1500 pages of bs ?  Is it worht the read?  Anyone been watching this from the beginning?  Monero worth jumping in on right now?

If you are fascinated by 3 year old market speculation, by all means, go back and read.  Otherwise, IMO a few weeks worth is all that's really relevant.
1822  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: May 25, 2017, 01:06:39 AM
What happn? Monero was a scam? Anyone can link the video or the announcement?

The announcement was the scam(No announcement).  There is a fair amount of butt hurt going on as a result.  Somewhat justified, somewhat overblown, time to move on.  Monero is still the best private, fungible currency.
1823  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: May 25, 2017, 12:59:46 AM
Sure shook out some critters tonight. That's okay they can buy back less Monteros following four weekly greens anyhow :p

Personally, I'm considering buying a boat, and am wondering if mine would sink?

Only if you bring your wallets.  Do It!  If you haven't lost it all in a boating accident yet, you are falling behind the status quo.
1824  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: May 25, 2017, 12:45:00 AM
FLUFFY told everyone so many times "NOT TO BUY MONERO" if you trusted him so much why didn't you guys listen then!!

He's also said on many occasions that Monero is not about him, yet consistently goes out of his way to make it all about him.

I don't think anyone trusts him much anymore, and that's part of the point.

The other part of the point, is that regardless of FP, Monero does its thing.  Yeah, he fucked the price for a while.  Monero still works great though.  While I did suspect him of trolling, I still bought some around ~0.021.  They will be under water for a few hours/days/months, but after 3 years in Monero, I'm pretty used to it AND  I am responsible for my own trading decisions.
1825  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: May 25, 2017, 12:17:55 AM
FluffyPalmface himself probably did.

Sorry but I do not believe this. Even though Fluffy has gone a bit down on my respect scale (he's still pretty high tho), that's NOT how the guy his personality is.

He says he didn't trade on it, and that's fine, but others clearly did, and that's not so fine.  Epic troll, but epic poor taste and execution.

Monero pumps in reverse  Cheesy
1827  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: May 24, 2017, 11:47:09 PM
On twitter, people have been remarking that there were huge short positions opened just before "the announcement".

No news is good news, especially when you're the first to know.
1828  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: May 24, 2017, 11:29:03 PM
Tried to listen to the stream, but audio quality is just too horrible.  Hopefully someone can post some bullet points when its over.

Anyone know what's going on?!

FYI: coz of the room change and traffic etc. we're only starting the talks in an hour, announcement Tweet will happen as the room sees it.
1831  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: May 24, 2017, 10:12:22 PM
The last 5 hours or so have been... interesting.  Surely anything loose has been shaken out under such volatility! 1 more hour before it flips one way or the other.
1832  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 24, 2017, 09:13:27 PM
I can't help but thinking that this is going to end very badly. There have been minimal to no corrections since late 2015, with corrections becoming more and more minimal towards the current price. The price has risen 3x this year alone, and risen 11x since late 2015.

Who knows? But both 2013's high and subsequent hangover were excessive and that brutality was caused by factors that don't exist any more.

It's all still being made up as it goes along and visibility is ever growing. Still, if it's sub $1000 I'd be tempted to buy a little more.

Everyone talks about "healthy growth"

But there is something I don't understand...
Healthy growth on a product, whatever it is, means that the growth is backed by a growing demand and/or a diminishing supply. In general it will be backed by an increasing use.

Correct me if I'm wrong of course, but what exactly is explaining the btc doubling its price in a month?
Did we double btc use? Btc demand?

I don't see what's healthy in this growth. I can't say I hate it though of course, but I'm much more sceptical about the "healthy aspect".

Demand has skyrocketed.  Moon rocketed?  Whatever.  Money can't get into crypto fast enough, and its jamming up all the gates.  Have you actually looked around?  Exchanges are backlogged signing up new users.  Poloniex accounts up 600% in 3-4 months.  Its not random.  It's happening!

And there we go, deep red  Roll Eyes

Well, I guess thats it  Shocked.  Nothing to see here, time to go home.
1834  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 24, 2017, 09:20:25 AM
Looking at history, BTC won't hit the craze of 2011/2013 unless it hits $10,000 this year. So $2,200 is about boring (also shows in this slow thread; you should have been here in 2013 to understand what I mean...).

Paying off your mortgage is great but the really interesting part is seeing a new paradigm being born.

*takes a one hour break.  Returns to 24 new pages in Wall Observer Thread.

Had to charge my phone several times a day, and data! Whew!  All those train gifs  Cheesy
1835  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: May 24, 2017, 06:24:29 AM
1010 active nodes.  The moneroj are flying.  That's about as high as I've seen the count, IIRC.  You should all turn on mining - simple as clicking a button in the GUI.  HR seems low/unaffected by the # nodes.
1836  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 24, 2017, 02:32:53 AM
Back in June 2013 I signed up for 1000 free XRP - well today I converted to them to BTC. Happy days.
This is my first (and last?) time using Ripple. Such a strange user experience. When it works, it's great - fast and cheap. But waaaay to many cryptic error messages. 11 failed attempts before it finally worked.

2013 sign up and a newbie eh?  good lord! i guess you  took lurking to a whole new level eh?...

I don't know why I''m still a newbie - the system is rigged.

I have been reading this thread just about every day for all these years.... I'm just not very talkative. Oh and my list of blocked users is huge :-)

Anyhow, Stamp is slowly approaching 2300, so that's cool.

LOL  I only signed up in order to use the ignore button.  After months and months of wading through crap, I figured it was time.

$2300 passed on bitstamp,  $3150 at Quadriga.  All in a calm and controlled manner.  Can't wait for the excitement  Cheesy
1837  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: May 24, 2017, 02:01:52 AM
This summer will be my third anniversary of hodling. This is gentlemen.

I may sell just enough for hookers and blow.

May that = <1xmr

Amen

Do yourself a favor, and up the ante a little  Cheesy

0.023
If that was the dip, It wasn't enough to take my BTC  Sad
1838  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: May 23, 2017, 10:19:16 PM
New ATH I think in BTC Price

No it was 0.0265 on 3rd September 2016. But it all seems it will happen.

I seems to forgot on my promise I will sell 10% of my coins when price reach $50. LOL

Oh well...  Maybe you will catch 500  Tongue
1839  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: May 23, 2017, 09:59:42 PM
C$71  Is nice to see.  Once upon a time I figured to start selling a bit at C$100.  I got over it.

add:
market looking like its getting a bit warm...  97K coins left on polo for sale.
1840  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: May 23, 2017, 03:52:36 PM

There is the possibility that this 'bubble' is merely a 'level up' process.

That is IMHO better than 50-50 true... possible even more-likely-than-not given how LONG it's been since Honey Badger made one more of its "regular" 10X level-up moves.  That's been IMHO artificially constrained by the blocksize conundrum and just as water finds it's own level one way or another the markets are finding this "level" via altcoins now (maybe.  or maybe it's just all bullshit LOL)

The pop could be less drastic than what we tend to expect in crypto.  Except for the absolute shitcoins, which will fade away, of course.

Yup, although I'm still of the strong opinion that the "PROFITS" being accumulated now by who-knows-who altcoin Whales (<cough> Dash premine scammers? <cough>) will eventually find their way to MONERO as the only really certain method they'll have to keep their ill gotten gains PRIVATE and tax-free... Smiley

We will see, one way or the other.

Meantime nothing really to do but make more popcorn and try to enjoy the show... Wink

As we bumped over C$60, I managed to knock my tall coffee cup over into a pile of important papers on my desk.  Yay.  Note to self: curtail excessive hand movement at desk.  Not sure if its a good thing or not that no coffee made it to the floor  Undecided

yes, I also believe that a portion of that hot money will end up in Monero.  Exciting times!
