1021  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Localbitcoins bans whole countries on: January 26, 2020, 09:28:24 PM
But I definitely need a better alternative, localcryptos is very dead in my region. Ugh, I am so mad right now. Any suggestions???

Here's a nice list of LBC alternatives: https://old.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/dyclf8/list_of_bitcoin_persontoperson_p2p_bitcoin/

Unfortunately most of them aren't very active. If you're not in a hurry to make a trade, it makes sense to post some offers and take advantage of an opportunity to make more profit on a trade.
1022  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Peter Schiff's Bitcoin wallet mystery is solved on: January 26, 2020, 04:21:43 AM
i've seen this dude's name mentioned recently a lot and i don't get why people have been talking about him when his actions are the common mistakes that a lot of newbies have been making and nobody talked about any of them.

It's only because he's a known personality in libertarian and goldbug circles which have quite an overlap with (earlier) Bitcoin users. His 2006 prediction of the real estate market driven recession brought him  a lot of new followers, many of whom later got involved in Bitcoin and were disappointed he didn't share their enthusiasm for Bitcoin. He's too heavily invested in metals to bother with Bitcoin so I don't see him changing his sceptical stance.
1023  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Localbitcoins bans whole countries on: January 26, 2020, 12:53:05 AM
It was announced this week by email to the users concerned. Contact by email is a lot better than a blog post that nobody spends the time to read, or a tweet in the sea. Can't really blame Localbitcoin if it abides by the laws, it's a result of the latest anti-money laundering directive.

Technically speaking, it's Finnish laws that they're complying with which were amended to comply with AMLD5. They could have relocated to a different EU country which would have bought them some time, or they could have relocated somewhere outside the EU/EEA.
1024  Economy / Exchanges / Re: LocalBitcoins and Tier verification's on: January 24, 2020, 04:13:47 AM
These countries have restrictions for crypto usage that is why they are restricting the traders from these countries?
Manye people trading from banned countries for long term why there is sudden changes on their terms of service?

No, it's more that users from these countries are perceived to be 'high-risk' from an AML and/or sanctions' compliance perspective.

The design and coding started in 2007.

P.S. Smiley
1026  Economy / Gambling / Re: bustabit – The original crash game on: January 21, 2020, 11:51:30 PM
I'm thinking about investing in bustabit's bankroll but I wonder how safe the funds are? Can the funds be hacked at some point in the future? How are they stored?

Most funds (>95%?) are stored in a cold wallet afaik so you have to trust devans that he won't abscond with the money or that he won't get himself into trouble that could result in him losing access to the site's funds. He has been running bustadice since October 2017 and bustabit since Feburary 2018 and hasn't given any reason to be distrusted.

There was one hack last year but only the hot wallet was drained and devans reimbursed the losses from his own pocket.

Out of all bankroll investment opportunities I consider bustabit/bustadice the safest.
1027  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: U. S. Congress proposes to free small cryptocurrency transactions from taxes on: January 20, 2020, 09:39:42 PM
Doesn't it say something different than the article and people here are understanding? My take is people won't have to pay taxes on transactions where they made $200 in profit or less. So if someone bought 1 BTC for $10000 and would buy something for $10150 after BTC price had increased to $10150, they wouldn't have to pay taxes on the $150.

1029  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Why has not any government stopped Bitcoin? on: January 20, 2020, 08:55:39 PM
Nope - surlely not. They havn't even started.

Check out last game was against Liberty Reserve - who won ?

Liberty Reserve was centralized company, of course it wasn't difficult to shut them down. There is no need for an explicit Bitcoin ban to cause harm, various AML/KYC regulations are enough if they make it difficult to exchange fiat money for Bitcoin or vice versa.
1030  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: How is KYC enforced in Bitcoin ATMs worldwide? on: January 20, 2020, 08:38:22 PM
On coinatmradar it often says whether a specific Bitcoin ATM asks for KYC. In some countries it's mandatory, in other it isn't, and in some no one knows so it's up to the operator. I wouldn't be surprised if there was mandatory KYC in all Bitcoin ATMs in the EU by next year's end, I'm not sure there's any other way with AMLD 5, countries will have to comply or face sanctions.
1031  Local / Polski / Re: Signature campaing - regularnie płatne pewniaki on: January 19, 2020, 07:47:19 AM
...There will likely be a few spots open next week or the week after. LiveCoin blacklist will no longer apply, but I will blacklist anyone who used specifically the Yobit InvestBox X10 signature for this application round.

1032  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-12-18] Why Bitcoin Adoption May Spike if Australia’s Proposed “Cash Ban” A on: January 19, 2020, 07:20:03 AM
We're far worse here in Europe compared to that, it comes at around 6000 euros.

In the EU the limit for cash transactions without having to file extra paperwork where at least one party is a business is set at 15k EUR. Quite a few countries have lower limits but it's not everywhere.

Seriously, who deas every day in cahs with more than 6000 euros?

Used car dealers, money exchange offices, some wholesalers who have customers paying in cash, and many more.
1033  Economy / Economics / Re: Is there a list for OTC for fiat? on: January 18, 2020, 03:07:24 PM
I didn't realize that dealing with large sums of fiat was an illegal transaction. I always thought about it like , if i have something you want , and you have something i want , we do a fair exchange and we go our separate ways after the transaction has been completed. Isn't that how trade works?

Depends on the country. Usually shouldn't be a problem if you do it as a private person, but it might be a problem if you do it as a business and don't KYC people you buy/sell to for transactions over certain amounts.

Anything below 5% is pretty good if it's fiat. Assuming BTC goes to 100k , then 5% of fiat would be about 5000USD , of which i am willing to part with for my sanity.

Make a topic in Currency exchange or search through that board.
1034  Economy / Economics / Re: Is there a list for OTC for fiat? on: January 17, 2020, 02:22:31 PM
What kind of premium are you prepared to pay? To completely avoid AML/KYC you'd need to find someone for an in-person transaction and that's going to cost 2% or more.
1035  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Status of WEX (World Exchange Services) on: January 16, 2020, 11:27:57 PM
down.

any update?

There wasn't anything interesting or of substance to be seen in that video as far as I remember when it was posted.

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-50821547

So nothing new. There's some stuff on Mayzus' fb page and on forklog but it's hard to make heads or tails out of it.
1036  Local / Polski / Re: Prawa autorskie do BTC przyznane dla Craig Wright! Czy to jest naprawdę Satoshi? on: January 16, 2020, 09:44:13 PM
Ludzie dawno zapomnieli z jakim przeznaczeniem stworzono BTC.

https://www.forum.bitcoinsv.pl

1037  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do we calculate the correct transaction fee to send? on: January 15, 2020, 10:12:21 PM
I've tried Earn.com and the ones you mentioned before, and I found all of them to be overestimating fees. I suggest this one, it's far more accurate: https://coinb.in/#fees

That's because some of these sites will only show estimations for transactions involving legacy Bitcoin addresses.
1038  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: European Crypto Firms Brace for Higher Costs as AMLD5 Takes Effect on: January 14, 2020, 02:36:34 PM
What can be positive in the long run is the fact that it will no longer be easy to start a business related to cryptocurrency without knowing exactly who is behind everything, which would mean less opportunity for scam people and run with the money. While some will not agree that increasing government interference is good for crypto, I do not see Bitcoin as something that can move forward without adapting to existing and new regulations.

Almost every time an exchange gets hacked or 'hacked', finding out who's running the business is not a concern. AMLD5 will do nothing to prevent scams from occurring, what it will lead to is higher regulatory barriers of entry, meaning lower competition, higher fees, lower limits, and a lower quality of service.
1039  Local / Polski / Re: Signature campaing - regularnie płatne pewniaki on: January 14, 2020, 02:22:17 PM

1040  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you go to blockchain/crypto events? on: January 11, 2020, 03:30:49 AM
I don't, I think most are a waste of time if you aren't a newbie or aren't looking to sell something, but newbies themselves should watch out not to get lured into wasting money on some altcoin scam.
