321  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Joe's Signatureless Challenge: Win $25 + 8 Merits every week! (Round 6) on: April 25, 2018, 06:08:39 AM
@BTCforJoe

I participate in a lot of Content Creation (Video) bounty Campaigns where I am asked to make posts likes these:

-snip-

How do you proceed in these situations? Do you simply ignore those or you count them as low quality posts?

Well, a bit of both: I simply do not count those posts towards your entries for the round, given that you have at least 7 other quality posts for the round. Otherwise, the posts would count towards your score, but it would end up being a very low score because of its lack of quality.

Thinking about sponsoring for another week, but I want to have a slightly bigger impact this time Tongue

So I've come up with a little side-challenge for other people who are thinking of sponsoring this campaign.

I want to pledge another 0.01 BTC to be paid on Saturday, 21st of April.
But there's a catch...

I want to see some other people step up, so I will only send 0.01 BTC, if you get another 0.01 BTC in sponsorships from other people before Saturday, 21st of April (before 8PM UTC).

If that condition is not met, I'll just sponsor 0.005 BTC

Good idea or not?

Btw, I think you forgot to add me to the list of sponsors Wink

Great idea, but I haven't been able to revisit this challenge for over a week because of my unexpected schedule, so I'd wait on donating anything just yet Smiley We still have a good cushion in the account for now, so let's wait until we're in need of more funds to keep this going. Is that cool with you?

I'll make sure to add you to the sponsors! So sorry about that; it's been a shit week lol

One of the participant of this campaign : AleksNewman has been caught of copy-pasting by botany. Please ban him from the campaign.

He has been disqualified anyways, for lack of relevant posts for Round 6.

Good day Joe!

I joined signatureless challenge round 7.. I just want to confirm if I'm still in..  And if the there's a chance of winning..  I want to confirm/change if I use 3Q6AeMiP8vSaH1Q9U9LuV6fdMkMXjmFmbF as my greenaddress..
Thanks a lot!

Updated. Good luck! We'll see how close you are when I start the judging for Round 7. Sit tight!

Very well said! Took the words right out of my mouth lol

Agreed. However he logged in today, so at least he is still alive Smiley There's no reason to start the next round before Joe is done with the past two rounds.

Unless his murderer stole his laptop and he has it set to stay logged-in. Shocked
It's not that there's no reason to start the next round, there is no way to start the next round. It is Joe's challenge, afterall.

So after few months after I finish all the remaining bounties I will come back. What do you think?

I think that this type of thing need not be said. We would rather you drop the worthless bounties and join us, but you are free to do whatever you believe to be the best thing for you to do.

May be Joe should make a team now and distribute the small tasks like excluding the spam posters and posts and Joe can focus on evaluating the posts only.

I think a team might get in the way more than they'd maximize efficiency. Joe has earned themselves a bit of vacation time. We can be patient for the next round and the announcement. Allow the suspense to build and empassion you.
322  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Joe's Signatureless Challenge: Win $25 + 8 Merits every week! (Round 6) on: April 25, 2018, 05:58:06 AM
Hey all, quick update:

First of all, my most profound apologies for my absence for the past two rounds. I hope you guys don't mind, but I will award Round 6 and Round 7 after reviewing the entries this week. But I'm going to have to take the next two weeks off and resume the challenge again on May 6.

Real life has caught up, and unfortunately, I've been stuck doing some major freelance gigs that required grueling hours on a daily basis. By the time I had free time for myself, it was literally to snack on something and check my personal emails before I knocked out for the day.

I literally just submitted one of my projects, and have a few more, but felt the need to update you guys, which, trust me, I meant to do much sooner than I am.

Please please please forgive me for the hiatus, and I promise we will get back to the challenge as soon as I know I can dedicate the few hours this needs. I would hate to be in the same position again as for the end of Round 6, where I've left you guys hanging for this long because I've been too busy.

Also, for those of you that don't know, I've recently accepted a Marketing Director position for a new crypto company, and we are nearing the beta launch of our first service website. We're also nearing the launch of our first funding round, so that has also been taking a ton of my time lately.

I meant to update you guys sooner, but I had no idea that my workload would hit me like a ton of bricks.

Thanks so much for your patience, all, and I hope you can understand why I need to take this brief hiatus. I'll be sure to update you guys with details when I'm ready to accept applicants again for the next round, which will be Round 8, starting on May 6.

The spreadsheet will continue to be turned off for now, just to indicate that the challenge is currently on hiatus.

I'll leave the thread open until Thursday so you guys can discuss anything you need, but feel free to PM me with any questions you may have until the thread is re-opened again when the application process begins for Round 8.

Thanks again for your patience, and my most sincere apologies for my unannounced absence.
323  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Joe's Signatureless Challenge: Win $25 + 8 Merits every week! (Round 6) on: April 17, 2018, 10:16:41 PM
Hey guys, sorry, but I am having an extremely busy week and working on a few hours of sleep. I promise that I will get through this by end of day today!
324  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Joe's Signatureless Challenge: Win $25 + 8 Merits every week! (Round 6) on: April 16, 2018, 03:46:33 AM
Every week, the spreadsheet is taken down during the scoring process. Please do not request access to it; it will become publicly accessible again once the scoring is done.

For now, make sure to get in your applications for Round 7! And sit tight, a winner for Round 6 will be announced by morning!
325  Other / Meta / Re: Finally! 101 merit and 84 activity!! Celebration Post! My thoughts on merit. on: April 16, 2018, 12:17:54 AM
I’m just here for the pizza, but looks like everyone forgot to bring it.

Jerks.

Oh, and good job, bitmover; I always light up a bit when it comes to reviewing your posts on a weekly basis, and to watch the progression of merit growth for your account has been pretty phenomenal. I’ve said it before and I will continue to say it: this forum needs more members like you!

Here’s to the next 100 merits!

326  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BPIP problems on: April 15, 2018, 11:42:28 PM
I could throw down a couple bucks for this project. Just tell me which address to send it to, and how much will help you get the ball rollin'!

I think that the "Donation Address for Prayer Messages" (1CDyx8AUTiYXS1ThcBU3vy4SJWQq6pdFMH) is still valid.
@Vod : Can you please confirm my thoughts about this Address? 0.005BTC is ready to be send for one year of renting. Cool

That address is valid, but I created a new address just for BPIP donations.  I'll also create a page when I list the donators.

Looks like all the hacker did was boost interest in the project!  Smiley

Here’s a tad bit more support for a great cause. Keep it up, and whoever the hacker was, make sure to thank them lol. I believe there is always good, even where there is bad. Good luck moving forward!
327  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BPIP problems on: April 15, 2018, 11:42:45 AM
How long will it take to run initially to rebuild the database to the point where your aws instance can take over?
If it's only about 12-240 hours I can run it on my normal computer, if not, I'll purchase a vps from somewhere.

For the amount of time it would take me to reprogram the tool, I would want you to run it all the time. Smiley
It would take both of us 11-12 days.

Look into Amazon - they offer a free VPS with many OS for free - you just pay for usage over the free amount.
With my parsing tool running 24/7 it cost me about $3 last month.

I could throw down a couple bucks for this project. Just tell me which address to send it to, and how much will help you get the ball rollin'!

Before choosing a wallet, you should DYOR (do your own research). We all have our own choices and preferences when it comes to what we want in a wallet, but if you want to see what different types of wallets can offer you, check out this page: https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet

Clicking through to each type of wallet will give you a brief overview and description of what the wallet provides/lacks.

Before choosing a wallet, however, make sure that you understand how to keep your Bitcoins/wallet secure: https://bitcoin.org/en/secure-your-wallet

Welcome to Bitcointalk, and I hope you have a great time here!
331  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I need a bitcoin wallet to be anonymous on: April 15, 2018, 10:09:24 AM
Read this and fully understand it before deciding to choose a wallet: https://bitcoin.org/en/secure-your-wallet

As @OmegaStarScream stated, any wallet you choose leaves your bitcoin at risk, whether it's a hot wallet, hardware wallet or even a cold storage wallet and true anonymity is near impossible to achieve using Bitcoin.
332  Other / Meta / Re: I can not use function "Forgot Password". It says not approved! WTF??? on: April 15, 2018, 10:04:48 AM
By the way Satoshi did not create Bitcointalk,

Actually, Satoshi did, indeed, create Bitcointalk. The original forums for Bitcoin was hosted at bitcoin.sourcefourge.net (no longer active) before it was migrated here (bitcointalk.org) in 2009.

Welcome to the new Bitcoin forum!

The old forum can still be reached here:

I'll repost some selected threads here and add updated answers to questions where I can.

Nope. This is not okay. I'll change my feedback to a neutral one if/when you remove this line.

Your link was more-than-likely removed because it contained a referral link. If you simply post your TLD, you should be fine.

336  Other / Meta / Re: LoyceV's Merit source application on: April 15, 2018, 09:30:54 AM
I would like to join the other top-merited users of all time in this thread in endorsing @LoyceV as an excellent choice to become a merit source.

It's kind of awkward, honestly, to see certain merit sources (well, just one) voicing their particular methods in how they disperse merit while highly-criticizing others' methods and insulting them in slanderous ways. All the while, @LoyceV is sitting patiently twiddling their thumbs and undoubtedly sitting on a list of posts that are waiting to be merited Tongue

Do the forums a solid and make it happen, @theymos!

338  Other / Meta / Re: What is merit? on: April 15, 2018, 09:02:33 AM
What is merit? and how to get merit?
i im new in bitcointalk but i really dont know what merit is for! where can i get the merit and how to use it? please may i know your answer? thanks bitcointalk master for the answer..Smiley Grin

Being new is not an excuse for being lazy. Use the search feature next time.

For your reference, here is the link to the official merit topic: Merit & new rank requirements.

Can you kindly lock this topic now, so we don't get a multitude of spamposters that will answer the question over and over again? You can lock the topic by clicking on the "Lock topic" link in the bottom left of this page.

Thanks.
339  Economy / Digital goods / Re: [WTB] VCC $5US. Paying up to $8 in BTC/ETH on: April 15, 2018, 08:51:06 AM
Re-opened. I need a VCC with $5 on it. I’m willing to pay up to $8 in BTC/ETH. If you’re a Newbie or Jr. Member, you will get paid after the vcc is confirmed (used). Otherwise, I’ll pay first to anyone with positive trust. Post here or PM me with your price if you can make this happen. Thanks!

These guys distributed Ledger...

Just in case anyone takes your answer serious:

Blockbuster Video did NOT operate a distributed ledger.
They kept a private ledger for the movies that its customers had checked out at any given time. Blockbuster was a centralized organization that operated a centralized ledger.

While I know you were making an attempt at humor with your post, I just don't want anyone to take it serious as a "fun" or "whimsical" answer to explain what a distributed ledger is.
