3461  Economy / Speculation / Re: BITCOIN HALVING COUNTDOWN IS ON – WILL CRYPTO PRICES RISE? on: September 22, 2023, 02:26:38 AM
Certainly, the upcoming Bitcoin halving event in 2024 has generated significant excitement and anticipation within the cryptocurrency community, and your assessment of its potential impact on the cryptocurrency’s price is well-founded. No rise it crashes burns and ends for us all.

3462  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Paxos recovers its $500,000 'fat finger' Bitcoin transaction fee on: September 22, 2023, 02:23:14 AM
On September 10th, there was a Bitcoin transaction where the sender accidentally paid a much higher transaction fee. They paid $500,000 in fees to transfer only $200 worth of Bitcoin.

The good news is that F2Pool, a mining pool, confirmed on social media that Paxos, a crypto company, has returned the excess $500,000 in Bitcoin transaction fee to the rightful owner

Looks like money launderung, haha Cheesy In general, such things are quite suspicious. Also, it could be a media scandal, made solely for an ad campaign... Such things don't happen with people with no $500,000, and things that happen with people having these sums are always really suspicious... So, in general, a good news is that money can be returned in such cases.

dude you are wrong it is not money laundering. no one in their right mind would launder money it this manner.

read what franky1 said.
3463  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Owner of 8K bitcoin lost in landfill threatens to bankrupt local council on: September 22, 2023, 02:21:03 AM

The guy from this news is humiliated more and more, although he probably guesses that he will never get his eight thousand bitcoins back. He needs to accept this fact and start living without thinking about it, starting everything from scratch. Even if he finds this disk, but most likely the condition of the disk drive will be unsatisfactory for operation. Most likely there is an ide hdd, but even if it were sata, the disk can not only be irretrievably damaged by external influences, but if it was lying on the street, then humidity and temperatures finally finished crush this ide.

in that video he was talking about how they were going to be "giving back" with some charitable donation plan once they recovered his bitcoin. i wonder if he would be so charitable if he didn't have to though. because the more money he gives away the more people would maybe support his ideas to dig up that hard drive...

8000 x 25,000 = 200,000,000 if it costs 4 million to search for it he needs to give the town 8,000,000 upfront and the town  turns a 4,000,000 profit zero questions asked.

He does not have that money so he needs a backer. The backer puts up the 8,000,000

if the money is found and recover the backer gets ½

I doubt he ever gets the backer and its a lost cause.
3464  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Whats your thoughts: Next-Gen Bitcoin Mining Machine With 1X Efficiency Rating. on: September 22, 2023, 02:08:20 AM
So guys I stumbled on this article while doing my normal reading routine and I decided to bring it here to know how miners in the forum will react about this development by freely expressing their take about  it by way of a discussion.

If you have any investments in Bitcoin or are adopting any investment plan according to articles on bitcoin.com, it is a misleading site and may intentionally publish false information related to Bitcoin, and sometimes BCH is mentioned as if it were Bitcoin, review the article more than once or stop browsing them.

What do you think about Microbt’s plans to launch a new bitcoin miner with an efficiency rating of 1X J/T?  Share your thoughts and opinions about this subject just for the purpose of discussion.
Planning is different from implementation. Implementation requires testing several times before we can say that the promises they make are true. Therefore, we rarely witness rapid transformation of mining devices without tests. Some people may request a device or two, and after several months of experimentation, we can give an evaluation.

I have good power deal and I upgrade in waves.

so

a few s17s left
a lot of s19 and s19 pro
a few s19 xp

I will be replacing the s17s with  s19 xps

I will get a couple of  s21 15-16 watts per th to test
I will get a new m5? to replace a m10

in 2024 I will decide if I move into new whatsminers or new antminer s21s

my next 10 buys will likely be 6-7 s19xp and 1 s21 and 1 whatsminer m50? along with 1 L7

Then step back and decide to buy s21 or m50?

3468  Economy / Economics / Re: Early Retirement [Pros and Cons] on: September 21, 2023, 09:07:34 PM
My wife had 1 job from 22 to 55 she retired then 2012.

I do IT and sales. I have a btc, ltc, doge, gpu mining business. Since 2012 I have been mining.

I will likely work till 2030. But my work is not 9 to 5 in an office five days a week.

So I don’t mind working limited days and hours.
Self-employment gives individuals a better chance of planning their retirement. One can easily adjust his tasks to suit his strength and age. With self-employment, full retirement might not be in view except for health or other personal reasons. Most well-known business owners are still working even in their old age. Some of them just hand over the day-to-day running of the business to other people but still make major decisions for the company. I would really like to build a business that will last for a long time so that I can also spend time on other worthwhile activities like community service.

yeah I can choose time to work and location to work.

Most mining is remote so I sit on a chair in my home in front of a pc.

Obviously I do to physical examination and repair gear. but I choose the day to go whit in reason.

Ie 5% of the gear down I do not make a 200 mile roundtrip to fix it.

10-15% I go check it out. next weekend

25% or more I go next day.

I can avoid the mine 20 -30 days most of the time.

say 20 in the summer and 30 in the winter.
3469  Economy / Economics / Re: You can't meet all your needs/desires at once, even if you spend all your salary on: September 21, 2023, 09:01:21 PM
First I would say "human needs are insatiable." Upon attending to some current needs, definitely others will arise. So, even if you spend all your earnings trying to solve every of your needs, that doesn't mean that other needs might not arise.

Often times it's good to remind ourselves that we are still in the real world and have to come out of the world of fantasy.

This is mostly concerned with people who have not really gained a strong grasp on wealth and finance, i.e., those who are not really financially stable. Although it concerns all, but mostly those who are less financially stable.

Bitcoin investment doesn't require a pocket full of money before you can invest, but it's something you can do with in a peaceful mind and with no minimum or maximum amount. It also doesn't put restrictions on the amount of Bitcoin people want to buy or hold, so it's better to invest than to wait until you have finished satisfying all your needs before you think of investing in Bitcoin.

I am not saying that personal needs, some challenges, and problems should not be attended to, but there are some secondary and tertiary needs that can be attended to later. Some people are earning well, but they want to settle all their needs before investing in Bitcoin or into something that will be profitable to them in the future. But even the needs they are trying to solve are unending, because the more needs they solve, the more they others evolve in a short time.

For example, even if someone has $10, 000 in their account and they decide to spend all that money on the current problem or financial needs that they are faced with at that moment, the next moment they will still have some new needs and desire evolving, which also require attention, and by then they will still need more money to tackle whatever issue it is.

So, folks, I wish to remind us to always keep to your budget, still hold on to your savings, and invest for the future. Don't always think you can use your entire savings to solve today's problem, forgetting that tomorrow's needs, desires, and problems are going to evolve.

I shared this based on some mistakes I made a few months ago when I took a lot of responsibility on my shoulder and took out a whole deal out of my savings to solve some problems, with the hope that I would start saving again to cover what I had taken out, but... more needs even arise.

Needs are easy to fill.  Wants are insatiable.

I already have what I need.

I have no where near what I want.

First off I want perfect physical health.

Second I am 66 years old I want to age backwards to 30.

Third my wife is 67 years old I want here to age backwards to 30.

Four we get to 30 years old I want us to stay 30 years old for at least 300 years.

those four things are all wants not needs.

After my wife and I get them I am sure we will want more .

So needs are easy peasy for many people

wants not so much.

3471  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: What happened to keeping all my bitcoin in same address? Now I pay insane fees?! on: September 21, 2023, 05:32:47 PM
I have used GREEN, MUUN, BITCOIN.COM etc

Over time my fees start to jump to $2-$3+ randomly.. I search and beg for an option to turn this stupid "privacy" feature of changing my bitcoin address off.

I literally send all my funds to ONE SINGLE ADDRESS yet each bitcoin app I have used INSISTS on changing my funds around causing me headaches and endless fees later.

I don't know who thought this made privacy better, but I can literally track and see where all my bitcoins are being funneled to.

This has done nothing but caused double to triple the fees everytime I go to send a bitcoin transaction. Sometimes I'm lucky if the amount is small enough it only cost one fee.

But when your wallet keeps moving your bitcoins around sometimes it has to pull from multiple wallets and its causing stupid fees!!

A SINGLE bitcoin fee is already getting high enough as is!!!!!

Please can someone tell me a wallet that doesn't have this discusting sickening "feature" that has done nothing but continuously cost me more in fees?

My request is simple:

I want ONE BITCOIN ADDRESS FOR EVERYTHING ALL FUNDS!

If I want my bitcoin address changed, I want to be the one to do it!

This is an issue I've been neglecting to confront, everytime doing a google search not finding much on it. Switched bitcoin apps like 5x now with no luck. They all are doing the same thing without the option to disable! It does not matter if I send all bitcoins to just one address.

This is such a sick sickening "feature" if someone could please assist me I would thank you.

To even suggest it increases privacy is just sick to me to, why when I can click and see where my funds are going? Doesn't make sense.

Regardless of if I'm somehow mistaken (even though I've done it myself on the blockchain?) I BEG to have this feature disabled oh please!

Sorry for some rant but this has stressed me out sooooo much and now the fees are really being felt worse than an ATM!

Dude buy a few LTC and use them for smaller transactions
Or buy some Doge and use them for small moves.

BTC is not going to work for 100 usd moves as time goes on
3472  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why Is Bitcoin Price Increasing? on: September 21, 2023, 05:26:53 PM
Currently, the price of Bitcoin continues to increase. Today the price of Bitcoin is 27000$. It is assumed that the price of Bitcoin will increase further in the future. Many people want to know why this Bitcoin price is increasing. There are several reasons behind the rise in the price of Bitcoin. I mentioned some important reasons:

1. Much Demand: Bitcoin has become more popular among users. This is one of the reasons for the increase in the value of Bitcoin.

2. Supply : The supply of bitcoins is limited (21 million) and new bitcoins have to follow strict procedures to generate them. This in turn increases the value of Bitcoin.

3. Media : Bitcoin news, events, policy changes, etc. Journalistic events influence the price of Bitcoin.

4. Technology : Bitcoin uses a blockchain technology, which is reliable, secure and provides maximum security.

5. Investment: Bitcoin's value increases through various individuals, companies, and pneumatic investments.

The combination of these fundamental factors has led to the rise in value of Bitcoin. Also distribution limits and mainstreaming means that Bitcoin's supply mechanism affects the mainstream price on the upside.

It is now dropping under 27k to 26.6k

mostly due to lots of bears leveling price.

As I see BTC in this slot of 25k-31k

It reminds me of gold in the 1991-2003 time slot

200-400 usd price range was locked in for more than 10 years.

BTC may be slotted for months to come.

Satoshi is more valuable than merit, assuming it is implemented on a forum as great as bitcointalk then anyone wants to pursue it. One will have unlimited hopes of getting postal incentives as all members here may have satoshis, and that just encourages more spam and also basically everyone breaks this forum rule.

Specifically, you are not allowed to give people any incentive to post substantial posts in your threads.

good point and his reason is he wants the multi tier system for signature campaigns to work as it does. (yes we all know it gets abused)

I still can not find any place like bitcoin talk with its unique way of earning money.

yeah all of the above about slow deliberate attacks against the early blocks makes sense if the attacker was a business trying to make money.

If the attacker is a government looking to wipe out BTC and 256bit  crypto safety.  They would do a few of satoshi's just to see how fast it takes them to do a single address.

Only need do a few.

Then do nothing except crack all of satoshi's addresses. Once they do that simply pull out every coin on them in under an hour.  This would crash BTC out and terrify all companies using 256 bit encryption.

If I live long enough to see this happen I would be very surprised as I think this is 50 years away at best.

256 bit encryption would be wise to to stay ahead of this by becoming 512 bit.

I also think it would happen until we develop cold fusion which would enable  easy power for a very big pc.

I was thinking that a new feature might be interesting for the forum. Is it possible to implement zapping (with lightning) on topics, comments and profiles' bio?
I met with this idea on stacker.news . I found it very useful. Let me know you thoughts.

Best regards,

Signature earning along with free speech 🎤  are two of the forums strongest points.

Zapping is cool but not needed here.

The whole idea here is old school style.

all earn a little more as you go up the ladder.

zapping would take away from ranking up 🆙

ranking up is slow as time is needed.

Waste of money.

1) For a desktop PC all you have to do is pop the top and add in a USB card.
2) They are still plastic, with time and effort you can pull one out.
3) For the determined person it's get laptop, take off cover, un-solder the port (only 4 wires on USB 2) and solder in a new one. But at that point you might as well just pull the drive out

Most if not all PCs can disable the USB ports in BIOS and you can also set a BIOS password so that cannot be changed without the password.

yeah bios and password lock would be best way and cost is zero.
