https://braiins.com/blog/impact-of-temperature-on-efficiency-of-antminer-x19s

Well ... I got pretty far actually ...

Though I guess your response will be that pool size is all that matters ... so everyone should leave your pool and go to the bigger ones? Smiley

I know, you are one of the good examples. But remember that even your pool is not 0% fee  Smiley

It will be really interesting to see what changes they propose/enact (if any) to combat inscription "spam."

This may surprise everybody but if they decide to somehow place new limitations on it, it wouldn't upset me.

Yes, this is what i want to see.

There is a new spammer, something BRC-20 which seems to be a type of smart contracts. So as we warned in February, things are getting worse. Like they said: "Anything hex will be uploaded, Ordinals paved the way". That's a honest spammer, that never cared about Bitcoin.

Time is ticking, spam is increasing...
285  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 50% off for antminer s19 XP by bitmain on: March 30, 2023, 07:30:14 PM
Even more fucked is the NFT part.

Promoting putting garbage in blockchains is just ridiculous.

Well, we don't care about altcoins do we? Problem is spamming Bitcoin and devs doing nothing about it.

The excuse that mining must be kept alive at "any" cost, can only come from people who don't care about Bitcoin and only want to make the most money out of it and leave when it clogs perhaps having some altcoin they secretly push ready to take its place...

And Bitmain stopped being a Bitcoin company the moment they manufactured ASICs for other algorithms, or tried forking Bitcoin.
286  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Braiins OS+ support thread on: March 30, 2023, 07:19:32 PM
when you have rolling advertising for the same firmware and miners on 1 forum you start to wonder if bitcoin is actually worth anyones time. if braiins is needed bitcoin already has a problem. i already have credit cards who charge merchants 2-5% dont need a free p2p network currency firmware that charges 2% and a pool fee that charges 2% kinda sounds like the same ball of shit

You are free to run your own pool and develop your own firmware for free, lets see how far you can get...

Whats next, free lunch? You can hash things by hand if you don't want hw or fw optimized for said hw.

And in this forum anyone can run advertising signatures, got a problem with that? No we don't have a campaign running (I'm too lazy for it). If you don't like it, don't use it. If you don't like my messages, use the ignore function and go back to your credit cards.

289  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Braiins OS+ support thread on: March 27, 2023, 06:16:00 PM
Apparently from 2023 onwards, so in theory you should be safe. I actually got the first picture in late December. It is from CVITEK.

Yes, Bitmain is using cpus designed for real time video processing with AI acceleration for identification of people... A bit of a waste IMO.
290  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin can't become world currency (at least now). on: March 27, 2023, 05:58:37 PM
I don't even see it in the future. This seems to be impossible given how powerful fiatisnd also, being the only currency to be used, I doubt, is the goal of this industry. One reason why this is impossible is because taxes play a role to every countries' economy. Another is lack of stability with the market price of not only Bitcoin, because its market value is dependent with the demand. Thus, using it on a daily basis won't promote equality or stability with the transaction.

Imagine buying a meal for 5 bucks worth of Bitcoin then its market value fall in an instant, therefore you'd be needing bigger amount than what was supposed to. Then afterwards, the price again increased. Won't you feel bad? Same thing with businesses who'd accept such mode of payment, will it be good for their business? Downsides are there. People could make use of this technology in many ways but for all countries to rely on this, is a punch to the moon.

I have lived this with hyperinflation, it doesn't matter in the end. You simply pay something "equivalent to" the time of transaction. Since its bitcoin, it averages in the end, so those times it went up balance with the times it went down, just like a proper mining pool without the PPS facade (fiat like).

The only people making this argument have lived in countries where their fiat has not crashed overnight, yet. Don't wait for it, once it comes it is too late, again, i lived the experience. You in "nice" countries should opt out of the fiat currency while you still have some wealth. You think the bankruns in the US are a joke? A problem in just a few banks and not the system itself? Think again... Just because you have never experienced it in your life, doesn't mean you won't.

Remember this, when it happens, you will NOT be able to preserve your wealth by moving to some other asset (including bitcoin). You must act NOW before it happens. Don't come crying if you lose all your wealth like many people in hyperinflation economies did in the past for ignoring this advice. Clock is ticking, the USD crashing from a widespread bankrun can only pull down the other fiats and banks, and its a very fragile ponzi scheme, the fractional reserve it can easily fail globally, it hasn't before, but it can. It just takes 10% of money being withdraw at the same time on a global scale, for example, from a panic after learning the USD is crashing...

You give to much trust too your politicians and institutions, don't. It is too late once it happens, remember that.
291  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mempool full? Long transaction times + fees x10! on: March 27, 2023, 03:21:34 PM

oh and yes i do agree there is like 12 ass-kissing wannabe fangirls of core on this forum that idolise these exploits and defend devs.. but are not successfully getting recruited into being their official PR team because they are still penny pinching for income via sig spamming or merit cycling each other

that sounds like a strange situation indeed. i'm assuming all 12 of them are pro-ordinals for sure. but maybe not? Shocked what's the benefit of being on the "PR team" do they get chocolate chip cookies or something?

I don't think all 12 are pro-spam. Its pointless to mention ordinals since that's only one of the spam sources. This is not just against ordinals, but the whole spam "ecosystem". Spam abuse was demonstrated publicly by them first in a large scale, that's their merit, devs doing nothing about it, is another matter...

And yes the people should know.

Lets just say my lightning experience was less than satisfactory, compared to a normal transaction, the layers of complexity for end users is a magnitude higher. I basically ended spending 5k sats to get a 10k sats tip in the end, and there were like 3 normal transactions involved, opening a channel, swapping because not enough funds, whatever. And guess what, those were affected by the current spam traffic situation. People can't just tip you a random amount like you can with a normal transaction, it mustn't exceed certain amount the person giving the tip is unaware of. One way was creating the invoice with the amount so it can warn you if its not enough with the channel you opened. Yeah, this is not Bitcoin...
292  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: El Salvador has become the first country to make #Bitcoin legal tender! 🇸🇻 on: March 25, 2023, 09:04:04 PM
That is correct, and only the early adopters can potentially earn the most benefit. Just like using Bitcoin. Of course things can go bad, its not the first time a wonderful project gets crushed by "external" events (like a coup). This is a disease of our developing countries. My country currently has no light at the end of the tunnel, but at least El Salvador has. We can only cheer for Salvadorians to keep this going and shine the light to the rest of the world.
293  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mempool full? Long transaction times + fees x10! on: March 25, 2023, 08:50:06 PM
No, the solution is kick the spammers out, things simply worked fine before the public Feb exploit.

That's not a solution. How are you going to do that? Have you written a BIP regarding limiting Taproot script length and submitted it for consideration on GitHub? Have you attempted to contact anybody who can potentially do anything about it?

We will bring it up until someone who can do something, does. For example the patch for nodes to filter the spam, that's a start. Something more "proper" needs to be written, sure, perhaps YOU can do something about it?

Wait for the next release, or try with a BeagleBone. The Zynq image is currently supporting a few less variants.

When shopping around for a miner, how best can I get a reliable answer from a potentially clueless vendor to figure out if the miner has a zynq or a BBB or a Amlogic control board?

And how could it be verified, eg is there an easy way to take a photo that shows a relevant part of the control board, so that even an uninformed vendor could show me a photo that answers if it is a BBB or a Amlogic board?

The external SD card slot is easy enough to verify the zinq variant.

There is a new control board which is under study, it also comes with a microSD slot in the front, so no, it is not a safe method.
There will be an announcement about AmLogic, you should keep them. Only the aml has the usb port so its still easy to recognize from the outside. And only the bbb has no port at all, its also easy to recognize from the outside.

If it has a microSD slot, then hopefully it has a sticker with Zynq/Xilinx/7007 on top. Else you need to remove the metal cover and see for yourself.

297  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mempool full? Long transaction times + fees x10! on: March 25, 2023, 01:49:02 PM
That doesn't truly change the fact that it's ANNOYING, and the fees are more than what they were before Ordinals, doesn't it? I don't want to offend anyone who develops NFT projects, and/or collects/trades NFTs, but you told Artemis3 to move his transactions offchain. The same can be adviced for those dick pics and fart sounds in the blockchain, so in my personal opinion, move them offchain.

I'm providing an actionable solution to an easily solvable problem. What you are offering is just more opinions and complaints which doesn't actually help solve anything.

No i don't, someone just offered a LN tip and i just gave it a "quick try", and after it finally opened the channel (the following day), and providing an "invoice request" it didn't work for whatever reason. I don't like lightning, kick those spammers out so that everyone can use Bitcoin for normal transactions again.

The irony of the thing is you telling people to go "custodial". No, the solution is kick the spammers out, things simply worked fine before the Feb exploit.
298  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mempool full? Long transaction times + fees x10! on: March 24, 2023, 11:38:08 PM
Yeah, I'm still waiting for the lightning channel; no tip for me today, thanks spammers.
299  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mempool full? Long transaction times + fees x10! on: March 24, 2023, 06:48:16 PM
I did a 14 sat/b tx to fund a lightning channel, that was hours ago just to receive some tip... So much for instant payments. Sure once opened it should work that way, but here is another real world example of letting spammers run rampant.
300  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Greenpeace's latest tirade against Bitcoin, part deux on: March 24, 2023, 03:05:32 PM
Of course, that banker from Ripple pocket them with some leftovers. Back then he announced 5 million to FUD Bitcoin, maybe he just continued feeding their new acquired parrot?, especially now that their system is in panic...

Who burns more energy? The traditional banking/financial system or Bitcoin? The traditional system burns so much more energy the comparison isn't even funny. Just imagine a world without banks, credit/debit cards, exchanges, none of it is needed with Bitcoin.

So it is clear that no matter what they say, they are just a tool for banker's agenda, who oppose Bitcoin because it has render them obsolete.
