2861  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Has Anyone Gotten Robinhood wallets yet? on: November 13, 2021, 03:46:46 AM
Newbies should know the importance of key or seed (depends on specific wallet, they will have private key or mnemonic seed) with which they will have a non-custodial wallet to use. With such wallets, they will have control of their wallet and Bitcoin.

Read Recommended wallets and pick an appropriate wallet to use.

They might (or not) do this but they try to accuse that Bitcoin mining is harmful for the Earth environment. It is kinda FUD if we know (based on data) that Bitcoin mining industry is green and sustainable enough.

From [1-3], Bitcoin mining industry uses somewhere about 70% of its energy from green & sustainable resources. Another topic to read is Debunk the "Bitcoin is an environmental disaster" argument [4] and other articles from EndtheFUD.org

2864  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Kucoin Wallet- Google verification code not coming through on: November 13, 2021, 02:36:53 AM
When you activate the 2FA for your account, you will have two methods to do it via
  • QR code
  • 2FA code: that is a mix of characters and numbers
Remember both QR code and 2FA code represents the same thing so you are fine if you back up either one of them. I would prefer to use 2FA activation code rather than QR code. Because I feel it is easier to try it if one of characters or numbers is missing or damaged by any reason. With QR code, if the image is blurry, I don't think of anyway to recover it.

More important, many people don't backup the activation code or QR code so in case their device is broken, they can not self-recover 2FA. The only option for them is create a support ticket and wait for help from exchange. It takes time and I don't want to put myself into such situation.
2865  Other / Meta / Re: Quick question about the account _BlackStar on: November 13, 2021, 01:02:52 AM
I have sign message before and if needed then I can do it again now with a little extra reason about changing bitcointalk account email. Thanks for your responese, but I'm expecting more now.
There is no harm to change your email address if you are real owner of the account.

Email is not all factors that can be used when you need to recover your account but if you have it as one of factors, why do you skip it?
  • Email address
  • Sign message and staked address
  • Other things would be asked by admins along the recovery procedure as well.

My recommendation is Bitcoincore.org is a better website for people to visit and get Bitcoin Core wallet for downloading.
We don't know what Cobra will do with Bitcoin.org website and that domain. theymos tried to separate the forum to Bitcoin.org. The announcement from theymos.

2869  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Swapping and exchanges. on: November 11, 2021, 11:11:24 AM
2- If I want to swap my tokens to another tokens or coins, then does this process depend on the exchange?
When you swap on DEX, the available liquidity is matter.

If it is low and the amount of capital you want to use for that swap is big, you will lift the price up a lot. It is why people like CEX because they can have high liquidity. Also they won't have to bear of slippage on DEX.

On the other hand, DEX is good because it allows you to control your private key or mnemonic seeds. You are actually control your coins, not the exchange.
2870  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin circulation increases on: November 11, 2021, 05:07:56 AM
I think this increase tells us that many holders have either issued their old bitcoin for sale or that there is an increase in the number of old wallet being recovered
According to the HODL Waves [1], you can get it from Glassnode academy [2], there is about 4M Bitcoin was likely lost. It is just assumption but we do know not all of inactive UTXOs are from lost Bitcoin. Some of them are not lost and will be moved at the right time of market.

They can be suddenly recovered and moved or simply moved to create news on the market.

Glassnode has a report Follow the smart money in which we can see some on-chain indicators that this bull run has yet topped up.

Cryptowisser.com - Exchange graveyard
Notyourkeys.org - Not your keys, not your coins

Exchanges can be hacked and don't make compensation for customers. They can have scam exit. They can be shut down by government and else. Generally there are many risk when you leave your coins on exchanges and don't have access to private keys or mnemonic seeds.

If exchanges run into troubles, you will probably lose your coins.

2876  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Apple CEO Tim Cook invests on Crypto on: November 10, 2021, 10:50:31 AM
Months ago, we had news about Apple.

I am not surprised to know the CEO of Apple invested in crypto. It is inevitable trend that billionaires especially tech-made billionaires start to invest into crypto.

It would be triggers for such Big-Tech to start their developments to adapt to the evolution of blockchain industry.

Expanding it further, do you guys know that the old gaming company, EA sports recognized the game-changing potential of NFT for gaming industry.
2877  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Future trading awareness of easy money liquidation on: November 10, 2021, 08:31:56 AM
I have noticed many traders are losing to trading, there are many reasons that caused this. The first I know are the new traders, they know nothing about trading.
Even if they are not newbies, not new traders, it does not mean they are professional traders. I mean know how to trade does not mean they are pro. Consequently, they are not able to get profits in the market by trading.

According to many stats, in general, traders bear more loses than investors. Investors earn more profit than most of traders.

Reference: The odds of day trading yourself to a profit are lower than you expect

Additionally, the risk of loss from Leverage or Future trading are much higher than Spot trading. Leverage from 5x+ are very risky.

2879  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: How Much $ Have You spent On Ethereum As Gas Fees on: November 09, 2021, 01:01:19 PM
I feel unsafe to connect about it so input an address to check is better. However it brings another issue: when you check your address, transactions with explorers or third-party sites, you reveal your privacy.

People who don't care about privacy, are free to use those websites to check transaction history. No worry at all.

The topic should have been, how to know how much you've spent on Ethereum gas fee' thanks for sharing but I don't think I want to know because it doesn't matter but I'm sure some people would care so thanks for sharing
Ethereum used to be attacked because of fee and people thought that if Ethereum can not resolve their expensive transaction fee, the coin can not grow more in price. In fact, Ethereum did not resolve it but it just makes a new all time high.

Binance Smart Chain is repeating what happened with ETH and ERC20 chain. They were launched and seriously shilled by CZ as a chain for cheap transactions. Now, it is becoming more expensive. Gamers in Play to Earn games on BSC are facing fear of expensive fee for each of their clicks.  Embarrassed
2880  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: No one can continue ignoring Bitcoin on: November 09, 2021, 12:46:54 PM
Do people actually get the forks from time to time and sell them for Bitcoin?
Price of fork is significantly lower than Bitcoin.

Quote
I'm thinking that maybe it would be a bit risky since I reckon you'll need to put your private key to access them.
This. When you want to claim a fork, you have to expose your Bitcoin private key. It is risky somewhat and in bad case, you can lose your Bitcoin. Don't want to claim forks, don't know how to do this, and at the end, losing your Bitcoin. It sucks!
