321  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Are there ever Reddit campaigns? on: August 29, 2016, 01:38:57 PM
I haven't seen many campaigns about creating a buzz on Reddit. Is this permissible? Do they ever happen?

It seems like most campaigns on here are Twitter tweets and sigs in exchange for altcoins..

Thanks

What would a reddit campaign have their participants do? Post about the advertised altcoin all over the place? Those kind of posts will get deleted in a flash.
322  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Bitcoin wallet from bitaddress.org can't be used by electrum on: August 28, 2016, 04:08:44 PM
You can't import them to electrum because they're not even valid.  They're not multiple private keys like used in multisig addresses, they're just one private key split using Shamir's Secret Sharing.
You can reconstruct them using bitaddress.org, you know.  It'll give you the combined private key which you can then import to electrum.
323  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why blocktrail detect a transaction but not by blockchain on: August 28, 2016, 02:58:54 PM
That's normal.  Explorers only shows transactions that they have inside their node's mempool, and nodes can choose transactions they want to add in their mempool based on their fee (min relay fee), so blocktrail might have different requirement from blockchain.info.  Also a transaction with very low priority and fee will have trouble getting propagated and won't appear in some explorers.  Once the transaction gets confirmed all explorers will show it (if their node is fully synced, at least).
324  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining at Macbook or iMac on: August 27, 2016, 10:03:42 PM
Anything that have GPU and/or CPU (plus the essential Motherboard, PSU, RAM, etc.) can be used to mine if you have the miner software, whether it'll be profitable or not is another story.  Mining with laptops or computer without proper equipment will make them break faster.  It's not uncommon for beginners to find their GPU/CPU fried the day after they started mining.
325  Economy / Lending / Re: what is a common interest rate? on: August 27, 2016, 03:06:23 PM
There are no industry norms.  Most lenders here take 10~20% interest, but most lenders here don't do 2 years loan.
326  Other / Off-topic / Re: Help me! Why is it they call gambling a game? on: August 27, 2016, 03:02:09 PM
Lol another one of those threads.

Allright, let's do a quick google!

Gambling definition:
1. play games of chance for money; bet.
2. take risky action in the hope of a desired result.

Investment definition:
1. the action or process of investing money for profit or material result

Game definition:
1. a form of play or sport, especially a competitive one played according to rules and decided by skill, strength, or luck.
2. a type of activity or business, especially when regarded as a game.

You can see from this that all 3 words can apply to each other. This means that when you're gambling you're always investing and in most cases you're also playing games (poker, dice, roulette, slots, sports, etc).
327  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it hard to create an altcoin? on: August 27, 2016, 02:44:46 PM
Create an altcoin.  Easy if you're just using some cheap coingen.  Not so easy if you're doing it from scratch.
Introduce it to exchanges.  Easy. It's just introducing.
Advertise.  Same as above.

What is hard is to come up with a good altcoin that are innovative and not buggy.  This is why you need some good developers and good marketing.
328  Other / MultiBit / Re: Something about Multibit Classic and fees on: August 26, 2016, 03:57:55 PM
OP, which version are you using?

Multibit Classic is no longer supported but you still can find the source code in Github and do the needed modifications.

I wouldn't recommend anyone to do that without knowing what they're doing.
329  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Fix error on: August 26, 2016, 03:54:32 PM
That's not primedice, it looks like some janky primedice clone called coindice. Our bet interface looks much prettier Smiley

I thought so, I've been using PD occasionally and those screenshot doesn't look like from PD.

Looks a lot like https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=507515.0 . Guess OP made his own dice site and expect us to fix their problem from merely seeing the screenshots...  Tongue
330  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain is charging high fees - $0.25 for sending 1 Bitcoin transfer on: August 26, 2016, 03:57:53 AM
Blockchain?  Are you talking about blockchain.info by any chance?  Most other wallets don't "charge" fees.  You can manually set your own fees.
331  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How to import wallet blockchain new wallet system HD to electrum on: August 25, 2016, 07:44:32 AM
Just make a new wallet and transfer all your coins there.  There's some ways to get the private keys but you can't import them to HD wallet (just import-only wallet) so transferring your coins is the best and easiest way.
332  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Lost blockchain.info password on: August 24, 2016, 09:19:41 PM
Yes , but i have add the "password hint" in my account and they say its useful if i lost my password they can send my this password hint in my email

how can i use this function?

( the screen is on a new wallet in my real wallet i have add a password hint )

Contact their support.  They will sent the hint to your email (but won't reset your account or let you back in without the password).
You can recover the funds using the 12-words passphrase too, btw.
333  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Lost blockchain.info password on: August 24, 2016, 08:22:23 PM
If you contact support, they will message you asking for info like apron date of registration, recent transactions and amounts, and if they are correct then they should let you back in.

Those infos are too easy to get if you have the email.
Also, quote from https://blockchain.info/wallet/security .

334  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Newbie Help on: August 24, 2016, 05:11:56 PM
Hi Mocacinno,

Thanks for the prompt reply. Herewith the txid: 5c34f17c458d2b9c73b013b9ba83b62f5be59f0ef954fdda5095b0d62ea3ddb5

I definitely meant to send  0.0686 and not 0.01816 btc. I can't understand how it happened as I checked the amount twice before I executed the transaction. Still, I'll follow your advice and contact the vendor, he seems a decent sort so just maybe he'll refund me. I know it's small beer but..........

Thanks again.

I think your problem is you didn't realize you're using mBTC as base unit.  That tx only sent 0.0686mBTC (0.039 USD), not 0.0686BTC (39~ USD).
You can change the base unit to BTC from Tools > Preferences > Appearance > Base unit.
335  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: CEX.IO attempted login on: August 24, 2016, 02:02:18 PM
Attempted login notifications simply means someone have tried to log in with your email or username (unsuccessfully most of the time).  You don't need to have any virus in your pc for that to happen.
I wouldn't worry too much about it.
336  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Newbie HELP on: August 23, 2016, 10:20:28 PM
yay! They took along time because of me being a new account. But now its under unconfirmed. how do i confirm it?

You wait for the miners to include your transaction in a block.  Shouldn't take very long if the fee is sufficient.
337  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Newbie HELP on: August 23, 2016, 10:07:00 PM
I think i sent BT to a random wallet. I gave the address to quickbt that i found under Receive<receiving address. Was this my wallets address or did i just send bt somewhere random? I just put in a requested amount for the amount i bought and it says pending. I have no clue what im doing and freaking out.. quickbt said it would take seconds but i don't see anything

It is your wallet address.  IIRC the pending status will change once you get the full requested amount of confirmed bitcoins.
Any incoming transaction should appear under your "History" tab.

Edit:
Looks like quickbt have a long history of transaction problems though...
338  Other / Meta / Re: members list temporarily disabled on: August 23, 2016, 09:55:00 PM
It was disabled months ago (see theymos' reply for why).  I think it was re-enabled for a short time, not completely sure though.
339  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Fix error on: August 23, 2016, 08:56:33 PM
What site is this?  Have you tried asking their staff about it?
340  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Import private key vanitygen on: August 21, 2016, 04:09:48 PM
i just can add address, so no option to add private key Sad(

See that blue "Import Address" button?  That's where you enter your private key.  That's what steven0021 was referring to, I believe.

Edit:
I think it's better to use other desktop wallet instead.  There's a list of desktop wallets here and you can see their features by clicking on them.
