3061  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Plagiarized Whitepaper - PolyBTC on: July 11, 2022, 03:41:35 PM
here the listing announcement of Coinsbit, a top exchange by the way: https://twitter.com/c0insbit/status/1546433966995116033

Top exchange? LOL. FYI, Coinsbit is one of the worst exchanges on the market. Then again, it fits you perfectly since scammy projects deserve to be listed on scammy exchange.

not will go more into that topic here, after 2 month 3 exchanges and one of them is a top 15 exchange.
Listing on Coinbase or Binance (who listed their share of shitty projects) won't make you any more legit, let alone some " top 15" exchange.
3062  Other / Meta / Re: Merit source observations on: July 11, 2022, 03:35:49 PM
It has been almost one year since last merit source shuffle.
Wondering if we will have another adjustment on July 17th, the date of the first anniversary.
Looking at the sent merit per month, I don't think that theymos  will do the same thing he did year ago. I think that situation merit wise is pretty good and much better compared to year ago when theymos introduced new merit sources and removed the inactive ones. For example, last month 26,486 merits were shared which is a ~100% increase compared to year ago (June 2021) during which only 13,286 merits were shared.

3063  Other / Meta / Re: [Merit] Legendary To Newbies Distribution Concern & Problem! on: July 11, 2022, 03:03:54 PM
Lowering some standards doesn't necessarily entail meriting bad posts; rather, it just means that you shouldn't evaluate new posts in the same manner as legendary ones. Various knowledge levels are present.
I don't think that double standards is the real solution for the lack of merits shared to Newbie members.

Tagging a newbies posts as merit fishing attempts is another problem  Cheesy
Real problem is that we have so many Newbies writing merit fishing posts and not the other way around. How would you characterize all those posts written by newbies giving advice to other members how to behave on forum or how happy they are that they found this forum? Real reason why we get so many of those is because standards were so low that those kind of posts used to get a lot merit and now people simply call them out which is a step in the right direction.
3064  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: stock exchange probit stole my money on: July 11, 2022, 02:05:55 PM
Sorry to hear that buddy, but you should move your topic to the Scam Accusation board and provide as much evidence as possible, including txid and conversation screenshots. It won't help you rbing back your money but it may serve as warning to other members not to use Probit.

Not sure why you can use this unknown exchanges and already have several accusations in this forum since 2020, there's nothing you can do to return your coins even though it's centralized coins and can be reversed if the owner/team want to do that. Don't really hope to get your coins back since you're only can pray to Probit to not scam.
Because shitcoins can usually be found only on those kind of obscure dodgy exchanges like Probit so if you want to sell then, you don't have much options other than risk is and send it there.
3065  Other / Meta / Re: [Merit] Legendary To Newbies Distribution Concern & Problem! on: July 11, 2022, 01:47:18 PM
What became of "helping newbies grow"?
Genuine and quality newbie members have no issues advancing through rank but problem is that that every year there are fewer of those. Hell, there is so much merit being thrown around that all you have to do is write semi-decent posts and you will earn merit at faster pace than you earn activity.

C'mon lower some standard while meriting newbies.
Standard is already pretty low (especially after theymos promoted bunch of new merit sources year ago) and if some newbie still has issue ranking up it means that he is either a shitposter or he writes in boards with low amount of merits shared.

What about the merits source, which ignores B&H and Altcoin discussion boards? This is one of the issues, isn't it? Too well aware that those are the only boards with a higher proportion of newbies.
I don't know why you got impression that merit sources ignore Beginners & Help section when in fact its one of the boards with the highest merit/post ratio. You are right about Altcoin section though.

What are your suggestions?
Apply for a merit source status so you can focus on Newbies. Or even better, focus on Newbies in Altcoin section. Cheesy
3066  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Visa Launches An Exclusive “No Limit” Bitcoin Card on: July 11, 2022, 10:04:56 AM
Making an exclusive card to be available to only 10,000 persons worldwide, i think it's not fair at all, because looking at the crypto community worldwide, there are more 1million crypto enthusiast who will also love to have this No limit card access to Bitcoin, because as the day goes by so is the community increasing in numbers.
If you bothered to read the article you would notice that his "no limit" card will be available only to those super rich people and not to average Joe. After all, for an average user standard crypto debit cards are more than enough, or you think that there are millions of crypto users that can afford spending tends of thousands of dollars worth of crypto on the daily basis so they need this special card?

As for limiting to only 10k users, its nothing but a marketing technique in order to attract people.
3067  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [Review] Bitcoin Back Debit Card by Fold on: July 11, 2022, 09:44:45 AM
I didn't compare Fold card with other crypto debit cards, but I think that Binance exchange is offering similar crypto returns for purchases and it's available in much more countries around the world.
Compared with Binance card, Fold cashback % is much lower: Fold has 0.25% while Binance has between 1%-8%. Situation looks better for Fold if you count gift cards as for Example Amazon gift card gives 5% cashback which is very good.

At the moment they’re still focused on growing their users in the US. The plan is to expand to other countries in the future, but Id expect a few years before that happens.
That sucks, yet another card that is not available here in Europe. Tongue

3068  Other / Meta / Re: Should rules on plagiarism be changed and updated? on: July 11, 2022, 07:32:34 AM
If the rules were relaxed, this forum would quickly turn into cryptotalk.org V2, i.e, a free for all for retarded halfwits who just want to slap down as many posts as possible with no regard for quality or honesty.
I don't know if you noticed, but rules are already more relaxed, or to be more precise mods are more relaxed when enforcing those rules. Just take a look at Mr.right85 case. If that is not worth at least signature ban, then I don't know what is.

To anyone here who isn't aware, that permaban you get if you plagiarize content for a post is absolutely necessary, given that the majority of members here have enormous incentive to take the lazy road and steal a sentence/paragraph/entire article and claim it's their own.  Why?  Because more posts=more $.  That's why those fuckers who've broken the rules need to have their balls broken as fast and hard as possible.
I think that some middle ground approach would be much better than just permanently banning anyone who plagiarize. Those who come here only for the sole purpose of leeching off this forum probably won't be stopped with ban as they will create new account and start from scratch, while genuine user (its possible for genuine user to made such mistake) probably won't come ever again. Unfortunately, forum went from perma bans for copying one sentence to allowing signature spammers copy/pasting dozens of posts with no consequences whatsoever.
3069  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you regret buying before the dip on: July 11, 2022, 06:23:02 AM

A quick question for anyone here who purchased bitcoins say on June 9th just before the unexpected dip began? Do you regret your decisions and are you confident that bitcoins will bounce back?
Nope, I don't regret it one bit as even if you bought BItcoin at ~30k (which I did by the way) its still more than 50% lower from the all time high so I would say its a still good buy. Bitcoin at ~20k is of course even a better buy, but there if I learned anything when it comes to buying Bitcoin, its that there is no point trying to buy at the bottom. Instead, its much better to use DCA (and that's exactly what I am doing) so you avoid regretting going all in and then you see price going down much further.

Just to add, I wouldn't regret even if I bought Bitcoin at ~67k as all that means is that I would have to wait a little bit longer to be in profit.
3070  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [unofficial] CoinDebit NO-KYC pre-paid cards? on: July 10, 2022, 08:43:50 PM
I can't be 100% sure but according to my investigation I don't think they have any hidden fees, and US customers are very happy with this cards so far.
if they only have 1% fee when loading, that makes it on par Binance card when it comes to fees. Even if they have let's say additional 1-2% transaction fee, that would still be acceptable, at least for me.

Regarding this aspect, it would be great to know if it's possible to send back funds from the card to your Bitcoin wallet. For example, if the merchant didn't recognize the card.
This has always been my issue with debit cards; if the payment doesn't go through, you're stuck with a ton of money on that card and no way to instantly move it to another card, back to your bank account or Bitcoin wallet.
From my experience with other crypto debit card, in case of rejected transaction you just have to try it again and it usually goes through so its not a big problem. Regarding your question about withdrawing your funds from card back to the Bitcoin wallet, I really doubt that is possible as from what I understand, CoinDebit is a prepaid card.
3071  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Question for Legendary Members on: July 10, 2022, 04:26:51 PM
Iirc first time I heard about Bitcoin it was back in the late 2013, while casually browsing one Croatian forum and there they had topic about it. Back in those days I was all in gaming and always had high end GPUs so thought of being able to make some some money with mining was what attracted me to go deeper into crypto. My first stint didn't last for long though and I came back few years later.

It just amazes me seeing their posts that it's like they have a decade of knowledge compared to what I know when I started to learn crypto in 2016.
I don't think that those are into bitcoin for a decade are at any real advantage (at least when it comes to knowledge) over those that joined couple of years ago. I know some people that are into crypto for 7-8 years and they never even bothered to read Bitcoin whitepaper, while I know some that joined couple of years ago and are far more knowledgeable about bitcoin and crypto in general that I will ever be and I am perfectly fine with it.

3072  Other / Meta / Re: differences in online crypto communities on: July 10, 2022, 12:03:42 PM
That's gotta be sarcasm, right?  Because Twitter is like living in a world where brain damaged idiots have no filter between their skulls and their keyboards; they just write whatever they think, and they also tend to write what they think people are going to pay attention to.
How good your twitter feed is depends only on you, so if you follow idiots, that's who you are going to see. Its like saying that bitcointalk is crap while constraining yourself to altcoin section.

I mean, if you don't like seeing "predictions" (I don't like them as well for very obvious reasons), you simply don't follow people who post them; and the block option also exists! Twitter can be a great platform if you simply curate your following properly.
I never understood Twitter hate, while its so easy to avoid all that crap if you are picky with your followings.

For me personally, combination of Bitcointalk and Twitter works the best and they compliment each either since they are so different while by far worse for me is 4chan, that's just mess.

3073  Local / Altcoins (Hrvatski) / Re: Altcoin novosti on: July 09, 2022, 03:02:22 PM

3074  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Hopefully someone can help on: July 09, 2022, 02:51:46 PM
I find this story of yours quite unconvincing, because it's hard to believe that someone can deliver something to you, even though it's more than obvious that it doesn't belong to you. Such valuable packages are not driven around without proper documentation and without a tracking number and delivered to random addresses.
+1

Maybe I am just too paranoid, but I am not buying that story. I mean, to get ~$30K worth of mining equipment by mistake and no one figuring it out yet? What is next, OP making the add saying that he is selling those miners now that he established (at least he will think that) his bs story.

3075  Other / Meta / Re: How can i get merit point and how much merit can make me Sr, Hero, Legendary? on: July 09, 2022, 02:31:10 PM
I am a bounty hunter in this forum. How can I increase my rank by earning my merit points. and how much merit can make me higher rank like Sr, Hero, Legendary?
Given your post history which consists mostly of those "proof of authentication" posts its a miracle that you even managed to get those 5 merits. To even get a chance of a higher rank you should start writing an actual posts outside of altcoin section. Since you opened this thread you did the first step, now just take your time to get yourself familiar with the forum as its so much more than altcoin section.
3076  Other / Meta / Re: Where do you post most? on: July 09, 2022, 06:25:56 AM
If theymos does anything seriously, it should be turn off all signature in Altcoin boards (Discussion/ Speculation sub board ie.). That is enough to stop bounty hunters to spam there. However, I still see it won't happen after the launch of bump scores years ago.
I don't think that would be a smart move as all those active in altcoin signature campaigns would just find some other board to spam so I say let them fill their signature quotas there. It's not like we don't have enough signature spam in other parts of the forum already.

Regarding the question in the title of this topic, its Meta for me, even though I don't have that feeling that I am so active there. Numbers don't lie though.
3077  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A newbie with 100$ on: July 08, 2022, 09:02:22 PM
As a newbie who have only 100$ to risk is this even enough?
Invest no more than you can risk, as simple as that. And $100 is not bad start at all, combined with an excellent time when you decided to buy.

Can this get me anywhere?
If you are asking whether this investment gonna make you filthy rich and sort you for life, then the answer is most probably not. That shouldn't discourage you from investing in bitcoin and turning to altcoins as that's the common newbie mistake, thinking that they are too late to make millions with few hundreds/thousands of dollars worth of bitcoin so they end up losing everything on some shitcoin.
3078  Other / Meta / Re: [CHARTS] Brief monthly overview of the local boards activity on: July 08, 2022, 05:59:59 PM
Just completed an update for June 2022. We experienced a slight increase in merit distribution of 21% from the previous month.
I wouldn't call 20% merit increase slight but very good.

It's great to keep increase, but it just depends on how quality the user posts are. While 99 users were still active in June where they made 869 posts.
Since you wrote 1193 posts in June, that means you had ~27% decrease which makes your merit increase even more significant.

Just going through history of these two accounts NoorulHuda and Cosmic Beyonders, i found that only NoorulHuda was banned and Cosmic Beyonders account is still active but got the red trust.

It raises one question that if the account was so much active and had so much to discuss in the local board, how come red feedback can make him enter into a pin drop silence mode  Huh
Given the very similar merit farming tactic, It might be that Cosmic Beyonders and NoorulHuda were controlled by the same person, which would explain why former stopped being active after his main got banned + getting red tag makes it much harder to get into bounty campaigns.

3079  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [unofficial] CoinDebit NO-KYC pre-paid cards? on: July 08, 2022, 05:37:51 PM
I just heard that CoinDebit is working on international cards  Cool
Great news!

I just checked their website and saw that they finally added some fee info in which they say that "There is a one time load fee of 1%. This fee covers the cost of selling the bitcoin." Do you maybe know if that's the only fee and that there are no hidden ones? That is very competitive fee (if true) and would make this card a very good choice.
3080  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Less Worry: Celcius paid off its $114 million Bitcoin-backed loan in 24 hours. on: July 08, 2022, 05:29:34 PM
We already have a small bump in price going on.
I think that this price increase is more like short squeeze than anything else, I don't think that we are out of the woods yet. Regarding Celsius, it is a good news but I think that people who have/had money there are still pretty far away from the moment when they gonna get their money back. If that happens at all.

In other news, ex Celsius employee is suing them and accusing of being a ponzi scheme.

The lawsuit accuses the company of leveraging deposits from customers to "manipulate cryptoasset markets" — and further putting funds at risk by failing to introduce "basic accounting controls."

It goes on to claim that hundreds of thousands of people have been affected by Celsius Network's actions — with withdrawals suspended for almost four weeks.

The documents also take aim at the company's business model, where deposits were used to generate income by lending crypto to others — and investing funds in the crypto markets.

It's alleged that Celsius had no "unified, organized or overarching investment strategy for these deposits" — and "they were desperately seeking a potential investment that could earn them more than they owed to depositors."
