3321  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: WE NEED A HALL OF FAME? on: May 10, 2022, 03:04:11 AM
I made this post because i think we, the community of gambling of bitcointalk need a kind of Hall of Fame.

What im saying?. Some like a thread that show all the winner of major events like, big Poker tournaments, Predictions pools.

That would be fine if you could make it a sticky at the top of the section, but if it's just another thread, I'm not sure, because with the movement here it would tend to disappear buried among the many other threads, and I don't think there are so many events to keep it constantly updated. I'm not saying that it can't be done this way, I just think it would be better to have a sticky but I doubt that you can convince the moderators to put it.

3322  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto NFT is illiquid and prone to a big loss on: May 10, 2022, 02:55:48 AM
NFT is just illiquid and prone for a big loss.

As for it being illiquid, it's like art. Art in general is not very liquid, although it is usually sought after by rich people as an investment, which pays off over the years. But for that you have to know how to choose. With NFTs, which are digital art, the same thing, most of them are very illiquid, and on the way to the bear market, as 99% of them are going to lose value or go to 0.

I'd say in short NFT is scam.

Why should someone need to pay ridiculous amount to obtain an art while you can actually download it for free lol. Since crypto is pseudonymous where you can see which address send the token and which address send the NFT, but you don't know who behind of those address. It's possible a same person bought his own NFT with huge amount money to make people think this art is really expensive, so when this art is hyped, people really want to buy it. Easy money for him and the buyer will rekt.

I think that apart from the fact that in some cases it is a scam as you mentioned, it is a new market in which a bubble has formed and burst, so the vast majority of people who have invested in them are going to lose money.

3323  Economy / Economics / El Salvador close to default? on: May 09, 2022, 03:22:03 PM
I am going to put a news that I do not know to what extent to believe, because there are many economic interests in propagating FUD about El Salvador and Bitcoin, but if we enter a bear market I think there may be some problems.

El Salvador's bitcoin bond reportedly hasn't lured a single investor, and markets are bracing for a default on conventional debt.

Quote
Investors aren't flocking to El Salvador's bitcoin bond, and in fact, the crypto-backed offering hasn't drawn a single buyer, according to Bloomberg.

Millennial president Nayib Bukele is seeking $1 billion for the crypto-backed bond, though instead of financing he's received skepticism from credit agencies and the International Monetary Fund.

The IMF previously criticized Bukele's call to make bitcoin legal tender, and has called for the government to reconsider its reliance on the cryptocurrency.

Now, El Salvador's conventional bonds due in 2032 yield 24%, a steep level that suggests markets perceive the debt to be high risk and are bracing for a default. Bloomberg data shows that yields on El Salvador's conventional bonds have fallen further than every other nation except those of war-torn Ukraine.

When Bukele first debuted his plan for bitcoin bonds in November, the nation's dollar debt hit an all-time low, Bloomberg reported. In February, Fitch Ratings slashed El Salvador's rating to CCC, pointing to its increased dependence on short-term debt and limited financing sources. However, El Salvador's finance minister recently said there's "zero risk" of a default.

I am not very fond of believing politicians in general, and even less so when they deny something. The fact is that if the bond has failed to attract investors, if the price does not take off, and we even enter a bear market, if adoption there does not take off either... I do not know, I do not see a bright future in the short term, although I think Bitcoin is a good bet for the long term for the country if it manages to hold on through hard times.

What do you think?

3324  Economy / Speculation / Re: 33333 on: May 09, 2022, 06:20:24 AM
I'm not saying that there can't be some manipulation in Bitcoin, but if there is in such a decentralized system, there is nothing in the financial markets that is not manipulated.

Honestly, don't over think it. You just check the price at the right moment and the right time, hence you landed upon the 33333 number. Tongue If I remember correctly, at the price top I also saw screenshots of 66666.

I too think that the 33333 number is a just a coincidence. It catches your attention because they are 5 numbers the same but they are only 5 numbers the same as 34519. The 33333 in binary is 1000001000110101, and in quinary system it is 23202330. The repetition of the number in hexadecimal system is somewhat arbitrary.

So the question is, if all the good news stop, and we go full bearish, where do we stop and what do you think will trigger the change in trends?
Probably controversial opinion: bitcoin likely stops dropping once the S&P500 stops dropping. Like it or not, BTC and the S&P is still highly correlated.

This is only true in the short term; in the long term there has not always been a correlation, far from it.

I regarding the price, when we entered this year 2022 I already said I was pessimistic. I don't see Bitcoin beating last year's ATH this cycle, no matter how much good news we have like stompix mentions. And I also think the returns going forward are going to be more modest. Forget 20x between cycles or higher returns. That said, bitcoin is worth buying for what it is.

If we had bad news and FUD, I don't know. If we had a repeat of previous cycles we should not go below $20k, or maybe just slightly, as happened with COVID, but there is no guarantee. If for FUD we were to go below $18k or so there would be panic, a lot of panic.
3325  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The so called "Internet community" of naysayers on: May 09, 2022, 06:12:15 AM
I used to think that people who hate technology and progress will be those who are too old to switch, like Warren Buffett or Peter Schiff, but young people who sometimes are working in tech jobs seem to rather be in fiat or gold, like the old generation.

Of course the younger ones are more likely to change if they study well what Bitcoin is. With people like Buffet and Munger there is no hope.

What also happens is that those young people who don't believe in Bitcoin had the opportunity to buy it at $1K to $10K etc., didn't do it and now are looking for excuses by way of confirmation bias to convince themselves that they did the right thing. It's a psychological self-defense mechanism: they look for anything in the news regarding Bitcoin that will reaffirm their belief that they are not assholes.

3326  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: PROS AND CONS OF CRRYPTOGAMBLING. on: May 09, 2022, 05:59:58 AM
Firstly, crypto-gambling is never a stable source of profit because anything can happen(loss) .
That was kinda dumb, gambling, in general, is literally this, not just crypto-gambling to be specific. Heck, this isn't even a discussion of crypto gambling vs gambling imo, this is simply you stating the advantage of NOT crypto gambling, but rather crypto itself. Well not that it's wrong, crypto gambling just takes the attributes of crypto and sets it in their system, so it technically is the same, just that it still feels odd how you compared crypto vs gambling itself, and not really brick and mortar casinos or something of the sort.

I completely agree, the only thing I would add is that if the gambling is with crypto it adds volatility. It is not a good way to have stable income but for a one time thing, if your hit the jackpot and crypto has gone up you have double profit. I think this is an added attraction that crypto gambling has over betting with fiat.

Regarding KYC, as I have commented in another thread, I think we are in an unstoppable trend towards massive regulation and KYC in virtually all casinos. There is too much money moving in crypto gambling and the states are not going to let it go.

3327  Economy / Gambling / Re: I miss the old OnChain gambling on: May 09, 2022, 05:51:29 AM
-snip

Congratulations! You've discovered that regulations are bad for business. There are still casinos without KYC but it seems to me that we are on an unstoppable trend to fully regulated crypto gambling with KYC. This also means more taxes to be paid by the houses and a lower return to the player or a higher HE, however you want to look at it.

It is not all bad, because it is assumed that with greater regulation there is greater security against scams and greater player protection, with mandatory gambling resposible features, for example, but the past that you long for is not coming back.

3328  Other / Politics & Society / Re: [report]Rov V Wade overturned on: May 08, 2022, 02:53:53 PM
I don't have a clear position on this either. I am an atheist, so the moral objections of religious type on this subject do not go with me and I do not agree that it is 100% a matter of "my body my choice" because if we consider that in your body you carry a life it is no longer a matter of your own.

I also see hypocrisy in this on the part of conservative and religious people, because they are against abortion but, historically, there have been quite a few cases where they took their daughter to have an abortion in a place where it was legal, or even illegal, for getting pregnant before marriage. And let alone if the one who got her pregnant was black or someone not well regarded in their social circle. All this while defending the prohibition of abortion. I guess they then go to mass, go to confession and feel free of sin.

What I think is clear is the crux of the matter is where human life begins, and there I think we will never reach a consensus, because I do not think there is a line where one second before we can say that there is no life and one second after that life has already begun.

- Give arguments for why abortion is not murder even in the 2nd trimester (eg. data on brain development).
The cortex does not develop until between 24 and 26 weeks (the lower range of which also happens to be the limit of viability). The cortex is responsible for consciousness, for thought, for feeling, for sensation, for pain. Without a cortex, none of these things are possible. Therefore, before 24 weeks, you do not have a life, but simply a collection of cells and tissues.

Although the scientific definition is a good way to try to establish a criterion to decide whether it is a life or not, I don't think it is the solution either. The cortex will develop in those weeks but the consciousness of self, that I am here and I am something different from the rest, that I exist, does not appear until months after birth, and, on the other hand, what do we do with those who want to abort after the 27th week? Do we also prohibit it? I am thinking of a young girl who has not told her parents because of fear, shame, etc. Do we forbid it and if she has an abortion, do we call her a murderer? And the young girl is not the only case I could give as an example.

If a parent, man or woman, decides they don't want a child 1 month into it's life citing they're "unwanted" or that raising a child might be "lengthy," would it be acceptable for that man or woman to end the child's life for their own convenience?
Obviously not, and constructing such a ridiculous strawman only weakens your position.

I don't think it's a straw man argument. I do believe that in the debate no one raises the question of killing a child once it is born, but there are radical feminist positions that defend that abortion should be free until an instant before birth, then, he speaks of one month, but I propose to consider the argument of one day: to kill a baby one day before birth is an abortion and one day after is a murder? I don't see a line there, as I said before, I see more of a continuum on which it will be difficult to agree.

3329  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The United States turns its attention to stablecoin regulation. on: May 08, 2022, 06:25:20 AM
So did the USA government realize that stablecoins are already a big foe to their incoming digital-Dollar or they are planning to integrate stablecoins to their future digital dollar?

That's what I was wondering. The thing is that the CBDC digital dollar is still years away from being launched and I guess regulation will do until then but once it is in place, I don't see much point in a stablecoins pegged to the USD if you are going to have a shitcoin issued by the FED which is the USD. Better the original than the copy, I'd say.
3330  Other / Meta / Re: Neutral feedback of negative spirit on: May 08, 2022, 06:09:43 AM
The only possibility, where a neutral Trust is a Trust abuse is if the provided comment is an outright lie and the accused account can prove that it's an outright lie.

Basically I think the same as you expressed in the first part of your post, you have detailed it quite well.

Especially, I've seen way too many "nice guy" feedbacks recently. Being a nice guy is clearly a neutral trust because no money is involved and "nice guy" feedbacks are inflating Trust scores and if everyone starts giving out "nice guy" feedbacks, we are at a high risk, that at least some of these "nice guys" turn out to be scammers.

Regarding this, if we simply talk about being a nice guy I agree, but I think there are cases where you can trust a person for his performance in the forum without having traded with him for the moment, but you would trust him to do it.

For example, someone who consistently exposes scammers and cheaters, who constantly works to keep the forum clean. Even if you have not traded with him, his performance suggests that he is an honest person with whom you could make trades, at least of low amount. This is reflected in LoyceV's guide on the trust system:

  • If you believe someone can be trusted, even when you didn't trade with him, that too deserves positive feedback.

Definitely passive aggression in your *neutral* posts...

People in glass houses and all that...

Abject nonsense. There is nothing wrong with those ratings, good use of the trust system and good choice to make them neutral.

I have nothing personal against Timelord2067 but I put him on ignore some time ago and with time I see that it was a good decision, just like with franky1. I don't want to waste time dismantling obvious conspiracies about alts or obviously erroneous posts although argued with walls of text.
3331  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambler turns 60 pence bet into £157,865.59 on: May 08, 2022, 04:36:43 AM
How can you explain such fortunate winning happening for real? It looks unlikely and unrealistic even for a Hollywood movie script!

This is explained by the fact that, quite simply, improbable events end up occurring, and extremely improbable ones as well. With so many people playing the lottery every week, it is normal that someone will end up winning.

Quote
A gambler turned a 60p bet into £157,865.59 this weekend when two Premier League teams came from behind. The punter correctly predicted all 16 results on Saturday in the Premier League and Championship at odds of over 263,109/1, and while the majority came in with relative ease, late comebacks were needed in two 3pm top-flight games.

Actually, I guess luck purely can't explain this event, there must be something else! Or are these fake news?

It can. You would see it differently if you had played millions of hands of (online) poker.

".. the odds of hitting a royal flush would be 4/2,598,960, which would work out to 1/649,740."

In other words, they are smaller than the jackpot in the news, and I, in the time I have been playing, have already seen it several times. The last time was one or two weeks ago and it didn't help me at all because the opponents had not anything and folded, I only got the blinds.
3332  Economy / Gambling / Re: ▄■▀■▄ 🌟BITVEST.io🌟 💰WIN BY 🔶PLAY 📈INVEST➡🔺🎲🎰🔲 | BET CONTEST ▄■▀■▄ on: May 08, 2022, 04:22:04 AM
Because I play in Bitvest, I see him there much more often than in the past, he's in there right damned now doing another rain. And my withdrawals for past months have all been instant. I'm not talking about $50 either but much more. I actually replied to someone talking about what needs to be done.

Good to know that from someone who plays there. Normally people tend to complain more than leave positive feedback and lately we haven't seen any complaints in this thread. Added to what you say, it makes me think that things are getting back to normal, if they haven't already.

I haven't played at bitvest for long time but good to know that bitvest is operating normally without any issues. If everything is ok at lightlord end then why he does not reply on this thread?

I guess if the casinos work, he doesn't care a bit about what is said around here, as has been commented in the thread. But in the past, before there were problems with hot wallets and the delay in the payment of signature campaigns, neither he nor anyone from bitvest came here to answer individual questions that were raised, at least during the time I followed the thread, which was when I participated in the bitvest signature campaign. In this sense this thread is essentially different from others that you can see in this section where the questions raised are always answered by someone from the team.
3333  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Menstral Equity? Oregon requiring tampons in kindergarten boys bathrooms? on: May 07, 2022, 03:59:52 AM
Why are my tax dollars being wasted like this? How long before urinals are required in women’s restrooms?

Actually, I who think that gender theory is garbage, I think that the best thing to do for the future is to gradually make all WCs mixed, so that each person regardless of their biology (sex) or how they feel (the so-called gender) can enter without any problem. Of course with shared vestibule and individual compartments, as in the changing rooms, as I explained in the fluid gender garbage thread.

Why are my tax dollars being wasted like this?

In the same way that your taxpayer dollars are spent on a thousand other ideological issues.

It is just informed that he is in active on the forum but from the post we cant get any update about the gambling site of his own either bitvest or 777coin. If there is any accusation then he should resolve that though I am not aware either there is any accusation active or not.

No, there is no active accusation. At the time I opened a thread on the subject, already locked today, and the only thing I would have liked is that things would have happened differently and I would have ended up removing the negative feedback to Lighlord, especially because when I opened the thread I was included in DT and my feedback became visible, so I felt a great responsibility.

But as far as I can see there are 4 of us DT that left negative feedback and we have not seen any reason to change it, less me that I have been following this thread when I have seen that it has been bumped and I have not seen any change with respect to addressing customer's complaints or delays in withdrawals, even though Lightlord is supposed to be in good health.

It seems that as someone commented in this thread, bitvest.io and 777coin are still more or less up and running so the owner doesn't care about the tags or what can be said about him around here.

Imho your title is misleading because you wrote clients instead of employees Wink

I am referring to customers/clients and not to employees, so I don't see why it is misleading.
3336  Other / Meta / Re: Neutral feedback of negative spirit on: May 06, 2022, 07:37:35 AM
Enough con artists got together to get control of DT and now they cast out anyone that doesn’t turn a blind eye to their abuse.

Hey OG, come on! The trust system is more decentralized than ever. There are 92 members in DT1 and 606 in DT2, it is laughable that you say that.

It’s sad because this forum was once upheld with Libertarian beliefs...

In this I agree that this is one thing that catches my attention. You have been in this much longer than me, I understand that, at least in its origins, the people who were in it were of libertarian tendency, so I am very struck by the number of socialists I see in the forum (call them left-wingers, or otherwise if you prefer) and I opened a thread about it back in the day.
3337  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Do you think that some signature campaigns prioritize clients in some cases? on: May 06, 2022, 07:31:29 AM
well ... so basically every bounty manager has his own criteria in choosing or deciding who is accepted and who is rejected. and of course those who are accepted are people who meet the criteria prepared by the manager.

Well, it is clear to me that merit and in relation to the activity is very important for all quality campaigns. This is what I have seen in the signature campaign I am in and after seeing many applications, those who have applied having much more merits than activity have been accepted shortly after submitting the application. There are other factors, of course. And a new campaign is not the same as one that has been running for many years and only needs to fill a couple of slots, in the latter case maybe some specific characteristics are prioritized over merits.

... the handful of degen gamblers (I say this as a compliment, mind you) I happen to know on the forum aren't generally posting what might be considered "meritorious" or even high quality posts by others.

I believe that accepting "degenerate" gamblers in certain gambling campaigns is very profitable for the casinos because they end up losing everything they earn in the signature campaign and more.
3338  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Hard earned money - Busted in seconds on: May 06, 2022, 03:34:12 AM
That's one of the negative effects of gambling on people. It's called chasing the loss.

...

They will take loans and instead of winning, they will end up busted more. Only them can help themselves in that situation.

Yeah, gambling and loans, what could go wrong? And on the top of that, poor self-control.

In gambling it has to be like in investments, do it only with money you don't need and can afford to lose. And I would say that even in gambling more, because your money is safer if you buy Bitcoin or shares of good companies than if you gamble, especially if you have little self-control.
3339  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: California to encourage companies to deal in cryptocurrency? on: May 06, 2022, 03:10:51 AM
The interesting thing about politicians in general, and quite specifically those who are Democrats, and quite precisely those Democrats from California; when they say "freedom" they intend exact opposite.

That's what I was thinking. If I had a cryptocurrency company, I wouldn't go to California, at least to Florida or one like that where they don't impose a thousands of regulations and the highest taxes in the USA. It is no longer the state that saw the birth and growth of Big Tech, and if many of them do not leave it is because they are already settled there, but there has been an exodus of people and companies from that socialist state that restricts freedoms, to freer states.
