Good morning Bitcoinland.

More of the same... another day, another AYH ($9899 Stamp), another wee correction... currently $9815USD $13060CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

Keep it coming.

Since when do you need to login to browse reddit?
They for a while have been aggressively pushing for using the app, but could still be ignored.

Desperate to track and profile its users it seems. Bye Reddit.

All those trolls are in my ignore list to this day, with kwukduck at the top. Back then I used to think these people were getting paid to troll. And now at this point I'm somewhat convinced these russian/chinese troll farms that are used to sway social media got their start in the Bitcoin community. Sort of a proving ground that sowing discord can have real world effects.

"Ok newbie welcome to trollcorp, now go cut your teeth on those new fangled Bitcoiners and all their joy and exuberance".

Its actually a credit to all of you who kept this thread going and active that you have turned it into what it is today, where the negative troll effect is effectively zero.

Well howdy old timer. Lurk much?

True decentralization consists of unofficial community of individuals worldwide.
As in, pre-KYC/AML localbitcoins. Over Tor, with feedback ratings.

Or better yet, avoiding the internet and other forms of domestic espionage and meeting people through traditional face-to-face social contact away from cameras and analysis bots.
2146  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 07, 2020, 04:53:37 PM

nice graph,
it will be interesting how these machine will cope with new AML5 regulation in Europe.
In Italy I tested an ATM (without KYC, other installation avaliable over Europe, also in Spain) but I bet they have only weeks left before they shut down.
Comprare Bitcoin senza KYC: Bitcoin Bancomat a Milano rispettoso della Privacy

Total restructuring and regulation will occur when bitcoin is integrated into existing traditional ATMs installed in or owned by banks.

Even privately owned (by individuals) ATMs are a form of centralization.

The more governments and other corporations try to regulate them, the more people will turn to other more decentralized options like person-to-person transactions behind closed doors.

True decentralization consists of unofficial community of individuals worldwide.

Good morning Bitcoinland.

Yet another day and another (barely) AYH ($9878 Stamp) followed by a sane correction... currently $9801USD/$13045CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

Nice and smooth, slow and steady.

Go bitcoin go.

Sleep tight, at $11k we're going to hold a jonoiv-proudhon party. Grin

Don't forget the other classic trolls like Kwukduck, Fonzie, NLC, Jaroslaw/Walsoraj, Matthecat, etc.

They're like the comics section in an old-fashioned newspaper. Good for a small laugh every day.

Good morning Bitcoinland.

Another day another ATH $9859.6 (Stamp) and a lovely small correction... currently $9790USD/$13018CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

Love this relatively steady moderate upward trend. Up a step, back a half step, rinse and repeat.

Slow and steady wins the race. Go Bitcoin go.

#cheers from jalisco!

Salud from Quintana Roo!

Unseasonably hot here... 33c (91f) in the shade, not counting the stifling humidity.

Thank gawd for air conditioning and ice-cold Tecate.

Good morning Bitcoinland.

Back up in the $95xx range again... currently $9555USD/$12700CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

Hopefully another AYH soon.

Go Bitcoin go.

Also congrats to Elon Musk. How much has he earned in the last few days?

A generation ago he would have been dead by now.

Good morning Bitcoinland.

I see we had a nice new AYH ($9615 Stamp) before sliding back down to the $93xx slot we seem stuck in for the moment... currently $9346USD/$12377CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

This is great. Keep nudging higher without running away.

Go Bitcoin go.
2154  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 31, 2020, 06:29:06 PM

Same thing.
2155  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 31, 2020, 04:55:12 PM

Nope, fucking scary actually.
But it seems not Trezors fault, the STM32 micro misbehaves when it is voltage "glitched".
Basically the device is useless as hardware wallet without replacement, except when the seed is protected by a BIP39 passphrase (which is what Kraken recommends as fix/cure).

^ Krakens blog article is really very detailed and well written. You need only a minimal electronic understanding to reproduce the attack. (<- Meaning the crims will be up to speed quickly).

wow, just wow. Hardware wallets only have one purpose, protect the private key. Is it really that hard to design a secure hardware? I wonder when they find a bug in ledger wallets which can not be fixed with a software update.

I hate to say, "I told you so" but I could never understand why people would spend money on hardware wallets with their risk of vulnerability when new addresses can be created easily, securely, and for free. Laziness I guess.

Is protecting private keys all that more difficult than protecting pass/seed phrases?
2156  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 31, 2020, 03:17:33 PM
Good morning Bitcoinland.

I see we're down a bit from yesterday's $9.5k+ AYHs but still well over $9k... currently $9277USD/$12267CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

Taking a little breather is a good thing but let's get back to the rally soon.

Go Bitcoin go.

Or don't use a bank at all. Do it the Jimbo way. Bitcoin ATM, wallet sweep, cash in hand. No names, no IDs, no records. The anonymity is worth the 5% (or whatever it is) commission.

Unless you're talking large sums, in which case you need to be extra careful.

It's been over a year since I've used an ATM. Now all my transactions are OTC, anonymous.

My typical fee is 3% which is competitive with just about any exchange when you include the cost of transferring the fiat. Definitely a cheap price for anonymity.

It's also instant. When I buy dollars, they're being counted in the machine while I'm scanning the QR code and sending the satoshis to pay for them. The whole process takes seconds. Same when I'm selling dollars.

The most important thing is that I never expose my private keys or give up any bitcoins until the cash is being counted. The only period of risk is during that time after sweeping from cold storage, buying, or otherwise receiving bitcoins into a cellphone wallet application and before transferring them to other secure addresses, either my own or other peoples.

New yearly highs recorded on Coinbase...

What's Coinbase?

Someone for suckers to give their private keys lend their bitcoins to.

Should be "Keybase" then, no?  Grin Grin Cheesy

Amazing that people didn't learn their lesson from Mtgox.

Not your keys, not  your coins.

Good morning Bitcoinland.

I see we're still hanging in sideways in the $93xx range... currently $9368USD?$12375CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

Hopefully we can put away the Vegeta memes for now but before we do, I wanted to point out that the Vegeta dude is flashing the WO sign. I'm surprised no one else spotted this.

BSV ... what is this? Cheesy

Altcoin.
