347  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2012-12-05 newint.org - Richard Stallman: ‘Apple has tightest digital handcuffs on: December 06, 2012, 04:47:02 AM
"Bitcoin might be a solution."

Two seconds later, "There is no way to pay with cash on the internet."

I guess cash only means state paper to him still.

He have a compartmental mind.
348  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2012-12-05 newint.org - Richard Stallman: ‘Apple has tightest digital handcuffs on: December 06, 2012, 02:42:27 AM
Bitcoin does not represent monetary freedom.

Regardless, Stallman is a Green, and would support greater freedom anyways.

Satoshi intended bitcoin to be used for monetary freedom. But bitcoinr doesn't give a damn about your monetary freedom.
349  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2012-12-05 newint.org - Richard Stallman: ‘Apple has tightest digital handcuffs on: December 06, 2012, 01:02:37 AM
Given Stallman's political views he's one of the last people I'd expect to be interested in the monetary freedom Bitcoin represents.

He also love privacy.

352  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: jgarzik goes berzerk in #bitcoin-dev, wtf? on: December 03, 2012, 04:42:09 AM
Which is antithetical to the purpose of bitcoin technology in the first place. The idea that no government can control what people do with their money.

Bitcoin doesn't give a damn about your revolution, or your anarcho-capitalism, or your political idealogy or your <sacred principles>.

People do.
353  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Big Shots in favor of Bitcoin on: December 03, 2012, 04:38:31 AM
So what prominent public figures are aligned with the philosophy of bitcoin? In the realm of modern economics, most of the "great minds" seem focused on central planning: central banks, IMF, World Bank, insolvent banks, etc. It's fun to play God by moving billions or trillions of dollars from one part of the world to another via taxes and public policy. This is the fastest way to change the world, if they can convince enough people to give them the keys.

No offense, I just think that they don't understand bitcoin. The vast majority of people will not understand why they should use bitcoin. Why do you expect the same of economists?

354  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: satoshi=david chaum? on: December 03, 2012, 12:46:56 AM
David Chaum is American, which wouldn't explain Satoshi's use of British spellings. For example, glancing over his last posts in the forums I've found one (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1790.msg28715#msg28715) where he writes "modernised" and another one (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1850.msg22952#msg22952) where he uses "formalised". It'd be very unusual for an American to use these "-ise" spellings that appear in Satoshi's writings. Add to that the fact that he inserted a quote about British bank bailouts from The Times in the genesis block, and it looks like Satoshi is probably British or must have had a closer connection with the UK than with America.

or he's trying to throw us off by making us think he's British! Wink

357  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2012-11-30 Calvinayre.com - Bitcoin presented to Casinos in Macau on: December 01, 2012, 04:52:50 PM
Very nice. Bitcoin has some stiff competition from commercial online game payment and economy systems and imho it's by far the best option even at this early stage, hope some of the attendees are thinking the same thing now Smiley

Stiff competition? Everyone is scared of entering our niches!
