3241  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [ANN] BITHD.com Razor (Card Design Hardware Wallet Released) on: January 11, 2020, 02:57:56 AM
You may consider adding changing this and doing some promotions in bitcointalk forum
They've sent me a message asking if I want a unit to test/review... I have provided my shipping address/contact details, so hopefully they send me one and I can give an independent, open and honest review of the wallet that they provide.

It looks like an interesting bit of kit and I'm keen to check it out!
3242  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: I allege that https://bitcoinvideocasino.com/blackjack stole 0.03 BTC from me on: January 10, 2020, 10:28:20 AM
Except in your video... As far as I can see, you still bet test credits after the deposit was made (and before refreshing).

I can see that you set the bet to 1 credit (550 credits), played a hand (549 credits) and then the test credit balance was affected (increased by 2 credits to 551 credits for the win), BUT your ACTUAL BTC balance was not affected (showing as 0 BTC with "you are playing Test credits" banner displayed).

Then, you refreshed and the full, unchanged 0.01 BTC balance (100 credits) was displayed (even though you had wagered AFTER the deposit was confirmed but before refreshing the page).

So, I don't see anything in your video that shows "actual" BTC being wagered until AFTER you refresh and the deposit popup is shown and the "Playing Test Credits" banner was no longer visible.

Or, to put it another way... I don't see any point in the video where the "you are playing Test credits" banner is visible and you are actually wagering real BTC.

Unless I'm missing something? Huh

Yeah, I was a bit quick and got in before Krogoth's traditional 2nd post! It was just pure chance I picked up my phone and got the email notification saying a new thread had been posted!

Boom it was the raffle thread, and I know how quickly it fills up! Tongue

Funded! With 32 satoshi fee.
Sorry for the delay, it was night here.
Thanks. and no worries... I'm generally not in any particular hurry with these sorts of things Wink

I'm busying experimenting with "Loop" at the moment... supposedly it allows you to create some inbound channel capacity on a specific channel by moving sats out through that channel "off-chain" and then "looping" them back to your wallet in an external "on-chain" transaction.

However, the minimum amount is 250,000 sats... and I am just getting a lot of "TemporaryChannelFailure(update=(*lnwire.ChannelUpdate)(0xc005cee160)" errors... so I'm guessing there just isn't the channel capacity between myself and the output point Sad

Anyway, feel free to post up a return invoice and I'll repay it...

BlueWallet says the payment is in transit. That usually means it failed, in which case I'll try again later.
I've been having issues with Bluewallet and lntxbot the last day or so... lntxbot had a bit of a brainfart yesterday... and since then, I get a lot of "no routes" and "Error: failed: WIRE_TEMPORARY_CHANNEL_FAILURE (reply from remote) (204). Erring: 611785x2234x0, 0340…1c80" type issues with it Sad

It generates weird API errors in Bluewallet
3246  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: I allege that https://bitcoinvideocasino.com/blackjack stole 0.03 BTC from me on: January 09, 2020, 07:32:45 PM
Firstly, I just want to re-iterate, that I think the site design is terrible.

2 ) My core point is that in the incident which is the subject of this thread (the 0.03 BTC deposit)  DID NOT actually refresh the page. I believe what happened was that (just like in the above video - if you take out me actually refreshing the page - this time KNOWING that there was an issue) I simply emailed customer support immediately upon seeing the first confirmation (actually, the "fourth" confirmation showed instead of "first" - because the deposit seemed to have gone through fast), and I guess I continued playing ASSUMING I was playing test credits. As a player it is really NOT my responsibility to have to refresh the page without any notification. But more importantly, the fact that the "1" test credit bet is showing as 0.0001 BTC (which is different from what the test credits showed as (although the page never changed) is, to me, a sign that there is something "not right".

Having said that, I'm a bit confused as to why you think that the "1 credit/0.0001 BTC" bet after you transaction was confirmed proves anything? Huh

As far as I can tell, 1 credit == 0.0001 "btc" when playing test credits AND "real" BTC. You were playing 10 credits == 0.001... so 1 credit == 0.0001... I'm struggling to understand why you think that the 1 credit/0.0001 bet that you made, after your deposit has confirmed but you haven't refreshed, means that you are now playing real BTC? Huh

As far as I can see, after you did refresh the page, your balance shows correctly as 0.01 BTC. If you were playing "real" BTC, it should have been showing as 0.0101 (to account for the "win")... but it doesn't, it shows 0.01... then you play the next hand and win and you see the 0.0101 BTC balance.

I would also point out that before you recorded the video, there appears to be a bunch of 0.01, 0.02 and 0.03 (test credit) bets that were made... that would be 100, 200 and 300 credits. So you assertion that you only played 10,20,40 credits during your test appears to be incorrect.

You seem to be getting your credits/btc mixed up... Huh
3247  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: I allege that https://bitcoinvideocasino.com/blackjack stole 0.03 BTC from me on: January 09, 2020, 08:40:16 AM
TwitchySeal is right... poor UI/UX isn't a scam. At the end of the day, you deposited 0.03BTC and then wagered it on Blackjack. Granted the site design is pretty awful, and they should probably take steps to prevent something similar in the future, but it does not make them scammers... unless you have some 'smoking gun' emails that reveal that there was intent and that they purposely designed it that way to trick people... as opposed to simply being incompetent.

Is this a new feature... or was it always there?

Does that message not change after you deposit?  Huh

My claim for 0.06 BTC is based on the logic that my decision to bet the additional 0.03 BTC was due to the trickle down effect of being DECEIVED into thinking I was betting "test" credits when in fact I was better "real" credits
No-one forced you to chase those loses. You willingly deposited and then played that money on a completely separate site. Claiming that Bitcoinvideocasino are responsible for that is ludicrous. Perhaps you need to take a look at your gambling habits and accept some personal responsibility for the extra 0.03BTC that you lost?

Best of luck with your claim, but this is more of a customer service issue than a scam situation.
3248  Other / Meta / Re: [Help]Have a question about appropriate section. on: January 09, 2020, 04:26:20 AM
I already read about copper membership but instead of "buying" member rank, i would love to rank up on my own efforts.
It doesn't "buy" you member rank... you will stay at your current rank (ie. Jr. Member). You just get some of the privileges of the "member" rank in terms of being able to include links in your signature.
Allows you to post images even if you are a newbie, reduces the time-between-actions limit, and provides some of the same benefits as being of natural Member rank.

So, you'll still get to enjoy "ranking up" on your own efforts. Tongue

3250  Other / Meta / Re: Does this tread really deserve the attention it has got? on: January 08, 2020, 10:53:52 PM
In any case, it looks like The-Devil got himself in some hot water with a few DT members and I'm still trying to figure out why (I haven't read this and the other thread in their entirety yet).
It would appear that The-Devil was attempting to farm merit... either by using an alt account or a "friend" to post some sort of question in B&H which The-Devil had a pre-written answer for.

As per the timestamps in the screenshots here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5215242.msg53538254#msg53538254

You can see the time between the original question being asked, and the answer being posted was measured in seconds. Maybe 1.5 minutes for the first 2 posts. So, The-Devil was either frantically F5'ing in the board... spotted the question, then hammered out an answer like a madman... OR he knew the post was about to be made and already had an answer for it.

It seemed to garner a few merits from people... and then TMAN really drew attention to it all by dropping 50 merits on the guy.

As to whether or not the accusation is correct, it's hard to be 100% certain... but if you look at the post history, then it's fairly clear that the typical posts this user was making are of the "Yes I agree with [idea posted in OP]. I think that [idea in OP] is due to [related thing]. [related thing] is the cause of [idea in OP]. I also like [related thing]"-type posts Undecided

For them to have seen the post, read it and then created, typed and posted such thoughtful answers in 90 seconds is a bit of stretch.

Hey mate... ok, experimenting more with LND... Seems like my Bluewallet+lntxbot combo isn't working at this time, apparently the lntxbot is a bit "broken", so I can't send sats to myself. Sad

3252  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Make outpoint copy feature relevant again on: January 08, 2020, 09:41:53 PM
Go ahead and put it on GitHub... It's as much for feature requests as it is for "bugs" (there is even a feature request 'tag' that the Devs can use).

In any case, it's more likely to come to the attention of the Devs on GitHub than it is here.
3253  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: 'utf8' decode error by opening the wallet?! on: January 08, 2020, 07:29:25 PM
Sounds like the wallet file is corrupted after the restore.

Are you sure that it is an Electrum wallet you have restored? Was it encrypted? If not, have you tried opening it with a text editor to see what the contents look like?
3254  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: 0.19.0.1 keeps hanging while syncing coins on: January 08, 2020, 09:30:33 AM
I have been running 0.19.0.1 on Win10 x64 since it was advertised in the "news" bar at the top of BitcoinTalk... I have not seen any "Not Responding" errors with this release since I have been using it. Huh

And that's running on a crappy old i5-3570k, with 8 gigs of RAM and the blocks folder on an HDD... that is also running an Electrum server and an LND server and a shitton of other services and background apps.

Is there anything in your debug.log that might give an indication as to why it is "not responding"? The next few times that it freezes... open/refresh your debug.log in a text editor and see what the last few lines say. See if it is outputting the same things each time it freezes.
3255  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Using Electrum with a Hardware Wallet? on: January 08, 2020, 07:15:53 AM
Looks like I was wrong... Ledger Live now supports "bech32" aka "native segwit" addresses! Wink I've edited my guide above!

So, you need to figure out which address you sent your bitcoins to... is it a "1", "3" or "bc1" address in Ledger Live? Check which "account" has the Bitcoin in it... and see what addresses that account is using, then make your choice accordingly.

Also, what account "number" are your bitcoins in in Ledger Live? If your account number is higher than 1 (ie. it displays as "Bitcoin 2"), then you will need to change some things during wallet creation in Electrum to see your bitcoins.
3256  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Using Electrum with a Hardware Wallet? on: January 08, 2020, 05:19:20 AM
You probably should not have edited the OP like that... it makes the thread very hard to follow and confusing, as the responses don't line up with the questions any more!

You should either have started a new thread, OR... simply asked the next question you had in a new post!

Anyway... to answer your new question:
I got Bitcoin on my Ledger Nano S and it shows it only on Ledger Live but not on Electrum Wallet. How do I get my Bitcoin to show on the Wallet?

Do I use the "Public Keys Export Approval" or some? I'm not exactly clear on what that is or does when I have tried to Google Search it?
No. You do not need to export anything from Ledger Live or your Ledger Nano S... follow these steps:

BEFORE you start:
- Determine what address "type" your Bitcoin is on, by looking at your "receive" address in Ledger Live. You need to know if your addresses start with a "1", a "3" or with a "bc1". You need to know this later on in Step 8! Wink
- Once you know the type of address, disconnect you Ledger Nano S and make sure that Ledger Live is NOT running.

Creating your Ledger Nano S wallet in Electrum:

1. In Electrum, select "File -> New/Restore"... Electrum will prompt you to enter a wallet name, give it something descriptive so you will be able to identify it easily in the future:

2. After entering the name, Click "Next" and Electrum will prompt you choose the type of wallet. Select "Standard Wallet":

3. Click "Next" and Electrum will prompt you for the type of "Keystore" that you wish to generate. Select "Use a hardware device":

4. Click "Next" and Electrum will prompt you to connect your device:

5. Make sure your device is connected, you have entered your PIN to unlock the device and you have selected the "Bitcoin" app on the device and you see:

6. Click "Next" in Electrum to get it to connect to your device, and it should be identified and you should see something like this:

7. Click "Next" in Electrum and it will ask you about the "Script Type and Derivation Path":

8. Determine your Bitcoin Address type from Ledger Live:
- If your wallet in Ledger Live has addresses that start with a "1", then select "legacy (p2pkh)" option.
- If your wallet in Ledger Live has addresses that start with a "3", then select "p2sh-segwit (p2wpkh-p2sh)" option.
- If your wallet in Ledger Live has addresses that start with a "bc1", then select "native segwit (p2wpkh)" option.

9. Click "Next" in Electrum and it will ask if you want to encrypt your wallet:
- If you want to be able to open your Electrum wallet and see your Bitcoins (but not be able to spend), WITHOUT needing to have the Nano S connected, UNCHECK the box
- If you want the wallet to ONLY be able to be opened with the Ledger device connected/unlocked, then make sure the box is checked.

10. Click "Next" and your wallet will be created and synced and you should see your transaction history:

Troubleshooting:

IF you do NOT see your transaction history... and the wallet is connected and not syncing (Green Dot):

Then check on the "Addresses" tab... (You might need to use "View -> Show Addresses" to see this tab) and make sure that the addresses you see start with the same prefix as the ones in your Ledger Live account where you can see the bitcoins. If they are different, then you selected the wrong option at Step 8, go back and start from the beginning and select the other option.

"1" == "legacy (p2pkh)"
"3" == "p2sh-segwit (p2wpkh-p2sh)"
"bc1" == "native segwit (p2wpkh)"

You MUST select the correct option at Step 8, or it will not generate the same addresses as your Ledger Live account. Remember "1"-address == "legacy"... "3"-addresss == "p2sh-segwit"... "bc1"-address == "native segwit".

EDIT: NOTE: Ledger DOES NOT support "bc1" addresses ("native segwit (p2wpkh)" option)... DO NOT try and use this with your Ledger Nano S if you want to be able to view on Ledger Live as well! Looks like they support native segwit! YAY! Wink

If you see "blue arrows": , then your wallet is still syncing... just wait until you get "green dot".

If you see "red dot": , then there is something wrong with your network and it's possible the correct balance/history won't be shown, check the network settings by click on the red dot and perhaps try changing servers.

3257  Economy / Reputation / Re: Copper Member - MarcoPololink - with ALTS - Copy Paste - plagiarism on: January 08, 2020, 03:49:46 AM
I've gone through and reported basically every single "good project"-type post and all the "OP quote" posts in that thread... in fact, I believe that the OP/project is actually breaking a fundamental rule with this this "requirement":
8️⃣reply anything about our project on this thread, then summit your reply link.[optional]
Sure, they've marked it "optional", but it's still encouraging ridiculous comments and of course the giant OP quote spam.

As per the forum "rules":
15. No on-forum altcoin giveaways. [6][e]

As per the references...
Most giveaway threads are no longer allowed in the Alternate cryptocurrencies sections. From now on, posting or replying to such threads could result in being banned. Existing threads will be locked.

Specifically, you are not allowed to give people any incentive to post insubstantial posts in your threads. You can't offer to pay people who post their addresses, usernames, etc. You can do giveaways off-site and link to the giveaway page in a thread, but you can't give people any bonus for replying to your thread.

IMHO, the entire project should be banned... and possibly most of the 1 post new account sign ups should probably be nuked! Undecided  Angry
3258  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum Personal Server on Windows 7 on: January 07, 2020, 10:01:50 PM
Awesome, glad you got it sorted... I was going to say that it looked like either the port was closed, or that your bitcoind wasn't configured to accept incoming RPC connections. The "-server" part is probably what fixed it if you didn't already have that in bitcoin.conf Wink

One more piece of advice... if you see errors when trying to connect using Electrum. It might be because, as far as I'm aware, electrs still doesn't support direct SSL connections, you need to use a proxy... and Electrum tries to use it by default.

So, I created an "Electrum - Local" shortcut within Windows... that runs as follows:
Code:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Electrum\electrum-3.3.8.exe" --oneserver --server localhost:50001:t

It prevents my Electrum from connecting to anything other than my local server (--oneserver)... and it specifies that it should just use ordinary "tcp" connection... that's the "t" part on the end of the server spec.

Not having SSL isn't a huge deal for me, because this is a "personal" server, so it's all internal communication. If I was going to open this for external connections (if I wanted to be able to use Electrum from my Android phone for instance), then I'd investigate setting up the SSL stuff.

EDIT:

Ok, so mentioning SSL got me curious about how hard it was to setup... the answer is... Not very Wink

I installed the prebuilt NGINX using apt-get as outlined here, created some SSL self-signed certs using openssl as outlined here (I just changed "apache-selfsigned" to "nginx-selfsigned" for the .key and .crt)... and then added the NGINX .conf changes as specified in the electrs docs

Started up NGINX, then connected using Electrum with a new SSL shortcut:
Code:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Electrum\electrum-3.3.8.exe" --oneserver --server localhost:50002:s

et voilà... Electrum running using SSL... at some point, I might attempt to make this externally accessible, so I could connect from external networks. But for a "proof of concept" it was pretty easy to do.

3260  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Exporting xprv from Bitcoin Core HD wallet on: January 07, 2020, 08:22:03 PM
Directly copying the wallet.dat file isn't recommended since it may not have everything you need to restore your wallet. You should use the option in the file menu or the RPC command. This consolidates all the data into one file for you.
Really? I was under the impression it is simply creating a copy of the wallet.dat, as all that option seems to do is create a copy of your "wallet.dat"... it isn't creating an archive or anything like that. Or are you saying that the GUI/RPC option makes sure that the wallet.dat is "updated" with current data and then "copied"?
backupwallet "destination"

Safely copies current wallet file to destination, which can be a directory or a path with filename.

Also, I probably should have mentioned earlier that if you *are* going to be manually copying the wallet.dat, you shouldn't do it while Bitcoin Core GUI or bitcoind is actually running. You should make sure that it is shutdown first.

Which then also begs the question, does shutting down the GUI/bitcoind leave the wallet.dat in a state similar to using the "Backup wallet" option? Huh
