Lots of us used to think scaling was this ticking time-bomb and that we had to take drastic action to avoid an imminent catastrophe. But, as it transpired, the threat was never really that great. So we know better now. Experience tells me we can take the cautious approach. It's understandable that people want to see things happen quickly, but it's also crucial it's done properly. Personally, I'd rather it take a bit longer if it means there are fewer mistakes made along the way. There's no need for panic. All the other potential optimisations are being looked into as well, so remember that Lightning is only part of the equation. But capacity has effectively been reached, as evidenced by double digit (in USD) average daily transaction fees. It's a bit underwhelming that with so much money that has been floating around since 2017 L2 solutions aren't more mature over five years later. While 'catastrophe' is too strong a word, it's a loss both for Bitcoin (with some interest flowing into shitcoins) and Bitcoin's users (more money spent on transaction fees, small to medium payments depending on the traffic making less sense). |

As BitMaxz has pointed out, Amazon forbids unauthorised reselling. This is why trading GCs in general, regardless of platform and regardless of whether or not a gift card is carded is inherently risky. If I was taking on this big of a risk, I definitely wouldn't get my GCs from Bitpay at near spot price. I would demand at least a 20-30% premium on my coins. A discount of more than 20% has too high of a likelihood of being some sort of a scam. But anyhow, Bitpay should be liable to refund you or replace the GC at the very least. Keep us in the loop.
If they fulfilled their obligation by delivering a GC that wasn't fraudulently acquired and the problem rests solely with Amazon, why would they be liable? An argument could be made that they could warn people in a similar fashion to Bitrefill, but it doesn't even seem that OP did anything that usually tends to get mentioned among the typical red flag actions (fresh account, VPN, etc.), unless he's lying or missed something. |

Widzę, że chyba nie, w Electrum jest konsola, ale nie mogę rozgryźć czy jest odpowiednik polecanie ' getrawtransaction'...
W konsoli w Electrum opowiednikiem jest "gettransaction('txid')". Za pomocą "getrawtransaction" w Bitcoin Core można także dodatkowo uzyskać rawtx transakcji, których nie ma w portfelu, ale wtedy potrzebujesz mieć włączone indeksowanie transakcji (ustawiając "txindex=1" w bitcoin.conf albo uruchamiając bitcoind albo Bitcoin Core z argumentem "-txidenx"), co za pierwszym razem może trochę zająć, zwłaszcza na HDD, zajmuje to też dodatkowe ~30 GB. |

I absolutely don't condone deception, but as far as scamming and defrauding goes, this is all very tame by bitcointalk or cryptocurrency-sphere standards.
It seems counterintuitive to say you absolutely do not condone deceptive behavior, but then try to play down deceptive behaviors. When countless people lose large amounts of money to hacks and scams, usually with no recourse, it's hard not to notice what seem to be interestingly disproportionate levels of indignation shown towards the behaviour of someone merely using alts at a signature campaign, sometimes to the point of comparing it to a robbery #118. Do you believe a person willing to cheat on a signature campaign for money is not going to cheat on a no-fee raffle, if he believes he can't be caught? What odds would you give for this happening?
I have no idea, you'd have to ask them. Personally I believe the latter to be far worse. |

IMHO wzrost odzwierciedla ryzyko, zwłaszcza w kryptosferze. krążą spekulacje, że po tesla i Elon Musk, także apple chce teraz inwestować w BTC - my wszyscy możemy na tym tylko skorzystać! Jakoś nie potrafię sobie ich wyobrazić, wszystko starają się dobrze planować, lubią duże gwarantowane marże, oraz mieć wszystko pod kontrolą, a Bitcoin jest (z ich punktu widzenia) nieprzewidywalny. |

I have a script, I've let it run for 1 week straight all day 24h/24 in simulation mode and it didn't loose. Then, after that week I ran the same script but with real money, it survived 3 days and then it lost, so I've put more money and the second time it ran for <10hours before loosing.
Now I'm re-running the same script in simulation mode since ~10 days, always 24h/24, and didn't lost so far. Has anyone experienced this type of situation? Was it a coincidence or not?
It's called variance, I don't know what percentage of the bankroll you risk per bet, but the range 10-240 hours really doesn't stand out to me as anomalous. |

And yet the bankroll size barely budged. I think it didn't even move at all on bustadice. What other services do to successfully draw users away is offer subpar experience or make claims of 'getting hacked'. I had a similar accident on the Amazon Prime Gift membership. My account got locked the day I was expecting the shipping from the seller. They told me that I would never be able to use Amazon's website, my address and everything accosiated with me was banned. I explained them the situation, at first they didn't take care of it but after a lot of attempts, they seriously took my case and finally I am freely using my Amazon account. It's not a problem with the company selling you a stolen gift card. It's a problem that occurs often with Amazon when you try to buy something with a high value and pay it with a voucher code. It's something well know.
To be honest, Bitpay won't be able to help you much since they use a 3rd party and have no control over Amazon and no contact with it.
At best, they may refund the GC but I doubt it will happen since from their side it has been sold correctly without incident (the use is something else)
With this kind of problem, it's a nightmare to deal with Amazon to resolve such an issue. It had taken me a year and a half by acting with the role of an imbecile

So you are expecting a centralized exchange to offer service for free? If an exchange offers for free then its just a scam for sure. But Bitstamp has one of the highest fees of all exchanges. Probably to pay for all the investigations they conduct on verifying their users and to balance their earnings from a lower active user base (compared with Binance). |

If FOMA didn't break the rules then someone else would have taken his place and earned that money. Therefore FOMA breaking the rules did negatively affect whoever was next on DS's shortlist, even we accept the rationalization that FOMA didn't steal from DS/CM. The fact that we can't name the affected users in this situation doesn't mean they don't exist.
DS tends to look for users making posts on specific boards, IIRC, among other things, so it's not like every user has equal chances, and that's before comparing the quality of their posts. Also, since potentially affected users lost against FomA in the competition to be admitted, them being accepted would technically mean CM would be paying for posts of inferior quality to those of FomA.  |

While you make some good points, Internet trends have changed, etc., but this is bitcointalk, not altcointalk. At one point in time there were even discussions whether altcoins should be allowed on the forum in the first place. the censorship on here, it's no mystery why bitcointalk is "dying"
