Good morning Bitcoinland.
I see we've held most of yesterday's gains... currently $16908USD/$20988CAD (Bitcoinaverage).
Old coins are now worth $19951USD/$24766CAD (Coinmarketcap).
Do we see $20k before the end of the month?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BITCOIN! BTC is NINE years old. Nine years later ignorant idiots are still publishing articles about BTC that they clearly don't understand! Given how much the required electricity consumption for Bitcoin mining has jumped over the years, it is no surprise that – in comparison to #0 – the mining reward for a single block has dropped to 12.5BTC these days. [insert facepalm here] Somebody, send them a clue! https://thenextweb.com/hardfork/2018/01/03/bitcoin-block-zero-first-blockchain/Happy Birthday Bitcoinland.

Good morning Bitcoinland. I see we're about where we were after yesterday's rise, a little over $15k... currently $15287USD/$19166CAD (Bitcoinaverage). Old coins are worth $18331USD/$22978CAD each (Coinmarketcap). The winter blahs are upon us once again. I don't expect any price doubling until the usual spring rally. Can't complain about the usual autumn rally though. 2017's was a real doozy. Time to settle in for the winter, content with last years harvest and wait for the new season. Then again, maybe a certain honey badger doesn't want to hibernate.

I bet a lot of your friends want to come by at your house to watch stuff on TV. I don't do TV. Gave it up years ago. No cable, no antenna, no commercials. Anything I want to watch, primarily Jays' road games and movies, I watch through the computer. I hate commercials. I barely tolerate Youtube now because they'e started sticking commercials in at the start of videos. I consider them to be stealing my bandwidth. Banner ads are acceptable because you have the option of ignoring them and focusing on the content, just like magazine ads or billboards beside the highway. You can turn the page with the full-page ad and continue reading the article, or ignore the billboard and enjoy the scenery. TV and Youtube commercials are unacceptable because you are forced to pause the content for the duration of the advertising. If I have the option, I'll boycott any advertised product.

wow totally natural non washtraded price increase Yep. Just like the totally natural non washtraded price decrease on December 22. Jimbo you sounds like you have lost some more money!!! I was just toying with the troll. No money lost here. Actually, I bought the dip. Took a cab in a blizzard to get the best price. Then I realized I'd left myself a little short on dollars so I had to sell back about 1/4 of what I'd bought to take advantage of boxing week sales. Luckily, the price had rebounded so I still turned a profit even after paying ATM and TX fees. Got myself a nice little 55" 4K OLED TV to use as a monitor for my main PC. Nothing grandiose like Bob's but easy on the eyes nonetheless and a perfect size for how close I sit to it. Got a 40% boxing week price break. Life is good.

Anyone paying $30 to get into some bar that's usually free to have a crap time surrounded by fucksticks and shit heels is a cock honker.
That's because they're doing it wrong. Right now (about 7:30PM local time) I'm chowing down to an inexpensive home-cooked dinner to make sure I'm not drinking on an empty stomach. I'm about to draw a bath to keep from wanting to nod out after eating a large meal. By about 10:00PM I'll show up at the local where some friends are playing. By then they'll have finished their first set and be warmed up. Lucky me, I don't have to play tonight although I'll probably get called up for a few songs. There's almost never a cover (none tonight) but even if there were I'd just go around back and go in through the kitchen. I'll be surrounded by friends and neighbors. Drinks are cheap and people are always buying rounds. Some people call it a "dive bar" but I'll take it any time over some over-priced trendy shithole full of poseurs and hipsters. Hopefully I'll get lucky but even if I end up coming home alone I'll have a good time and not spend too much money. Happy New Year all!

Good morning Bitcoinland.
I see we've gained back most of what we lost yesterday.. currently $14114USD/$17747CAD (Bitcoinaverage).
Old coins are worth $16996USD/$21372CAD each (Coinmarketcap).
It's nice to see just about all cryptocurrencies except Ripple up today. Maybe the Ripple bubble is about to pop. That would be very amusing.
As the new year works its way around the world we have a lot to look forward to in 2018.
Go Bitcoin go.

Good morning Bitcoinland.
Still going sideways I see... currently $14702USD/$18464CAD (Bitcoinaverage).
Old coins are worth $17556USD/$22042CAD each (Coinmarketcap).
Real mineable altcoins are generally down while non-mineable garbagecoins are generally up, led by the darling of the banks, Ripple. What a joke.
Meanwhile, Bitcoin is holding its own. Time to play wait and see.

Oh? Korea "banned Bitcoin"? Ho hum.
Yawn.
Not really that bad, news just making it sound bad to make btc plummet i think "South Korea, which is one of the biggest markets in the world for bitcoin, said it was preparing a ban on opening anonymous cryptocurrency accounts and new legislation to enable regulators to close coin exchanges if they felt there was a need to do so." Remember when "China bans Bitcoin" was enough to send the market reeling? Dec 5, 2013, Jan 12, 2017 and Sept 14, 2017 were good examples. Prices plunged as markets panicked. Now nobody in Bitcoinland cares about China any more. Why should we care about some minor KYC/AML regulations in S. Korea? No big deal. This time the news didn't even give us a decent buying opportunity. As I said, ho freaking hum.

Jimbo, block a few of the nastier KBs or it really is just 10 with a 7 skin on it
For sure. I was planning on replacing the HDD with a new SSD before even booting it up the first time, then being really careful during installation. As I said before, I don't trust anything from any American company in this age of Prism. If Win7 becomes unusable, I'll switch to Linux in a heartbeat. Phuque the NSA. If it has legacy BIOS and I can install from my TheThingy DVD, I'll avoid the HP/MS DVD completely. I'll still have a legal Win7 license. MS is stopping support for Win7 updates so I see no need to do any updates, so I'll just turn them off. After all, I'm just planning on using it as a "throwaway" system anyway... nothing important, confidential, nor sensitive.

I had the impression that Jimbo actually wants his new laptop to have Windows 7! And so right he is... I'm on Windows 7 and extremely satisfied. I'm going nowhere near a version number > 7 unless I absolutely have to. Absolutely. That's the reason I chose this model. Win8 and Win10 are malware. I managed to scrape together the cash to buy one of them without selling any coin. The other I'll get in a few days. Pretty nice machine for the price... HP ProBook 450 G3 Notebook (W0S81UT#ABA)... Core-i5, 8GB DDR4, USB3, HDMI, and best of all, a Win7pro DVD in addition to the usual recovery stuff. Not high-end by any stretch but a serviceable "business class" laptop with a nice 15.6" 1080p display for under $700CAD. I was surprised to see someone still selling a decent new system with Win7. I thought I might have to get a refurb to avoid Win8/10. It's getting harder to find a decent system with legacy BIOS and my trusty old Win7 (all versions) by the TheThingy doesn't work with EUFI systems. ______ It also includes a Win10 DVD as well but that can go straight into the trash. I hate malware.

Good morning Bitcoinland. I see we lost the bit we gained last night and we're right back where we were yesterday morning... currently $15247USD/$19307CAD (Bitcoinaverage). Old coins are worth $18448USD/$23357CAD each (Coinmarketcap). I suppose sideways is better than going down but this morning's dip feels contrived and artificial. Obviously it will be temporary but it's annoying to me because I would have sold a very small amount of coin last night to take advantage of a boxing week special to buy a Win7 laptop for a friend. Unfortunately my local 24/7 ATM wasn't buying coins and all the other nearby ATMs were closed for the holiday. Now I'll have to wait a day or two until I get some more cash revenues or Bitcoin prices rise sufficiently. There's no way I'm selling any coins at this price. Too bad, she's coming into town tomorrow night and I wanted to have it set up to surprise her. I also wanted to get one for myself as a "throwaway" for international travel that I won't have to worry about falling into the wrong hands. I can save $600 by buying them this week. Notice how they're trying to paint a head-and-shoulders pattern on the tape, in a low volume/participation environment. Classic Bitcoin. No freaking kidding. I'm glad I'm not the only one to notice.

16.4 is a special area imo. If we break it thoroughly we should have a happy happy new year. If we can't? I think we test 10-11k again.
After a short breather, we're taking another run at it. Go Bitcoin go.
