Question... will electrs download/build its own DB now? I guess yes, but will that be about 20-30% of the bitcoin DB?
Yes, it builds it's own database... my "electrs" dbDir is currently ~56gigs. Note that this in addition to the Bitcoin Core DB (which is currently ~324gigs)... you still need the Bitcoin Core DBs as well! Also, how about WLS moving it to another PC? is this possible? Apparently you can... the WSL command (included when you setup WSL within Windows) has an --export command which will export a specified distro to a "tar" file and an --import argument that will allow you to then import that distro to another PC... Arguments to manage Windows Subsystem for Linux:
--export <DistributionName> <FileName> Exports the distribution to a tar file. The filename can be - for standard output.
--import <DistributionName> <InstallLocation> <FileName> Imports the specified tar file as a new distribution. The filename can be - for standard input.
--list, -l [Options] Lists distributions.
Options: --all List all distributions, including distributions that are currently being installed or uninstalled.
--running List only distributions that are currently running.
NOTE: I have not used this, so I've not experience with actually using it. I'd suggest trying Google for more info.

Is there a way of doing this that I'm not aware of or something?
Yes... there is: It'll popup a little message: And display the receive address on the device... and you can then compare. Note however, that clicking "approve" or "reject" on the device doesn't seem to have any real effect on Electrum, it'll still let you "use" that address if you click "reject". So if it doesn't match, it's on YOU to do something about it!

What directory are you trying to execute the "cargo run" command from? Based on that error, it seems like you are not in the "electrs" directory, but in your home directory. After cloning the electrs git, you need to "cd electrs" before you do the "cargo build" and then "cargo run" commands

If by "VBOX" you mean Oracle Virtual Box, then I am fairly sure that allows you to create and mount shared drives/folders... you'd need to set up one for either the drive that your Bitcoin Core datadir is on, or for the datadir itself. "electrs" needs to be able to read the Bitcoin Core folder... as you pass it in with the --daemon-dir commandline argument when you start electrs.
WSL appears to have full access to the Windows file system with all my drives available in /mnt (/mnt/c, /mnt/e, /mnt/j for C:, E: and J: etc), so it's very easy... in my case: "--daemon-dir /mnt/e/Bitcoin"

Hi, I recently wanted to backup my Bitcoin Core HD (hierarchical deterministic) wallet. Unfortunately, Bitcoin Core currently doesn't make it easy, so many of you need a tutorial how to.
Not easy? You simply do as Abdussamad suggested and use the backup wallet option in the menu of the GUI or just backup the "wallet.dat" file directly if you're not using the GUI... how is that not easy?

Bitcoin Discussion is considered lost board (defeated by the spammers), and many have it on ignore. Let's look at some users' history posts : cheezcarls, DreamStage, cryptozinkThe intention of all three is more than obvious, but if you report them on any basis, the report will remain unhandled. At least mods should move their threads to Press board (what deserves to be posted there), and everything else should be deleted because it is advertising in posts. Seems like you might have triggered something there Lucius... I note that at least one of those 3 is now attempting to claim they're just "sharing information" I mean at what point do you say "Ummmm if I wanted to read the 'news' from cointelegraph, I'd just go to cointelegraph and look at it"... They seem to almost be linking every single news article from that site!!?! *Source News here* (Not click campaign, just sharing information)
cryptozink just needs to be banned... 99% of their posts are designed to drive traffic to their own site and basically have no substance at all. That is the sort of stuff that should be nuked.

It shouldn't really matter if you're trying to spend dust balances... You'll just pay a lot in fees The only time "dust" matters is if you try to send or create a dust UTXO. That's what will generally trigger nodes to refuse your transaction for "dust". Transaction total size: 2722 bytes In any case, I don't think you're spending that many UTXOs... with a transaction size of only 2722 bytes (spending UTXOs from transactions that obviously pre-date SegWit)... you're probably only spending around ~15-18 UTXOs. depending on if you're using compressed or uncompressed keys. So I doubt you're spending from "100 plus addresses". without the actual transaction details, it's difficult to know why your transaction isn't propagating properly. I had hoped one of the external services might give you a "reason" if you tried to use them instead of simply trying to broadcast from Bitcoin Core/bitcoind yourself.

Do you have the latest version of Bitcoin Core (currently 0.19.0.1) downloaded, installed and fully synced? If not, then there is no way that Armory will be able to show you your bitcoins (and therefore it won't let you spend them either). Armory reads the Bitcoin Core blockdata to see transactions that relate to your wallet... and it uses the Bitcoin Core RPC system to send out transactions.
If you don't want to have to wait until Bitcoin Core is fully synced (will likely take a day or three, and require something like 280gigs of harddrive space/bandwidth)... then you other option is to export the private key for the address that you sent the coins to. You can find the private key by following this old guide of mine: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4746784.msg43255691#msg43255691I would recommend that you download and install Electrum from here: www.electrum.org/#downloadCreate a new wallet in Electrum and choose the "Import Bitcoin Addresses or Private Keys" option, then paste the private key that matches the one for your Armory address. You may need to prefix it with "p2pkh:" to make it generate the correct address in Electrum. So when you import into Electrum you have to enter it as: "p2pkh:YOUR_PRIVATE_KEY_GOES_HERE". for instance: p2pkh:5Kb8kLf9zgWQnogidDA76MzPL6TsZZY36hWXMssSzNydYXYB9KF

Did you try broadcasting the raw hex using a broadcast tool on an external site like blockcypher or coinb.in? If so, did you get any error messages or did it broadcast successfully? I'm curious as to why the transaction appears to be "valid", but is not propagating... as mentioned earlier, there must be something "non-standard" about your transaction causing nodes to refuse to relay it... hopefully one of the broadcast tools might give you a clue as to what that "something" might be.

its all a bit shit really as after you put your money up I actually wanted to be proved wrong as I was tempted to join you in the test! Would have been cool if we'd all been proven wrong... but alas, no "magic beans" as yet Commission "cut" to what? To 0%? Or from 30% to 25%? Why not say "commission free"? This seems like deliberately vague wording. I'm pretty sure it is 0%... note that that was just one specific quote that I copy/pasted from the Telegram chat. It has been mentioned several times, so at this point, I am fairly sure it is "zero commission". What will be interesting to see is if the cutoff point will be a users "high tide" mark (so once you reach a new "high", you'll only pay on winning trades above that)... or if it will simply be your initial deposit amount.

"Do not put the cart before the horse" (english proverb)
Exactly... we all know the winning block was actually: 611,559 BTC.com 1,274,309 12.60202762 BTC 5 minutes ago 00000000000000000008c1eef0fe3ae513a909c811c3df32ec6f8bc0571302c9
Which makes ME the winner! w00t! Seriously tho... we need to wait until Krogoth announces which block is going to be the "winning block"... it isn't necessarily just the first block after all the slots are full. Krogoth will announce "let's roll with block #xxxxxx" and then we wait

The token file section of the tutorial is a good place to start: https://github.com/gurnec/btcrecover/blob/master/TUTORIAL.md#the-token-fileYou're probably wanting the "wildcard" section: %p - any single ASCII letter, digit, or symbol
That should be good if you didn't use "space", "tab", line feed" or "carriage return" in your password... then you add in the "number of characters" notations to specify what length of password it should be looking for. For instance, to search for all possibilities of passwords between 3 and 8 characters long that is made up of ASCII number+character+special: %3,8p
Or... if you know the exact length... you can do something like: %10p
That will search for all passwords that are 10 characters long... and made up of ASCII number+character+special NOTE that the token file is "case sensitive"... so be careful with %p and %P... they mean very different things!

The "credit" is to be used to pay for the profit commission on the new "platform". I'm kinda interested in seeing how this "platform" is actually setup... My understanding is that instead of claiming 30% of your overall monthly profit, it was going to claim 30% of your "per trade" profit (and why you need to deposit some money directly on the platform)... you need to deposit 1-2% of bankroll on our platform once a trade is concluded, the commission is taken from our platform credit and distributed automatically Which seems pretty fucked up to me if you're making 1-5% gains here and there and the owner is taking 30% of that... and then you stand the possibility of losing 30% of your entire balance, which the owner has no risk in. Owner is going to be making money hand over fist and then the users get "fisted". Having said that, I vaguely recall that it was going to be setup to only take those trade profits once you were "above your baseline" and actually trading in profit... Lifetime Free VPS and 0 entry fee on the platform. Automatic commissions and affiliate payouts after every trade with commission cut if global user ROI is negative. We can't rely on other form of commission since we dont want to add entry fees and monthly payouts can be exploited by users creating new accounts every month. What we can do is keep the business model where we earn only if users earn and incentivize user's recovery if they unuckly start with a loss and go in negative roi since luck can affect short term but not long term I guess we'll have to wait and see how it is actually implemented... I think I'll keep this experiment running (assuming I still have funds when the platform is up ) and see how it all works... I'm due for a fairly large "credit", so it won't really cost me anything in commissions for a bit

Regading the 13, I would never guess what it was. There should be a tip somewhrere that you are looking for two words. Maybe the two words should be put toghter without the underscore.
Generally, in crossword puzzles a multiword answer is listed with a hint to the number of letters in each word... like this: "The most important part of Bitcoin (7,3)"... and they don't use _'s to separate words, they just run together... like this: "privatekey" Still, a fun 5 minute diversion. Thanks for the puzzle...

Another "check out this article: <LINK TO A REFLINK BLOG>" spammer'Digital Marketer' Recommending "cloud mining" in 2020... Any mods care to comment if reporting these types of posts is worth it? Is this "link to reflink blog" type of stuff breaking Rule 24?

As ETFbitcoin stated... have you actually checked what is in your debug.log after you try to set the directory and Bitcoin Core shuts down with the error?
