Looks like Equifax will be buying 600 bitcoin soon. Alleged Equifax hackers demand $2.6 million Bitcoin ransom — or else..https://www.google.com/amp/mashable.com/2017/09/08/equifax-hackers-bitcoin-ransom.ampThat's according to an onion site, whose authors insist that if Equifax forks over 600 Bitcoin — approximately $2.66 million at the time of this writing — then they'll delete all the stolen data. Oh, and Equifax better decide quickly, because if the ransom isn't paid, the self-identified hackers say they'll dump all the data on September 15th.
Well, almost all of the data. The supposed hackers wrote that they won't publicly post credit card numbers—suggesting an intention to get some illicit use out of those.
"We are two people trying to solve our lives and those of our families," the site explains. "We did not expect to get as much information as we did, nor do we want to affect any citizen. But we need to monetize the information as soon as possible."
After all when you are dealing with a potential 70 billion dollar liability what's another 2.5 million to try and staunch some of the bleeding. Equifax hit with $70 billion class-action lawsuit after massive hack https://www.google.com/amp/mashable.com/2017/09/08/class-action-lawsuit-equifax-breach.ampBTC would not be among my first choices, but... whatever. These people are slime. Summarized here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHcGVOJXRzI

OK, it's getting depressive taking a bullish aspect. So now I am going to switch to bearish, again. So were can I participate in margin shorting BTC vs fiat, as an American? I would prefer an easy verification process.
You'll be in time to short the bottom. You know somebody's gotta do it. Good on ya Well, I'm still trying to research which exchange I can participate, as a US citizen, in Margin trading for BTC-USD pair. Kraken seems possible. But I'm so ambivalent, I'm not sure that I want to take the steps to register for yet another exchange. My Keepass is getting to full. Having a Myers-Brigg personality type of INTP can be so exasperating at times. It's a wonder that I can arrive at any decision. In my experience, Kraken is glitchy as fuck, and slow. Too frustrating to use, unless they've changed in the last 6 months or so.

Anyone gonna sue Equifax? I think it might be fun. Oh man I cannot stand how evil these fuckers are... so apparently now after this *hack* was revealed, IF you sign up for Equifax's "free" credit monitoring in the wake of the attack, after checking that your name/SSN is affected on their site, THE SMALL PRINT OF THEIR SIGNUP MAKES YOU WAIVE PARTICIPATION IN ANY CLASS ACTION AGAINST THEM ? ? ? Jesus-H, there should be a separate class-action for JUST THAT against them now too, damages on top of damages... FFS how low can these fuckers really SINK? HAha I especially like this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHcGVOJXRzI

Yes I see, thanks for honest answer.
I am trying to write an objective article about Monero vs Dash, and whereas I get good answers for Monero questions. I usually get hostility, namecalling, and troll posts in the Dash community.
I try to remain objective but I already see the level of maturity difference between the 2 communities.
Here's a comparison. Sure it's biased but I think the more important question is: "Is it accurate?" Fixed link

How is the new Monero fork gonna affect the network?
1. Better scale? 2. Better privacy? 3. Mining difficulty will remain the same? 4. Any other features?
See here: https://getmonero.org/2017/09/07/monero-0.11.0.0-released.htmlJust reading the list makes my head hurt. I realize that near 40 people were contributing, but, WOW! That's a work list!

Can I leave my xmr coins at bittrex? Or do I need to send'em to a wallet?
I guess that's your call. Do you trust them? If you're not trading with them, I would personally suggest taking them into your own hands (If you don't hold it, you don't own it). Would you recommend any tutorials on how to take out the coins from bittrex? I've never done it before!!! I don't use bittrex, so I won't comment on that side of it, but I infer from your post that you would be happier waiting for the GUI to create your own wallet. It's not that hard to use the CLI though (hell, I did it!) and plenty of tutorials available if you choose to act immediately. ADD this is probably the simplest to just create a storage wallet: https://moneroaddress.org/

If quantum tech becomes the reality, I expect all technology to radically change.
Things will have to move and migrate with the times.
You say its not an issue for bitcoin? but you don't have any bitcoin! because I just got your key/login/whatever with my quantum computer and now its drained.
No I was referring to it that it's not a retroactive issue. BTC can implement Schorr signature or whatever its called which is quantum resistant. At which point you just send your BTC to a new address and it's over. Whereas in Monero if Monero will get upgraded to a QC resistant algo, you will send your money to a new address. The problem however is that the entire blockchain up to that point will be deanonymized. So Monero doesn't provide forward-anonymity. I see what you are saying, and that looks like the case, at this time - but again - least of our worries. Chances are QC will cause such a shit storm everywhere else, that it just won't matter, or, there will be sufficient notice to deal with it. The fact that it is being proactively examined is reassuring. Let's burn our bridges as we get to them, no need to get ahead of ourselves.

When the upgrade has to be done? If the upgrade is not done, the wallet will just not sync? I just has to replace the old files with the new ones? No need to start the sync from beginning? Yep, just run 0.11.0.0 instead of 0.10.3.1 and everything goes smooooth, as always. What an awesome team.

The price seems to have stabilised a bit between 0.025 and 0.027, do you think this is because the new wallet version is now out and speculation as curtailed a bit? I'm pretty happy with the current pricing point either way
Everything is in sideways mode right now. Polo volume is zip across the board. Well that escalated quickly.

--block-sync-size 20 now default. Awesome for sometimes limited connection, like mine! ADD: Sync is going much faster than 10.3.1 CPU churning @100%, which isn't uncommon for my poor little machine. Doing more work faster seems to be more work, for some reason. Because it is? Sorry, I have a hard time making comments that aren't sarcastic. Especially when... Well, always, really. see edit

P.S. {Edit} In case anyone's interested (if it's relevant) my overall crypto portfolio balance as of now after I dumped the Dash is: 48% XMR, 30% BTC/BCH (50-50, so 15% of each), 10% ETH, 6% LTC, 4% MAID, and 2% "everything else" which includes FCT, DCR, ETC, OMG, DOGE, BCN, PLR, and NVST... plus maybe 1 or 2 others that I've forgotten about that are on some obscure printed paper wallet I've stuck in a drawer somewhere, LOL)
Curious - did you sell BTC, or buy BCH to achieve this (50:50 value)? Or do you mean you have quantity x BTC and quantity x BCH, as distributed(85:15-ish value currently)? Reasoning?

Haha 'Monero did not respond to CNBC's request for comment' LOL I asked the rain this morning if it would stop, and it didn't respond either. I wonder what's going on
