I'll have to watch the video in about 2 hours, could you briefly state the important topic?

I'll have to look into the Canada deposits being unsecured. It sounds like the central banks are getting ready to steal everyone's fiat wealth..... are we ready?

IIRC searching around mid May 2013  will lead to the articles you seek.  I remember it being very low key, ignored by one and all.  My friends in the financial fields passed it off like it was of no importance, and didn't get my outrage (Nothing new, being a perpetual 'outsider').  Normalcy bias.  It Will Bite.

Just sold 800 BTC on Bitfinex.

Excellent!

Should have quite the chilling effect.

Speaking of chill, am I the only one that thinks it would be nice to just take a step back and relax at 420 range for a while?

Doesn't have to be 420, creeping up to 5-600 would be positive, but I would prefer it doesn't go too fast.  I'm not ready to leave yet  Cheesy

And shorted at 381!!!

Sorry for your loss.  Playing with fire is so much FUN though!

I know, but if you live off the state, you become anxious if the state's income is threatened. The same goes for all kinds of government jobs. It is not corruption. It is a delusion, because they would all be better off with a small government or no government. I don't expect everybody to agree with that without a discussionbludgeon.

FTFY.  People will ferociously back their meal ticket, sustainable or not.

Why bother bag holding AM when we can hold ASMHash which pays dividends on the equipment we paid for as shareholders?

For the exact same reasons we don't sell all our shares and purchase mining hardware.

Yeah, .07 not such an attractive selling point  Undecided

I wonder how much of a stretch it would be for the Swiss to achieve 20% gold holdings.  Do I recall correctly that they have ~7% at this time? If they just bide their time, it will probably come about organically, as gold goes up and the worthless paper becomes more... Worthless.

Meanwhile,  gold drops to 1175  Grin

Back to the gold topic.

There is a referendum in Switzerland, in November, which is likely to secure a yes vote that the SNB holds 20% of its assets in gold (currently at 7.6%). As soon as this passes the bank will have five years to reach the 20% target. There is no legal escape for it. Considering that the SNB balance sheet has recently blown out Fed/BoE/BoJ-style - it will have to buy up to 1,700 tons of gold in the open market - and take delivery!

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2014-10-28/things-make-you-go-hmmm-swiss-gold-status-quo-showdown

I really think this will put a floor under the current gold price, and maybe even spark another medium-term rally.

I'm very interested to see what spin and hype will be deployed toward a NO vote.  Or just plan old vote rigging. A YES vote would send a shockwave. ..

Canada listened to Andreas and made me almost believe in elected representation.
NY didn't.
Except those guys were not elected... Appointed lifetime trough swillers.
face it canadians are just cooler poeple.
Except that Canada has no 2nd amendment protections.  No legal firearms  to defend against tyranny and criminals, only guns for the criminals and in govt.

Wow, are we witnessing the birth of another Off Topic Unending Debate?  Grin
Haven't seen any debating yet.  Just a listing of facts, so far.

2716  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is there a difference of opinions at Bitcoin Foundation regarding XBT proposal? on: October 22, 2014, 01:20:35 AM

Non-mathematicians have difficulty picturing sums like 0.00014321 BTC, which would be 143.21 XBT if XBT=100 satoshi(s)
The transition would be even more seamless because people already started thinking in bits. If 1XBT=1bit=100 satoshi, it would all make sense.

I see your point, but agree with R2D221 and Jon Matonis. Don't know whether 'catastrophic' is the right word, but it would create too much confusion.

As per your example, from the small/medium business or even customer's perspective, you'll be more likely dealing with amounts ranging say between BTC0.01 to BTC100 rather than BTC0.00014321. A few examples:

BTC99.15 = XBT99150000
BTC1.456 = XBT1456000
BTC0.025 = XBT25000

To me, that doesn't look much better than 0.00014321, does it?

Why would it be a problem? right now yen is ~1:100 of the dollar, so I presume movie ticket cost 1000-2000 yen, so btc 0.025 ($10)=25000 XBT would be no problem.
people will just say "thou"-in your last example-25 thou or 25k bits
One issue is that people in Japan are used to spending these large amounts of units of currency while the vast majority of the rest of the world is not. I don't think spending this large of a unit of currency would ever catch on in much of the industrialized world.

Of course, this will change rapidly in the next few years as adoption/price rises, or it will be irrelevant because the experiment has stagnated/failed.

The problem is not scale, but terminology. XBT already has a defined meaning (= Bitcoin). You want to change the meaning of a symbol people already understand. You're going to have a bad time convincing them to arbitrarily switch the meaning rather than creating a new symbol.

.01% of people 'understand'  the current symbols.   Now is the time to change to something easier for the vast majority to understand - before they've even ever heard of bitcoin.

Im fed up with the lack of info too.
Yet im more and more convinced thats perfectly normal.
FC made a conf in august. Showed himself to the world and announced some sort of checkmate plan.. and then disapeared. Along with the boardmembers...

And this is where one should upload some submarine pics.

Lol I suppose this should be more on the speculation thread, but it has been months since any info...  that info was very promising though.  BE 300 will take us to the moon in the exa hash age. Or to the seafloor.  I am counting on moon, as I don't care for deep water Tongue

That proves you have no idea what is going on in the gold market right now.......

So you are very knowledgeable in precious metals ?
Fine.
Could you tell me if it is the right time to buy gold/silver or will it keep going down ?
Thanks.

That made me laugh.  But on a serious note:

Up or down, it is the right time to start if you do not hold any.  SUCH similarity to btc!
