2061  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Mjesečna Analiza za Hrvatsku Lokalnu Zajednicu (Bitcointalk Croatian) on: February 13, 2023, 07:13:33 AM

Broj postova tijekom Sijecnja 2023

Lista aktivnih clanova tijekom Sijecnja 2023

Have you already seen the croatian entry ?  Cheesy Those guys are really crazy! I love that, I think they can surprise everybody and finish in the top 10.
Since I am from Croatia of course I heard the song, its the main topic over here. We usually send boring songs, but this is the first time we sent someone as crazy as the guys from Let 3  Cheesy These guys are old rock band that has cult status here and are usually very provocative so something like this was expected from them. They probably even had to tone it down because of Eurovision song contest rules.

Well if people are interested and if nobody opens a thread I will do it in the coming days I think.
Hah it doesn't hurt trying but I don't think that there will be much interest as rarely anyone outside of Europe cares about it.
2063  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 Oscar Awards betting and discussions on: February 12, 2023, 08:24:56 PM
I don't know whether this is general for all countries or only for my country, but a few days ago Netflix changed there T&Cs and now you cannot share an account with multiple familiars. I guess that they control this comparing IPs, so if you have problems because it isn't available in your geographical region, you can try with a VPN, but I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't work.
His problem is the fact that out of 10 movies nominated for Best Picture award, only All Quiet on the Western Front is available on Netflix so of course he couldn't find many and I don't think that he would find more even if he used VPN to unlock country that has better selection of movies, like US or Canada.

Regarding the password sharing thing, I heard about the changes but so far they haven't enforced it in Croatia but its juts a matter of day. Not a smart move imho, they will lose a lot of customers due that.
2064  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: doradus.io Legit Or Scam ? on: February 12, 2023, 08:10:21 PM
I say they are paying  3.12% daily
They say that they are paying 3.12% daily, but they are not paying out nothing so if you sent any money to them, you can forget about ever seeing them again. Rule of thumb: any website that offers you more than few % yearly profit is a straight up scam. You should generally avoid all staking platforms as not your keys, not your coins.

doradus like a 8bit.ltd ?
8bit is even a more obvious scam. Selling ETH with a 30% discount lol.

2065  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Avoid altcoins and shitcoins because they cannot be stored personally. on: February 12, 2023, 11:26:42 AM
I can't give advice because I'm not knowledgeable enough to give it to a newbie, but with this little write up, I'd like to advise my followers newbies to stay away from all other coins and tokens except Bitcoin, and if anyone is holding Bitcoin in exchanges, he/she should try to move it out of exchanges for proper storage.
Since you admitted that you are not knowledgeable enough to give advice (and based on what you wrote you indeed aren't), then why are you giving advice? Contrary to the popular belief among newbies, you don't have to share guides and advice what to do in order to get merit as asking the right questions worth way more than pretending that you know what you are talking about.

The only correct thing that you wrote is that altcoins/shitcoins should be avoided, but not for the reason you mentioned (because you can store altcoins on  non-custodial wallets) and instead because 99.99% of them don't have any real utility and are mad for the sole purpose of making their creators rich.

2066  Economy / Economics / Re: Russian Gas ban - A problem for Europe or suicide for Russia? on: February 12, 2023, 10:32:30 AM
I did not state or expect that Europe would freeze over this winter. It was immediately obvious that the authorities would not allow this and the energy-intensive industry would become a victim of the energy shortage, which actually happened.
Maybe you didn't, but some other members said that without Russian gas and oil we gonna drive around in donkey carts and use firewood while in reality it was business as usual even in the poorest EU countries like mine.

The propaganda machine convinces people of a horrible scenario but from the mouth of a third party (so that they are not liable). Then in the future when something terrible (but less bad as that scenario like €11k gas bill or increased excess mortality due to cold homes (https://www.endfuelpoverty.org.uk/over-1000-dead-in-december-2022-due-to-cold-homes/)) happens people react less negatively or simply don't even believe it.
Regarding the excess mortality due cold homes, according to the article you linked, 50% more people died in December 2020 than it was during December 2022 while 10 year average for England is 7409 so it was business as usual there.

In total there were 1,047 excess winter deaths caused by living in cold damp homes in England in December 2022, this is up from 768 in December 2021. In December 2020 there were 1,518.
2067  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: do you check feedbacks score of traders? on: February 12, 2023, 09:55:27 AM
On a different note, can someone explain to me the benefits of using a custodial and centralized exchange such as Binance for P2P trading? What am I missing?
If you use the platform already, can't you just use the normal spot market to acquire the coins you want? Are the profit margins better for their P2P deals? Do you pay less in trading fees?
From what I saw, Binance P2P supports a lot of payment options to buy crypto (Advcash, Revolut, Skrill and hundreds more that I never even heard of) while if you want to buy let's say bitcoin on Binance using their regular way you will have few options only (debit cards, bank transfer).
2068  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: PayPal Crypto Holdings Report on: February 12, 2023, 09:43:24 AM
However, it appears that many still don't fully grasp the significance of the adage "not your keys, not your coins."
An average PayPal user doesn't care about "not your keys, not your coins", "be your own bank" and everything else that bitcoin stands for. They rather prefer sense of false security because why else would they use a service with such a high fees, other than being "protected" in case they send money to scammers.

PayPal is perfectly aware of that and for that reason they enabled withdrawals to external wallets 6 months ago (afaik still only available for US users) knowing that majority of people will still keep holding crypto on their platform.

I doubt that anyone here uses google translate for forum posting, and if he/she needs to translate to post he/she also needs a translator for reading the thread.
Its one thing to read posts in English (and understand them) and entirely different to actually write them at a decent level. You would be surprised how many members use Google translate and some of them are very well known and in the best campaigns on the forum.

IMO it's a good idea but the problem here is how to prove that the forum member uses AI tools upon posting.
True, that is the main problem with this idea and decision making shouldn't be relied on using those anti-cheat tools only but also checking prior post history. If you have a member who couldn't write a simple sentence in English and now he suddenly writes essays while anti-cheat tools shows an extremely high chance of plagiarism, you know what's going on there.

2070  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 Oscar Awards betting and discussions on: February 12, 2023, 09:16:36 AM
How do you get this kind of information?, is it public information the way the awards are selected?
Of course all this info is public, you can find bunch of articles about it. I am too bored to shared articles and you can easily find them by googling.

I would have thought that they had to watch the movies in order to select the winner, but apparently that's not necessary.
Well, theoretically they should watch all of them as they even get copies of the movies sent to them (so called "screeners") but how exactly to enforce that or even test whether they actually watched it or not. So in the end its sort of honor system and I you can imagine how that goes.

But then, how on earth can they choose the best movie if they haven't even watched it...
Via "eeny, meeny, miny, moe" or maybe they chose the best movie by how much it earned, like one of the members here suggested it should be done. Anything goes really  Grin
2071  Economy / Reputation / Re: Isn't that cheating? on: February 11, 2023, 09:09:40 PM
Remember that this 10$ giveaway is for all, where anybody joined bounty or not. bounty has been launched wrong way. according to above conversation its was just Airdrop and 5 minute work one time but Tranthidung launch this in bounty style.
Buddy, tranthidung was not the one who launched the bounty campaign, he was merely hired to share the announcement thread. Sure, he he should have been more careful when choosing what to publish (since its obviously a shitcoin project with anon team) but you as a bounty hunter should check it also. You accepted the risk by joining the bounty campaign that didn't escrow tokens so if you don't wanna end up getting screwed, have some standards.

kindly i request DT members to ask Tranthidung for this issue and ask to give details what actually happen.
I asked and he answered, but here it is again. Btw, have you tried contacting the team via email?

We are in contact. As far as I know, distributions are on the way. Bounty hunters must keep cooperated with the management team with confirmation via email to complete the distribution.
2072  Other / Meta / Re: [CHARTS] Brief monthly overview of the local boards activity on: February 11, 2023, 02:50:46 PM
Rikafip, I must admit that you surprised me with such an early publication of your report, so I only now saw your post.
Will this become a new practice now?  Grin
I wouldn't bet on it if I were you. Grin 2nd part of the month will probably be hectic for me and I had some extra free time on my hands so that's why I published the overview sooner than the usual.

As for the Croatian local board, we already know who our best and most valuable member is, but after a long time we have new members who are active, which is great news.
When will our local report be ready?
It will probably be published on Monday, or Tuesday morning at the latest.
2073  Other / Meta / Re: What cause the donation closure thread of Yahoo on: February 11, 2023, 09:56:49 AM
Any person would send evidence on its own without asking just to make a point.
So he should doxx himself just because of one butthurt ban evader like you? Yeah right. And even he did that, you probably still wouldn't believe him.

I am one of those few who donated him (and no, I don't think he was begging in his topic) and I don't think that he should provide any evidence because I know how easy is to fake those so if he was lying I wouldn't know anyway so why bother.

Plagiarism/paraphrasing

User:aliosky

So, first member @Fuso.hp wrote a shitpost in a SBF-Ross Ulbricht topic, and then a week later Aliosky came to the very same topic and paraphrased and shortened his post, maybe hoping that he will also get some merit for his post like Fuso.hp did. It takes a real talent to use plagiarised post in the same topic...

I didn't know anything about it at first, but after reading everyone's comments, I actually got to know what the real story is. I think there are two persons equally guilty one is for buying and selling various illegal drugs and various products on his website for which the court found him guilty and sentenced him to life imprisonment. Another FTX exchange embezzled all the wealth and here too the court found him guilty and sentenced him to 115 years in prison. But later, when his family filed a petition regarding the matter, the court ordered him to remain under house arrest. I think the law has made two judgments for two people here. Because one person is in jail for committing a crime but the other is under house arrest for committing such a big crime, it seems a little different to me. Many may have committed suicide after scamming this exchange. Because many people may have left all their accumulated wealth here. So I think the court has given two kinds of judgment to both of them here.
https://ninjastic.space/post/61706979

I had no prior knowledge of it, but after reading everyone's comments, I actually learned the full tale. I believe there are two people who are equally at fault. The first was found guilty by the court and given a life sentence for buying and selling various illegal drugs and other products on his website. Another FTX exchange stole all the money, and the court again found him guilty and gave him a 115-year prison sentence. Later, though, after his family submitted a petition, the court decided to keep him under home arrest. In my opinion, the law has rendered two decisions for two individuals.

Dunno if you still can't access Merit Dashboard, but I just tried it and works normally for me. As a matter of fact, I don't even remember the last time I got an error.
2076  Local / Off-topic (Hrvatski) / Re: Kutak za kulturni trenutak (filmovi, serije, knjige etc) on: February 10, 2023, 10:29:26 PM

Hah bas ga pogledao veceras. Slazem se, skroz nelos film i ugodno iznenadjenje, fali takvih old school nepretencionzih akcijskih filmova.
2077  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitcoin ATM Operator Coin Cloud Files for Bankruptcy on: February 10, 2023, 05:24:47 PM
I like ATMs. I have one nearby that chargets 3% of transaction, requires no KYC and you can sent coins from home and withdraw at the ATM. You basically transact with it online and get a text message to your phone with a confirmation, then go to the ATM, enter your phone or email and the ATM sends you another message with a pin code that allows you to withdraw cash.
Since I like to remain anonymous this is the best way to get some fast and anonymous cash in my area.
That's a very reasonable fee, kudos to your ATM operator. If my ATM had 3% fee I would still use it on the regular basis but I have never seen one with such a low fee (lowest was 4% I think). Regarding getting text message on your mobile phone, is it possible to avoid that part? I am asking because if you gave your ID to get a sim card (its becoming standard here in EU, no ID no SIM card) then you are not selling it anonymously.

I think it was the problem was in KYC. People like me were using ATMs exactly for that, but if it's changing most of their clients are going to leave. The only reason why I'd pay 3-5% per transaction is if I were to remain anonymous.
Unfortunately, mandatory KYC for BATM is just a matter of time. It is already in some countries and it will just get worse.
2078  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Quiz 2022] History of Bitcoin and Bitcointalk 🚩 on: February 10, 2023, 03:39:08 PM
Your disappointment is baseless, those who answered all the questions correctly are not necessarily what you think. Maybe they have previously studied the history of Bitcoin and Bitcointalk before registering here, even though the account is still a newbie it is not certain that the person managing the account does not have the slightest knowledge about Bitcoin.
Let's be realistic here, we all know how things work on bitcointalk. As soon as someone want to encourage people to do the quiz and share few merits, alt farmers will show up to try and scoop a couple of merits and they probably thought that they will get more merit if they show max result. No one in their right mind would study history of a forum they were never part of so of course brand new account that scored 21/12 cheated.

Although I am also a newbie let me say one thing.

I was disappointed with this person's answer on the quiz. Because he is a total newbie how he answered 21 questions correctly.
You are disappointed because you are (probably) new to this forum. If something can be abused around here, it will be. This is just how things work around here and I would be surprised if people didn't cheat on the quiz or if they didn't try to fish some merit. So, business as usual at bitcointalk.  Cheesy

2079  Local / Off-topic (Hrvatski) / Re: Kutak za kulturni trenutak (filmovi, serije, knjige etc) on: February 10, 2023, 03:29:04 PM
Jučer sam po drugi put pogledao Man Bites Dog i sjetio se zašto mi je na listi fav filmova Smiley)) Znači ako tražite nešto komplet drugačije, old school, s dozom crnog humora, onda def bacite pogled: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0103905/
Nema sta, pravi klasik mockumentary zanra.

Osim te serije, pogledao se i The Way Way Back, iznenadjujuce dobar coming age sa finom glumackom postavom (Carell, Toni Collete, Sam Rockwell) a napokon sam odgledao i All Quiet on the Western Front, njemacka ekranizacija istoimene knjige.
2080  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 Oscar Awards betting and discussions on: February 10, 2023, 08:12:52 AM
But the "preferential voting" system doesn't sound fair to me.
Idea behind this decision is that winner of Best Picture award should be the one that is generally more liked than the others (some say that's more fair) but all that makes is film makers trying to appease to everyone, calculating what would Academy like to see. And then we get movies like Green Book or CODA winning an award, instead of something like Roma or Dune (imho last year was the perfect time for a SF movie to finally win that award as competition was kinda weak).

@Rikafip. Is there a Ukranian candidate for Eurovision?
Of course there is, thinking about betting on them? Grin

I read recently an article on one Croatian news portal and they said that Ukrainians are again favorites (they won the last year's competition as well). Not sure if that ever happened, country winning it two times in a row. Since this is off topic I won't continue further on the subject.
