spezia, and only PL Guru smiled with Milan meltdown (but paid heavily with other upsets).

Old Lady comeback put on hold (and we still haven't heard developments from the December investigations) so I guess we can expect a lot of topsy-turvy moments for them this season. Silly me for backing them to win (though I did bet on Napoli).

2687  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Sportsbet.io ⚽ Spanish La Liga ⚽ Football Pool Discussion Thread 2022/2023 on: January 16, 2023, 03:28:38 PM
Shame on you slaman, haha. I did a small ML on Barca, because they always seem extra motivated against Real under Xavi so I booked quite a tidy sum at almost 23/10. Absolutely no complaints from me, and from the match reports, seems like Real were just horrible. Of course, I expect them to improve by the time they come see us at Anfield... currently they are ranked favourites in that game a month away and that suits me.

In other pool news, Saint-loup has extended his lead...
2688  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Nexo - "Earn 8% dividend a year with no risks" on: January 16, 2023, 02:21:47 PM
An annual (summary) update for NEXO, and to keep abreast of events.

I decided to end my NEXO adventure this week, based partially on recent events, but also as I tire of their Proof of Assets and other verification requirements they ask for annually, and well, I just want to pull back all of my assets, no matter how small. Was an interesting ride for my stablecoins and NEXO, interest earned over lifetime was not bad. Converted everything to BTC and have the coins on my wallet now.

2022/23 summary:
  • Interest surprisingly did not change at all the whole year, despite the market falling badly. Their 2022 adjustments were well read.
  • They ran into trouble in the US despite buying a controlling stake in a bank there. By September, at least 8 US state regulators had sued NEXO and by December, they pulled out of US.
  • Last week, their HQs in Sofia were raided by Bulgarian police. LinkedIn messages from staff say everything is ok but of course they would. Mini bank run also happened right after that, but they appear to have weathered the storm (so far). The charges are worrying though, so I'd say time to unburden some risk if you're using NEXO.

I guess I won't be updating this thread next year. Let's see =)

2690  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Proof of stake is bad and why bitcoin is the only crypto I would trust on: January 16, 2023, 12:34:14 PM
I can't remember the original argument I'd ever heard but it went along the lines of "what's to stake if there really isn't anything to stake?" and that hit home for me. When you behave badly on Bitcoin, or you want to continue mining on a fork (accidental or deliberate) you risk everything from a financial perspective. It simply costs too much to mine on a fork, you'll always want to mine on the winning chain.

PoS? You can mine on 100 forks, it costs you nothing. Nothing is at stake.
2691  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: One of the largest US colleges to teach students about bitcoin on: January 16, 2023, 10:32:45 AM
At least credit the original source of story (CT)Wink

Always good to hear about Bitcoin entering curriculum, doesn't matter the school or type of education. This one does appear to actually be an entire module on programming Bitcoin though (building library from scratch) so I see it as a breath of fresh air -- not that I don't think any of the other Bitcoin education focusing on financial aspects are bad. Be nice to get a steady stream of new nodes from grads like these.
2692  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: January 16, 2023, 09:58:51 AM
Sinner really started the AO fantastically - Edmund is a decent player and he managed to get only 6 games.
Based on the result alone, Nadal looked comfortable as well.

The biggest disappointment so far is (again) Borna Čorić, losing in straight sets against Jiri Lehečka.

Kyrgios withdrew from the tournament due to injury - which is a shame. I had him as one of the favorites.

Nadal looked very comfortable indeed, but yeah, I think I remember reading Trofo saying about Nick's chances and I don't think we're alone in thinking he could go far, but knee injury means he's out. Big shame really, crowd favourite and he brings a lot to the entertainment factor.

Two epics going on now. Fucsovics looks like he'll make it but Wawrinka seems set to be another bad AO outing.
2693  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: EFL English Championship League 2022/2023 on: January 15, 2023, 10:38:59 PM
I lost my bet thanks to Blackburn embarrassing 4:0 defeat against Rotherham Sad
On same ticket I had Burnley to win against Coventry, so I had 50% success with my predictions for today matches.
I wish that I played on Sheffield instead but I can't see the future yet, but Sheffield and Burnley really stands out in form currently.

Standout indeed.

Same boat then. At this rate, all Blades and Clarets need to do is just win 6 more games and they'll probably guarantee promotion for the both of themselves -- Watford and everyone else below them has a rate of fewer than 1.5 points per game, at that rate, the top 2 positions will be decided with more than 10 games left.
2694  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I now accept bitcoin payments in my Beauty shop on: January 15, 2023, 08:27:08 PM
Hey satoprincess. I can't believe it's been a year since I remember you and the Christmas food drive (did you do one last Christmas?). And now for your beauty salon. How I wish there would have been Bitcoin in South Sudan when I was last there... paying with SSP was terrible as it kept getting more and more expensive by the day to pay for something, I think I remember giving a huge wad of cash for a haircut!

Here's an idea: prepaid bookings only possible with Bitcoin Wink Buy 20 treatments for the price of 15, at a locked in price. That's really handy for a place with high inflation (and doesn't hurt you since you get BTC).
Yes it’s been a year, time flies. We didn’t do one last Christmas, we are planning something different that’s specific to helping school children with their education. Fantastic idea I love it. It’s always rush hour, my clients like noon appointments and we always seem to have our hands full literally. I really love the prepaid bookings idea. One of my clients came to the shop with  her girlfriend who is a p2p trader today. To cut the long story short, I have a new client who is willing to pay in bitcoins and has promised to introduce her circle as well.

Yeah, I did that whenever I travelled/worked in countries with hyperinflation long term (and I actually kinda did a few heh). It's not like I even really need the service a lot but it's nice to support local economies especially when you're embedded there for a while, kinda builds trust too.

Great news on new clientele. Keep this thread updated (how many payments would be nice) to show people it's worth the trouble.
2695  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: January 15, 2023, 07:25:55 PM
Are you seeing the weekend of Hammpuz? its like the summon of skill + luck, 100k win bet and..... no incorrect result in the pool. A little be jeaolus of that 100k not gonna lie Tongue . I send to you my wallet adress via PM XD . Congrats man and enjoy it.

Not gonna lie. Not envious but doubly mad at myself. I had the very same picks in an acca, except for Citeh instead of United. Ordinarily I'd be extra extra mad at myself as United's leveler shouldn't have stood but my other pick in there was actually Liverpool and I can't complain for being dumb there.

Did you guys see a "missed" penalty from Mitrović? I have put missed in quotation marks since he actually scored it and it was overruled. You don't see that every day but he slipped and managed to hit himself in his other foot and still scored  Grin Newcastle won today but they weren't that good and Fulham could have taken a point or even all three today.

Arsenal was great in first half but Spurs started the second much better. We could see some more goals here, Tottenham is famous for late come backs this season. I am writing this in min 75. and it is still 2:0 for Arsenal, need at least one goal for Spurs for my both to score to pass.

Only caught final 15 minutes or so of Toons. Saw Almiron get subbed off and I thought it was for sure going to end scoreless and then well, that guy haha. Need to try find that highlight reel tomorrow as missed plenty of drama. How do you accidentally score and get overruled though? edit: now I understand, touched ball twice.
2696  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🚀-Sportsbet.io-🚀 - Main sponsor of Southampton FC 👋👋 on: January 15, 2023, 06:45:34 PM
@Hhampuz coming in with a belated well done but you know, you deserve it when you put something up like that on THOSE kinds of odds!

Not to be a wildcat but the only way I could have improved that was to top it off with an Arsenal win (guess the guys at Sportsbet must also be celebrating every Gunners win now).

So we've got a 1000/a winner and a massive Bitcoin punter here at Sportsbet. Smashing!
2697  Economy / Speculation / Re: What happen to Bitcoin price? "Over $5 Billion' in Assets Recovered (FTX)" on: January 15, 2023, 05:29:16 PM
Whether the customers will get their funds back is another question however. So far the guy handling the bankruptcy is working pretty hard at finding all the missing money. However could be years before the creditors get it back.

Always the richest, most important ones first, like any other insolvency claim, before democratising the losses among the retail majority.

You want to make the big wallets whole first so they can reinvest in you when you put out other ventures (be on the lookout for FTX-shadowed projects launching this year and next).
2698  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Hash Ribbon Buy Alert on: January 15, 2023, 04:10:27 PM
Just noticed this today as well. Unsurprising given price is now back above estimated mining costs as hash rate consolidates at it's highs. It's a good sign nonetheless.

Also forgot that last year the hash rate recovery never signalled a buy, as price never closed above the recovery price of $21.5K. This time there is clearly positive price action to back up such network growth.

End of the week arrives today, so looks like this will be confirmed. Just another piece of the puzzle for a trend reversal by looks of it. Same signal currently flashing on Monthly time-frame as well I see.

Yeah, these (I call them, perhaps erroneously, fundamentals) are what always makes my juices flow much more than any market updates (FTX asset recovery for example) which I always feel have only temporary impact.

What completely missed my radar was the absence of buy signals from hash rate recovery, which says a lot about using this indicator.

If so, though, are we then pulling back when the indicator suggests a reversal?

If anyone actually picked Solly March against Liverpool in this week's MajSev, kindly screenshot here and I'll tip you some BTC to your FJ account. First response only, Full Member pls.

Grin Grin I believe no one from this forum picked Solly March, most people should have picked Salah or other Liverpool's strikers. Even if some people predicted that Brighton will win, I believe these people would not pick Solly March.

Well, seeing as the winner of the prize in season past actually picked Brentford unknown (at the time, anyway), and that Brighton were actually only very very slight underdogs, you never know. My offer still stands for whomever had the balls or the lunacy (they're the same thing aren't they?).

What are the chances that Vincent might find it hard too in the Premier League a few months down the road  Grin
If he makes that switch from Burnley to Leicester. It might be harder than if ended up in the Premier League with Burney, since he now probably has some chemistry with his current squad.

Leicester didn't spend that much in the transfer period, so they were bound to be f##ked especially with Rodgers as the main man

I'd say a lot? I liked when it happened, even though he's a City guy, I generally feel pretty good about great players taking managerial roles (supported Rooney the whole time he battled with Derby, even Lamps and Arteta now for rival teams).

But most of them need to cut their teeth for a long time before managing a big team (I say big in the sense Leicester City's actually won the Premiership).
2700  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: January 15, 2023, 02:36:52 PM
Guys, he is 1.77 to win outright - are they not good odds before the tournament even
kicks off?

That's the whole point... you don't even get your stake back as winnings IF he wins the final. Why not go for him now at handicap or live bet after going a set or two down. Martingale that way if you want, you'll end up with more money if you do that every round till the final.

One slip and you lose everything, just not worth it (to me).

It's a first round draw, Nadal v Draper - Nadal is a bit of an unknown going into this, he is seeded
#1. The odds ATM aren't overwhelmingly with Nadal

1.35 v 3.2 - anyone else see a possible upset?

Yeah, I didn't get the seeding either, but have to say I'm not really following tennis. It all happened after Alcarez dropped out and Nadal was piping hot on bookies.

3.2 for an upset isn't that great =p
