Sorry about the situation. PoS here just works differently. Though it sounds bit tough, it does secure the chain as you can imagine, and it seems does so far.

left my coins in wallet 2 weeks, synced chain no problem, had 10 connections but of course like others no rewards. Bit dissappointed but went back to exchange
If PoS is not happening within a week, it's most likely overstaked; that is, the coin age falls into the tail of the following, which may not lead to a successful PoS any more.  There is a need to reset the coin age then. We will get some easy tools into the wallet so that one can easily figure out what's going on. |

Coins in wallet should be split into 15000 around size. When I have one chunk of 60K, soon I lost weight and couldn't stake at all. After I sent 15K to myself with coin control option. All my 60K splitted into 4 chunks of 15K pile. Finally staking started.
I will have to try that. I have about as many as you too. How many magi have you staked per month? I bet this wouldn't be the best number, as we designed the way that some amount in a more acceptable size gives the highest return. |

I am currently on a buying binge make it over 77k magi. any guesses what I would stake in a year and I am a newbie to it so I would love/appreciate any advice the magi community could give me. thanks in advance.
Basically about 3~5% APR I'd say, depending on network weight. I love hearing about people buying, however, I'd say decent buying will be the most pleasant part, and there is a decent reason to buy it.  to look for stakeinterest (a varying number). |

While this sounds secondary, I'd post preliminary switch of logo to a new version (blue the primary) for clarity and simplicity:

There is really good reason to have it set to off POSii=0 , if this is now hard coded in the new wallet XMG as posii=1 its just asking for forks, The chain must be fully synced before the wallet enters POS.
Once a fork happens it is choas, exchanges lock down wallets, pools stop. Thinking I should look start looking different coins now if this is not addressed.
The staking is disabled before fully synced. It would be a mess that the wallet generates blocks while taking blocks from peers; and even you can generates blocks, they won't be accepted by the network as you just work alone. If wallet is stuck while sync, that's not due to staking but something about downloading blocks. In a case you get forked, you have to discard the whole block data and resync from scratch; would that be the case you run into? And most importantly, it's not that easy to fork, as magi is PoW/PoS based; you got to work on both PoW and PoS for a safe fork. Speaking of the setting, the PoSII is a lot safe in most of case by giving default 0 (PoS disabled). However, it won't be nice for general users cause they have to go editing magi.conf in order to enable staking, which is a barrier more or less, and sort of the confusing part. I'd vote for the other way around, easy to stake in general. And don't forget, once wallet is locked by password, you're default not to stake. |

Some people mentioned mining on server; for this, I advertise the "-e" flag, such as "-e 50" giving 50% CPU in mining that won't cause your VPS being killed by vendor.

... Also a integrated Miner GUI in the Wallet to solo mine would lead a lot people to join the community i guess, since the m7m is very nice for mining on smaller devices. A general problem of crypto at the moment when it comes to mining is that about 90% of the world wide computer users are just normal people that dont know much about computers at all. For all of us here it is no problem to set up minerd read a bit how to solve things and get it running as we would like to have it running. Some workmates for example have seen me recently while trading on polo on my workplace and where like " oh your'e trading crypto i heared a lot about that but i dont know how this works and i gave up since i don't get it to run". People are always cought in they're confortzone and have a hard day to break out of it. With the posibility to mine with an clear and self explaining GUI like the Wallet has, or at its best a integrated mining funtion within the wallet could do something that every crypto lacks at the moment to get more simple people into crypto. Since Magi is mainly a currency to pay with it needs long term a wide userbase because merchants will always ask themself "how many more volume of sales will we have by accepting this currency because there are people not buying at the moment because magi is not accepted". In addition to this merchants always need a stable priced currency to avoid the risk of an total loose of the trade margin or even more. In my opinion Magi is a great projekt but lacks marketing and a well designed hompage at the moment. Unfortunately i only know stuff about selling things coaching people to leave there confortzone and get to a selling machine on theyr'e job but not about programming and web design. But if you want further ideas and thoughts about the projekt give me a hint and i will try to figure things out. I also can do a german translation for the wallet if you want to, since it is pretty much mixed german, english at the moment.  The comments quite make sense, and actually some prior posts mentioned the same miner integrating into wallet. I'll get it into the to-do-list. Depending on the timeline, I'll see how it be squeezed in parallel with some other things to be done. I'd go with the way with a minimum touch to the present wallet, but making an extra extended version with some more rich functions including the miner. 4 things:

Can anyone explain me or give me further information on how to solo mine with other devices on a different location to the same Wallet?
Do i need to instal the Wallet on every device and import my wallet.dat to do so or is there an other option to point devices directly to it?
Following the guide by Elar, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=735170.msg17899424#msg17899424; modify magi.conf to have the following (no square brackets): rpcallowip=[IP of your PC that will run miner] restart the wallet in order to reload magi.conf, then run the miner (no square brackets), ./m-minerd --url http://[IP of your PC that runs the wallet or magid]:8232 --user magi --pass 12345 --threads 4 -e 100 This should work. |

Hi all, Did a little Sunday project and it's was all about to visualize where all the peers connected to http://poolinfo.systms.org where coming from. https://i.imgur.com/Q2JVLJG.pngDid it out of curiosity to who I'm connected to. I know there's still kinks in the map to sort out like some markers are stacked exactly on-top of each other. I've left out the ip-address of the peers connected on purpose. https://poolinfo.systms.org is now fully operational. Wallet information is now visible from the site and updated. Also made som minor adjustments to the css to improve the sites responsiveness. Some html elements was causing an horizontal scrollbar when using devices with small width. Thanks, I've added to OP. |

I notice coind alerts more than anything... do you have and use the alert keys?
Currently the keys are owned by myself. I guess this shouldn't be the way going as in one person's hand, or such a feature should be abandoned hopefully in the near future. |

First of all i want to say hello to you guys and this community! Im mining XMG since January the 1st now and holding my coins because it feels like there is some future for this coin. I also would like to say that i love the new wallet, it is one of the best alt wallets i have seen so far, great work! Some of you guys where talking about a roadmap and for sure i will appreciate something like that, its always nice to know what the future plans are. At the end some critism, i have seen that http://pom.m-hash.com/ pool is also listet at https://poolinfo.systms.org. (what is quite a nice site also a great job.) Well what i can say about http://pom.m-hash.com/ is that i have mined there, after arround 50 coins i did not received the mail tokens for account changes anymore, i wrote quite a lot of support tikets that never where answerd. Since i could not set up the auto payout a few days after registration and also where not able to do a manuell withdraw, they pretty much ripped of my coins. On top of that my account was frozen and tells me: Unable to login: Account locked. Please Check your Email for instructions to unlock. As you can imagine, there are no instructions to unlock in my mailbox. (i changed global time at the first day after reg and received tokes so a problem with my mail adress is not possible) Since the support is not responding and i cant log in anymore i pretty much can say they ripped off my coins. (only 50 not much but still something) I dont like to mine at the biggest pool around ( https://xmg.suprnova.cc/) but unfortunately its the only one i trust after https://www.suchpool.pw/ has closed and http://pom.m-hash.com ripped me off. Apart from this it seems like every pool arround have some problems today does anyone has news on this ? Keep on the good work! Best regards Visi0n4ry Sorry for your situation. Not mandatory, but better to. It'll take days. We kept a copy of block chain for speeding: http://coinmagi.org/bin/block-chain/would be loverly to have a bootstrap with the updated chain...
